This is a positive review for Nicole solely. Michaels website claims they will deliver balloons, but when we tried to place a balloon delivery, it kept giving an error message. It appears this has been a problem for a very long time not just a temporary situation. It was extremely irritating when trying to get something done to send a gift. After placing a balloon order at Michaels with DoorDash, the Dasher did NOT get the balloons filled EITHER. This was incredibly frustrating. Nicole saved the day by filling all the balloons and getting them in our car and going above and beyond to do so on a very big order which was needed on a very short timeline. In short, Nicole was a rockstar and we appreciated her help a lot. Michael's needs to fix their website and needs to train more of their staff to care like Nicole clearly does. read more

I did an online/drop off order for custom framing. The price was great, and it said my item would be ready in 5-10 days after drop off. When I dropped it off, they said it would be ready in 14-21 days. When I protested, they said the soonest I could have it was 13 days - maybe, but they couldn't guarantee it. I ordered an item for pickup and was foolish not to check it out before taking it home. It was late at night so I just took the bag and headed home. When I finally had the chance to really look at my purchase, it was very obvious the item had been used, and the package was taped up. The store was already closed so I had to wait to return it. Today I went to return and explain the reason, the cashier was very rude and basically accused me of using it. She never came out and said those words but she kept saying they would never give an item to a customer in that condition. Never once did she acknowledge that maybe I was telling the truth and she could have easily offered to replace the item with a new one. After talking with her manager, she tried giving me store credit, which I refused. I demanded a refund on my credit card since it was not my fault I was returning. After consulting with her manager again, I was told she could give me the refund " this one time" , meaning she still thought I was the one that used the product before returning it. Very poor choice of words and poor customer service. She was more intent on accusing me of something I did not do. I suggest anyone who purchases online for pickup, check your purchase, BEFORE leaving the store. Went there yesterday to simply get new glass on a picture frame that had broken. Waited over 40 minutes in the line and the gal never looked up once and told any of us she would be with us shortly. Finally when I asked if I could simply just drop mine off to get new glass the lady said no I had to keep waiting. I took it today to Hobby Lobby off Bob Hope at 11:30am today. They said it would probably be 48 hours. They just called me that it's ready! Do not waste your time or money for the terrible customer service at Michael's!!! read more

I love this store, especially before a holiday because they bring in all the holiday decor to drcorate your house. And for Halloween and Christmas the have a whole miniature village with individual pieces you can buy to create a little town. And they do great picture framing too. And for Christmas they have hundreds of ornaments for your tree. And they carry many fake trees for the holiday. read more

