It's a meh. Employee are ok from my experience but they're a bit scary. The place is very busy and I almost keep on bumping into people and have to be aware of my surroundings more so I think the building should've been made bigger to avoid traffic, same with the drive way. Well maybe not expanding it much but like having a two way drive in, driving one way I think could cause a problem. I don't know, just a feeling. The stuff there is amazing though because they have stuff that I actually need rather than me needing to go online and order. My favorite is the sketchbook selection since the books aren't locked up like most places I've been to, I can touch the paper and feel the texture. Value is wild though, 100$ for some marker is wild! This review is mostly due to the condition of the store itself. Yesterday was very rainy and while shopping I noticed many large leaks in the ceiling. They had multiple dehumidifiers in the store. I don't want her name to get lost on here because she, in all history of customer service relations I've had in my 46 yrs of life and the past 4 years of being a professional shopper( so I shop a lot ) have I ever encountered anyone RUDER, MORE UBPROFFESIONAL, JUDGEMENTAL, INSULTING AND MEAN than I have with her. Service selection and merchandise- worst store ever! Staff is untrained and the out of merchandise!

Michaels is a life saver for us when we have last minute school projects due. We've stopped by multiple times over the years to pick up plain t-shirts for various school theme days so we can decorate the shirts, to picking up stickers and different holiday themed decorations. Michaels has everything from the fake silk flowers, Circuit machines, beads, cake decoration supplies, tie-dye, to other things I can't even think to list. We last stopped by to pick up a chalk board for the first day of school and some fun colored chalk - both were conveniently placed upfront in easy to find locations! If you can, sign up for the e-mails and you get a nice $5 discount coupon you can use. We like the discount, and it helps whenever we have crafty projects to complete. Staff have always been nice and friendly, and when busy, they aren't able to walk us to the aisle, but otherwise, we've been directed to the correct aisle. It's fun to browse all the different crafting things here, and the sales are worth picking up supplies for holiday decorations. They also had a nice selection of LGBTQ+ craft items like little pride flags, ribbons, and various rainbow themed items - we did pick up a spool of rainbow ribbon for rainbow day for school though, which was convenient. read more

This store really needs to be revamped and in dire need of improving its overall accessibility. There is only one way in and out of this parking lot and even to access the parking lot is a nightmare. The door frames look and feel very narrow and if I had a mobility issue or required mobility assistance I do not think this store could accommodate a wheelchair or possibly a walker. I'm not sure who designed this building but it seems to be on a slant. Everything feels cramped and claustrophobic. This store doesn't seem to have air conditioning or maybe just poor airflow? Some of the aisles feel scattered, almost chaotic? I just needed to get some craft supplies today and after searching and searching I decided to leave and probably won't be back. read more

