I don't know what happened in the framing department, but things have gotten worse. Paintings being framed are getting lost and are not finished on time--one employee is waiting on customers and doing the framing. They do not meet their own deadline. I made three trips after the due dates, and it's still not ready. Then they couldn't find my painting. It took three people to locate it. Disorganized. read more

I walked around the store 4 times before I found ANYONE to help me. They were all standing around the self checkout, which must take 3 employees. I was told I had to do self checkout because I paid with a card. I was punished. I was not allowed to have a bag and since I had a lot of stuff, which they watched me struggling with, one of the glass items broke on the way to the car. So no checkers, except the ones standing around directing people to ZERO SERVICE. There was very little stocked. Didn't find what I came for. That was fun. You just lost a customer who has been loyal for well over a decade. Too bad your customer service team isn't loyal to their job. If they are hiring people to do nothing sign me up. The only one working was a man I found on trip 4 around the store. HE helped me. They see customers walking around confused and they just ignore you. read more

I was immediately greeted by Alonzo, who was friendly, helpful and professional. We briefly discussed my needs and he was able to complete my job is less than one hour. It came out perfectly! Don't get anything framed at this Michaels! I had a poster. Brought it in 3 weeks ago. The woman says for sure it'll be done by Sept 15. it's on the receipt too. 3 weeks go by and I don't hear a word. I call them late morning on the 15 - and it's clear they haven't started. I ask if the frame is in. They say it is. So I decide I'll drive over - get the frame and the poster and do it myself. I get there - they make me wait. They say a manager is coming. I say I just want my stuff and I'll go. 20 minutes later the manager comes up with my DAMAGED poster. They never called. Had I not gone to the store - who knows what they would have done. I took my stuff and left. Make the customer do all the work - has never applied more. read more

AMAZING framing team here. I came in with some art I wanted framed but had NO idea how to approach or what would look best. I came in fearful, but the minute I walked up, Inga was there with a big smile, warm heart and tons of expertise. Inga not only has a wealth of knowledge and expertise, but she took the time to learn about my space and how best to frame the pieces so they would work well where I would be hanging them. Really appreciate this personalization and going far, far above and beyond. Madison and Ken were also stellar and it's clear they are all a cohesive team that really supports each other which benefits the customer too. Awful framing, untrained employees. All we needed was a matting cut to fit a frame we purchased there, not only do it take the employee almost 1 hour to input the measurements, come to find out that no one there is trained to do this simple task so they had to send it out. 2 weeks later, after receiving no call it was ready, we checked to see, and sure enough it was done. We get it home and went to put it in the frame and it didn't fit!! We had to cut off 1/4inch ourselves. We will definitely never use them again read more

I have been to this Michael's location a number of times over the past two years to have them repair damages done to a number of our art pieces in a cross-country move to the area. They have done different things on different pieces: a large oil on board had to be framed; a block of postage stamps and a photo had to be custom matted and framed; the shattered glass in a larger framed poster had to be replaced with non-glare glass and the hanging wire replaced; the torn paper backing on one piece had to be replaced; a framed animation cell had to be opened, repositioned and resealed - you get the idea. Each job was done in a timely, professional, excellent manner - and I found their prices to be extremely competitive when compared to other framing shops in the area where I had gotten estimates for some of the work. Everyone I have dealt with here has been extremely helpful in walking me through my options and costs on each job. Most recently I have been helped by Inga who I believe is the framing department manager, Brittany, and Madison. All of them have been a pleasure to deal with - friendly, helpful and professional. I will be doing business with them again and based on my experiences, I can recommend their services without reservation. read more

