I had never been into a Five Below and had no idea what they sold. I was picking up fancy refrigerated dog food next door at PetSmart and thought I'd wander in and see what they sold. Was it refrigerated items? The name Five Below made me wonder. As I popped in, a very friendly guy said hello and welcomed me, but not in an insincere way. (I'm always a bit sus about that) I started to realize this was an upgraded 99 Cent store with a $5 limit, and was curious to explore. I really responded well to the nice lighting, cool oversized signage and clean feel of the store. I saw items that are at better prices than other stores, but I wondered how people knew what to purchase here. I think you must just go in and endeavor to buy stuff you would normally buy elsewhere for more. Although I left without a purchase, I will go back when I want to stock up on items we regularly use. Also, the guy that works there literally had his teeth sparkle when he said thank you for visiting us - I'm easily swayed by genuine appreciation.

I was immediately greeted by the very wonderful, specific smell that wafts through Hallmark stores and my senses took me back to childhood shopping excursions with my Mom to buy holiday cards at our local Hallmark. The store is chock full of cards and wrap, which makes it worth stopping here to get something unique. There are all kinds of decor and licensed products displayed in a weaving pattern which made the floor pattern interesting. I have continued to shop here for my wrap and cards since first stopping in last year, knowing that there will be a selection of cards for nieces and nephews that I just can't find anywhere else. I'm happy that I can always find pretty good items at this location compared to some of my more local Home Goods. I came two days after Christmas and was honestly impressed with their inventory. After Christmas most stores are hurting and down to their bare bones items but not this home goods! I ended up finding Valentine's Day cheery decor that I've literally been hunting since last year! When I picked them up today, there was no charge by the company. In fact, there was the bag of beautifullly and thoughtfully embroidered stockings and gift cards for Val and her family. I was in shock. I think I started crying and the owner gave me a hug. What a wonderful business this is. When I dropped off the stockings, I told them why I was embroidering them; that my mom had gifted Val, her husband and kids stockings many many years ago, and they were burned up in the fire. People are good. So grateful to have found this gem of a business. They made a difference.
