The name "Fast Track Hobbies" doesn't give the impression that is shop is actually a well stocked hobby shop. Upon reviewing their Yelp page my only clue that they stocked model kits was their selection of paints. This shop was a pleasant surprise as I was in the area by chance and was hoping to find a place to kill some time and maybe find some cool items. My first feeling was they focused mostly on RC and slot car racing. But the more I walked the store I found many great items. Their aisle of model kits included a broad range of selections. From cars to military to sci-fi. I spent at least 20 minutes browsing the aisle. Some items I've never seen in person. They also have a broad selection of paints as well. Many different brands, colors, and mediums. A really nice shop that I look forward to stopping by again. read more

Good guys, lots of variety in hobby (model kits, radio control, small children hobbies.

The employees at this business act like they're inconvenienced by the customer, but I can't really fault them completely, because the employees don't really have the best example to follow. The owner is the most grumpy, snippy and impatient of them all. If you don't know the exact name or part number of what you need, you get eye rolls, sighs and interruptions. After spending a few grand getting into RC at Fast Track Hobbies, I just can't give them my business any longer, which is sad because it will ad an extra hour of drive time, round trip, to get to a different shop that is happy to help me with my RC needs. My plea to the owner is to just be kind and patient with the paying customers that come to you for help with the hobbies they love. read more

OMG! This place is FABULOUS! So, I inherited an ugly Christmas sweater and discovered it has lights, but...someone had CUT the battery pack and there were no batteries. Only half of what is needed was left. Bummer. Now I need to figure out how to fix it..I checked all the online ugly sweater companies, YouTube, Reddit, even Batteries Plus (they have every battery you need, except what I needed) now I'm at my whits end! Then I remembered the hobby shop I've taken my grandson to for slot car racing- try it. Your kids/grandkids will love it. I showed the gentleman what I had and because he's a genius, he figured it out and was able to fix my sweater lights! AND at a great price! I was sooooo thankful. Side note, while I was there I heard "them" -customers & employees- talking about an upcoming racers reunion, a potluck they're having there, and upcoming races. It seems they do a lot of fun stuff for their customers. I highly recommend this place! read more

Best Hobby Shop in Sacramento area. My 8 year old loves coming here for slot track racing and they even have a racing simulator. I've purchased and had repairs done on RC cars and their staff are incredibly knowledgeable and very helpful. I'll drive an extra 40 minutes to support this shop instead of the other guys in town. Went here with my husband to look for some wheels for a pine derby truck he hand made. I never been to a hobby shop like this before and it was pretty well Stocked with all sorts of puzzles, auto, airplane model box kits, beautiful array of hobby paint for model projects , and some odd and end supplies and gift items. I had fun looking around the store by myself while he sought out things he needed. The employees who work there were super friendly as well. All and all s cool unique shop! read more

Such a great store! My kids had such a fun time looking at the toys and RC cars, and watching the slot cars. I bought an RC car before Christmas and tested it out when I got home and the drive wasn't working. Came back in right before Christmas and one of the guys troubleshooted that the remote wasn't transmitting. He swapped it out for his personal remote (as he was going to upgrade anyways) so I had it running for Christmas morning. We've had so much fun driving the RC car and I couldn't have had a better experience with Fast Track! Thank you, we'll be back for more! read more

A go-to place for RTRs! They have a wide selection of RTRs, Traxxas and Axial parts. They also have a good display of MIP tools. Anything you can't find in-store, they can order for your convenience. Most of the people who work here are young. It is the age opposite of RC Country in Sacramento. Most of them need more experience but if they don't know something, they'd go ask their coworker or if they really don't know what you're asking, they'd look on the internet because Google is our friend in this lifetime. One thing I don't like is how they tell the customers to not touch the displayed models on the track. They're very keen on that. I bought my Bachmann Thomas Christmas train set here sometime in October. Silly me did not unbox it until December when warranty is out. My controller only lasted 2 days after unboxing. Otherwise, I support this business. Bought a lot of RTRs here, I think 5 now. read more

