I don't have a crafty bone in my body, I think it skips generations. My mom would probably live here if she could. I have no desire to scrap book, crochet, make things with beads, or arrange fake plants. What I do love about this place are their sales on frames and Christmas decor. Plus at the bottom of my receipt there is always a 40% off a regular priced item coupon. SCORE! On the other hand if you are all about crafts, this is the place to be. On the right side they have TONS of beads in the front, if I even knew how to make my own necklaces I'd probably do it but I'm too impatient. After the beads they have an entire section dedicated to kids crafts, followed by painting, clay work, and illustrations. The middle section has scrap booking accessories for days, along with crafts to help you with party favors for weddings/baby showers/bdays etc. The back has custom framing and a huge selection of frames that always seem to be on sale. The left side of th store has fake flowers, pots, wooden based crafts, and cake decorating accessories. I'm sure when I become a mom, I'll come here often so my kids can do crafts and be hands on rather than playing video games all day. Really great store full of activities. read more

If I could give this location a 0 I would. I've always love Michael's but this store is a mess. It is always disorganized, messy, out of stock on several items, and the stock is very limited for scrapbooking supplies even though they did the revamp of the store a while back to make the primary focus the scrapbook section. I've never felt poorly enough about the store to comment until I was there this past Monday. I brought in a receipt to have a price adjustment made as I spent nearly $500 on products that all went 40% off just a few days later. I followed all the rules in order to get a price adjustment per company policy; however, the manager Marci S. REFUSED to do the price adjustment. She kept making up any excuse possible when clearly she was discriminating me for no reason. She clearly didn't want her staff member to process the adjustment because it was going to take some time even though there were hardly any customers in the store. Also, she was probably worried about her profit margins as it was going to be a $200 refund. I'VE NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH AN INCREDIBLY RUDE INDIVIDUAL, LET ALONE MANAGER IN CUSTOMER SERVICE, IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I've already filed a complaint with corporate and plan to write a letter to the company president/CEO. Marci S. (she scribbled her last name on the receipt so that I couldn't read it) has no business working in customer service LET ALONE working as a manager. It is clear by several negative reviews about this store that she clearly can't handle managing a store or keeping customers happy. Someone spending $500 a pop at a craft store should be valued and not treated like a piece of junk as she treated me. I will NEVER step foot in this store again and I doubt I'll ever return to a Michael's store based on this horrific experience. Buyers beware: DO NOT SHOP HERE! I actually prefer this michaels over the birdcage michaels. Michaels is such a treasure for me, i range my hobbies from craft and cross-stitching, jewelry making, and painting and collaging. They always have the supplies I need, and usually have some sort of great sale going on so i feel less guilty for my spending habits here. The only reason i can't give them the last star is because they can be a bit messy and of course they never have enough staff at the checkout area. read more

Other than location, this is my least favorite Michael's. A huge portion of the store is taken up with beads and jewelry making supplies, so it's great if that what you're after. However, I find the rest of the store lacking. Scrapbooking supplies are ok, but yarn and frames are very small. I love Michaels, but not this location. Everything is set up as 'sections' and not traditional aisles, so it can be very confusing to find something. Even worse, when you go around a display thinking what you want is on the other side, you walk into something completely different! This location is not to my liking and was very messy. Even more than a 'normal' Michaels. The bathroom was filthy and it was hard to find someone to help you. There are plenty of other locations out there that are better than this one. read more

