Xmas items were 70% off but amazingly hubs didn't select anything. Valentines decor was 40% off- couldn't resist. My favorite aisles are the scrapbooking tools, acrylic and wooden rubber stamps, stickers and bling. When we rang up there were self scan check out yourself stations. My haul came out to $185- didn't realize it would cost that much... Oh my, oh joy... indulgence can be a good thing in moderation. read more

We went to Hobby Lobby last week to check out their tie-dye inventory. Well, their t-shirts are higher. So, I noticed that in an email that I received, that Michael's had their Gildan heavy weight t-shirts for $2.99. Every year, we have a tie-dye project. Terrible customer service. I was trying to checkout a photo album but realized it had no barcode so I asked the employee. She tried to look it up and said the "closest thing I can find is $19.99 is that okay" I said yes initially but went back to find another one. It turned out to be $10 so I asked her to give me my money back because I wasn't going to spend an extra $10 on nothing. She said she couldn't give me my money back and offered a gift card for store credit. The store credit was like $15 dollars but anyways horrible experience and never coming back if I see that employee. She had short colored hair and was big. Convenient to home so I really wanted to like this location. Came here 2 days in a row and staff aren't very friendly and lack energy, even when they've JUST opened. Even their vendor who's working on their entrance door was a lot nicer. Store is usually stocked, but online isn't always accurate on availability. You can find some pretty good deals around the store, but not a happy employee. Ask them a question and they'll give a blank stare rather than continue the conversation. No "hello" or no "thank you" and no "have a nice day" until you've already walked away. Both days, I was in the store for no more than 5 minutes and this was my experience. read more

My daughter loves going to Michales; at this moment her favorite hobby is bead making.. Came here to buy more supplies and suddenly they had a table with some workers facilitating a Bead Making session so we walked there and my daughter made a bracelet, there's a bunch of kids and their parents making bead with them. This kind of short events are great for kids I hope Michaels continue to have this pop up table of different crafts events that are free session for kids to enjoy... Cause it's really a nice touch and the fact that it's free it's great for family and kids to enjoy it... And maybe they will offer paid sessions for longer events for kids to sign up for painting? This is for the framing department only. Nate in framing helped me pick out a frame for an item I've had in the box for over 10 years, when I picked up, he was also there. He didn't frame it himself, so the reveal was a surprise for both of us, and I'm so please with his suggestion. I was going to go with just a plain black frame. I was happy with my selections, so he pulled some options. He made a suggestion and that's what I had done with. So happy I did. The pic is whimsical and fun, and he chose a frame with design that really went well with the frame. I also went when the frames were 70% off custom frames! So got a great deal to boot. read more

Experience: This is my go-to store, I live 10 minutes away. For the home projects and crafts that I've done, I have been able to find all the products I need. The store is organized, never too crowded. I've gone to purchase a few frames, for the style I went for, they have had exactly the color and fit I need. I haven't gotten anything custom framed, but I've only ever seen someone back there once. Selection: Good variety on everything! Never a miss. They often have sales and coupons available throughout the year. Good quality and value products. Parking: It's super easy to find parking right at the front of the store. The street isn't as busy to, super safe. Customer Service: It's eh. No one will go out of their way to ask you a question or for help, which I don't mind, since I like to wonder. When I have asked questions, everyone seem to be knowledgeable. I will continue to go here, it has everything I need, and parking is always easy. I come to this location all the time and the customer service quality only gets worse. Needed a pen on the fine arts isle, along with 2 other people who had also been waiting longer than I had. Took 15 minutes and 3 employees to actually get a case unlocked. The only employee to help was Linda, she was amazing and extremely helpful. Everyone else on staff was awful, poorly trained and the worst customer service I'd ever seen. Not sure why it took 15 minutes to get keys when the store can be completely walked in less than 3 minutes, nor was it busy. I usually don't bother with reviews for big chain stores like Michaels, especially when I've been shopping there for so long, but I had such an amazing experience using their custom framing department for the first time, that I had to come on here and tell everyone about it! I purchased a very large (30x40) print from an artist that I love, thinking it was average poster size, and that I would have no issue finding a frame for it. When it arrived, I quickly found out that I was mistaken, and that frames don't typically come in these dimensions. I have never purchased a custom frame before, so was feeling pretty overwhelmed. In an attempt to price things out before purchasing, I went to Hobby Lobby, first, and they weren't helpful at all, so Michaels was my next stop. I was lucky to find that they had a 70% off special going on, and that made me feel even more confident in my decision. I knew I wanted something sturdy and simple, and likely a dark wood. They had a beautiful teal frame that caught my eye, but it was out of stock (I probably would have gotten sick of it anyway, so maybe that was lucky!). I was immediately drawn to the "Modern Walnut with Dark Lip" style that I ended up going with, but Michaels uses a super cool technology that takes a photo of the piece you've laid out on the counter, and then creates a mock-up of whatever frame you're looking at. This allowed me to try on a few other frames and really become confident in my decision. Their program also breaks down the pricing really clearly, so I was able to quickly see that anti-glare glass was only a small ($40, I think) upcharge, but changed the overall look of the piece so drastically. Pickup was also super easy. They told me it would take about 2 weeks, but it ended up being ready in about 1 and a 1/2. I was out of town when they called me to say it was ready, but they had no issue holding it until I got back. They even include hardware and hanging instructions! I was also able to pull my car right up to the front to load it, which was really helpful for such a large piece. Overall, Michaels and their staff took what started as a rather overwhelming and expensive process and made it an absolute breeze. I'm so happy to finally have this piece hanging in my home, and I'll definitely be coming back next time I need something framed. I am very patient although today I was in a rush. There was a line to check out and I was buying fabric trim I bought by the yard. Their scanner wasn't working so instead of going to self checkout I had to utilize the cashier. I walked through the large line you would usually go through for self checkout and saw that there was a small line forming in front of the one cashier. I lined up behind that line. After waiting while the two people in front of me got helped, the cashier then gets pulled my a woman that wasn't even waiting in line to ask questions about bags and then the cashier skips over me to talk to the lady that stood in line behind me. That lady told the cashier that I was waiting first and the cashier replied with "well you were waiting over there" pointing to the line I had came from. I didn't say anything but there's no designated line for the cashier. And when there's a line forming in front of the cashier, am I not suppose to stand in that line ? And why was I singled out and skipped. It left a really bad taste in my mouth and I dont like making things worse as the cashier seemed like she was already dealing with a lot. I was kind and checked out and wished her a good day. I didn't skip a line, wasn't impatient, waiting my turn and didn't make any snide remarks and the cashier acted like I was bothering her for standing in a line that other people were standing in including the person she chose to try or help instead of helping me. read more

