So I was pleasantly surprised on my first ever visit to Folsom Michaels. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Approachable. Did not scurry away:) I was wowed. Michaels is what I would categorize a "big box" store. Therefore, helpful and approachable are not words one typically associates with these kind of stores. So big thank you all for that! My reason for the visit was to find pens with red and green ink and with a thicker point. Not a fine point. I was going to be addressing Christmas cards and wanted a festive look. Believe it or not I had been to many stores, and even Amazon... with no luck. Several other retailers had suggested Michaels. Well, they were right. One of those helpful employees personally walked me to the section with writing implements. And, voilà, there they were. Yay! There were quite a few pens from which to choose. And it was a BOGO half off. My lucky day. Check out was fast. Even though a real salesperson helped me, I noticed quite a few self check out kiosks. And customers were using them. So the long lines moved quickly. In summary, this is a clean and organized store with great employees who are willing to assist shoppers. There appeared to be a lot of inventory including lots of Christmas decorations at very reasonable prices. There is a huge parking lot. So all the boxes are checked. I Absolutely, 100 percent, recommend Michaels for your shopping needs. read more

I will give two stars because I have had *OK* experiences with framing in the past (except one time when something was custom framed completely crooked). This week I went in with an existing frame that I had ordered online. Unfortunately it was cut a little too long, but I figured that would be an easy fix for a framing shop. I asked the Michael's framing employee if they can help me modify an existing frame. She pointed to the back room and said "With what?" I explained that I don't know what tools or capabilities they have and that is why I was asking. She said "You would need a miter saw to do that." Again, I said I do not know what tools you have back there. Left the store shaking my head, such weird horrible customer service, no advice on where to go, etc... I will try to avoid Michael's in the future. read more

Robin in Framing was bossy and rude. She insisted on telling me what frame was right for my pictures despite me telling her I didn't like it. She laughed like I was an idiot when I told her I didn't want a white trim inside my mat board. I'll find somewhere else to get frames in the future. read more

Mary C. Was so incredibly helpful to me and I had the best experience at the store. She was able to help me with a complicated return to ensure that I was able to take back my merchandise. She went out of her way to be not only kind, but also competent. I really truly appreciated all her efforts. Michael's always has really good sales and I love their framing department as well. I was in a need of photo albums and scrapbooks. The real hard copy versions and not digital. So I dropped on into the Michael's in Folsom. It's a big box home decor, arts and craft shop in the Broadstone Center on the corner of Broadstone Parkway and East Bidwell Street. I haven't been in a Michael's since pre-pandemic. So I took my time walking the aisles and looking at the merch. I was geeking out looking at all the crafting supplies and home decor. The Folsom shop is a bit bigger in square footage than several of the other local Sacramento Michael's. So the shelves may not be filled to the gills because it's a big store to fill up. But it does have all the basic arts and crafts materials and then some. Overall the prices weren't discount bargains but not fru fru extravagant either. As I browsed, I past staff working in certain areas. Everyone was friendly and willing to provide assistance. I bought a couple of photo albums. They had a large and varying selection. So much so, I had a hard time making a decision. Price points varied as well. Luckily for me, they were on sale for BOGO for half off. Tip: always check their website for scannable coupons; they seem to always offer a 40% off coupon for one retail (non sale) priced item. read more

This Michaels store is clean, organized, and staffed by friendly, helpful people. I have always had great service at their custom framing counter. The people who work there are professional and have a very good eye for what looks good, My framed artwork has always turned out truly great! JoAnn fabrics was place to go for patterns fabric and notions. The media told us that Michaels was going to provide more fabric patterns and notions. It hasn't happened. Not enough people to help. Not when I have dropped in. The fabric area is a mess and disorganized. Very sad. read more