I have been to more then a few handfuls of rc shops or hobby shops in different areas, this one by far is the cleanest and most organized that I have been too. Just came in to look for my son newest interest to get an idea of cost for which rc car, truck, boat, plane, bike would be. The staff is helpful, during our walk around we were asked if we needed assistance more then a handful of times. On the far back left side was two techs working on repairs for other users rc cars, the huge tracks that they have indoors are very detailed. The first I have seen where 3 tracks are all indoors in the same facility, and they were not flat they all had curves, concave in design, painted, with blockers to keep the cars in Only thing I did not see was drift build kits, or drift cars other then that everything you can imagine that could be an rc was there. Definitely worth the visit if in the area RC inventory **** had almost everything price $-$$$ depends on what you are trying to build service ***** very friendly ambiance ***** clean, very organized, 3 large tracks indoors read more

I bought my son a remote controlled truck over a year ago and started having problems with it. I brought it in and they diagnosed what they thought was the problem. I was told something along the lines like it's 5 bucks for every 15 minutes they work on it and I agreed that was ok. The guy spent 30-40 minutes working on it, replacing parts only to find out it was the main servo motor. He told me it was a complete wash and didn't charge me for labor or parts. I appreciate the honesty and integrity of a business like this. I will definitely be back to buy a new truck soon. read more

Stopped into the shop for the 1st time today and all I needed was a $20 battery. I was helped immediately. When I was told that they might not have my battery based on the connection the DID NOT turn me away, in fact they found another battery at basically the same specs and physical size, cut the connection off of my outdated battery and solder it to the new battery. They did that at NO CHARGE by the way! In addition to that when I asked about a different product, the guy that helped me had no problem getting down off the shelf and actually opening the package to show me... I feel that was excellent customer service to a customer only spending $20. read more

I'm going to start off by saying these people don't care about you or your business and their choice of mangers is ridiculous. I feel like a manger should have customer service down before being promoted however that's not the case here specificity Justin that guy thinks he's superior to others and speaks with cocky tone. Very unprofessional and rude person to be a manger. However most of the remaining staff are amazing including Quincy and Tony it's just unfortunate that they have that worker that just lost this place thousands of dollars. Extremely cocky, overpriced, and the 5% credit card fee is a slap in the face after waiting 20 minutes in line. This one is convenient since its right off the freeway but you'll lose all that time you thought you saved because the line is so long or the employees are busy talking amongst themselves. Multi part review. First is the selection; 5 stars for sure. And I had no idea what I was looking for but could tell they had it all. We ended up in the RC plane area. Second is customer service; 2 stars. My son and I walked around for 10 minutes without being greeted. We then waited behind 4 or 5 employees that were with 1 customer at the fix it area and no one offered to help us. So I walked over to the register and was waiting for the cashier to finish ringing up his customer to help us. But he left the counter with his customer to go look for parts. At this point I had to interrupt the group conversation at the fix it area. They then helped me right away. However, after asking some questions. They only gave me two options and only pulled one off the shelf. Both items were over $100 so I was hoping and expecting more detail and advice but they did review the one I decided to purchase with me so that was helpful. Last is Covid protocol. 0 stars. More like Covid who? I counted approx 16 people in the store from the time i entered. Including customers and staff. ZERO of the 8+ staff wore a mask, sanitized, or social distanced during our interactions. I only witnessed 2 customers masking the entire time we were in the store. It's just blatantly disrespectful to your customers. read more

I had a poor experience ordering parts through the store. They promised to call when my part arrived, but after weeks of waiting, I called them. They rudely said, "if we didn't call, we don't have your part," only to find out later that my part had been on the shelf for a week and they forgot to call me. Never had a good experience form this place and always left mad or confused. Just order your parts or cars online and make your life easy by not ever going here. read more

This place is great! I drove my kids out from SF to try out the three HUGE slot car tracks and we had an absolute blast. The staff were all super friendly and helpful and really made us feel right at home for our first time there. The three tracks are top notch and we had such a fun time at a very reasonable price. The selection of hobby stuff is pretty amazing too. This is a place the whole family can enjoy! I only wish it were closer to San Francisco! read more

This is a great place for RCs and the guys were more than happy to get the car down that I wanted. My review is foe tge cuatomer fee that is added to purchase. I already spent $820 dollars on a car, charger and battery. They dont tell you there is fee for using debit or cc but it was another $35 for the fee. I asked to void and i can get cash and now waiting for reversal for the void. 4 days later and tge sale still hasnt gone through let alone tge credit back. They need to advise of fee. read more
