All the beautiful artificial flowers I got today!
    JoAnn L.

I needed to freshen up my artificial flowers in the area near my front door. I went to Michaels and found the store full of fun and colorful Christmas items. It certainly put me in a holiday mood. But I was looking for artificial flowers and not only for the Christmas season. I found the collection of flowers of all kinds and colors! I'm pretty sure I bought more than I needed! The quality of the flowers is top notch and there was such a variety of colors to choose from.

If you have an imagination and need to express your creativity by making something or just decorate up your space Michael's is the place to do it economically. Initially Michaels was a craft warehouse but they now have some pretty great home decor items as well. You can actually find some West Elm, Pottery Barn or RH decor knock offs at a fraction if the price to decorate. Michael's also has some pretty great sales and if you get on their email list you can get additional coupons. Not bad! We went in for some Christmas decor items and they were having 50 to 70% off almost all their Christmas. Two carts later we left smiling because we got some great deals. Shop in the isles here can be a little overwhelming for some people, because there is just so much to look at. Just take a deep breath, relax and take one isle at a time. :)

I know it's a weird thing to review, but I hunted a solid part of today for a Christmas wreath. I looked at Target, Walmart, World Market, Pier One....lots of places. And the most original pieces I saw were at Michael's. I ended up getting a "swag"-style wreath (never heard that word in that context) that used bright colors (jewel toned purple, blue and green) with glitter, ribbon and pinecones I think. They had a huge variety of reusable wreaths that ranged a lot from casual, to traditional to regal to contemporary to very high end looking wreaths. I settled with a casual, contemporary "swag" that I'm very happy with. It came in under budget. I attached some photos of other styles of wreath that I was equally impressed with.

Today I picked up a charming Nutcracker in a blue & white uniform banging on a drum.

The staff has always taken the time to greet me as I walk in, take a look at my RC car and help me figure out what's wrong and tell me exactly what I need to do or in some cases even show me what to do. I've had such a positive experience every time I've been here! They recently (June 2024) added some fun tracks in the back for customers to use! You can also rent the cars to use back there if you don't have your own. A suspended obstacle course, a drift track and a couple other tracks. If you are into rc cars, or have someone in the family who is, this is definitely a place for you to try out!

Now there is a shelf about half full of the same modes. Nothing to choose from that's good quality models. And the paint section has been bare since at least January of this year. It's like none of the paints or cements or primers have been replaced with new stock. I drove a half hour just to get some paints for my model car I bought, and it is very disappointing. Bare shelves, nothing getting restocked. I'm done going there. I have spent a lot of money at that store in the past, now it's just a ghost of its former self. Better off going to hobby lobby or just Amazon.

I was not disappointed! The store is quite large and filled with items in so many categories. There are silk plants and flowers and a myriad if vessels. Planters and vases. Fir the artist, there are colored pencils, markers, paints, brushes, easels and canvas. In the back are frames if many styles and sizes plus you can custom frame your art. I always like perusing the seasonal section of craft stores and Hobby Lobby has a huge area dedicated to all things summer. Vibrant colored melamine dishes and serving pieces for your patio or garden. Plastic glasses, serving trays, bbq tools and so much more! Lots if fun and whimsical items too. I picked up a pack colorful 5" toothpicks perfect for appetizer platters during these pandemic times. Also grabbed some whimsical dish towels. Lots and lots of modern country and an entire aisle filled with every kind of lantirn and style you can imagine. They also carry a vast assortment of outdoor cushions and pillows made with sun protected fabrics for your patio and garden. The pillows came in so many vibrant colors, patterns and even shapes. I fell in love with a rattan pillow with 2 parrots on the front. Darn, if only it matched my décor. I was able to find a navy blue and white geometric pillow perfect for the Chase on my balcony I was pleasantly surprised to find so many home décor items. They were organized throughout the store on kiosks by style. For beachy and cozy cottage décor; modern farmhiuse; mid century modern; teen decor; and even an entire display of every kind of pink flamingo one would want - if pink flamingos are your thing!!! Passing the shelves loaded with glass vases, I noticed a short round vase with a silver band around the top, the perfect mid century modern vase for fresh flowers, perfect for style. Even better since it was on sale for $4.99! It immediately went into my shopping basket. So for a random first time visit into this store, I ended up with an assortment of items that I never knew I needed, but absolutely had to have. Will definitely keep this store in mind any time I'm in the Clackamas area. It is always worth a run through.