Michaels has always been my last resort when choosing supplies because they typically either do not carry what I need, have limited choices or are more expensive than other places, however they do have quality products, unique supplies, great discounted items and the store is usually clean and accessible. We had placed a online order which was alcohol markers. Once we arrived to the store the lady up front was very disrespectful from the first question she asked us which was where was our ID. Unfortunately we didn't bring it but we had a photo of it since we had the confirmation on our phone and had placed is 20 minutes before. She lost it and literally made the situation worse. She said she didn't have time for this sh*t and then proceeded to say she didn't care. Once we asked for a manger she tried to say sorry and we said she wasn't sorry until we needed someone to come up and she said "your right I don't care" and once we told him about it she immediately was like nope I didn't say that. Whatever she had going on had nothing to do with us but for someone who is at the front she is terrible at customer service. She was blonde and had a headband on her head. Within 24 hours, I received an email to notify that my items are ready to be picked up. You'll drive up to the entrance and call the store number listed on the door or in the email. If there are cars before you, someone has assisted them and is bringing out their purchases. Once they're done, they'll come up to the next car and ask for your info. The staff was pretty fast and helpful, I didn't even need to call the store. You have about 5 days to pick up your items once the email is sent that your order is ready! read more

This Michael's store (fantastic name for any business, btw) is actually located right next to the Ross on Arroyo Crossing Parkway, just west of Rainbow Blvd. It's a pretty standard Michael's by most accounts. The store is pretty clean and well organized. What I really like about this location in particular is a) it's pretty close to home b) they never give you a hard time about any refunds and/or exchanges c) the employees here are always helpful and pleasant! Went here to get a picture framed. When I stepped up to the framing counter the young man seemed annoyed that I actually wanted to, you know, get a picture framed. Surly and not terribly helpful. Luckily I'm not one of those folks who needs a lot of help. I just wanted a simple frame job. Then I was told it would take two weeks. Seemed odd, but maybe they're really busy. Well the item did come back in two weeks and was OK, except instead of a heavy wire hanger, which every picture I've ever had framed by Michaels and other frame shops has automatically used, it had a two point hanging system. Now that would have taken a very long time with using a laser level and ruler to hang that picture. I asked for a wire and the young girl (who is still wearing a surgical mask even though science has repeatedly shown they're useless against Covid, but it's her right to wear it) seemed confused and called the manager. The manager did switch out the hanging system relatively quickly, but when I brought up that it was odd to use the two point system she said I had to ask for it when I placed the order. No lady, you need to teach your employees to tell the customers what options there are when the order is placed. So I plan to find someplace else to do my framing in the future. Also I bought something else and the check out girl did the usual "Do you have a phone number with us?" No. "Would you like give us your number?" No. thing. At least she was bright enough to quickly pick up that it was annoying me. But what is it with companies asking for personal information? The fact that she knew to stop asking those questions of me that saved Michaels from a one star review. read more