My husband and I went in last night to drop off two prints to be framed and matted. We arrived at the framing counter at 7:15pm. The Michael's employee was finishing up with someone else, and we would've been next. She asked us if we were "picking up," and we said no, we need to place an order. She asked us if we knew what we wanted; we said yes. Then she told us that when she finished up with those people, she needed to "clean up and I'm by myself tonight." We asked her when was closing time, and she confirmed that they were open until 9pm. My husband said, "That's in an hour and 45 minutes." Again, she said "I'm by myself tonight, and I need to clean up." My husband and I looked at each other, surprised, and stepped away to decide what we were going to do. I was really offended that she didn't want to help us with something that would've taken 20 minutes or less because we knew exactly what we wanted, and there was still 1 hour + 45 minutes left before closing. We opted to walk away. On our way out, we asked a cashier if we could speak to the store manager. We were told there was "a manager on duty, but not the store manager." The cashier was very nice & helpful and had a manager come over to speak with us. We explained our encounter with the framing person. Once again to our surprise, the manager nodded and was in full agreement with the framing dept. employee. The only thing she said was, "Well the framing department usually closes at 8pm." We never saw any signage that said the framing dept closes at 8pm. But even so, that still would've given us 45 minutes to place our order. The manager just nodded and muttered something (barely audible) that might have been "I'm sorry." But both my husband and I were so shocked by the total lack of customer service that we simply walked out. I have been a customer at Michael's for decades. Not anymore. After the horrible treatment we received last night, we will drive over to Roseville and shop at Hobby Lobby. read more

I ordered materials online for a slime party and they were ready in less than an hour-text notifications were so convenient. They were also discounted compared to their in store prices. The online orders will be in an area called Grab and Go. Quick and easy. It was a hassle-free experience. Micheal's is my favorite craft store. read more

This particular store lost me as a customer today. After I was finished shopping, I went to the check out area to pay and was asked how I was paying. Once I respond, the cashier told me I needed to use self check-out. I stated that I would prefer not to and asked if they were short staffed; the response was "no, it's corporate." She then offered to assist and scan my items. Once scanned she simply walked away, leaving my items unbagged on the counter. No further directions, no explanation that I would need to bag my own items. Nothing. Customer service goes a long way and this store absolutely failed today. I just want to share my point of view and the reader can decide if they still want to do business with our frame shop. When you arrived, at no point did I turn you away and tell you that I CANNOT help you. Our frame shop takes pride in designing a framed piece that you will be happy to hang up. This is not a rushed process (even if you knew what you wanted.) Getting your information in the computer, taking measurements of your art, asking how much of art you would like showing, choosing from over 100 mat colors, asking about mat margins, choosing the right frame from over 100 frames, frame sizes, preference of glass or acrylic, hanging hardware options , preference of protection plans, payment preferences, taking Michael's Rewards information ...this all takes over 20 min. And you seemed to be holding multiple pieces of art. Even if you knew what you wanted, it was not going to be as quick as you made it sound. And let's not forget I was already assisting a customer who had an oversized 4 foot art piece (no, I was not anywhere near "finishing up" with this customer). I had the feeling you expected assistance right away and when I offered the available counter for you to choose your mats/frames, you chose not to stay or patiently wait for my assistance. The frame shop does not "close at 8", we start the clean up process so we can provide a clean shop to frame our customers' valuable art. That same night you and your husband came in, I had a framing customer at 8:15. She was not turned away. I was available, stopped my cleaning, and assisted to help her with a shadowbox order which took us about 40-45 min. I had my daughter sixth birthday party at Michael's. She had a wonderful time and all the girls did art projects together. The only thing that was hard is the size of the room. It was a little tight to walk around. Everybody was kind, caring, and very helpful even before the party happen I receive calls asking questions about what I wanted for the party. I was able to bring food and cake and they provided plates and napkins and cups. read more

Ahhhh Michaels, how I adore you. Stepping into this store as an adult takes me right back to that feeling of coming here when I was a child with my mom. This store is awesome. Always check online for their coupons for 20% off your total purchase or 40% off one item. They always have sales inside the store as well with items marked down up to 80% off. Obviously if you do crafting projects of any kind, this is the place to go. I like Hobby Lobby too but Michaels will always be my first love. The floral section is fantastic during the holidays. And they always have something cute I purchase for home decor. Planner girls will enjoy this store too as they have some items from planner girls on Etsy who made it big and now their items are sold at Michaels. I also enjoy coming in here to pass the time and as a stress reliever just to look around. I always end up purchasing something. Meh, I really want to give this place more than three stars but lately the lines here have been HORRIBLE. It's been challenging to find the most basic things i need (some items not even on the shelves). I have seen too many people in this store walk in WITHOUT a mask and honestly this I NOT OKAY. More staff need to be attentive when customers don't even have a mask around them. The store has so much inventory and so many customer needs, there never seems to be enough people that work here to address phone calls, cleaniness, customer service issues and more. I try to avoid this place due to the lack of customer service and disappointment of ensuring everyone who walks in wears a mask. read more

