The parking was easy and the store was clean. Good first impression. Now, I don't always understand the reason a store is organized the way it is, and I understand they want everyone to wander the store. This store is rather confusing, since it feels as if partial departments are throughout the store. I did not find what I needed, but in the clearance area, I did find some fun things. The prices were more "on sale" than clearance, but the price felt fair. In the sales floor, I didn't find anyone that could help, but at the register a very nice guy helped me. They have a self checkout line, unless you pay with cash. They are not set up to accept cash in the self checkout line. So, the place seems good and I will probably go again. It's worth checking out. read more

This store has been here forever. I remember coming here as a kid and picking out rubber stamps. Now, as an adult, I still enjoy perusing the crafting goods. Especially on a leisure Sunday. As of recently, Alec helping at the self check out area has been such a joy to come in contact with. Very friendly, jovial and eager to help everybody in line, even multitasking and helping multiple people at once. Appreciate the fantastic service. read more

Michael's is a one-stop-shop for all of your hobby and maker needs. I have been shopping at Michael's for over twenty years, and I am never disappointed. I am not crazy about the new checkout system: 'Self Check' but you are monitored and harassed by the checkout monitors so badly that it is difficult to check out. I understand the loss prevention aspect of this system, but make up your mind - self check or cashier. Both is overwhelming. read more

Michaels - I prefer to be left alone at self check illtellyawhat - Art Supplies Near Me - Palm Desert, California

From the unfriendly self checkout to the exorbitant fees that are charged for blowing up balloons, Michaels is certainly not a store I would frequent. They are definitely not handicap friendly either. No electric carts, the regular carts are not allowed outside the store and no one to help. I will definitely not go there for anything i can fond somewhere else. read more

Lousy service. I went in at 4:30pm today. I was walking all over trying to find an item, not a single employee in the store but the guy working the self check out. Does Michael's not believe in hiring anyone? How greedy can a company be? I will not be returning to this or any other Michaels. I asked the self check out employee where decorative rocks were and he told me aisle 13 or 14. I went, nothing. Returned to tell him they were not there and he said "They are on the end." I said the end cap is different than telling someone aisle 13 or 14. I go, NOTHING! What are you doing for the money you make there? Obviously you don't know your store. This place is a joke! read more

Was happy to see they are trying to cover some of what was lost when Joannes shut down. The fabric is nice, and looks like a great deal but without prices on the actual bolts it makes shopping very difficult. Do they really expect the employees to return each bolt of fabric to it's correct slot? Right now you have to take the number from the bolt and then scan the shelves for that number to find out price. The cutter was exasperated when I mentioned it to her, she hears it in stereo everyday I'm sure! This will not work. I hope Michael's listens. Because Joannes didn't. read more

This is a positive review for Nicole solely. Michaels website claims they will deliver balloons, but when we tried to place a balloon delivery, it kept giving an error message. It appears this has been a problem for a very long time not just a temporary situation. It was extremely irritating when trying to get something done to send a gift. After placing a balloon order at Michaels with DoorDash, the Dasher did NOT get the balloons filled EITHER. This was incredibly frustrating. Nicole saved the day by filling all the balloons and getting them in our car and going above and beyond to do so on a very big order which was needed on a very short timeline. In short, Nicole was a rockstar and we appreciated her help a lot. Michael's needs to fix their website and needs to train more of their staff to care like Nicole clearly does. read more

I did an online/drop off order for custom framing. The price was great, and it said my item would be ready in 5-10 days after drop off. When I dropped it off, they said it would be ready in 14-21 days. When I protested, they said the soonest I could have it was 13 days - maybe, but they couldn't guarantee it. I took it somewhere else. read more

I love this store, especially before a holiday because they bring in all the holiday decor to drcorate your house. And for Halloween and Christmas the have a whole miniature village with individual pieces you can buy to create a little town. And they do great picture framing too. And for Christmas they have hundreds of ornaments for your tree. And they carry many fake trees for the holiday. read more

Love this Michael's! I've been shopping here on a weekly basis for almost a year. With that "level" of shopping, there's bound to be a few hiccups in a transaction here and there. For example I have received canvases that arrived torn in a online order and several occasions.... No big deal. Litzie and Nicole always friendly and helpful when doing the exchange. read more

Went there yesterday to simply get new glass on a picture frame that had broken. Waited over 40 minutes in the line and the gal never looked up once and told any of us she would be with us shortly. Finally when I asked if I could simply just drop mine off to get new glass the lady said no I had to keep waiting. I took it today to Hobby Lobby off Bob Hope at 11:30am today. They said it would probably be 48 hours. They just called me that it's ready! Do not waste your time or money for the terrible customer service at Michael's!!! read more

