Michael's recently located to the Petco shopping center on the corner of Community and Poway. It seems like a smaller store than where they were before but nicer. I go to Michael's for items that are harder to find elsewhere. It's a great place to go for all your arts and crafts needs and even seasonal items. Sometimes I can't find seasonal items at Target or Walmart because they go so fast or are kind of crappy, but you can always find stock at Michael's and they often have unique items or things that you can customize yourself. it's not as grand as other locations but they still have a good selection of items and stock. I usually can find what I'm looking for. Great store! read more

The employees here are clueless. Don't bother asking them where or what anything is. You'd think they would need to familiarize themselves with the craft products they sell, but they have no idea. And when you ask them a question they are like deer in the headlights. One cashier once said, "I don't know. You'd know better than me." Great Michael's location went here to stock up on Christmas supplies for tree lighting, decorations, and lighting equipment for the yard. Also came here for art supplies for my classes and the staff on the floor were happy to help me locate the tools I needed and explain their functions. They give away a lot of deals and coupons sadly I don't take much notice to them but the guy at the counter was happy to find us some and give us military discount as well. Thanks! read more

So I go into this chain store and look for a floating frame with 1/2" to 1" space between glass, in order to view both sides of, in this case, a speciman. Also known as speciman display frames. They DON'T carry 'em! So, I'll improvise. I'll buy two plastic (acrylic) frames that have the 3/4" box type backing, remove backing on one and glue two frames together. Well...they no longer carry those! They have NO MORE plastic frames. Great store...me thinks NOT! read more

WORST Experience in this store and worst customer service!! My boyfriend and I had gone in to purchase two items and I gave him a $20 to but the product that had been $2 and some change and the last named DIANE at the register gave him $2 and some change back he then gave me my change and I asked where the rest of it was . She ARGUED with me saying he only gave her a $5 dollar bill. And continued to state it was only a five. The manager would NOT count out the drawer and said it can't be done until tomorrow morning. So I leave the store with nothing back?!? Do not go to this store and do NOT get check out by DIANE! read more

This is a nice new store located right next to the new Geocery Outlet in the Petco shopping center located on the Southwest corner of Poway Road and Community Road. It's not quite as big as the old store that was located on Poway Road and Pomerado Road. Store looks nice and new, but they could open a few more check stands. Really, you only have one check stand open and there are people backed up waiting. This place is kind of a ghost town. Where are the employees? I'd rather go to the Carmel Mountain Ranch store. At least there are more people to help out and more check stands open! read more

This review pertains to the framing department. My advice, do it yourself! These people are the most incompetent framers I've ever encountered. First off, after placing my order, I was called to say I needed to come back because what I chose wasn't going to work. Turns out, despite the clear written instructions, the framer had turned the mats in the vertical position and told me it would cover my artwork. After clearing that up, when I received the finished piece, it wasn't centered and was twisted so the artwork was higher on the left. Additionally, they left a piece of tape on the artwork inside the glass. Rather than have them fix it, I took it apart and redid it myself. NEVER USE THEM!!! read more

I've been to the new location 3 times this week (finishing up various projects). And each time, EACH time the line is 8 to 15 deep with ONE cashier. The second visit I asked to talk to the manager who gave me the "look." Third visit, same reaction. Calling district manager when I get home. read more

I am extremely pleased and grateful with the customer service I was given by employees Andrew and Breanna at Poway, Ca. 92064 branch. Both of them were kind to listen when I explained my need of 50 osthmus tree stems within a short period of time. They both went out of their ways to find the availability of the product and ways on how to order it. Their teamwork made it possible for the product to be delivered to the store timely. Breanna graciously waited on me when I picked the product. Andrew made the time and effort to make a follow up call for assurance that I am fully satisfied with my requested product. Love this location. It had the supplies I needed for a very reasonable price. The cashier was very pleasant and asked if I was a teacher. When I told her I was she gave me a 15% discount. YAY! Yesterday I stopped at the Michael's location on Carmel Mountain Road with my daughter to get the same supplies. I asked a sales associate for help and she was so rude. Needless to say I did not make a purchase at that location. I'm glad I waited because the Poway location had exactly what I wanted. The Poway location is very popular and gets a bit busy sometimes though. read more

Did you know that Michael's has birthday parties? My daughter had her 7 year old birthday there yesterday and it was great! It is very reasonably priced ($50 for their nice bright party room for 2 hours and a party helper). For only $25 more they did face painting done by another employee. I really liked that they let you bring in any food that you wanted, not many party places do that. I also liked that you buy and pick your own crafts that you will do at the party so you can customize to to your guests and your budget. They even give you a coupon for purchasing your party craft supplies. All the kids had fun. Keep it in mind for your next birthday party! read more

This store has a great spread of clearance and sale items. I usually look up the 40% off coupon on my phone before I go in. The associates are always friendly and greet us when we come in. Whenever I have a question, I get help ASAP. The framing department is great. I ordered my daughters picture to be framed and it came out perfectly!!! Great price too. He was so rude to me and ignored my questions, i called up to report this behavior to the manager but i guess it was him and he hung up on me!!! Some service. Horrible store were in there for 20 minutes looking for thing NOT one sales person around found one girl conveniently unable to help us. I've never had this problem at Joanne's. Not one sales person on the sales floor, plenty of customers NO SALES ASSOCIATES to be found anywhere and maybe 2 on a register! read more

Called at 9:15 a.m (just after they open) to see if they had availability in a class for the kids. Called THREE TIMES before I had a live person actually help me. The young guy who answered the phone kept putting me on hold saying at first someone else would have to help answer my question, then the 2nd time said he'd help me but both times I waited and waited - (10-15 mins). 3rd phone call I just asked for a manager and she acted like she couldn't hear me and then she claimed they have people waiting at the doors when they open and they were 'very busy'. She was unapologetic in her tone, seemed to be irritated and was not professional at all. The store is pretty new and usually clean but the customer service continues to lack. I'd suggest that corporate get them a CUSTOMER SERVICE CLASS before they ruin this store for Poway residents who are very loyal to shopping in their home town. P.S. Staffers, if you don't like your job then find one you do like because there are plenty of people who will do your job with a smile on their face. Life is too short to hate what you do! read more

Horrible customer service. Just went for two items. 1 button maker 2 paper to print a pic on. As soon as I walked in store asked and explained what I was looking for. Was told they didn't carry anything like that and that they were a small store and I should try the bigger Michaels. I told them I had seen those items before in store so I had to go and look for items myself. I was also told they didn't carry printing paper. She did not even let me finish explaining what I needed paper for. So yes I had to find paper aisle by myself because she did not offer to show me what they carried. So needless to say I found both items in the little Michaels store after being told they did not carry those items!! read more