This store has some great selections of 12/12 paper if anyone is a scrapbooker. I usually go to more "Mom and Pop" locations but for what Michaels is-- its worth the trip and extra pennies. The sticker selection is freakin awesome! Deals and always present and the clearence is outstanding. I think it is shocking because all the soccer moms usually raid that place like roaches in the mornings. Help in the store? Yeah, It sucks. Although the product is awesome--the staff is rude and have a "go find it yourself attitue" They were even rude to kids! It shocks me because its acrafty store and usually those clerks are falling over themselves to help you, but no here-- overall-- if you are looking for great product but u can help yourself, go to this store. This is a great Michael's location! It's ginormous!! They have everything that all other normal Michael's has, but triple or sometimes even quadrupled the size! This makes for better selection, which also means more time in the store trying to figure out what you're gonna choose! I love all the selections! I especially love their yarn section! They have so many different yarns in different colors. I only wish they had a lot more brands to choose from. The workers here are always really nice and helpful, although it can sometimes be hard to find a worker because of how big the store is. They also have a great frame center here!! I've never seen a framing area so pretty! They have all these examples that you can look at, which make it great, because you can physically see what the frame will look like! The lines can get long here too, like every other Michael's, but they're really good about calling for back up, unlike other locations, so the line goes real quick! read more

Well I very much love Michael's and they are great for anything you would need imagine craft wise, the customer service and staff at this location were absolutely beyond rude. Now a little background, I am a ex drug user, I still have track marks on my arms, but just because of my past I should not be harassed at the store. The staff followed me around taking pictures because they assumed that I was going to steal something. My feedback is for the custom framing department, more specifically the department's manager. I believe she goes by Tish. We have a lot of framed Fillmore concert posters in our home. The posters are very colorful and so are the framing choices we have made over the years. Most of these posters were done by a small shop in Sacramento that is no longer open. I was very hesitant to try Michael's for one of our unframed posters, but Tish was awesome. She spent time with me to find the right frame/mat color mix and the finished product looks great. Items are good, but they are really expensive. My daughter makes bracelets for her cousins on their birthdays we went there to get more beads. They 15-25 dollars! How expensive are beads? We were also having trouble to finding a few items so we asked a employee, she told us, but when we went to the isle it was the wrong isle. We went back and she seemed mad that we came back again. My daughter isn't that good at with anger issues and almost yelled at the girl. We just left with nothing. read more

There shopping carts are UNSAFE for any child or baby to be in the seats! My 4 year old was able to tip over the basket way too easily with my 11 month old daughter in the child seat buckled in while I let go to grab something off the shelf. The basket slammed on the ground and she slammed her face on the ground. She started screaming at the top of her lungs and not one employee came to check on us. I tried to clean her in the bathroom and quickly left to take her to the ER since her face was swelling and I couldn't stop the bleeding. An employee watched me walk out of the store with her screaming and bleed and my 4 year old crying and didn't ask what happened or if I needed help or anything. I have filed a complaint with corporate but they don't seem to care that their baskets tip so easily. They don't care that children could be injured again. They only blame my son and the store manager gave me excuse after excuse that she was in the store and didn't hear a thing. Which I don't believe for a second because anyone who has heard and baby cry in that kind of pain knows how loud the scream can truly be. Overall the way they are handling this major safety issue is truly disappointing and parents need to know how UNSAFE their baskets are. This is the second time I have gone to this location in the past two weeks and have dealt with rude employees. Today I came in and was helped by someone named Suzy S. I believe. I asked if they had three ring hole punch and white paper. She said Nope very rudely. I said ok.... do you have binders or anything to that extent? She said "do you realize your at Michaels which is a craft store not an office store, just go to staples". I was appalled! This is by far the very worst Michaels location. Staff is incredibly rude and not helpful. A checker named Jesse made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and solidified exactly why I am never coming back. Another staff member referred to me as a "random customer" when asking a question to fellow Michaels employees for me over their internal microphone system. At a large Christmas party last night in Folsom, EVERYONE told me not to go to this location because of the horrible staff. I should have listened and have learned my lesson. read more

I had the best customer service experience from the staff in the framing department. They took the time to help me figure out custom work for 5 pieces of work. They took the time to help find the right color paler and get everything to tie in together. The 5 pieces came out to over $500, this was less than other local shops I had looked at. read more

