Their selection of frames is awesome. They have everything ranging from conservative to funky and edgy. The service is top shelf especially with Amanda Hellman. She is by far the best Optician I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. I took my girlfriend there and Amanda was terrific. Patient and engaged. Everywhere my girlfriend goes she gets compliments on her eyewear. Her prescription normally make her lenses look thick but not with Shear Opticians. I was browsing while there and ended up purchasing two frames which are both very kool! Melissa Shear is an excellent Optometrist so it is a one stop shop. I highly recommend! Note: it says Ultimate eye wear on the deal, but the store is named Vision Center. SURROUNDING: The store is in a small, very crowded shopping center. You will find parking, but you are going to have to flag it down like you are in Trader Joe's parking lot. CARE: Dr.Gnanakkan was very nice, approachable and easy to communicate with. He was quick but thorough with my eye exam. PRICE: Most frames range from $160-$250, plastic lens $75, additional $60 or so for polycarbonate lens. Their frames choices aren't that great- they have a lot of simple ones, but not much of the brands. SERVICE: I made an appointment, but had to wait ~15 minutes to be seen.. Also, when I was waiting, I overheard the optician offering to take 50% of her polycarbonate lens and other additional discounts, but he didn't bother to offer me any. Maybe it was because I used the Livingsocial deal. BOTTOMLINE: I got a good exam, pair of plastic lens glasses, and prescription for contact for $45. Not bad at all. I found the Dr who did my eye exam to be extremely thorough and patient. The exam considered lifestyle as well as the technical testing. I also interacted with 4 employees in the store and each was super friendly and thorough and I really enjoyed the assistance from each one. Very very good service. There are a lot of nice frame selections in store. There were a lot of sunglasses options which confused me but apparently clear lens can be put in the frames ( I'm a newbie ). They sell Alain Mikli, Tom Ford, Givenchy, Michael Kors, Vera Bradley , Oliver Peoples to name a few. There are also many lower priced options. They also have really good 30 day policy that allows return of you are not happy with your new glasses. I didn't like the "building" the glasses phase. This is where you customize lenses . Again I'm a newbie but each piece involves a cost and I was not clear on the cost until I got the printout sheet which showed all. There should be a question and verification of each phase and level that you want. Such as what type of coating do you want on lens, transition, Uv protection etc. All in all I really like this business and I will return. Quick update: I actually took advantage of the 30 day return and went back and got another pair of glasses. I didn't like the pair that I originally chose. The new pair came in a week and I love them !!! Quick replacement and I added transition - there were no issues and minimal questions. That was over a month ago. Since then, I've called multiple times to follow up, and each time I'm either left on hold for a long time or told that the order is being placed. As of today, I still have not received my contacts. I paid over $300, and at this point I don't have a product I can use. The lack of communication and follow-through has been extremely frustrating. As someone with a few variations upon the theme of medical-phobia, my visit with Dr. Zuckerbrod and…read morehis staff at Ideal Family Eye Care was exceptionally rewarding and precious to me, from intake to technician services to the doctor himself to the optician.  The intake was the equivalent of "welcome home."  Shira the technician was amazing in her customer-empathy, perfectly balancing professionalism with sensitivity.  Dr. Zuckerbrod explained the condition of my eyes to precisely the depth I requested so that I would be informed but not nervous.  The first-class non-invasive technology marks wonderful progress from my experiences in other places in earlier times.  Finally, Ron the super-friendly optician really showed his experience in customer service (i.e. inform, explain, but refrain from pushing product) he gained from his prior experiences in ownership.  Overall, I clearly found myself among the right people at the right time at the right place, and it's great that both my wife and I now have had the wonderful experience of relating with the Ideal team.

I also learned they had a Groupon for $49 for the eye exam they charged me ($350). They refused to provide me a refund even though I called 10 minutes after leaving the appointment . I never received the 2 pairs of glasses I ordered. I decided to dispute the charge since I never received the glasses, they did respond to the dispute ensuring i was charged... yet I have never heard from them and till this day months later still don't have the glasses they charged me $1600 dollars for. The office moved to this current location and the staff is very calm, helpful and courteous as well. The only draw back is the smell inside as a result of a fried food restaurant beside them. But as of late, I've had two less than stellar experiences back to back and I think it's time to find a new eye doctor. (Suggestions welcome!) As mentioned above, I've been a patient here for a few years. I went in for my annual checkup, ended up buying a new contact lens from the optician and went to the front desk to pay my copay. They charged me a higher copay than normal and when I questioned it, they said that was what it was. I paid it, but went to question it with my HR department the next day at work. It turns out they charged it to my general insurance instead of my vision plan. (BTW, my plan hasn't changed this entire time I've been going here.) When I called them they said that they had a new computer system so they didn't know, and I didn't say anything at the time, so there was nothing they could do about. But when I purchased my lens from the optician, which is 5 feet away from the front desk, he somehow had the correct copay information - so why was there a disconnect? and how was I supposed to know they updated their system and lost all my insurance info? To make things worse, I received an EOB from they saying that my visit wasn't just an annual checkup but rather a medical need for dry eye - so I was charged even more for that! Then just the other day, I called the optometrist to order a replacement contact lens for the one I lost. He got snooty with me and flat out told me I couldn't order a single lens - that they never do such a thing. Amazingly enough, I told him I had ordered a single lens from them just 6 months prior and to look up my records. When he saw that I had indeed placed the same order before, he simply said, oh, I'll order it for you. So, I'll conclude with saying I need to find a new eye doctor because this place just isn't cutting it.

It's refreshing to experience a professional, fast, and friendly service. The office was clean and had such a friendly atmosphere. I don't think I have ever had such a thorough eye exam in my life. I would definitely recommend barenburg Eye Associates to all friends and family. However, these 3 stood out above the rest. Super Friendly and Professional.

Dr. Cohen is great.........however…read more Issue I have is your staff and how unprofessional they are! I dropped off my glasses because my lenses were loose. Sheryl, which many other reviews mention is unprofessional and rude took my glasses, didn't take my information and I just left there completely confused. Monday she calls to tell me glasses are in. 2 days later I drive 45 mins to pick up and they are now missing. Solution ....we will call you when we find them. Perfect and complete waste of my day.... A week later ZERO calls about my glasses after I have left several messages asking for a call back. You should have your staff take customer service classes or find new staff to fit the kindness of the doctor. Its a complete mismatch! Your response on google does not surprise me as you still do not see from the consumers eyes. Once again as many others have mentioned this office lacks customer service. This response is non apologetic with starting as "Let me remind you" Oh and thank you for now telling me after I called the office Friday and today left messages for a PHONE CALL, not a text which mind you was not received on my end at 1:29 pm today.