I was trying to salvage a painting that was damaged from the original frame. I visited the Michael's store in Folsom and was greeted by Dan in framing. Dan is fantastic! He is knowledgeable and delivered great customer service. Dan immediately removed the damaged frame and offered solutions to covering the damage to the painting with creative framing. We have used Michaels for framing service numerous times over the years with good success (the hardest part of the process is putting together the appropriate frame & mat selection). Recently, we had above & beyond help/success with 2 framing projects; WWII photo of our recently deceased 90 year old father/grandfather & a graduation diploma for our daughter-in-law. The end result of these 2 projects was fantastic thanks to employee Ido! This gentlemen, an art major in college, was patient & seemed to instinctively know the best combination of frame, mat types & mat colors! Worst service ever at Michaels a few minutes ago. Clerk would not check people out and made everyone go to self checkout even when they weren't comfortable or were having an issue. And she was yelling across the checkout area with instructions when again the person was having difficulty and was absolutely not able to move forward checking out. You have registers. Use them for those that want or need it. Seriously! I feel sorry for the woman who was being yelled at across the checkout area in front of other customers. read more

This is a smaller location in comparison to other Michael's stores. They do have a nice selection of crafts and many different art and paint products that should appeal to the more creative customer looking for some new equipment. However, the store is almost always unorganized and a bit messy. The staff doesn't seem to keep up with de cluttering the aisles or putting misplaced items back where they belong which can cause confusion for shoppers. read more

I went to Michaels today to buy picture frames and adhesive mounting tape. When I asked the first employee for help, she was too busy and directed me to the framing department. As I walked to the back I saw two employees; one employee was helping customers while the other employee (female with short strawberry blonde hair), was standing behind a register. I approached the free employee and said, "Hi there." She was taking a drink from a straw, finished, and just looked at me with no response. I asked her, "Do you not say hello?" She replied in the most indignant way, "I'm not on duty, but I guess I can help you." I clearly did not want her help after that response, so I said "No worries" and walked away. This was a Monday morning a little after 10 am and the store was not busy. Absolutely horrible service. read more

This is the best Michael's in the Sacramento burbs by far. LOTS of parking and it's in the big shopping center with Home Depot, Old Navy, etc. They have the best papercrafting section of all the Michael's... Well organized and I never have to wait in line. Get your craft on!! read more

My first purchase at this location! Thankful to get education discount, and have SO CLOSE to my college campus. Came in between work/site visits SPECIFICALLY to score scrapbook and journal supplies. 60-70% off all items I purchased tonight, which was nice. Now, the Michaels by my home (Roseville) is MUCH bigger, but items I wanted were not in stock. Folsom location clean, and nearby several other businesses I frequent (nice.) Sales clerk was VERY helpful, and reminded me to use my 60% coupon on big item purchased (regular price.) We do a LOT of project work at office, home office, and Women's Group. Tonight's finds were definitely a score for all, plus great items to add to donation baskets! WIN WIN! read more

This location consistently allows extended lines at the check out counter. Help is called and yet the other associates are more interested in stocking the shelves than ringing up sales. Visit the Rancho Cordova location or better yet, Hobby Lobby, which is opening up a location in Citrus Heights at the old Toys R Us location. read more

The people who helped me were nice. BUT. The matting that I ordered was cut in a way that resembled hot garbage. The lines are crooked, there's areas where it's over cut and it's plain as day when you look at it. This is the worst 30 dollars I have ever spent in my life. I can't believe the audacity to charge 30 dollars for 8x11 in the first place. But, the nerve to send it out to a customer like that? I'm not going to bother returning it. I live way too far away (1 hour 45 minutes from where I live) to justify the cost to make that trip again. THIRTY DOLLARS for matting. JUST matting! Hobby Lobby has a superior framing department. I'll just continue making the drive to those stores instead of having Michaels even handle matting. Ridiculous. read more

