    Christmas stuff
    Les C.

It's Friday the 27th of September 2024, about 4:00pm. This is my first time at this store and I found everything to be easy to find. The employees were nice and friendly. They could use a bit more of them. Lots of mark downs throughout the store. It's not thanks giving yet, and not yet Halloween, but the Christmas stuff is out. Oh my. I like this store, it's clean and bright.

Dave Dorman artwork, with a frame recommended by Regina, which superbly matched the steel look of the legs of the AT-AT.

This review is aimed solely at the framing department of Michael's on Lake Mead, and even more specifically at my absolute FAVORITE framer, Regina. We recently had a Star Wars print (signed and sketched upon by artist Dave Dorman) framed here at Michael's with Regina's help. She treated our art with the respect it deserved, but even more, instantly knew the frame to use to match the content of the art. Her choice was perfect. Her explanation of the different types of glass and how they affect and protect the art was easy to understand, and she demonstrates them without ever being pushy. It's obvious that Regina does her job well, and I believe much of that extends from the passion she demonstrates towards preserving art and its collectibility. Michael's has a true asset in their framing department with Regina. My wife and I look forward to entrusting her with further frame jobs for our most precious artworks and autographed items.

This is the new location (the old one was a few blocks, away, and on the other side). It is like a tee-pee. From outside, it looks small. But it is deep, goes back. It is very white and bright, kind of like Sephora, so everything inside kind of pops. I went straight to the beads, which is the far left, against the demo/ instruction room. There was a special on certain strands (there are several price points). Since I already have an extensive collection, I was specifically looking for beads that I didn't have, and that looked quite different. I found a few strands that fit the bill. Like most grocery stores (but all the other stores have adopted this marketing ploy), the area near the checkout line, have all kinds of attention-getting items, trying to lure you into buying more things, hahaha, conspicuous consumption. There were a few other customers in line. But checkout was quick. I was just glad to find something I liked (on sale) and got out without browsing (we had a few other stores in the immediate area to visit).

    Rolling baskets yes plz

Hoorayyyy for Michaels!!!! Summerlin Plaza is a great area for Michaels especially from where they came from just down the street. I believe this store will do great business here. Unfortunately I missed my chance for the first to review. Why I say this is because I'm shocked at the less then 5 star reviews below. I challenge anyone who needs a craft store to come here and tell me you can't find what you're looking for. As you can see in my photos this place has you covered. I'm going to keep it 100. If we want to save money whether it be buying a car or crafts. We need to advocate and look for ways to save. In response to Helene's review. I have saved so much money here using their online or paper coupons. There is not one time I have not gotten a discount. I wished I would have saved my receipts to show, but I'll show coupons. If you don't want to spend that much on Silk flowers you can always walk down the sidewalk to the 99 cent store, you get what you pay for. And....welcome to America where "most anything" is made overseas!!!

New location next to Sprouts. Corner of Lake Mead and Buffalo.

There are very few arts & crafts store in the city, and most of the time Michaels has what I'm looking for plus the company consistently offers really good coupons. This would be the first visit to this new location, but I've been shopping at Michaels stores for decades. If I can't find it here, then I typically just buy online. It's nice to have an art/craft store near my house.

This review might be more generous post covid-19 but I know everyone's experience is different. I was given the task to try and match a necklace which was needed to shoot a video. The necklace had to look the same since we were supposed to be pretending everything was filmed on the same day. Given I'm not the creative type, this was not my cup of tea but I was sent to michaels to buy supplies. I was hoping to go there and just find a similar necklace but everything was very picked over and empty. Not only did I read that they just had a bead sale, but I'm sure everyone bored at home is looking for new hobbies. The task to recreate this necklace was a lot for me and given the options of necklace making I needed some help. I couldn't get anyone in the store to help me since the two employees working were both on the register. I waited 15 minutes and just couldn't wait anymore due to my time constraints and I bought a bunch of beads and left. I had NO idea that 8 stings of beads and some line would be $80 but I guess that's how it goes. In the end I was able to recreate what I needed but I really could have used an employees help. When I got home the string that I bought wasn't the match for some beads which I guess most people know but I didn't.

Framer did a great job reframing a 35 year old lithograph for me. Thank you Regina for your color suggestions on the matting and frame.

If you're wondering if something is in stock, you might as well just go because they'll put you on hold for 16 minutes and never answer. I just wanted to know if they had a color of yarn in stock but since I didn't know the item number off the top, my head I got put on hold until someone could help me after 16 minutes I kind of gave up and went myself. They didn't have it, and didn't have a big selection of the Caron one pound colors. The store wasn't busy so I don't see how I ended up on hold for so long when I had one question.