I've been here twice so this review is based on those two experiences. Driving to this store is pretty terrible. You can only go one way up Juanita Dr. to get into the parking lot. And you can only go one way out of Juanita Dr. to get out (which usually dumps you into the right turning lane at the parking lot). Also, the layout of the store is weird. It's GREAT if you find someone who works there and can get them to direct you to the right aisle. I went in there today to find some ribbon and spent literally 15 minutes wandering around in the store because I couldn't find it and I couldn't find anyone to ask. And then I finally found what I was after, but it took me 15 minutes to buy a 50c spool of ribbon. Like, what. The first time I came here I was really lucky and actually had a super friendly store associate ask me what I was looking for, and she actually led me to the right place. I wish I remembered her name because she deserves mad props for her service. Actually that's why this review gets 3 stars, because of her. If she hadn't been there I think the place would only warrant 1-2 stars. I also find it super weird that they keep asking for your email address at the checkout. That said, I'll probably still come here since it's super close and it's nice to have a craft store nearby. Oh Michael's....you're like a crafting train wreck that's hard to look away! Lots and lots of overstocked shelves, rows and product to hold your mouth open and gawk at! For a seasoned arts and crafter, this must be Mecca for you.......for me, Michael's is an overwhelming garage sale of crafting supplies. The parking lot is confusing to enter.....you have wind your way thru another office building parking lot to get to Michael's front door. This confusion sets the tone for what you're about to experience as you enter the store. So. Much. Stuff. Lots and lots of dimly lit aisles, shelf after shelf of cluttered bits and bobs, and everything do-it-yourself under the sun. This haphazard display of product to me is overwhelming, not inspiring. Not a lot of help walking the store floor, but if you do see and employee in a red vest, grab onto them and don't let go! Despite the aisles being marked with labels for product, they are mazes to get lost in. If you have the time and want to meander and browse, Michael's will most likely have what you're looking for......if you can find it! This trip, all I needed was colored cake decorating sanding sugar. I found the correct aisle on my own, but the lighting was so poor, I couldn't tell the exact color I was looking for. I had to take the product to the front door windows and hold it to the light. Back and forth to the aisle I went before I made a final decision. Like the parking lot, confusing! Ugh. Just breathe. I remembered to bring in Michael's 40% off coupon which ultimately helped knock a few dollars off the price, but somehow, the anxiety of the cramped store didn't make the visit worth my while. This Michaels came thru for me! I had signed up for a virtual painting class & the shipping for my painting supplies using a different company were delayed. The day before my class I placed a curbside order thru JoAnn, since that store is much closer to my house. I called JoAnn the next day to see when my order would be ready and they said 5 days! I was disappointed & canceled my order and thought I was just going to have to miss out on the class. I looked at Michaels website & saw they had same day delivery during this time. I quickly placed my online order & then called. They said the order would be ready in less than an hour!! I was so happy! I like going to Michael's but I don't like going to Michael's. Sounds kind of strange but it is a unique chain of stores. I usually come here when I need something smaller than a big box store or the kids have a craft project for school. When I step into this store there is always a touch of chaos. I am not sure why I get that impression. They products grouped in specific aisles, it is bright enough but maybe it is the uneven floor and the overwhelming selection of items? Maybe it is the parking lot that always seems to be having cars parked everywhere? I do have to say that they have a great selection of arts and crafts and the prices are very reasonable. We have even had my son's baseball jerseys framed at Michael's and it turned out very well. There seems to always be a discount going on to save even more money. I am not someone who does arts and crafts easily, so I need help when I come in and it is quite often difficult to find help. Overall I will keep coming back for the arts and crafts side but the feeling of eminent chaos and lack of assistance for people like me keep this from being a stellar review. read more

Small but mighty! This is probably the smaller Michaels store I have ever been to, but the customer service was good. I had something I wanted to get framed and I didn't know where to begin. The framing department is well laid out and the employee working behind the window was super helpful and knowledgeable. She showed me all of my options and then told me what coupons could be applied to the order (as they can sometimes be confusing regarding what can be stacked and what items are not included). At the end of the day the cost of framing my item at Michaels was still much more expensive that Seattle Framing, who I ended up going with (as they were offering a Living Social deal that far surpassed any retail options out there) for my very basic artwork that needed framing. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with Michael's. Great kids activites. Lots of sales and promotions. Good selection in most departments. Fun seasonal gear. The parking lot is indeed a beast. 'nuf said. Take a deep breath. Count to 10. Resign yourself to the idea that you might be awhile. Don't take it out on fellow shoppers. If things aren't on sale, you may feel unbelievably ripped off. If you're patient, you don't have to wait long for significant mark downs.... But not all crafters are patient. As well, a number of sales are one-day only and I'm just not organized enough for that. This is my favorite Michaels in the Greater Seattle Area. It's smaller than some of the others and totally not renovated, but feels like an old-school art supply store in that way... but it seems to be managed better than the others and I usually find what I'm looking for. More importantly, when the website says it has a certain item in stock at this location, it usually is accurate, whereas I feel like some of the other Michaels, it's a total crap shoot, and the stock info on the website bears no relationship to reality. Although all of the Michaels are grossly understaffed (which seems to be the case with all the big box craft stores, it's usually easier at this location to get help. Most of the staff are friendly and reasonably knowledgeable except for 1 lady who works on the floor who literally does not respond to you if you ask her a question. this location is also a bit tidier than some of the other. I also always get a parking spot right in front of the entrance and the store is rarely crowded and lines are generally never more than 1 or 2 people except during the holiday super sales. This location is about the same distance from me as 2 other locations (Armory and Lynwood) and I usually choose this one for online order/pick up in store. I saw another reviewer complain about the curbside pickup and that felt unrealistic, as they don't have dedicated staff to shop for you and they need to prioritize the customers in the store. They give you a window of when it will be ready and email you when it's ready for pickup, and the 6 or so times I've used that (or curbside pickup) it's always been ready within the initial estimate or sooner, and I never get a notice that the item isn't available after all, which happens very frequently with Joann. So if you go to the store several hours earlier, that's on you. Also, I feel like with COVID we can cut staff some slack as everything is slower, they have fewer staff and more work to do, plus they're getting paid crappy wages and putting themselves at risk so you can get your craft on. As far as price and selection goes, you really can't beat Michaels and people bitching and moaning about the little things need to put it in perspective. If you think this Michaels is bad, go visit Joanns in Shoreline or Crossroads to put your shopping experience in perspective-- those stores are nightmares read more

