I am a huge fan of Pendleton Woolen Mills. I have purchased many blankets and fabric from them in the past. I recently learned that they offer in-person crafting classes at this location. I went to the activity last month and while the normal teacher wasn't there, it was a very enjoyable experience. When the activity was posted for this month, I was very excited to attend and meet the normal instructor. The class was from 3:00 to 5:00 and was listed as make this craft for free during this session. I arrived at 2:55 and the instruction for how to sew the project had already been delivered despite the fact that people were showing up for the 3:00 start time. Also the supplies were not provided but the most frustrating part was we weren't even going to make the craft. Everybody was disappointed and the store said everyone who showed up must have misunderstood what was clearly posted differently on their website. It felt like a bait and switch which was disappointing for a company that I had valued so much in the past. The selection in the store is great, but I was left with a sour taste in my mouth from the community crafting class that did not involve any crafting or community. I love Pendleton. I've had one board shirt for eight years, and it still looks like it just came off the rack. This stuff is pricey as heck, but it stands the test of time, so maybe it's a good deal in the end. It's nice to support the history and legacy of Oregon. When you can find something on sale, it helps. This particular shop also has all sorts of wool remnants, so if you are a maker, there are definitely amazing finds. read more

When people think of the PNW, the history of the Oregon Trail often comes to mind. Pendleton represents this time in our history with high quality wool blankets and clothing of beautiful, rustic prints, most in warm colors and patterns of various landscapes. The desert, mountains, forests and coast of the west and PNW are expertly weaved in. The blankets are heirlooms, classic in design and made to last for generations. And they are warm! I have one and even on the coldest night, it keeps me toasty! The wool is soft, not scratchy like some wool items can be. Having one of their coverlets or blankets on your bed will transform your room. Literally. Their clothing, for men, women and children is just as exceptional. The coats, jackets, capes and sweaters are so warm, in addition to being comfortable and beautiful. I'm considering purchasing a cape to keep me warm on my daily walks. The weight is perfect plus it allows for free arm movement. To adorn your home there are rugs in a variety of sizes from small doormats to full area rugs. They make bath towels, throw blankets, and pillows; they have an ever expanding collection of prints which immediately shout Pendleton. So many patterns to choose from! Most are muted colors on a neutral background. Aztec, jacquard, plaid, stripes, heritage, rustic. Some with prairie scenes, the Northern lights, mountains, eagles, elk and other animals and landscapes found in the west. Each is truly a work of art! If you love the prints but want something smaller, they have coffee mugs, water bottles, canteens, baseball caps, wallets, totes, handbags, backpacks, and even masks with their signature prints. They make fantastic gifts that people love to receive. This store, on SE McLoughlin is massive with all the regular premade merchandise plus rows of fabrics. And an area where they sell remnants by the pound and yarn. Of course depending on what you are looking for, it's hit or miss but there was a large selection. While I don't sew, I am considering buying a 2 yard remnant and paying someone to sew a hem so I can use as a throw for my bed. The colors and pattern is so beautiful that I can't stop thinking about it and know it will instantly transform my room. Prices are definitely on the higher side and some specific items actually made me gasp out loud! But you are paying for the brand, legacy and quality. Even though I was in the store for a significant amount of time, I was never acknowledged or greeted. While this usually doesn't bother me because I'm very independent and prefer to browse on my own, but because the store was so large and I was the only one there, having no acknowledgement of my presence felt cold and uninviting. For those interested in the history, Pendleton is an Oregon icon dating all the way back to 1863 when Thomas Lister Kay, an Englishman and weaver by trade, made the cross country journey to the PNW and began working in Oregon's woolen mills. He then opened a wool mill in Salem, OR. The blankets and clothing were not only practical, they became the standards of trade and ceremonial use. In 1909 his descendants took over the defunct Pendleton Wool Mill in Pendleton, OR, and Pendleton remains a private business run by descendants of Thomas Kay to this day. Pretty remarkable. John Bishop, the great-great-grandson of Thomas Kay, is president and CEO; and great-great-grandson Peter Bishop is the Executive VP of Merchandising and Design. Pendleton operates seven facilities and 41 retail stores that sell products throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe, Japan, and Korea. The company headquarters are in Portland, Oregon, and the fabrics and blankets are still woven in PNW mills. So while visiting Oregon, bring home a  piece of history that is beautiful and practical! And for those locals like me, having a touch of Oregon history accenting your home is a nice touch. read more

