June 4, 2026 RE: Complaint Regarding Treatment at Aspen…read moreDental - Hampton, Virginia 1070 W Mercury Bl Hampton Va 23666 I am submitting this complaint regarding my experience with Aspen Dental in Hampton, Virginia, on June 4, 2026. At approximately 8:45 a.m., I received multiple back-to-back telephone calls from an employee identified as Jennifer. I returned the call within approximately ten minutes after listening to her voicemail. During the return call, I politely asked that, going forward, I not be called repeatedly in rapid succession because I am a disabled veteran with a severe service-connected anxiety disorder. I specifically stated that my request was related to my disability and my need to maintain reasonable personal boundaries. Jennifer initially apologized. However, after I made this request, she informed me that my appointment had been cancelled. I arrived at the office shortly thereafter to discuss the matter in person. Jennifer's demeanor remained dismissive and unprofessional. I then spoke with an individual identified as Tammy, who stated she was the office manager. I attempted to explain that my concern was not the request for insurance information itself, but rather the repeated back-to-back calls and the cancellation of my appointment after I disclosed my disability and requested that my boundaries be respected. I felt that my concerns were not taken seriously. Rather than addressing my complaint, I was told that Jennifer had done nothing wrong and that I had been rude to the employee. At no time did I raise my voice, threaten anyone, or refuse to provide information. I simply requested that future communications take my disability into consideration. My appointment was scheduled to address an urgent dental concern. Being told that my appointment was cancelled immediately after disclosing my disability and requesting a reasonable accommodation caused me significant emotional distress. Following the incident, I contacted Aspen Dental Corporate and spoke with Brian L., who documented my complaint. He expressed concern regarding the circumstances and acknowledged that the repeated calls and handling of the situation were problematic. As a 100% disabled veteran with a documented anxiety disorder, I believe my disability-related concerns were disregarded and that I was treated differently after disclosing my disability. Whether intentional or not, the result was that I lost access to a scheduled dental appointment after requesting consideration for a disability-related need. I respectfully request that Aspen Dental conduct a review of this incident, including the recorded telephone call, determine whether company policies were followed, and provide a written response regarding the findings. I also request clarification regarding Aspen Dental's policies concerning disability accommodations and the cancellation of patient appointments under these circumstances. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I have an in person great experience working…read morewith them and I stand behind what they are trying to do to. make an impact but dealing with them after being a customer has not been a great experice. I am not sure where the disconnect is but 1- they do not communicate well if you are a former customers. 2- they charge you for service upfront and you pay out of pocket for the service before they file with the insurance. That is my issue that state they have sent it over. I have checked my insruance account and the info is not there. I emailed last week asking for my documents electronically by the end of day and got nothing. I then called and left a message the following day. Asking they send it over. They haven't. I spent 4500 on 1 tooth to be repaired. Now I am in lost between the paper trail of where I get my reimbursement. I have tried not to place blame on them but this is ridiculous. I will not recommend their service as a former patient. Current patient teated extremely well, as a former who wanted to use them again. I will not and I will not recommend them. If you are looking for a bio-dental be prepared to pay up front and possible have insurance issues if you deal with them and be out of money. This has been on going since 28 Aug and it's now Dec 7.

If you are looking for an attentive, precise and trustworthy holistic dentist look no further. Have you struggled to find help with your child who has seemingly unexplainable or confusing dental patterns?! Everything can be addressed and improved here! Dr. Samaha has a clear drive and passion for this scientific art, and I am forever thankful she has chosen to use her God-given gifts to help others to the absolute best of her ability. She has an extensive knowledge base, not just of dental arts but also all things health and wellness, including facial and oral development and growth patterns especially related to airway and mouth breathing. We found this office after lots of searching, many other dentists, not all bad, but we knew that the products and services offered at Port Warwick were each carefully selected using the most up to date research and patient individuality in mind. It is no secret that children are presenting with more and more dental concerns at younger ages. Our son was an especially challenging case, and our family has been treated with grace under some very difficult circumstances. We finally received the airway and mouth breathing help we needed! We finally received the nutritional partnership we needed! We finally found a dentist that doesn't use dangerous products to get the job done! We finally found a dentist office that can understand our holistic lifestyle and not only that- THIS OFFICE WILL ENHANCE YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND HELP YOU GROW! Dr. Samaha and her team demonstrated supernatural powers as they did what most dentists could not do with a child presenting a unique combination of decay and defiance. Over a very lengthy appointment, their endurance and commitment to doing what needs to be done the right way allowed me to fully trust in God and His provision of their talents and gifts, and let go of all control that many of us parents want to have in these unpleasant situations for our children. Dr. Samaha is a dental professional you can trust in to provide gentle and loving care to her patients. She explains things to children (and their parents) in a way they can understand and is amazing at making connections with them. She is readily available and will always give you her honest opinion with the data to support it. If you want to have a beautiful smile that is a result of a healthy body, this office can help you to set and achieve goals for total wellness. Our mouth is very much a reflection of our mind-body's state and most dentists entirely ignore that. We have actually had many very impactful homeschooling lessons on nutrition as a result of our discussions with the staff here!! I give this office ONE HUNDRED STARS!!

We chose this office specifically because it was recommended by the Autism Society of Tidewater…read moreVirginia. When a practice carries that kind of recommendation, families like mine come in expecting intentional, proactive accommodations for children on the spectrum -- not just general kindness. While this experience was better than our previous non-pediatric dentist, there are important areas that need improvement if this office is going to continue being recommended for autistic children. For example, once I informed the receptionist that my son is on the spectrum, we should have automatically been placed in the quiet room rather than starting in a large, open space and being moved later. That initial environment matters. Waiting times were also longer than ideal. I understand delays happen, but extended waiting significantly increases anxiety for many children on the spectrum and should be factored into scheduling decisions. During the appointment, the pace felt rushed, and there was limited effort to walk my child through each step before it happened. For many neurodivergent children, preparation and slower transitions aren't optional -- they are essential. Taking an extra few minutes to explain and move gradually could make a significant difference in the overall experience. Additionally, the office itself appears rundown and in need of a deep clean, fresh paint, and attention to the lobby area. A calming, well-maintained environment is part of creating a sensory-considerate space. On a positive note, the staff was friendly, and the dentist answered my questions thoroughly and provided helpful recommendations for supporting my child's dental care at home. My hope in sharing this is that the practice will consider additional autism-specific training and more intentional systems so families who seek them out for this reason truly receive the level of support they expect and deserve.