I would like to preface this by saying, I love Michael's. I have been to at least a dozen over the years. When looking for one close to where I am staying, I noticed the oddly low rating of this one and thought it strange. How could a Michael's be so bad? Well, it is that bad. The store is small, cramped, and TOTALLY disorganized. Who the heck is in charge of their merchandising here? An ADHD monkey on a sugar high? The setup is totally nonsensical. It is very crowded, probably because people are just circling the store trying to find things! Also things are split into multiple locations, hole punches..3 locations. Glitter...5 locations. Those are just the ones I saw, there could be even more. What I did find, was a mess. MANY things were in the wrong place or mixed up. Stop! step off from dollar store and Walmart... I don't get it. I went here because is is right next door to Home Depot where I was trying to buy a stencil package for painting letters and HD does not carry em. Michaels is so run down. At one point in the process, there were 7-8 people in line with only two tellers open. The pain of watching kids begging their parents for junk candy bars in line put me over the edge. Why does every store think that selling candy bars up front is a good idea? maybe good for $$$ but makes the place look cheep. read more

I have had issues at this location MULTIPLE times, the lay out and organization of the store is confusing, all like products are not together. The cashiers have issues in regards to multitasking and knowing how their point of sale system operates. Each time I have spent more than the necessary time waiting to be rung out for 3 or less items! Their physically posted sales are not tied with their p.o.s. system and thus it creates confusion and frustration for the workers and the customers. I have been over charged, rung out twice, coupons not applied, and wasted more time then needed. I will say however that the selection is awesome, there are good sales frequently, the location is extremely convenient, and most of the employees are lovely and helpful. read more

i tried to complain directly to Michaels online, but their online customer complaint form cycles you out - you can't actually file a complaint, only buy stuff. Strike One. Susan was my cashier today. She took my two purchases for which I had two separate coupons. The register would only recognize one coupon, so it charged full price for the second item. Strike Two. Really? Nothing anywhere says only one coupon per transaction. Thats two strikes against corporate. I said please remove it, I will just buy the one and then go back in line and buy the other. She completed the sale of one, I asked for the other item back. She told me, oh one of the other ladies just took it to restock so its gone. Strike Three. I had already told her I was going to stand in line again and buy it. So it was the only one of that item in stock (watercolor), I said who took it? She said she didn't know. She said you'd have to go back to the watercolor section. I did. Nothing and no one there. I had another employee call everyone on the walkie talkie to see who took it. No one responded. I have become somewhat of a Michaels connoisseur during my wedding planning process, and I must commend this Folsom Michaels for being among the very cleanest and well stocked in the region. They have a TON of open stock paper and cardstock, rubber stamps, scrapbooking stickers, etc. TONS! This is probably to the detriment of other crafting supplies, but since I have been working on some DIY invitations and envelopes, this place has been outstanding. I go to micheals for the convenience.. It's not even 5 mins. away from my house and the service is usually OK . Today I officially will never step foot in the store again!!! I came in to buy an item with a coupon that finally I didn't let expire and my mom gave me hers so I could pick up an item that she wanted. I broke them off separate and used mine along with a lot of other regular priced items. When I went to purchase something for my mother using her coupon they said not only can I not use it but don't come in to the store that day to try and use it. The lady then said her job wasn't worth doing this for me.REALLY!!! I just got off the phone with my mom who was driving over there to buy all new frames for her house. I asked for the manager and said, " look I come in here all the time you can see I bought a lot of things not just to use the coupon and I needed to pick some thing up for my mom you are telling me I can't go back to the store to use this coupon? He said NO. I called my mom and said we are not going to this store again meet me at aaron brother across the street and we will take our business there. If you ask the employees at check out if they have an extra coupon they act like they are classified and you just asked for top secret info from the NSA. I went into the store after getting an organizing flyer and guess what our east bidwell store was out of every single item that I went in there for. I didn't even see a tag for several of the items that are suppose to be new in the re-collection section. This store and it's employees make me wish that Joann's would mail me coupons more frequently! It has been like this for the past 5 years I can't believe that corporate hasn't cleaned house yet STARTING with the person who does their merchandise ordering and inventory!