So, I had a package that was dropped off by UPS here (it's a UPS location where they put your packages if they're unable to be delivered.) Well, some Karen of Karens, some woman who ignited fear into the eyes of customer service workers across this great nation, comes out to lock the door while I'm on the phone with UPS. A UPS rep told me my package was delivered to Michael's and it could currently be picked up. I turned around and nearly walked into the door because Queen Karen had turned off the automatic door opening mechanism. She stated at me and I stared at her though the glass while the UPS rep was going on and on about how it could be picked up. But, Karen, the Minivan Monster wouldn't budge. As we stared at one another while the UPS drone began to call out, "sir, sir, hello? Sir?" I pulled out my phone, pointed it at her and before her low-wattage brain could figure out what was happening I snapped a photo. She shrieked in horror as I cracked a smile. This woman may have won the battle, but the photo I just captured would fit right at home in some subreddits I'm certain she won't find flattering. Alas the only place to buy art supplies in PS. Poorly stocked, subpar merchandise, no one around to help since they're understaffed. Then for added insult the checkout line is always tedious and slow as the cashiers ask people to pull up their emails to find the Michael's loyalty discount, which owing to the generally slow mindset of the clientele here in PS always takes forever. However, the employees at this Michael's location are always very rude and dismissive about locating your package "in the back." I'm having a nightmare with the framing dept. Almost a month ago I purchased off-the-shelf frames for two large photos and was told they would be ready by 11/30 so I could mail them for Christmas. Now on 12/11, they still aren't ready. I spoke with the manager today and she asked me if I had left the pictures with them? Really? Why on earth would I be asking for the completed project if I had not given them the pictures?? I took a chance and had my fine art photo framed here. They damaged the pristine piece with creases on the top and bottom, I had to take the frame back for them to take my now damaged photo (worth hundreds of dollars) out so I can hopefully get it fixed and properly framed elsewhere. To begin with, I'm not a fan of Yelp so I really have to be pissed to write a bad review. Tonight at seven I stopped by to pick up some Christmas items. Great I thought, not busy and no customers so I can get in and out easily. I took my items to the cashier ( there were two, each with a customer) I waited twelve minuets while there was chatter and lots of phone usage and NO ONE said a word like maybe.......we're sorry sir it won't be long or possibly ,will open another register or at least a nod or indication that someone noticed I had been standing there so long. I'm retired from many years of retail but perhaps Michaels would like me to come in and teach the value of CUSTOMER SERVICE as Michaels management clearly does not value its importance. read more

Just left Michael's Palm Desert where I was treated like a customer who is appreciated. This is in sharp contrast to recent experiences in Palm Springs where my last 2 visits have made me feel like an unwanted intruder. In Palm Springs last night only one person in line ahead and one clerk working. Cashier seemed like a new-hire because she wasn't able to complete the transaction for the customer-who actually was an employee. Oblivious to real customers - myself and another behind me now, they continued to wrestle with the problem with the employee reaching around the plastic screen to punch keys. They both called out loudly to a manager-type called Crystal. Rude. After some minutes she came over, still trying to correct the issue-still oblivious to the real line. Could go on, but to wrap up, dropped my (small) purchases at an empty register. Told "Crystal" I was leaving. She said someone was on the way. Too late. Previous disinterested sort of behavior during a previous visit. Will spare you. Go to Palm Desert-or even Hobby Lobby instead. read more

I would give them zero stars if I could. These guys are TERRIBLE! UPS said the package was here on Tuesday. I went there on Tuesday, none package. I was told to call the next day. I called Wednesday at 1:47 pm and was told that it was there. So I drive halfway across town a second day. When I get there they say they can't find it AGAIN. They use the same excuse that they gave me the day before. But I WAS TOLD BY THE PERSON on the phone that it was there. Stupid for me for trusting them and not asking for the person's name. I Love Aranxa! She is one of the managers in the framing company in the front of the store. In case you didn't know, the frame shop in the front of the shop (Aaron brothers) is not directly connected to the store Michaels. Meaning, you cannot use the awesome 40% off one single item or buy 1 get one that are in the Sunday newspaper. They are separate and charge separate in pricing,. I recently had a great experience there and it was the because the manager there, Aranxa (great name, huh?) helped me out. I got these great artsy prints of my Doberman Pinscher online and was in desperate need of the right frame. She was so helpful and showed me how I could still utilize my coupons and purchase the perfect frame. She offered a custom frame and showed me my options and then showed me frames on the showroom floor that could also accommodate my needs. She helped my print get showcased in the right frame and helped me with coupons situation and my budget. I have to say, I was impressed and it was enough to ask how to spell her name correctly so I would be able to write a well deserved Yelp. Check out Aranxa and the frame shop in this Michael's! As for Michael's, this store is gigantic and usually has everything you need in stock. It's a true gem in the Coachella valley complete with a friendly staff and the perfect craft or that extra something you need to finish your holiday door decorating. read more

Employees are hard to find to assist in the purchase of items, when asking the cashier the only employee i could find seemed extremly upset that she had to call for customer assistance Limited stock on jewelry display items and employees say they are unable to know when the items will be restocked as they only get 1 delivery a week usually on Thursday But it could take a couple days to restock the item as jewelry and jewelry displays are tge last to be stocked ( PER MANAGER) AS THERE ARE SO MANY DIFFERENT SMALL ITEMS ITS NOW 2 WEEKS AND I'M STILL WAITING FOR ITEMS TO BE RESTOCKED I GIVE THEM 1 STAR FOR MERCHANDISE AND ZERO STARS FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE read more