HORRIBLE customer service by the manager. (I didn't catch her name, but it was a shorter female with short spikey hair) we purchased two 5ft painting canvases and the employee that helped us originally was a younger gal that was PHENOMENAL - we needed to go pick up a larger vehicle as the canvases did not fit in the car that we brought, so we paid for them in full and she said that she would hold them up front while we went to grab the truck. (20mins tops) We arrived to pick up the canvases - the manager tried to hold them hostage and said it's not their policy to let people pick up items ...?? We explained the situation, confirmed proof of payment, and even directed her to the wonderful employee that helped us 20mins earlier with the purchase. The manager proceeded to scold the employee in front of several customers and other employees. (The reason for the scolding, The timing of the reprimand, and the language that was used was highly inappropriate in soooooo many ways). The manager THEN proceeded to scold ME and told me this is not their policy to hold items so customers have a proper vehicle for pick up... blah blah blah. I happened to be in the area for work so I stopped at this location for a few open stock markers, and i grabbed a few small things on my way to that section. I was very surprised to find that they were locked up since both arden and truxel only keep the copic ones locked and not AL too. Wasn't a huge deal since I knew which ones I needed. What I couldn't understand was why the $4 and $8 markers were locked but not the $6 ones?? I walked towards framing to ask for someone to unlock the markers as I was walking that way 2 employees started walking in my direction so I stopped and turned towards them -nothing. I then said excuse me -didnt even get that far, when one of them just says "I'll be with you in a minute" and they both keep walking in the direction they were going. Another employee who was standing nearby sees this and then just looked away. Seriously all they would have had to do was just page someone on their ear piece to help me but no, and really given that you're walking away from me I highly doubt you're actually going to help me in a minute. So you pretty much just refused to help me. Let alone ask if I need help god forbid. I was so aggravated by all of it. I just set my basket down and left. If you want people to purchase products you have to let them be able to, well, purchase your products! read more

My mom and I visited this location yesterday to buy supplies to make baby shower invitations. We were in the store for quite awhile looking for what we needed and not one employee acknowledged us or asked if we needed help. When we finally were able to track someone down she wasn't much help and was very stand offish, It was obvious she was irritated we asked for help. She was going to unlock a cabinet for us and then just walked away. We didn't even get the calligraphy pen we needed. When we got to the registers there were about 3 people in line, and only 1 register open ! I was burnt out from being in the store that long and being 6 months pregnant, the last thing I wanted to do was stand in line. This store was not very organized either and scattered. read more

I came here today after having a really bad morning; I have wanted to "glitter" my bathroom for months and I finally decided to make time. An employee, Briana, helped me find the items needed and even downloaded a 40% off coupon to my phone for me to use. She explained how to mix the glitter into the glue, apply it etc. so my toilet will be a shiny glittery gold & make me feel a little better while stuck in this nightmare of a house. Eventually I'm going to glitter the entire house & maybe spray paint some mannequins with glitter too & post them up in the front yard....I need something to laugh at nowadays.... read more

The day after x mas shopping, i went to 2 different michaels and i felt like they had different sales or maybe they marked it down even more later in the day. Well i went to the rancho location which i had found the same items for 50% off and this location is 70%, anyways just thought it was kind of weird. When i walked in here i was greeted by the friendly employee and i asked here where it is placed at in the store. She was helpful and told me under the seasonal section and here i went marching through the crowd to find the thing i was looking for. When i saw the item with a lower mark down than the rancho location, my eyes were glowing with joy. I had emptied the whole shelf, and doubt me for saving some for other shoppers hehe.... Then went straight to the cashiers and the line was a bit long, but the cashier was a friendly hot mess. She must have had a log day and need a break. She was helping me count, but don't rely on them because some can't multitask. Almost got charged twice 10x haha.... so ya better stay alert or else gotta stay int he return line for a refund. Anyways over 70 items for only $25 lets just say i was a happy shopper. A helpful hint is if you are a app user friendly, download the michaels app, and the newspaper coupons are on it. Therefore you are helping the environment with being paperless and getting a fat discount depending on what you buy. Anyways the app is glitchy but at the same time, help saves your piggy bank. I'm not going there anymore. I am a new school teacher. I went to Micheals to get supplies for my new classroom. Using their microphone, they announced a special gift for teachers along with 15% off. I was excited to receive it since I was only buying things for my class. After gathering my supplies, I headed to the counter. Since I am a new teacher, I do not have my ID badge yet. (I'll be getting it in a few days). I have an e-mail confirming my new teaching position and my teaching website visible on my phone. Both prove I am a teacher. Was that enough? No. I didn't even care for the free gift. I would have just appreciated the 15% off. Since they could clearly see that my items were for the classroom. But no, nothing.