I come here all the time for various things - stickers, pens, paper, mason jars, ribbon, tissue paper, etc. because it's close to my home and work. It's always been my go-to for anything artsy craftsy :) Pros: - Coupons and sales, ALL THE TIME. Don't buy anything full price here. There's coupons you can print off online or just pull up on your phone. Coupons usually stack and/or you can use multiple coupons at once too. DEALS! Also, a 40% off a regular priced item coupon is often attached to your receipt for the next time you go in. - They probably have what you're looking for :) - Good customer service. There's usually someone easy to spot to ask where something is if you need help finding something. Also, an extra cashier is usually requested when there's a few people in line so it cuts the line in half if there is one. Cons: - Good location in the Juanita area, but terrible accessibility. It's complicated into the parking lot if it's your first time and you're coming from the East. - A lot of the store has oldish, narrow (and some dark) aisles to browse through and a creepy bathroom in the very back! Ok so I'm going to start by saying that the cashier was wonderful & helpful- that was the best part. The custom framing section is INCREDIBLY expensive! $220 AFTER the 70% sale? I'll pass thanks. What if I just got a mat? $40? Ha no thank you. The worst part honestly though was saying "no thank you, we will pick something out ourselves" (we said no multiple times) and the associate FOLLOWED US and kept suggesting things. We said no! Maybe I'm a fan because we don't have a Michael's in Hawaii.We don't have much MAMBI distributors in the islands and if I do find a business that sells, I still have to pay shipping which can still be crazy here. So I was so excited to see an aisle and end caps full of MAMBI items. I found more on the additional 50% off clearance area. My daughter had a 60% and 40% off coupon and we walked out feeling like a well accomplished shop day! So the store doesn't look like a whole of glitz and glamour was done to it. I frequent this place often mostly because as far as craft stores are concerned, the price point is way more affordable especially with their coupons. I don't really give a crap about customer service anymore unless you truly are a terrible human being. Let's be honest, I've worked in CS for a decade, making $10/hr. barely pays for gas. It's soul crushing. But holy batman, man. When you even look at the store driving by, I am immediately drained of joy. It truly needs a good pressure wash and like, you know, a remodel. And maybe a location change because I get panicky trying to get there. My biggest complaint is their stock. I know what filling holes and double facing means and I see you Michaels. Not cool. The journaling, sketchbook, and pen/brush pen is really disappointing. The Washi tape selection is decent though! Love having a Michael's closeby. Their discount/clearance bins have the most ridiculous fun finds at even ridiculous-er prices. Not much different than any other Michael's in terms of selection, size and average availability of the standards and the seasonals. Couple stars docked for a very awkward parking lot and the overwhelmingly thick smell of what can only be described as an overdose of the "Christmas pine cones" that somehow sticks around all year long. It took 1-month and 3 trips to Michael's to get x2 custom frames finalized. While I did provide the posters rolled, the first mistake was giving me frames where the rolls were blatantly obvious and did not look flattened. When asking the employee to redo it, she was offended. Second time, there were creases from mounting it on foam core. Third (final) time I picked it up, the creases could not come out after running it through the heater. Basically, I paid $800 for posters and custom framing that was ruined without any refund. It just is what it is, and that's how it was given back to me. I haven't even put my frames up on my wall (that's how disappointed I am), and am now re-ordering new posters so replace what Michael's could not do correctly. I highly recommend that NO ONE comes here to spend money on custom framing. read more

