We were disappointed that a few more items weren't on sale, but that sort of goes with the territory. We were making our way through West Hartford when we stumbled across the River Bend Bookshop and just had to check it out. This shop is super cool looking because it's basically just inside of a small apartment. The shop itself has a cozy New England vibe and has a small to large section of pretty much every genre. Sadly, the horror section seems to be one of the smaller sections but hey, I don't live here, so clearly they know what their customers are looking for. Near the cash registers they have a nice selection of merch for the shop (sadly, no River Bend Bookshop Magnet) and a cool section dedicated to local authors and stuff like that. Overall, River Bend Bookshop is a super nice little book shop for the area and definitely a place worth checking out. Sadly, I didn't make a purchase on this trip because I can only fly back to LA with so much stuff, but I very much enjoyed checking this place out.

They have a variety of moleskin notebooks... but not exactly what I was looking for today. I talked to a lady at the front desk and ended up going with a hardcover A4 extended Leuchtturm1917 notebook. They have testers and I wandered around trying out different pens to make sure that nothing bled through the pages. I generally get one of these notebooks and it becomes my baby for a good year or so... and anyway I believe that it is going to work well. (I have been Moleskin-loyal for a few years now but the paper quality seems similar and thus I am feeling confident). I come here from time to time for XXL canvases, acrylic paints, and to get supplies for my fountain pens. I always seem to spend a couple hours here... whether I intend to or not! They have information about local art classes pinned right to the front door and for anyone who has leveled-up from (or is unable to find what they need at) Michaels, this is a wonderful place with fair prices! They often seem to have some kind of sale going on. I have a membership or loyalty card and I have no idea how much it saves me (or what the exact plan does) but they offered to set me up a good 5-10 visits ago and then continue to look up my account by my last name.

We also admitted a beloved doll in the doll hospital for repairs. I can tell the owner was nervous, with us walking around her "dollhouse". It was actually pretty funny. *Update I picked up my doll. Renee installed a crying device. I was hoping she would comb my doll's hair and make her look pretty. If I owned a doll shop, I would have. Why not add special touches? Why not put the doll in a pretty box, or bag for pick up? Presentation matters to many. Oh well.

Fortunately the store also offers doll repairs and restoration. This is a huge blessing because I thought I would have to send my Cabbage Patch doll through the mail to get her repaired and I was terrified that she would get lost. But I knew Renee would take great care of her. I entertained my nieces with this doll over the years and her eyes had become very worn. Her eyes open and close and rock back and forth, and would not stay still long enough for me to touch them up myself, not that I had any confidence that I could do a decent job. But Renee was able to do the impossible. The doll's eyes look as good as new.. I have attached before and after pictures to this review. When Renee brought the doll out to show me I could not believe what a good job she did. I also bought this adorable "skin suit" which the doll can wear under her outfits to help protect her from getting dirty. I will definitely tell everybody I know about this store.

She even went above and beyond by 1) staying past her scheduled time & 2) when she really needed to go she made a little sample for me to follow with written instructions.