They need to improve their service! management sucks! I went in there yesterday bought four mason jars at 3.99 each and was charged $82.57. Called to speak to a manager? there's nothing they can do cause the lady at the counter never gave me my receipt and I didn't ask for it. Shame on me. The phone call this morning with management was rude. read more

A nice store with a fantastic selection of beads, charms, findings and jewelry supplies. Came in for the 30% off beads as advertised online. But in fact, was just online. Also, the popular and strong nylon beading string is more than double the price than HL. While I loved the beads, they are beyond overpriced. Bit the bullet and ordered online from a bead store for at least 50% less than Michael's. read more

I went to Michaels almost at closing time to pick up some more flowers to finished a project im working on but the rack of flowers was not there, after asking a worker he called the manager I believe her name is Nichole, (i hope the name is right but if not she's the manager working tonight Wednesday August 13th) Anyway, she went out of her way to bring me a bucket of the flowers i was looking for from the back room so i could get what i needed . She even helped me pick some that were not missing any flowers. I really appreciate her help, specially because my centerpieces im working on are for a funeral and they decided to add more to their order last minute. With people willing to help customers like she helped me i don't mind the drive My experience at a "hobby" store near me aren't always the best so next time i will just drive out there read more

This place is mid at best. Aisles upon aisles of Christmas stuff and a single damn end cap for Hanukkah. Not beating the anti-semitic allegations. I saw an old lady yell at the girl at the register over it. Like poor girl doesn't do the store plan! The employees are clearly trying their very best, but there simply isn't enough coverage or diversity in holiday items. Do better Michael read more

I ordered an item for pickup and was foolish not to check it out before taking it home. It was late at night so I just took the bag and headed home. When I finally had the chance to really look at my purchase, it was very obvious the item had been used, and the package was taped up. The store was already closed so I had to wait to return it. Today I went to return and explain the reason, the cashier was very rude and basically accused me of using it. She never came out and said those words but she kept saying they would never give an item to a customer in that condition. Never once did she acknowledge that maybe I was telling the truth and she could have easily offered to replace the item with a new one. After talking with her manager, she tried giving me store credit, which I refused. I demanded a refund on my credit card since it was not my fault I was returning. After consulting with her manager again, I was told she could give me the refund " this one time" , meaning she still thought I was the one that used the product before returning it. Very poor choice of words and poor customer service. She was more intent on accusing me of something I did not do. I suggest anyone who purchases online for pickup, check your purchase, BEFORE leaving the store. Employees do make mistakes unfortunately, and it's hard to prove once you walk out that door read more

I get being busy and overwhelmed with acquiring things from Joannes but I was offered no help in bringing a 5 shelf bin rolling storage up front. No staff to wave down for assistance and no carts in sight. It was baffling. And as someone who is 4'9 and in a knee brace, it was astonishing to see no one offer to help and actively look away. When I asked for a bag for the small items I also had I was told it would be ten cents. Still, no offer to help. Genuinely disappointed. read more

Made an appointment online for In Store Custom Framing. I used to go to Joann Fabrics. I went at the appointment time and was told it would be a long wait as she was by herself. I said I had an appointment. She said " Oh we don't use that system. I told them to take it down.". Walking through the store looked like the most depressing, dreary, empty shelves place I have seen in a long time. Are they going out of business? I walked out. read more

We dropped off a painting to be reframed and were told it would be ready in a couple of days. Two weeks later, we still have not heard from anyone. We tried to call, but after one ring, the phone hangs up. Several more tries over the next couple of days and the phone still hangs up automatically. We called their other store in the desert and the employee told us that that's been a problem for several months and we would have to complain to the corporate office. Is this any way to run a business? Terrible! We will never shop there again. read more

If I could give zero starts for the framing dept I would. After 2-1/2 weeks of dropping of a custom framing order, I was told it would be ready on 11/11. Went in to pick up my $700+ order , not done. Suzy asked "well did you get a call?" Me: I didn't know I was supposed to get a call. After ages on her computer she said - it won't be ready until the end of the day. Me: so nothing has taken place since I dropped off my artwork? Suzy: No it's on our list. Me: So there's a 70% off sign in front of me but I paid in advance, so I'll just cancel the order and reorder it. Suzy: That will take 2 more weeks. Me: Why? Suzy: Your frame is out of stock. Me: so how would it have been ready if it's out of stock? Suzy: Let me check, (few minutes go by) both frames are here from Texas. So what are you asking? (now I'm wondering how she has a job) I'm asking to get the 70% off custom framing. She returns, they said we can't make any price adjustment. Me: who's they? Suzy: my manager Ok can I speak with said manager? "He's on his lunch break" Out pops Jose. It doesn't work that way, you can't cancel an order then reorder it. (trying to figure out wtf he's talking about) These folks are the dumbest retail employees I've ever met. Then he said it was a custom order. Me: yes and my art has been here nearly 3 weeks, and I prepaid for custom framed art and now it's 70% off, but you can't do anything? ""no, it doesn't work that way" Both insulting employees with zero customer skills. Got my art back and demanded full refund. Do not go to Micheals for custom framing read more