A nice store with a fantastic selection of beads, charms, findings and jewelry supplies. Came in for the 30% off beads as advertised online. But in fact, was just online. Also, the popular and strong nylon beading string is more than double the price than HL. While I loved the beads, they are beyond overpriced. I went to Michaels almost at closing time to pick up some more flowers to finished a project im working on but the rack of flowers was not there, after asking a worker he called the manager I believe her name is Nichole, (i hope the name is right but if not she's the manager working tonight Wednesday August 13th) Anyway, she went out of her way to bring me a bucket of the flowers i was looking for from the back room so i could get what i needed . She even helped me pick some that were not missing any flowers. I get being busy and overwhelmed with acquiring things from Joannes but I was offered no help in bringing a 5 shelf bin rolling storage up front. No staff to wave down for assistance and no carts in sight. It was baffling. And as someone who is 4'9 and in a knee brace, it was astonishing to see no one offer to help and actively look away. We tried to call, but after one ring, the phone hangs up. Several more tries over the next couple of days and the phone still hangs up automatically. We called their other store in the desert and the employee told us that that's been a problem for several months and we would have to complain to the corporate office. This review is for the recent visit to the framing department in the back of the store where I was "greeted" by an obviously unhappy employee. I try very hard to not shop at hobby lobby because of their abhorrent views on women and the LGBTQ+ community. I also despise using amazon because of the workers' rights abuses. I shop at Michael's even though it's a 30 minute drive from my house and hobby lobby is a 5 minute drive from my house. Online ordering and pickup in store is supposed to make the shopping process seamless and easy, I've used other stores online order pick up in store system, and it's easy (target and barnes & noble are examples). But I placed an order for a single item (a bucket of scissors with decorative edges) and I got an email saying it was ready. I was tied up and my family member was out running errands in that neighborhood, so I put her name down as another pickup person. 2 hours after the email saying the item was ready, my family member showed up and they said it wasn't ready. At the store, the associate said it wasn't ready, which is confusing because again, it's a single item and I had received an email two hours earlier saying it was ready. The associate was actually able to locate the item in question but still could not hand it over to my family member without permission from a manager. I have no idea why. Said manager was busy in the framing department. I called the store several times and no one was able to answer or even put me on hold. On the online customer service help kiosk, I had to wait nearly 30 minutes for help. Eventually the online customer service kiosk associate told me the item had been cancelled, which is confusing because I did not cancel the item, and no one else has access to my account. If the store had cancelled my item, I would've gotten an email saying so, but I did not. The online customer service agent said "maybe the order was cancelled because the store gave the item to someone else", which is crazy because I did not get an email saying so, AND the in-store associate had the item in question in her hands, which makes me think they did not give it to someone else. I have not been refunded for the money, and yet the online customer service associate suggested I just go and buy the item separate from the online order. Which, sure, I could do that. But that would mean an hour of driving for me, not to mention the time my family member wasted trying to go pick it up when she was there in-store. Even if I did go an buy the item, I'd be paying for the same item twice because I have no confirmation that the item has been cancelled. And it defeats *the whole purpose* of buy online pickup in store. They often answer the phone then hang up. They will charge you to frame a picture but won't cut it down to fit frame, they asked me to do it. Strangest experience I've had with framing but there are very few choices for large frames in Palm desert. I think that's why they get away with the worst service. read more

This Michaels is nicely located off of Fred Waring. Parking is ample; I always find open parking under the shade toward the street! Score! The store is nice and carries a huge variety of flowers. I feel like they have way more stock than other stores! But coming here strengthens my theory that all Michaels smell the same. This store is seriously understaffed though. Each time I've been here, the wait has been over 10 minutes! They don't call for help when there's more than 3 people in line. There will be a wait at the frames counter, too. The girls who work here are nice, but I agree with other reviewers that it is hard to find an employee to get help. Michaels has higher prices in my opinion, but they will price match and allow you to use competitors' coupons. They get an extra star for that. read more

I took a vintage poster to the Frame center here at Michaels. I needed it framed in a simple thin frame with glass or lucite. A male clerk came, measured it and gave me prices for the thin frame, using glass. He quoted the price would be $124.00. I asked if the 40% off coupon applied to this purchase and he nodded, calculated it, and again, said "$124.00". "That's the original price you gave me", I said. "What is the price with 40 percent off?" "That's the discount price. Better than 40 % off. Without the discount, it would be $445." I went to pick up some markers for my son that he really wanted. We were shopping all day and I was using Apple Pay at every store no problem. I went to Michaels in Palm Desert for our last stop. The markers were originally $75 but were on sale for $39! I grabbed a few more things and we headed to pay. When I get to the register they tell me unfortunately they don't have Apple Pay. I only had about $30 cash and my total was close to $70! One of the associates in the store said " don't worry about it. I'll pay for it." Me and my son were shook over his generosity. I don't like this Michaels store. It is crowded, parking a problem. Online order pickup is back in framing, so if you are shopping and picking up you have to wait in two lines (unlike at Joann Fabrics). They ring things up way too fast - resulting in double charges, coupon problems, etc. Be sure and check your receipt before leaving - or better yet tell them to ring thing up SLOWLY so you can see exactly what they are doing. read more

This is what the old-style Michael's used to look like. It's very cramped in there. Nothing bugs me more than retail stores and grocery stores that put merch in the middle of the main aisle making it extremely hard for 2 people to pass each other. It was very hard for me to get help at 9:30am with 2 other customers in the store. It was 12/7 and they were completely out of Xmas gift bags and most Xmas merch which I think is really weird. I've never had problems going to their stores during this time of year for my Xmas needs. I think the Palm Springs location is way better and bigger. read more
