His attention to detail is incredible and he looks out for his customers. This was our first time getting any work done on the house and the care that Michael and his team took while working on the house was fantastic. The initial quotes we received from Michael were fair and he delivered as stated. As with any project, you might be inclined to make changes along the way during the project and we certainly had our fair share of changes to the project. Michael's team was able to execute and deliver. One word of advice when working on projects is to try to cover the scope of work up front as much as you can. The changes here and there can certainly add up. Finally, if you do have changes, ensure you obtain the quote from the team before proceeding as there might be some sticker shock if you don't! In any case, if you come into the project with a clear plan and have all the items you want installed lined up, Michael's work is incredible. He personally worked on all the major plumbing and electrical and everything was professionally completed. His background is in plumbing and so he was very good at explaining the work that was being done. We hired Michael and his brother, Edward, to renovate our small kitchen. They did an outstanding job, and were very easy to work with. In addition to the kitchen, we had Michael tile an adjacent hallway and refresh a powder room. We also had him rip out the tiling in our entryway, and replace with wood flooring. This part of the job was a bit of a tricky because he had to thread in matching hardwood, and then refinish the floor so that everything looked as if it was always there. It came out flawless. As I mentioned above, Michael was very easy to work with, and were easily able to make adjustments as the inevitable obstacles arose. His knowledge of plumbing and electrical definitely aided in making the renovation run smoothly. For anyone considering Michael Remodeling, I would only recommend one step for you to take before the work begins. In the initial planning phases, insist on finding a time to meet Michael and his designer (who works through Studio 41) to go over plan design and details. We had a small bit of miscommunication in the beginning because I was out-ot-town quite a bit before the work was to begin. We did not meet with Michael and the designer, and I do think that would have made the experience more complete. I feel very fortunate to have found Michael. He did a major renovation of both my kitchen and bathroom, with additional work on my laundry room. For four weeks, Michael himself and an excellent colleague named Edward came every day Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., until his work was complete. He's a very unique contractor, a small business where he does all the electricity and plumbing himself. His business could be much bigger except I think he really enjoys doing the actual work more than trying to grow into a bigger company, and his relationship with Edward shows he chooses his team carefully. My understanding is he has two other employees and handles two projects at a time. He's incredibly reliable, responsive, and trustworthy. My job started quickly before I had made all my design decisions, so I added a lot of new elements Michael hadn't scoped for, particularly in the bathroom: heated floors, additional electrical work for a bidet, extra plumbing for multiple shower fixtures. In the kitchen I added a vent to the outside for a range hood, an extra-thick island countertop (Michael sourced the quartz countertops). I had him paint my upper cabinets and replace my lower ones (he sourced the base cabinets very affordably), and late in the project added replacing the upper cabinet hinges to be slow-close and add pull out shelving to the pantry cabinets, two changes that really make me feel like I have brand new upper cabinets. Michael's pricing is extremely reasonable and consistent, and after a couple of additions where I insisted on knowing the price for a change up front, I could reliably predict about how much something would cost if I added it and could absolutely trust him not to surprise me on the cost of something. We engaged Michael & his team for our basement remodeling. This was about a 6-7 week job in which the crew was out every day. It was an extensive job (framing & drywall throughout, 2 bedrooms, a mudroom, a rec room, and a full bath). Michael and his colleague did a fantastic job on our small bathroom renovation. The work was reasonably priced, they were always punctual, and best of all, finished within the timeframe I was told. He was also able to start essentially a week after I signed the contract, as well. The renovation was mostly cosmetic, as we originally thought we had a plumbing issue, but Michael was able to figure out that we didn't without having to destroy our downstairs neighbor's ceiling. Everything was taken out except the tub (it's cast iron!), and they put new tile on the shower wall and floor, new plumbing fixtures, installed a new vanity light, toilet, and hardware, as well as new drywall and paint. I work in Finance and I'm a very distrusting person. I went through about 10 listings in Angi and Yelp listings to find someone who told me the truth when it came to my renovations. So disappointed with the work that Michael & team did on our bathroom re-tiling. The tile work looks unprofessional and sloppy; the tile pattern is different in various parts of the floor and is immediately noticeable in the small space. Tiles are crooked, etc. The grout is unevenly and messily applied. They left holes in the floor where there should be tiles. I don't realistically see any way to repair the work without re-doing the entire floor. Michael asked to be given the opportunity to fix the work, but we passed. While Michael was very responsive about scheduling the assessment and the job, we had some communication issues. This was a two day job for a one-bathroom condo in Chicago. Since there is no common bathroom in our building, we went out of our way to confirm multiple times with him during the assessment and before scheduling the job that he would replace the toilet at the end of the first day. Instead, our toilet was left sitting in the middle of our bedroom floor at the end of Day 1. There was a bucket of toilet water in our living room, immediately next to the crate for our two dogs. In order to have access to a working toilet, we had to scramble to find a hotel room in the city at the last minute that would allow us to bring our dogs. Stressful and expensive. read more

I was lucky to find Michael Remodeling here on yelp. My basement bathroom project had a laundry list of tasks. Both shower and sink lines moved to adjacent walls, so drain and vent pipes also had to move. This meant digging. Another challenge was our pipe soffit, making access to plumbing and electric fairly difficult. I am still in awe of how beautiful our new home is thanks to Michael and his team. I don't know where to begin! We bought a new condo at the beginning of April and hired Michael to do a complete gut and remodel of the master bathroom and updates in the kitchen. Michael met both my time and cost expectations and delivered a result FAR beyond my expectations. Multiple times, Michael went above and beyond what would be expected of a contractor. He drove to pick up tiles in Franklin Park, purchased paint for me, and made numerous Home Depot trips for hardware and other items. This was my first time doing a renovation, and Michael was patient and flexible. I texted him about things daily, and he responded promptly every time. He saved every single receipt for me to review at the end and even pointed out that he over-charged me by $600 on my final quote and remedied the error (which I would not have noticed on my own). The team is incredibly honest and genuine and delivered an absolutely beautiful final product. I ordered quartz for both the bathroom and kitchen through Michael, and he had a ton of samples for me to choose from and coordinated the entire process. He took on a challenging list of jobs for us ranging from plumbing, framing, painting, tiling, moving and installing laundry appliances and coordinating electrical work, all in various different areas of our house.
