If you're into DIY décor projects, you're likely familiar with big box shops like these, and know what to expect: a little bit Michael's, a little bit JoAnn's, and a whole lot of square footage packed with everything you need to craft, create, or decorate to your heart's content! Clean, well-stocked, well-staffed with helpful and knowledgeable employees (particularly the fabric and sewing sections).

Let me just say I love this Hobby Lobby store! I had never even heard of this chain before but while at Clackamas promenade running errands since all of Multnomah County is still in Pandemic lockdown, I walked past this store and being a crafter, had to check it out. I was not disappointed! The store is quite large and filled with items in so many categories. There are silk plants and flowers and a myriad if vessels. Planters and vases. Fir the artist, there are colored pencils, markers, paints, brushes, easels and canvas. In the back are frames if many styles and sizes plus you can custom frame your art. I always like perusing the seasonal section of craft stores and Hobby Lobby has a huge area dedicated to all things summer. Vibrant colored melamine dishes and serving pieces for your patio or garden. Plastic glasses, serving trays, bbq tools and so much more! Lots if fun and whimsical items too. I picked up a pack colorful 5" toothpicks perfect for appetizer platters during these pandemic times. Also grabbed some whimsical dish towels. Lots and lots of modern country and an entire aisle filled with every kind of lantirn and style you can imagine. They also carry a vast assortment of outdoor cushions and pillows made with sun protected fabrics for your patio and garden. The pillows came in so many vibrant colors, patterns and even shapes. I fell in love with a rattan pillow with 2 parrots on the front. Darn, if only it matched my décor. I was able to find a navy blue and white geometric pillow perfect for the Chase on my balcony I was pleasantly surprised to find so many home décor items. They were organized throughout the store on kiosks by style. For beachy and cozy cottage décor; modern farmhiuse; mid century modern; teen decor; and even an entire display of every kind of pink flamingo one would want - if pink flamingos are your thing!!! Passing the shelves loaded with glass vases, I noticed a short round vase with a silver band around the top, the perfect mid century modern vase for fresh flowers, perfect for style. Even better since it was on sale for $4.99! It immediately went into my shopping basket. So for a random first time visit into this store, I ended up with an assortment of items that I never knew I needed, but absolutely had to have. Will definitely keep this store in mind any time I'm in the Clackamas area. It is always worth a run through.

.::Part 1 of 2::. Hobby Lobby- I have been an extremely faithful and loyal customer since you first opened here in Clackamas. This is my absolute favorite store, I can literally get lost in there for hours. Well over $1,000 has been spent in your store by me, just in 2021! My experience here has always been more than great. Your sales rock, your employees go above and beyond with excellent customer service, and the items that I purchase here are always high-quality, reasonably priced, and SO cute! If something does break or malfunction, your return policy is more than fair. However, today's shopping experience wasn't so great. While shopping for some very last minute Christmas items, I noticed I was being watched and followed by an employee. I really didn't think anything of it... loss prevention just doing their job. I get it, it's the Holidays, everything is crazy. I then started to notice that codes were being called over the intercom whenever I walked to a different part of the store. I thought that was kind of strange, but figured it was just a coincidence. I was on the hunt for some very specific items so I could finish making an ornament for a friend who lost their house in the fires last year. The ornament says "First Christmas in our new home 2021." I glued it onto a wooden round cut-out and I went in shopping today looking for the perfect accessories to jazz it up a bit. It took me a very long time to find everything I was looking for, and I also picked up some fun items for myself along the way. Before I walked into your store, I had just finished my 16th round of radiation. Radiation makes me extremely fatigued, nauseas, and it also effects my thinking process. (I have to really think about what is said to me and spend some time processing when I am spoken to, especially if I am caught off guard) While some of my behavior may seem a bit strange, (standing in one place for a few minutes at a time so I don't vomit all over your floor, occasionally having to reach up the bottom of the frontside of my shirt to adjust my drain because it was pulling at the surgical site causing pain, having to adjust and pull down my sweatshirt constantly because my prosthetic left breast kept sticking to my shirt causing my sweatshirt to roll halfway up my back, standing (out of everyone's way) at my cart scrolling through my phone while looking at Pinterest for ornament decor ideas, frequently opening and going through my purse to get access to my medication and nausea lozenges) that does not warrant you the excuse of how poorly I was treated today.

