michael's corporate policy is to give everyone a coupon. Your store should have a coupon log where you sign your name and zip code and they will give you 40% off your highest priced item. If the cashier gives you a hard time speak to the manager. if he or she won't help you, go to the customer care area of the michael's website and let corporate know. you will very soon get your coupon!! In canada we never refuse a customer request for a complimentary coupon, I don't understand why so many people have a hard time with the coupons. read more

I came to buy a paper cutter and the lines were moving extremely slow even with two cashier's. But that is not the reason for the one star! The reason for the one-star is I needed to use their restroom and Not only was there toilet paper on the floor coming out of the restroom. When I walked in there was toilet paper on the floor big rolls of toilet paper the sinks were dirty there was no soap for the sinks the soap dispenser was broken and on the floor. In the Stalls both stalls toilets were extremely dirty with urine. In the handicap stall there was urine on the seats and it looked like feces on the wall. You can tell that both toilets have not been cleaned in a while, Both toilet paper dispensers were broken. I was extremely disgusted and this has been the worst bathroom I have ever set foot in besides a third world country. I turned around and left the building. If this bathroom has anything to say as to how this store is run I will probably never step foot in this location again. Can't imagine how employees are okay with having bathrooms like this. Even management! I chose not to even take pictures or post because it was that disgusting. read more

Disclaimer: I'm having a very hard time with the 5-star rating system for this review. I've had such a range of experiences at Michaels... but ultimately I've always left with the craft items I needed (or even some I haven't exactly needed). Rarely will someone really help you if you have questions, which I find particularly annoying in a store like Michaels where the goal is often to try out new craft projects. If you go up to the registers, usually someone will just blurt out an aisle or general area that you might find your item. One visit out of a dozen, an employee walked me to the item I was looking for. Pros - The baking department seems like it is always expanding - I like the selection of Martha Stewart paints (great for painting glass ornaments!) - The scrap booking area is huge! There are rows and rows of stickers and paper - Coupons! It's easy to get your total of shrink! *Tip* Download Michaels app for your smart phone and have easy access to weekly coupons! Cons - The framing section. It's expensive but there's always a coupon for 30%, which I find annoying. - Clearance. It's all over the store in random spots and then there's also a dedicated aisle that is a huge mess. read more

This was the Michaels that helped make my wedding happen. I found the perfect colored ribbon for our favors. I swear I was in here every weekend, with a coupon in hand, up until a week or two before we got married. They were also good about returns. I actually bought way too many spools of the ribbon because I was getting married in Hawaii, where they have no Michaels. So I bought a few extra in case we needed it (better safe than sorry!). I returned the unused spools and they gave me a combo of cash back and money back on a gift card (because some of my receipts were over 30 days old). read more

Just stopped in to check out the yarn selection, and it was amazingly terrible. Way worse than other Michael's stores I've visited in other cities. They do have lots of colors of Patons Classic Wool and Lion Brand Fishermen's Wool, so that's cool, but other than that, you're out of luck. read more

I'm sorry but how can a craft store be under debate for less than 5 stars. Michael's always has what I need not to mention they have killer sales that sponsor my scrapbooking addiction. My Fiance may not like it but I just point him towards the paint supplies to shut him up. I've been to crazy expensive craft stores and yea they are all artsy and just that...expensive. Michael's carries the good stuff and the cheap stuff and who cares if it looks like a grocery store. I don't make many trips to Michaels, but when I do, I find myself spending at least an hour in there, perusing the aisles and getting inspired to start craft or knitting projects. Simultaneously, I think I'm allergic to the place--I always leave there sneezing and sniffling. It must be potpourri or something. This is why Michaels gets 4 out 5 stars--my sinuses abhor the place. Other than that, it's a great store for anyone remotely crafty. After visiting Bazaar Bizarre this weekend, I've become super-inspired to start making stuff and possibly selling it. Michaels has a great bead and yarn selection, as well as pretty much else you would want--glue guns, paints of all sorts, baskets, kits for kids, scrapbooking supplies, and holiday decorations. However, I discovered that there's virtually nothing there for fabric notions; all the stuff like elastic is tucked way in the back, and the selection of that kind of stuff is very limited. Also, I found that a lot of their stuff was very "cutesy" and hard to find anything alternative--I want little skull and crossbone-shaped buttons, damn it! I guess that's what's to be expected from a chain store though. Regardless, it's a great place to go for your next project, or just to get some inspiration. I love Michael's. it's a store that just has so many goodies with great sales,however,I was upset to receive such poor customer service. We are getting closer to the Easter holiday and of course there's last minute shopping. When you're job description is customer service it does not matter the time of day or night you are attending the customers. The service needs to be pleasant. This young lady attending me with no smile no greetings begins to ring up my items and I apologized while separating 2 items that I needed to pay and she gives me frustrated look. I have worked at Michael's and that one review was correct. We have what is called coupon exemption. If you forgot your coupon or did not receive one ask the cashier for the coupon exemption and you will get the same discount as if you had a coupon. Make sure that they ring up the most expensive regular priced item last so the discount comes off of that item. read more

When I first went in there in the morning I noticed the store was a complete mess, boxes every where, all over the floor and the employees that where on the floor were to busy putting away product to offer me any help. The one employee I manged to get a hold of, I believe her name was Lauren, she was a totally rude and really no help at all and was completely oblivious to the questions I was asking her, and she made me feel like I was wasting her time and when she told me she was going to get help I watched her walk away into there stock room and when she came back she just walk past me and smiled. All in all I am totally dissatisfied in my visit to michaels and even more dissatisfied with the employee costumer service or lack there of. Also on my out I bumped into the one of the mangers, she was bigger lady and had a overwhelming condescending attitude towards one her cashiers who seemed very shy and embarrassed and it really a very unpleasant thing to see. I wish I could give zero stars based on the conversation I just had with the manager at this Michael's location. I purchased nine frames from them and they quickly fell apart. Based solely on the fact that I hoped to return the frames beyond 60 days after purchase, the manager rudely told me there was nothing he could do. When asked if he expected frames to hold up for more than 60 days and whether they stand by their products, I was told there was nothing they could do without a receipt and the frames returned in their original package. This conversation was useless, aggravating and disappointing, especially for someone who has a background in customer care. I will never shop at a Michael's again because I expect products to hold up longer than two months. I also expect some respect from a manager of all people. I will gladly take my business to smaller stores that stand behind their product, give customers proper care and do not have such rigid and ridiculous policies. read more

Just had a frustrating experience here. The circular stated that all shadow boxes were 40% off this week, and I had a bonus coupon for 20% off regular and sale price of entire purchase of shadow boxes. So, after finally finding said boxes, i decided to get the black ones at $10. clearance each rather than the white ones I liked better at $20 each. This is for a project at my daughter's school, so I wanted to save them as much money as possible. After waiting about 10 minutes for the one open register, I was told that my "clearance" items were not the same as "sale" items, so I did not get the 40% off or the 20% off from the bonus coupon. With the coupons the white ones would have been cheaper! I was steamed and out of time and patience so left with my purchase. I am still deciding whether i am going to waste more time and return the black ones and buy the white ones. There is a reason I only go to Michael's a couple times a year, and even that may end now. read more