This Michaels is probably one of the worst Michaels I've been to. The low-slung building, the low fluorescent lighting that somehow skips several aisles at a time. Kind of lends the feel that someone is going to jump out from the baskets of yarn and grab you. This most recent visit brought us to the framing department. The woman that helped was a "certified framer," but she had quite a few problems with our request. She also couldn't describe to my mother the pricing, so I did. We eventually walked out of there with what we wanted, but man, did it take some doing. Maybe head to Aaron Brothers next time if they're having a sale. The good: those 50%-off coupons are legit if you have a very specific thing in mind. The bad: oh God, my soul hurts upon entry. During my most recent visit, my much-needed yarn was on sale. When I asked for a rain-check, the checker had to consult with not one, but two additional employees. Two weeks later and I am yet to have received a notification on my so-much-for-needing-that-yarn-yarn. This Michaels is in need of an update and more space. Bellevue's location is much more spacious, but its lines are always packed. Kirkland? Your staff is flat out non-existent and more often than not you're out of stock or unkempt. As other reviewers have similarly stated, this location is close to me & therefore very convenient. I usually walk there, so can't comment on the parking entrance issue. They do have a lot of parking available, though. The store is small & dark & chock full of stuff. It's a good place to wander if you like to do that. The few times I've been in there & asked an employee for something specific they seem to only know the general area it might be in rather than an exact location. Not a very large selection of flowers, but they do have a decent amount of floral craft supplies. Also not very large sections for framing and sewing. This store has a lot of random crafty stuff without having a huge concentration of any one item. There's a good chance that if you're just browsing, you'll find something interesting...but if you want something specific, put on your search gear & get a headlamp to light the way. read more

You have to go through another parking lot to get to theirs, and you can only take a right into that driveway, so you'll probably have to flip at least one U-turn to get there. And once you get in you'll find that it wasn't worth all the hassle. The place is really old and worn-down looking. There's tons of stuff everywhere but it's not particularly well organized or apparent how to find what you want. The staff is...interesting. Our cashier was just really nosy and overly chatty and frankly a little creepy. Fortunately I don't have a huge need to go to craft stores, but if you do you may want to seek out another one. I do NOT like this Michael's, but unfortunately, it's the closest one of the big craft stores. Still, I'm beginning to prefer to go out of my way to go to the Bellevue Michael's, JoAnn, or Redmond Ben Franklin. The Kirkland Michael's probably has all of the products that it should, but it's the experience that's disappointing. First of all, trying to get to the store... I take the 116th exit off 405 and take 116th St until it turns into Juanita Drive. You can see the sad, tired-looking Michael's building at the intersection, but then what? I tried turning left, hoping to be able to take a right into the parking lot, but no... you just end up driving past Juanita Bay Park (very pretty) and looking for a place to turn around. Instead, you should go straight, then immediately turn left past the Michael's into what seems like an apartment parking lot. There are three small, pathetic white signs that say "Michael's" and have arrows that direct you around some building, through their parking lot, and dumps you at the back of the Michael's building. Great. Then you get inside, hoping for the glorious crafty inspiration to hit you, and the store just looks old and dismal, with all of the aisles crammed close together. Everything is so cluttered that it's pretty difficult to figure out which part of the store you need to be in to find what you want. For an arts & crafts store... it really should look better than that. read more

It's a nice place to go when you are in a pinch and need it now.. and there really aren't a lot of craft stores available in the area. This is a sad, sad Michaels. When walking to the entrance from the nearly impossible to drive into parking lot, my husband commented, "What is this? The 60s?!!" when seeing he had to actually do a push/pull door and it wasn't automatic. He's kidding, somewhat of course, but it kind of speaks to just how outdated this Michaels is. It *is* cramped inside, but what I found most bothersome was just how dark it is in this shop! The aisles are packed pretty high up and they're narrow and so many of them seem to have hardly any light at all. While this could be kind of nice in hot areas of the world where people need to escape the blazing sun, here in the PNW it's just depressing. I didn't feel like I would get shanked like another reviewer mentioned (ha!), but if I did it'd probably be a bedazzled one ;) I also felt like the selection here wasn't as great as at other locations too. Situated in the heart of Juanita, Michaels moderately meets your crafting needs. The vast majority of what you would want to decorate for a holiday if you are crafty can be found here and the remainder can be found just a few miles away at Hancock Fabrics or Ben Franklin's Arts and Crafts. Michaels has a nice parking lot and is rarely crowded although service is usually slow due to large numbers of coupon using customers. If you've a Fitbit and need steps come here. You can wander up and down the aisles and find plenty of trinkets that if you tinker with some you can make majestic items out of them. I enjoy shopping at this location; I simply wish it was a little larger and easier to reach. read more

Their spring and summer silk flowers were signed at 80% off and were not separated out from those that were 40% off. I avoid this Michael's, and would ignore it altogether if it wasn't so close to my house. Just getting into the store is a headache: you have to notice the sign directing you behind another building. The inside of the store isn't much better: dark, cramped aisles, cluttered feeling, badly dated fixtures. There are never enough cashiers and often a long wait to check out. Sales help is usually hard to find, which is unfortunate, because the merchandise can be, too. They have a broad selection, but the quality is so-so.
