Came in on a Saturday to get a custom frame for an 11x14 cross-stitch project I recently completed. I wanted a couple matte colors to frame the artwork and a nice wood frame to match the decor in my house. There were a couple people in front of me and two employees behind the counter. They were both very nice and helpful. Aaron helped me decide on the matte colors and custom frame. I was super happy with what we came up with. He took his time helping me decide between multiple color combinations. I didn't feel rushed at all. He told me it should be ready in 2 weeks and assured me they would take special care of my cross-stitch. Overall a great experience at the custom framing counter. I can't wait to see my framed cross-stitch! Would recommend.

Please think twice before having any custom framing projects completed here. for $300 we got a 37 year heirloom improperly cropped with the backing tattered and frayed. It was suggested to us by the manager to "you get online and try to order a new one." No apology, accountability... nothing

Tucked in the far back corner of the Jansen Beach shopping area, it's easy to miss this Michaels Craft location. I've been a big time crafter my entire life - make jewelry, create home decor, paint ornaments, adult coloring - so visiting Michaels when I need specific items or just to see what's new each season, is part of my routine. This store, like many of the Michaels in Portland metro area, needs a refresh. I find it so perplexing that stores that attract crafters are so uninspiring! That being said, they have all the typical sections and supplies in a relatively easy to find layout. I always check out the jewelry supplies in search of new and unique beads and findings. Same with the ribbon - I have a thing for French ribbon and toile. When I give a gift, the packaging is as special as the present. At Christmas, I have to stay away from this section is I can't stop myself from buying ribbon even though I'm well stocked at home! The faux greenery is also a favorite section especially the succulents. One would think that a succulent is an easy plant to maintain but that isn't always the case. Even the tiniest bit of water is often too much. Two years ago Michaels exploded with faux cactus of every type, size and price along with mid century mid planters and terrariums. I went to town! Sadly, the last two years succulents are hard to find - please bring them back! The seasonal items are also fun to check out as they always introduce new items, a smart strategy to keep their customers buying. I downsized my home a few years ago so I have to be super selective on new purchases but I still look, and when something is a WOW, I buy. The customer service here has always been pleasant. One cashier even proactively let me know that anyone 55 or older gets a 10% discount every day of the week. She was clearly cautious as she brought this up knowing that if I wasn't 55 or older, this would not be a compliment! Heck, I was happy to be educated and I try to remember to ask for the discount whenever I am checking out, but being so old, my memory isn't that great! Lots of parking right out front. Coupons always available on Michaels online so make sure to have them pulled up on your smartphone when you check out.

The cutest beaded summer bag with 2 lemons and bamboo handles caught my attention. Unlike some of the gaudier bags in this style, this particular bag was subtle, with just two lemons on a sand colored, beaded background. it's sophisticated and perfect for an upcoming trip to Italy in the fall, but no way I could wait until them I ripped the tags off in the parking lot and used it that night! My friends, the waitress, and another person at the restaurant complimented it! The bag is unique, stylish, and quite the "find" for $49. The clothing racks were full of many newer spring styles And I spent a lot of time in the dressing room trying on various outfits. So many of them worked, but I had to do a catch and release on a few because I have been buying a lot of clothes lately. I bought a beautiful white boho cropped spring sweater and a pair of wide legged pants, in a fun, beachy print, to go with. Found a two piece set in a light caramel color, perfect to wear in several seasons. The pants are fitted up top, but looser in the legs and paired perfectly with the crocheted knit top in the identical color. This outfit and the purse with lemons are definitely coming on my trip! Also bought a pretty pink athletic jacket and wore it immediately on my walk the next evening. The woman who was managing the dressing room was friendly and super helpful when I needed other sizes. It's such a pain to get dressed and go back out on the floor, so when she offered to bring me a different size, I was so grateful. My only complaint was they had a selection of maxi dresses hung on a low rack so all the bottoms were filthy. I'm not buying anything that is dirty and I'm unsure if it will wash clean. Definitely an area of improvement for the management. They didn't have as many food items as usual, and area I like to peruse for pantry items, but the housewares was completely stocked, as was the bedding and bath area. Lots of fabulous finds! Oh, and I guarded my cart because a friend told me that when she went to use the restroom, her cart went missing and she and the staff never found it. LOL. I Think a worker probably put the items back thinking it was abandoned, but I wasn't taking any chances!

Sheri-Ann was amazing. 35yrs in the business and she knows her glass. She was very friendly and clear and gave us great guidance. A few helpful tips and tricks that she passed on. Basic instruction and then just let us go to town. We used all types of colored frit, they have every color in the rainbow AND every possible texture & opacity. We made a few flowers and I even did a frog & lily pad. I simply cannot wait to see the final product. Should be a week or so. I highly recommend you check this place out. Great value for your money. Right in downtown Vancouver. We'll be back. Maybe to even try another class, stained glass?! Or maybe to better hone our frit-laying skills. So much fun. Thanks to Sheri-Ann & Carla for having such a great local destination for fun artistic creation!

Would that I could, I'd walk in and make it rain SO hard, but I do manage to treat my self! Eryngium is a bleeping WONDERLAND!! One of my dearest longtime friends introduced me to Eryngium when I first moved to Portland last summer. Since then, I'm always scheming for reasons to visit from SW Portland. The shop is *exquisitely* appointed with an incredible variety of paper, ephemera, rubber stamps, a plethora of writing instruments (swoon fountain pens), inks, copious stationery, stickers, {takes a shuddering breath}, washi tape, vintage postage stamps, journals, stunning jewelry, and itty bitty heart-adored paperclips for crying out loud! {dabs sweat from brow} If you are a stationery aficionado, get thyself to Eryngium Papeterie. Aside from the beautiful space and luscious stationery finery, the owner, Crystal, is an adorable marvel-- warm, welcoming, hilarious, helpful, and clearly loves her work. The entire team is lovely and kind. This is hands-down the best stationery wonderland I've had the delight to visit and shop in my lifetime. Eryngium Papeterie is a beacon of hope, joy, and light for those of us who enjoy the slow, intentional connection of handwritten correspondence and reflection.

If you need it to write, Eryngium has it! I went in one day to look for postcards since I got into penpalling and this was the closest store, having seen the instagram page from a recommendation on yelp I was very interested to see what was inside, I was very happy to see what else was there! Now I've come in and found other lovely things to buy and have stepped up my penpal game 10 fold and found other wonderful small businesses that Eryngium stocks like Portland Stamp Co! Postcards and my main love but I also keep coming back for the stickers and tiny cards as little goodies to add to bigger packages I send to international penpals. I find the cost for the quality very reasonable, as much if not all of the items are hard to find or specialty, and I don't see any price gouging or mark ups! I highly recommend you come in and take a look at all the amazing things in this store, you could get lost looking in every tiny drawer and all the small ephemera in them. A paper-lover's paradise!