The customer service at this location is deplorable. Of the dozens of times I have shopped at this store, not once have I been greeted or asked if I am finding everything ok. When I do track down an employee to ask where something is, they seem put out. The best you'll get is a finger point and an "If we have it, it's over there." Don't expect to be greeted at checkout, either. Even when I approach with a friendly, "Hello, how are you?" I get no response. The last time I went in, the cashier was too busy talking to a fellow employee to even acknowledge me during the transaction. She didn't even bother to say my total! Look, I get it. I also work in retail and understand how exacerbating it can be sometimes, but you don't take it out on friendly customers. My advice for management is to maybe try to understand what is making your team so miserable that they can't be bothered to assist people. I was spending upwards of $100 a month here but haven't shopped here since my last awful experience a few months ago. The prices are always better online but I wanted to keep my money in the valley. Unfortunately, I will not return to this Michael's store. In a pinch, the Palm Desert store is slightly better. read more

The michaels at 2465 e Palm canyon dr. In smoke tree commons Palm Springs California is the rudest store I've been in. This is the second time in 5 yrs I've had to write this complaint. The first time corporate was good about making them apologize but it happened again and I won't stand for it. And neither should anyone else. They PROFILE, follow, harassing the customer, and making the whole shopping experience a nightmare. After 10 min I turned to the worker who just had to be straightening things 2 inc from me and said...... I don't steal, and I've had this problem before, she got all defensive started raising her voice and said don't threaten her!! How was that a threat? I said I was just telling u what I've been through, then she said you dont have to tell me anything. Then proceeded to call security scans on every isle I went down. I say go to hobby lobby it was and is absurd how rude they are there. I'll tell u what, show me proof I've ever stole and then you can be that rude to me. But I SPEND ALOT OF MONEY there, well did, now it's time for my lawyer to handle it. read more

Their Aaron Brother's framing service is HORRIBLE! I'm not sure if the businesses are connected but for what I paid and what I got it was embarrassing. Customer service isn't the best either. Fairly new store in the Smoke Tree Commons! At times, customer service can be somewhat lacking. I have been completely ignored at check out before, where the cashier is just wordlessly scanning my items and then just points at the total when it is time to pay. It also seems like more often than not, the clerks working at check-out are grouchy. For some reason, this location has a hard time stocking RIT fabric dye. In a 5 week period, I went to the store 4 times to buy kelly green dye. Not once has it been on the shelf. I have asked for help and the clerks have found that there is no overstock. A little bit ridiculous, I ended up ordering the dye online which was more costly. Never had a problem finding anything else stocked, though. The store does always appear clean. I don't think my experience would stop me from going to Michael's again, as this is really the only option for craft supplies in Palm Springs. read more

If I could give a zero I would. Just attempted to purchase 2 gift cards, $25 on each card. One gift card showed activated on receipt, the other gift card indicated it was not activated and showed a zero balance. However the cashier was still able to charge $50 on my debt card. The cashier could not figure out how to correct it, and the manager tried as well. I finally asked for a refund, the manager could not figure out how to credit my card back. During this entire process the manager was rude, and kept telling me that the card was activated, even when the receipt clearly stated it wasn't. She told me to come back tomorrow and speak with the manager Crystal, "maybe she knows something we dont" was her response. She said " here just take it" and dropped the worthless gift cards on the counter. " there's nothing I can do" was told to me several times with a very rude tone. Then she just literally walked away without another word. I shop at this store alot, but won't anymore. read more

Came in for an online order pickup and to buy an item I found online that was in store only. I looked and looked and couldn't find the bouquet I saw on the website. I asked a man at the cash register about the bouquet and showed him a picture from the website. He says it would be in the floral section and points. No sh*t, Sherlock. I spent about 20 minutes combing the store for that bouquet with no success. Frustrated, I decide to just pick up my pre-purchased item and pass on ever finding the bouquet. I tell him I'm picking up an item I already bought online. He doesn't bother asking me if I could find the bouquet and also doesn't seem to know how pick-ups work(despite the numerous store signs that read "Buy Online - Pickup In Store!") and he pages someone to ask if I need to pay for it. I again let him know that online items are already bought and paid for, I just need to pick it up. I guess I look like a liar or a thief because he keeps trying to page someone who knows how Michael's operates(seriously though, how can you not know how these things work at your own job?) and woman emerges from the back and says that yes, they're always paid for. He then goes to get my item, a decorative chalkboard. What he brings is a USED, already written on board that was *poorly* wiped away, leaving white wipe marks covering it. Looked like employees were playing with it in the back room. I figured I could clean up the mess the employees made on my purchase and left. I just wanted to be done. I left the store, without the bouquet I wanted so much and with a USED chalkboard I had to give a good cleaning to to make it look new. I can see by the looks of previous reviews that I'm not alone in my frustration and disappointment. Save yourself the migraine - SHOP PALM DESERT's LOCATION! They have a ton more stuff anyways. This was NOT the type of customer service or shopping experience I've come to expect from Michael's. But then again, I'm use to the PD location. read more
