The staff member, Steven, was very helpful on helping us figure out what we wanted and ordering it with an expected delivery of 2 weeks. Today I visited Michaels in Holly Springs after finding a pink and white trim online that showed 4 yards available at my local store. When I arrived, I found the trim on the shelf, but it measured only 2 yards. Hoping the remaining yardage might be stored underneath, I checked the bins below the shelf. Suddenly, an employee approached me with a sharp, commanding tone, saying, "Please don't dig in our bins." I explained that I wasn't digging, I was just checking whether they had the rest of the trim available. I even showed her the exact trim I was looking for. Instead of offering help or checking inventory, she repeated the same statement and walked away quickly without attempting to assist me. Less than a minute later, I selected an alternate trim and wanted to ask if she could cut it for me--but she was nowhere to be found. Thankfully, a very kind gentleman in the back noticed I needed assistance. He stepped in right away, measured the trim, and even labeled it neatly for an easy self-checkout experience. I left disappointed by the initial interaction, not because the online stock was inaccurate, but because the first employee felt dismissive and unhelpful. As a frequent crafter who shops here often, I truly value good customer service and appreciate the helpful employee who stepped up. The inconsistent customer service, however, made the visit more stressful than it needed to be. read more

Horrible customer service. The lady didn't have any clue what to do and stood at the register u til I asked her to call someone. You can't return something in store you buy online. Then I got a custom frame and the girl knew nothing, gave me the wrong mat and when I asked about the color she said it was just dirty but when I looked at other mats there was a bright white that matched the frame white. Then she said oh yeah that's white. I am paying a lot of money for framing to have someone who knows absolutely nothing about it!!!! Ridiculous. Also asked how and what I wanted not offering advice or showing me any frames. Amateur hour and hope Michael's goes out of business and Amazon wins. read more

Why have the bathrooms been closed and roped off out of service for a year? How can this store even be open without facilities?

I purchased 10 baskets online but needed to return in store. Many were damaged and one was the the wrong one completely. When I went in to the store I was told they were not returnable because they were clearance. The website stated nothing about them not being returnable when purchased. I spoke to Sue, a manager in store and was told NO, no exceptions. After being in retail management as a Store Mgr and District SM my entire life, I knew it is possible, she just wouldn't. After seeing some of the other poor reviews I'm not really surprised. Fortunately, the customer service line took great care of me and I was able to receive a full refund. It's unfortunate she didn't empower herself to do the right thing for the customer. Sue's lack of empathy leaves a bad taste in my mouth and unfortunately Michael's suffers. It will be unlikely I'll be back because Amazon will gladly accept my business as well as my returns. read more

I was in the other day to buy some art supplies and I overheard the people at the photo center getting WHITE SUPREMACY posters printed off and the employee was more than okay with it. This SHOULD NOT be allowed to be printed off in a craft store!! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING and that's coming from a white female. read more

I'm from Wilmington originally and I've been to this chain from Myrtle Bch SC to Raleigh, NC and all over from there to ILM. This is by far the store that offers the least.....including the checkout clerk I encountered this evening around 5:30/6:00pm. Very rude. Arts, crafts, framing, bridal, you name it. The Michael's app currently doesn't work for discounts. You'll need to pull up the full website on your smartphone and use the coupon barcode from that or bring the paper coupon. The employees are pretty good about giving the discount if you don't have a coupon. However, don't count on it because that's generally not what I've experienced at the Michael's stores in NY where the rule is: "no ticky, no washy." Maybe it's different here but it's a little too soon for me to tell. We accidentally broke the glass on a picture frame while ransacking the place (kidding, John N). My hubby was set on paying for it but they took the frame and even offered to call another store for a replacement. Overall, a great new Michael's where you can get down with your crafty self. read more

I visited this location on a Monday afternoon with one other person. These are my thoughts and observations. - The store is well maintained and bright. It's easy to find what you're looking for. - Some of the more popular thread colors were out of stock. - Their selection of hoop sizes is lacking. - The lines move quickly. - The employees are unprofessional. They were gossiping the whole time I was being checked out. - The guns the cashiers use make scanning small items a pain. Overall, you get a great first impression walking in, but you won't be able to find everything you need and will have to go to a second store anyways. read more

The staff here are rude and unhelpful. After waiting in a very long line (that wrapped around near the back of the store) to pick up my in-store order, the cashier stated that I would need to wait in the line again to return an item.. despite having just waited in the long line to pick up my order (that was also missing an item I had paid for). I would avoid this location if possible in the future. Not worth the hassle. read more

I realize that during the holiday season, cashiers may be stressed. But, is it too much to ask for you to make eye contact and to say, "Thank you"? The rudest clerk ever, she just pushed my bag at me, looked the other way, and said nothing. And, since I was paying cash and this store only had one cash site (the rest were all credit/debit self-service), I actually had to wait for this rude treatment. This is not the first time I have encountered such discourteous treatment here. I will not be back; other stores care to be cordial and grateful. read more

Love the customer service in the store! We originally thought we needed custom framing and the staff in that department was very helpful. They actually have a computer system where you can see the different colors, styles, and frames on your certificates. The staff then recommended a less expensive solution and they had the frame size we needed. The store is always clean and organized. read more

I used to shop at another craft store because Michaels was so junky and cluttered. Then this Michaels came to town and it's great! It's clean and we'll organized. I don't really talk to staff often, but they seem friendly enough when I do. My only criticism is the check out. Almost everytime I go they have a huge line and hardly any registers open. It seems to be an ongoing problem. The majority of my time in the store seems spent waiting line. I will continue to shop here, just frustrating. read more

Craft stuff is great here. However, I witnessed VERY unprofessional behavior from a woman who is a manager here tonight. Worker behind the register called another employee up to help her with the customer in front of me and the worker who helped was about to go on break and had a drink in his hand...no big deal, he was going on break. This manager comes storming up yelling at the worker who asked for help about the other worker who came and helped her asking what he was doing behind the register with a drink and was mad at them for doing their job ! The worker who was going on break was nice enough to take a couple of seconds to help this poor girl behind the register and the manger blew up about it ! I felt so bad for them...made me so sick. I hope whoever this manager is sees this review somehow ! Treating your employees like animals in front of your customers is totally unacceptable and inappropriate and will make you and the company look horrible. Last Saturday I stood in line for about 10 minutes along with seven other customers. The lady in front of me said she had been waiting "forever" before I got in line. There was ONE register open however there were three employees behind the counter helping customers with kids sign up for events in the store. The customer service or should I say lack there of seemed to focus on these events rather than paying customers. When I finally was called to the register the cashier thanked me for waiting (as if I had a choice) and told me the store had three employees out sick. I suppose if cahiers are out sick no other employees can run the registers. I have had several jobs in retail and the rule has always been to open another register if three or more customers are in line. I hope the store improves their customer service. read more