The store offered all kind of Pendleton products, but I was there to get their fabric remnants by the pound. It was a hit or miss process. I had to face those huge crates, threw myself into them in searching for something useable. I was able to find a few scraps to make something with, and to my surprise I walked away with some nice wool and only pay $5/lb. So if you are into Pendleton wool, good with sewing and feeling lucky. Easy to visit - this after driving by it for a few years. Loads of parking. Had a great time. People are very helpful and super nice. And good prices but remember that this kind of quality doesn't come cheap. Lots of shirts, pajamas, robes, socks and blankets. And, huge rolls of wool fabric to die for including generously sized 1-3 yard pieces at reduced prices. Grabbed a nice piece to create a blanket for a standard kid bed. The stuff is luscious- rows and rows of amazing, beautiful designs in top-quality fabric. Think pillows, recovering a chair, - throws, again, even at the mill, not cheap. But, buzzed in, buzzed out with a load of Christmas shopping done. And, I needed a spool of white thread and, guess what, they had it. And currently doing a four for the price of three socks. And, don't overlook the huge selection of heirloom quality blankets. So it's fabulous design meets great quality.Had a great time. Love the place. read more

I bought a jacket from their store in Jackson Hole. After 6 months, the zipper failed. Contacted them, they asked for a photo and proof of purchase which I provided. I was then told to see if the store would help because they would not. I was so disappointed in both the jacket and the service I wrote them a nice poem and put it on facebook. This is the most expensive jacket I ever bought and the shortest lived one. read more

We've come here for years and spent tens of thousands of dollars on their wool. This store used to be great. We could find "deals" on the remnant tables of some of their more popular blanket weight patterns. "Deal" basically meant 25% off bolt fabrics, which run $130+ per yard. Now, you're lucky if you find one or two pieces. They've been out of black felt binding for months and months. This last visit I wanted to buy about $400 worth of wool on a bolt. The main pattern was cut in an awkward place, so I asked to begin my cut 9" in (1/4 yard). We've been coming here for years and never had a problem with this, typically offered by staff. Now they tell us we have to buy the ¼ yard if we want the rest adding almost $35 of fabric we can't use. In the past, these would be cut and placed on the remnant table. They lost a sale because of it. Store is just not what it used to be. Very disappointing. Hopefully they're doing customers a major disservice. read more

Made in China! Double check what you are buying. If it says imported then from my experience the tag says made in China. They moderate any slightly negative reviews on their website. Mine was taken down mentioning the jacket was made in China. Also the arms are too short as is the length. So be careful ordering online. They moderate what is being said about the products. read more

I'm giving this low rating for poor quality of Pendleton products and awful customer service. I recently purchased a scarf from the National Parks collection. I was excited about it, thinking of Pendleton as high quality. However after only two light wears, the scarf began to unravel at every stripe! Quite a disappointment, and a huge surprise considering the cost of the item! I tried to resolve this issue quickly. It was incredibly difficult to find customer service contact (I don't live near any of the retail locations). But I sent an email with images attached, and after hearing nothing in a week, I followed up again. Then nearly two weeks after my first email I got a response asking for images which I had already sent, and not acknowledging any part of my email as if it hadn't been read. I had weeks of back and forth after this! I resent images, sent my receipt, and simply requested compensation for my wasted time and the poor quality product. My emails were never responded to promptly, and it took me following up a second time for each email.. which really drew the process out! After several rounds of this, and a follow up email with me asking how they were going to address the issue, I received an address to mail the scarf to, with no instructions or explanation of what I could expect to happen. I wrote again asking for prepaid postage, and for an explanation about what the process would be. After waiting nearly another week, I received a response that again ignored most of my email. I was told that they would inspect the scarf and send me a replacement if possible, and if not they would see if they could get me a refund. So i'm summary, after over a month of me trying to address the issue with Pendleton USA's customer service, I was supposed to send it in on my own dime, and possibly not receive another scarf, and possibly not receive a refund. Based on the nightmare of communicating with customer service, I decided not to even send the scarf in. I hadn't been wearing it because of its state, and hoping Pendleton would deal with the issue, and it turned into almost two months of me not having the scarf I bought for this winter! I will never buy from Pendleton again. They have outrageous prices for low-quality products, and the worst customer service I've ever experienced. All of my friends who witnessed this process too have changed their minds about purchasing anything from Pendleton in the future. read more

I visited this place on a trip to Portland, and consider it a must visit for out of town folks! They have precut yardage that is 1/2 off, and bolts of woven wool for 30-70$/ yard. I got 2 yards of solid blue wool to use as a quilt backing for $50 total. They also had some silks and cottons at great prices. I found some 100% cotton, white, for 5$/ yard. read more