They built a hobby lobby in Portland ? So I had to check it out, thought maybe it's better then Michaels or something, but no it's just your typical arts and craft store has everything micheals would have just a little bigger store. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. But if Your in the area it's worth the stop.

So with the newness of this place one would think there'd be something extremely special that would drive away business from Michael's or going to the craft warehouse but don't be fooled it's the same damn store with much older staff. It's new it's clean they have everything that you can find at any other craft store I didn't see anything special...i toured the whole store. it wasn't crowded but it was hell to check out with only 2 cashiers working so it was slow as heck to actually get in and out we went on several occasions with the attempt to check it out and I've determined I don't like their operating hours. closed on Sundays for religious reasons and close at 8 o'clock Monday through Saturday I believe... 95% of other local businesses close at 9 o'clock because it aligns with the mall hours. If I was you I'd go to Michael's any day and use your 40% coupon as far as I can tell they didn't have any type of reward program

Nice music, smiles on the cashiers, lots of clearance shelves(where I found what I needed!), easy, close parking in Clackamas Promenade and short lines.

This stuff is pricey as heck, but it stands the test of time, so maybe it's a good deal in the end. It's nice to support the history and legacy of Oregon. When you can find something on sale, it helps. This particular shop also has all sorts of wool remnants, so if you are a maker, there are definitely amazing finds.

Pendleton…read morerepresents this time in our history with high quality wool blankets and clothing of beautiful, rustic prints, most in warm colors and patterns of various landscapes. The desert, mountains, forests and coast of the west and PNW are expertly weaved in. The blankets are heirlooms, classic in design and made to last for generations. And they are warm! I have one and even on the coldest night, it keeps me toasty! The wool is soft, not scratchy like some wool items can be. Having one of their coverlets or blankets on your bed will transform your room. Literally. Their clothing, for men, women and children is just as exceptional. The coats, jackets, capes and sweaters are so warm, in addition to being comfortable and beautiful. I'm considering purchasing a cape to keep me warm on my daily walks. The weight is perfect plus it allows for free arm movement. To adorn your home there are rugs in a variety of sizes from small doormats to full area rugs. They make bath towels, throw blankets, and pillows; they have an ever expanding collection of prints which immediately shout Pendleton. So many patterns to choose from! Most are muted colors on a neutral background. Aztec, jacquard, plaid, stripes, heritage, rustic. Some with prairie scenes, the Northern lights, mountains, eagles, elk and other animals and landscapes found in the west. Each is truly a work of art! If you love the prints but want something smaller, they have coffee mugs, water bottles, canteens, baseball caps, wallets, totes, handbags, backpacks, and even masks with their signature prints. They make fantastic gifts that people love to receive. This store, on SE McLoughlin is massive with all the regular premade merchandise plus rows of fabrics. And an area where they sell remnants by the pound and yarn. Of course depending on what you are looking for, it's hit or miss but there was a large selection. While I don't sew, I am considering buying a 2 yard remnant and paying someone to sew a hem so I can use as a throw for my bed. The colors and pattern is so beautiful that I can't stop thinking about it and know it will instantly transform my room. Prices are definitely on the higher side and some specific items actually made me gasp out loud! But you are paying for the brand, legacy and quality. Even though I was in the store for a significant amount of time, I was never acknowledged or greeted. While this usually doesn't bother me because I'm very independent and prefer to browse on my own, but because the store was so large and I was the only one there, having no acknowledgement of my presence felt cold and uninviting. For those interested in the history, Pendleton is an Oregon icon dating all the way back to 1863 when Thomas Lister Kay, an Englishman and weaver by trade, made the cross country journey to the PNW and began working in Oregon's woolen mills. He then opened a wool mill in Salem, OR. The blankets and clothing were not only practical, they became the standards of trade and ceremonial use. In 1909 his descendants took over the defunct Pendleton Wool Mill in Pendleton, OR, and Pendleton remains a private business run by descendants of Thomas Kay to this day. Pretty remarkable. John Bishop, the great-great-grandson of Thomas Kay, is president and CEO; and great-great-grandson Peter Bishop is the Executive VP of Merchandising and Design. Pendleton operates seven facilities and 41 retail stores that sell products throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe, Japan, and Korea. The company headquarters are in Portland, Oregon, and the fabrics and blankets are still woven in PNW mills. So while visiting Oregon, bring home a  piece of history that is beautiful and practical! And for those locals like me, having a touch of Oregon history accenting your home is a nice touch.