This review is not specific to Michaels, the store itself. I go there all the time and it's almost often well-stocked and clean. This review is for the recent visit to the framing department in the back of the store where I was "greeted" by an obviously unhappy employee. I was very taken aback by his attitude and complete lack of enthusiasm towards me, but I went ahead and paid to get my artwork framed anyway. There are not a lot of choices in the area of places to frame art, and Michaels has always been my go to. read more

In regard to Michael's customer service...wait, there isn't any! If you call, no one picks up the phone. Or they will pick up and then hang up to get rid of the call. I had to wait in the long line at the cash register, with only one checker just to ask a question because THERE WASNT ANOTHER EMPLOYEE VISIBLE IN THE STORE. Their employees are clearly not trained as they consistently don't know where items in the store are located. Is the store managed? Apparently not. read more

Stopped by at 8:20 PM and the doors were locked. Two employees walked past but would not make eye contact. Double checked the door and then the website to see what time they close on Saturday evening and sure enough, it's 9 PM! I called to see if maybe the door was not working?! (Hey, you never now!) I was asked to hold while they put me on hold and waited for about five minutes before giving up. read more

I try very hard to not shop at hobby lobby because of their abhorrent views on women and the LGBTQ+ community. I also despise using amazon because of the workers' rights abuses. I shop at Michael's even though it's a 30 minute drive from my house and hobby lobby is a 5 minute drive from my house. Online ordering and pickup in store is supposed to make the shopping process seamless and easy, I've used other stores online order pick up in store system, and it's easy (target and barnes & noble are examples). But I placed an order for a single item (a bucket of scissors with decorative edges) and I got an email saying it was ready. I was tied up and my family member was out running errands in that neighborhood, so I put her name down as another pickup person. 2 hours after the email saying the item was ready, my family member showed up and they said it wasn't ready. At the store, the associate said it wasn't ready, which is confusing because again, it's a single item and I had received an email two hours earlier saying it was ready. The associate was actually able to locate the item in question but still could not hand it over to my family member without permission from a manager. I have no idea why. Said manager was busy in the framing department. I called the store several times and no one was able to answer or even put me on hold. On the online customer service help kiosk, I had to wait nearly 30 minutes for help. Eventually the online customer service kiosk associate told me the item had been cancelled, which is confusing because I did not cancel the item, and no one else has access to my account. If the store had cancelled my item, I would've gotten an email saying so, but I did not. The online customer service agent said "maybe the order was cancelled because the store gave the item to someone else", which is crazy because I did not get an email saying so, AND the in-store associate had the item in question in her hands, which makes me think they did not give it to someone else. I have not been refunded for the money, and yet the online customer service associate suggested I just go and buy the item separate from the online order. Which, sure, I could do that. But that would mean an hour of driving for me, not to mention the time my family member wasted trying to go pick it up when she was there in-store. Even if I did go an buy the item, I'd be paying for the same item twice because I have no confirmation that the item has been cancelled. And it defeats *the whole purpose* of buy online pickup in store. I've wasted my time and my family member's time and I'm incredibly frustrated and unsatisfied with both the in-store team at Michael's in Palm Desert, California on Fred Waring as well as the online customer service read more

They often answer the phone then hang up. They will charge you to frame a picture but won't cut it down to fit frame, they asked me to do it. Let me start by saying, I am not a crafty person. But for some reason I decided to take up crocheting because it seemed much easier than knitting. I know Michaels was the place to go. This Michaels is nicely located off of Fred Waring. Parking is ample; I always find open parking under the shade toward the street! Score! The store is nice and carries a huge variety of flowers. I feel like they have way more stock than other stores! But coming here strengthens my theory that all Michaels smell the same. This store is seriously understaffed though. Each time I've been here, the wait has been over 10 minutes! They don't call for help when there's more than 3 people in line. There will be a wait at the frames counter, too. The girls who work here are nice, but I agree with other reviewers that it is hard to find an employee to get help. Michaels has higher prices in my opinion, but they will price match and allow you to use competitors' coupons. They get an extra star for that. read more

I took a vintage poster to the Frame center here at Michaels. I needed it framed in a simple thin frame with glass or lucite. A male clerk came, measured it and gave me prices for the thin frame, using glass. He quoted the price would be $124.00. I asked if the 40% off coupon applied to this purchase and he nodded, calculated it, and again, said "$124.00". "That's the original price you gave me", I said. "What is the price with 40 percent off?" "That's the discount price. Better than 40 % off. Without the discount, it would be $445." I just looked at him, rolled my poster up and put it back in the tube. Life is too short. read more