I don't recommend shopping here in the store. Try online or the downtown locations. Every single time I have visit this location the staff are rude and uninviting. Pre-Covid and during Covid they have been the most cold and unwelcoming sales employees I've ever encountered. Spent close to 2k during the holidays on gifts and I still get followed around the store by people pretending to fluff pillows and fold blankets making me feel uncomfortable and laughed at when I enquire about pricing. The Pendleton store completely suckered me into a large fabric purchase when select fabrics were only $5 per yard. Are you reading this??! Pendleton virgin wool fashion fabric for only $5 per yard! I bought a few small bolts of worsted and can't wait to sew the dresses I have in mind. The selection of fabric here was good and the prices varied from reasonable to lowest-cost-ever for this kind of quality. There are scraps and selvedge that can be purchased for craft projects, plus their line of beautiful home decor including the classic blankets. Take the time to visit, and if you're a seamstress be sure to stop by Mill End Store (a completely different kind of fabric store nearby) while you're in the area. I was in the market for a new blanket for my home. My (smart) mother suggested that, as opposed to purchasing just any blanket, I take a little piece of Oregon back to Michigan with me by purchasing one at the Pendleton outlet. I'm really glad she suggested this. I love my new blanket and I know it'll last for a long time. This location carries Pendleton's home goods - blankets, throws, pillows, bolt fabrics, and rugs. If you're looking for shirts, you should visit the Made in Oregon store. The selection of blankets at this location is incredible! I spent a good hour looking over all the options and scrutinizing them. Really, you can't go wrong with any of the designs. The outlet offers several "prototype" patterns. It would be cool to know that you essentially have a one-of-a-kind pattern. There's a large display gallery in the back with "tapestries," or blankets designed by fiber artists displayed on the wall. These are gorgeous pieces. When I visited there were several tapestries that recreated historical photos - very stunning! Some of the tapestries are available for purchase on the Pendleton website, but, from what I understand, many of them are still prototypes. read more

In addition to the great variety of Pendleton products, this place is craft heaven! I recently took a class here where we learned to make solid wool rugs from bags of selvage. It was unique, the instructors were great, and I got stocked up on supplies (selvage, at $1 a pound!) to continue making these rugs at home. They had supplies for loads of other crafts, art projects, and clothing - and they offer classes almost every Saturday and Sunday ( and they aren't all rug classes). This is a really fun place to be. If you aren't familiar with the area, you have to enter from the east side of the street. I don't want to tell you how long it took me to figure that out. read more

I love Pendleton! The fabrics are beautiful, the blankets are warm and comfy, and I'm a big fan of the pillows. I found the employees to be really friendly. I was at one location and asked about plaid pillows and she recommended that I check out another location. She said that their store was sold out, but even better that the recommended location had them on sale! This location let me know that they didn't originally make pillows in the fabric that I was looking for, but that we could commission the pillow to be made for the cost of fabric/materials and $15. She also let me know that the fabrics usually go on sale at the end of March, so if I wanted to wait and call in an order I could. read more

I wish I knew her name, but whoever answered the phone at this location when I called a few weeks back went above and beyond with customer service. I called to ask if they by chance had any extra fabric similar to that of my outdated Pendleton wallet, as my puppy had found it and taken a liking to it (chewed it up). She took down my number and not only called me back hours later to tell me she had some old sample fabric she'd found, but then she offered to mail it to me - FREE of charge. Now that's customer service. I've always loved Pendleton but now I love them even more. Way to hire the right people and THANK YOU so much to the woman who helped me! This place was great!! It was my first trip to Portland last week and this was on my must visit list. I went twice actually! Everything was on sale and I found a bunch of fabrics on their closeout table (50% OFF!) that I will be using for some jacket projects and I even found a piece big enough to use as a blanket for the couch! My wife was a little disappointed as she thought there would be more sale items but their stuff is just beautiful. We did buy some yardage and she's very excited about it. This review is for the employees, a clique of cackling hens who are too busy gossiping with each other that they can't be bothered to say "hello" or "may I help you". This was my first visit here after taking a needle felting class. I wanted to stock up on supplies, support a local business, and I was excited to talk to others about my new-found hobby. During the 20 minutes I was there I was not greeted, I was not asked if I needed any help, and I was not acknowledged as I walked past two of these employees who continued gabbing with each other as I left. Bet you thought their wool fabric was guaranteed. Bought blanket weight fabric from a now closed store that used their fabric to upholster sofas. Paid an obscene price per yard for the fabric a few years ago - but hey, we expected it to last and last.. Center of the cushions ( not the upholstery part rather the center of the wool fabric) and the piping wore out way, way too soon. Well, Pendleton does not guarantee their wool fabric I guessl. Pendleton wanted to help us out in replacing our 25-30 yards at $75 a yard or so. Offered us 5% . And of course, the fabric is discontinued. Fabric is pretty enough but our experience is that Pendleton does not really stand behind their fabric. Better to buy the Chinese rip offs. At least you know what you are getting and have no false illusions about whether they will stand behind their product. So disappointed in Pendleton. I thought they cared about me as a customer. read more