Well as you may know I'm recovering from a terrible cold. I am still pretty weak seeing as how I spent 2 weeks in bed (first had food poisoning!). So when I was circling this store trying to find help I was getting more and more upset. I went to the front of the store to find one cashier working. She immediately called someone to help me. The woman that helped me wasn't wearing anything that showed she worked there so I have no idea who she was. She was quite rude, literally not saying one damn word to me. Now mind you I was upset but I never let anyone know that. I knew that I was more upset because I was weak and struggling. Now I had already circled the store trying to find where I needed to be in the first place and then not finding what I needed in that spot I circled the store trying to find help. Now when this woman comes along to help me she literally hauls ass to where I need to be so I had to haul ass to follow her. Ugh! So I settle on something, as I felt I was doing with just about everything there, and headed to check out. And what are you know, the line is ridiculously long though there was anybody there when I walked up to get help. Figures right? There is only one cashier and it was taking unbelievably long for a person to check out. This line started to became kinda hostile but we all kept it together and made it out of there. I am an artist and I do love Michael's though I very rarely ever shop there. I don't like to shop. I never have and I never will. This store is very ugly and disorganized. And it looks to me like they tried to fit a much larger store into a smaller one. And btw... These stores never catch a clue on this. The paint. Artists will always use more white than any other color! But yet they are always sold out! I swear I would prefer crafting section of Walmart before I would return here. Why 3 stars then? Because I took massive advantage of those beautiful sales on canvases.

    Centerpiece I made!

I did have to ask for help to find a few things and I was pleased that they had what I was looking for. The prices are pretty good for how the climate is today. The store was very neat and clean. *Now this is where I went from looking to give five stars. How well the first two staffer's that were stocking up the items in the middle of the sales floor; gave awesome customer service to me. The young lady walked me to the area of which I was inquiring about. She didn't just point like some store employees tend to seemingly do. As I walked up to the front to check out there was a not so vibrant person behind the register. Why do I always tend to run into Sour puss faces as of recent? I'm not sure but this young person was so dry every question I asked it was like she was programmed to say, Unfortunately. She used this word 5x's in a short span of 3 minutes of me making my transition. I can't remember her name and maybe that's for the best but she was giving Sloth vibes and as if she'd learned a new 13 letter word from Wikipedia or Google. I was looking at her face to see if was a bot or something smh. I just don't understand Why normal behavior is becoming EXTINCT. I ended up switching the word and when I asked her could I pay with cash? She replied, Yes. Of course I was cynical and replied by saying, it's Fortunate that I have cash on me today. She just looked as if she needed to be turned back on or greased (like the Tin-Man ) from The Wizard of Oz movie. I just can't with the lack of social skills that are being displayed by a lot of these young people. Jobs Never would've hired me if I had a Lackluster personality back in my day. Now it's like What The Phuck Ever NO BODY really cares any way. Just know, I still do and I'll keep addressing and giving my two cents wherever my tax paying coins are being used.

As I entered i was not greeted, so just walked over to art table and grabbed a seat. Eventually someone appeared at the front desk, walked over to check in and order food and drinks. They have libations (beer, wine, cocktails), water and mocktails. The food menu was limited (chips with various dips salsa, guacamole, aioli, Bavarian pretzel with dip, and other small snacks). Tried the chips with salsa and guacamole as well as the Bavarian pretzel (two nice sized pretzels). Our drinks came out first. We had to have them remade as they included edible glitter which wasn't listed on the drink ingredients we initially ordered. The chips, dip and pretzel were plenty to share between 2-3 people easily. The art class instructions didn't begin until about 745P. Not exactly sure what was going on regarding starting so late. There wasn't a lot of people here the night we went so we had lots of table space. Our table was set up with our boards, gloves, sand paper & rags. Racheal was our instructor and she was AWESOME! Paula was working that night too & helping out. She got us our drinks & food and she was also great too! We had enough time to look over the menu & place our orders. I was exited to see that they just didn't serve beer & wine but had Truly's & a cocktail menu. I didn't see this on their website. I tired the glitter bomb even though they were out of cotton Candy & replaced it with something else which worked out. Later on I ended up ordering the pepperoni pizza which looked amazing & tasted amazing too! Was just right! Rachel explained the process prior to us starting. We were able to see other designs that were on the wall. You pick out a stain if you want to have some of the board stained which will show because you don't cover it up with your colors/glitter. Beware resin won't come out of your clothes or your hair. So bring something to put your hair up & be careful what you wear. You do get an apron to use but it doesn't cover up your clothes completely. I even brought some of my own glitter because I want sure if they had pink glitter but they have lots of colors to choose from. We had plenty of time to work on our project but once you stir your resin to get the bubbles you have 20 minutes to work with it. My friend brought her mother too & her birthday was a couple days after my friend's. Rachel was fun & had everyone sing happy birthday to them. :-) You need to leave your final project there for 24hrs so it can dry. My friend was suppose to pick mine up & give it to me next time I see her. I really liked the end product & can't wait to see it & use it for something. It's safe to serve food on it. I'd definitely come back for a future art project! This place so reminded me of school and art class. 5/5 stars! Thanks for the fun night Rachel & Paula! P.S. just a suggestion...you should have an air freshener & poop spray for the bathroom.
