The holidays are stressful at stores. I can't imagine how stressful they are for people who work at retail stores. I have had consistently excellent service at this particular Michael's... everyone is always kind, friendly, helpful and patient. I had a crazy problem with an online order and checker Eileen was so incredibly helpful, kind and professional. When she had call in her manager, Christine, it was easy to see that this level of service and patience was coming from the top down. She was helpful, understanding, patient and determined to take care of the problem. I was so pleased and impressed with both of them that I just wrote my first Yelp review. Kudos to whatever is going on at this Michael's as far as management and hiring goes. I frequent this location and I'm always walking away so happy that there are still people like this in the world. read more

I can't thank Becky (Manager of Custom Framing) enough for her exceptional customer service and support in handling a frame job. There was a confusion initially in communication of frame sizes which I didn't catch in my paperwork thus giving me two separate sized frames for art to be hung together. I brought the issue to Becky's attention and she resolved the problem without any cost to me. I am so impressed and grateful for her professionalism and kindness. what I love .... Shopping at a store, and when my CHILD needs to use the restroom and it's closed over an HOUR before closing time. And the blonde kid who doesn't give a crap a child needing to use the restroom. So I'm not sorry for leaving my basket and bolting. As an adult I can hold it. A CHILD can not. And refusing someone a bathroom when they need is is beyond bad customer service. So no I will take my business elsewhere and let all my crafter friends know that a child's health isn't important to Michael's. Oh and that same blonde kid literally watched me circle the store looking for things and never once asked if I needed help or even acknowledged me. read more

I just went to Michael's today. I love arts and crafts, and wanted a caddy for pens and crayons. ECT. I was unable to find them anywhere else. I found some really good ones at Michael's today. And they were very reasonably priced four dollars. They have six little holders for crayons pens, etc. They also had a variety of wonderful colors. The customer service is awesome. You guys should probably retrain your employees. Tina apparently can't work the register. Rang up the stuff wrong , was WAY to slow. Then wanted to give us 20% off and at that point we were just ready to leave. Proceeded to do it anyways after we told her we didn't care because it's literally like 40 cents off our total didn't help that it was ONLY her and no one would come up to help till like 2 minutes before she was finally done. Poorest excuse for a craft store I have ever seen. Been in there several times and every time the store is half stocked, a total mess, carts of merch all over and no one doing a damn thing about it. Mgmt is a buffoon that lies about stock. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME IN THIS DUMP!! Head across the street to Hobby Lobby that has everything and at better prices!! I walked into this Michaels today for one thing: watercolor pencils. I know the store fairly well so I didn't need help, but if I did, no one particularly made an effort to help me. As an example, when I walked in I saw one associate at the front of the store working on a display. Another associate was walking up the aisle right in front of me, and instead of saying "hello" or "welcome" or even making eye contact, she *avoided* talking to me and instead started talking to the associate working on the display. I found the pencils I was looking for on a display marked with a 40% sign but later realized that the sign was only for certain items on the display - a good way to make life miserable for the cashiers who probably have to tell a dozen disgruntled customers a day that the signs don't cover all the items on the shelf. I headed down the aisle where I knew the watercolor supplies were. Yet another associate was stocking the shelves *right in front of me* and never said anything to me - even when it was obvious that I was lingering and indecisive and maybe could have used some feedback on what was in stock. I used to work in retail and if I were their manager, we would be having a team meeting about the lack of customer service in that store. Despite the paltry to non-existent customer service, this is the closest art supply to my house without having to drive all the way to Boise and sometimes you can find good deals there. They also have frequent coupons to keep you coming back for more. Just don't expect anyone to offer to help you with it. read more

I went there 2 days in a row with coupons first day could not get the coupon to load from email this place sent me. Second day I went in with coupon loaded and was RUDELY told I could not use on purchase. Never asked if I was a rewards member or anything rude cashier and I will never go to that store again as they are not worth it. Go to Hobby Lobby they are so much better! read more

Typical art supply chain store. Selection is great if you are into the latest craft fad but not so much if you are trying to go your own way. I do not find the staff here to be very helpful, I guess because I have different interest than they do, but they are willing. The store as in most of the larger art stores I've seen is in disarray because of people pawing through the merchandise and the staffs inability to get it reorganized again. They put a lot of stuff that has been ruffly handled on clearance racks which is a good place to pick up some bargains but it is hit and miss if you can use the stuff. read more

typical michaels store. i've found the staff to be very helpful and accommodating. the store seemed pretty disorganized on my visit and it appeared quite a few items needed to be restocked. there were many carts filled with items set about throughout the store that created a bit of congestion. i'd shop there again, mostly because it's the only decent craft store around. the fact that my experience with the staff was pleasant really saved this place in my mind. read more

I like this store. I signed up for their emails. The emails are helpful and I can use the coupons right from my phone. The store is clean, organized and it's easy to find what your looking for. The aisle are a bit narrow and sale stuff crowds the main aisles. The staff is helpful and will track down and show you where things are a nice touch since most places just tell which aisle it's in. I love the craft projects for kids on Saturday and the craft classes. My daughter loves the $1 bins and so do I, I can get her a few things without breaking the bank. This store (chain) lacks fabric so if your a sewing queen this store won't be helpful. Their seasonal/holiday selection is great and reasonable priced. read more

The selection is fine and I do like that they offer classes in various crafts. That said I am not happy with their staff and I believe this is likely a problem with their management. When they have sales and you get to the check out I have had multiple experiences where the sale items are rung up at the normal price and when it's brought to their attention they call a manager who is openly surly about making it right. When I sent my husband and grand daughter in to buy a quick icer for cake decorating they went to Michaels where the staff wrongly told them a coupler was required to make the icer work so they went and bought one because they were told to. The quick icer not only did NOT require a coupler but the one the staff had them get was odd sized and would not fit that icer or any other icing tip I owned. Unfortunately my grand daughter opened the package before I realized it so I can't take the coupler back and am out the money. My grand daughter was a staunchly loyal customer of Michaels but after this even she is going to another crafts store that recently opened and thank goodness there is now an excellent option to Michaels and we are no longer stuck with Michaels or nothing. Again the selection is good but be vigilant when you go through the check out; based on my experiences, they will try to cheat you if they can. read more
