When I first moved to NN, I was referred to this dental practice. After many years, I finally…read moredecided to move on. Dr. Mike is awesome - seriously - great guy, and does very good work. It's just that most of your preventative dental care is handled by the hygienists and the staff here just went downhill over time. The last few times I went in for cleanings they weren't good and the hygienist was odd. I'm assuming this is an ongoing issue as more recently when booking appointments, people were asked if they had a preference of hygienist (which wasn't usual before). The piece that sent me over the edge is that one of the women who works at the front desk (who always seems annoyed that you're there and is incredibly rude in her speaking tone) scheduled a cleaning appointment for me and gave me an appointment card. I put the date and time immediately into my Google calendar because, let's be real, I live and die by Google calendar. Then out of the blue, a week before my appointment, I get a call that I missed the appointment. I explained that I'd been told it was the following week. The woman argued with me and said it would be a $60 cancelation fee before I could reschedule. Because I'm known to lose my cool at bad customer service, I had my much calmer and much more successful at negotiating customer service issues husband follow up. After a couple calls back and forth, even his gentle soul was done with the rude behavior. We pay far too much for insurance to receive bad customer service - I'm the first to critique it at a restaurant, why it's taken me so long to stop putting up with bad health care service is a mystery to me. So that put us on the hunt for another dentist who actually had a decent staff - there's gotta be a good one around Bad News somewhere, right?

My previous dentist would say EVERYTHING was a cavity (which I know is subjective) but Dr. M helped me understand some dentists are just looking for business. I switched to him because I didn't enjoy the dental group approach and preferred a consistent team to make me feel more like a patient then a client. It was a great move because each visit here felt like a spa day. After numerous A+ cleaning and inspections (humble brag ) I finally had to get my first filling with him. His work was quickly scheduled (few weeks out) and performed! The care here is always welcoming and efficient. Don't judge a book by the cover (waiting room is a bit dated but clean) you will be handled with great care.

I found a dentist who could see me the same day and X-ray's were done. I have an abcessed tooth full of infection and my gum had to be drained. The dentist prescribed antibiotics and has referred me to an endodontist because it's a molar that has had a previous root canal. When I called today to cancel my cleaning in March and gave the reason why I would not be rescheduling the appointment the girl on the phone got an attitude with me and blamed the week long appointment time on my husband because he said I was having upper gum pain with no mention of tooth abscess. How in the world was I to know that I had an infection in that tooth/gum????? That's why you need to see the dentist in order to have X-rays done and an examination. The dentist that worked me into their busy schedule said that if it had gone too long there would have been swelling in my face. I was very calm when calling ...it was the girl in the office that was talking over me and placing blame on my husband when calling yesterday asking for an appointment . Unsatisfactory response. Nothing against the Dr.'s that run the practice but the girl answering the phones needs some coaching!

This was important bc I work many hours, late into evenings, during the week M-F and could not make it to the dentist. I was very excited they were open on Saturdays. That stopped several years ago. 2026 and 2025 it has slacked off . First of all, I felt like I was pressured to get root canals and crowns which were not necessary. it's my choice if I want it or not. they're very expensive I'm on a very fixed income. I prefer to have my tooth pulled but I got a lot of flack from the older dentist Perez. he was not happy I refused. I could tell by the way his mannerism was. Second time after all this as he worked on my teeth on 2fillings he was very rough... When he gave me a shot of numbing Novocaine, he left the room and immediately came back and didn't give it time to work. When he was drilling it was hurting and I told him it was not numb and it hurt, he said, "oh, I did not do that". I was floored and he was acting annoyed. He was rushing rushing around going back and forth from one person to the other in different chairs. he had 3 people lined up and he kept stopping what he was doing with me, and going to other people during the process of a filling on me. Time he worked on me took longer than ever,1hr. I have never had it take so long! today when I tried to get an appointment...I have not been there in over a year. I moved to a different job, but still kept the same insurance, I was told that I cannot get an appointment until September. it is February right now. that is a heck of a long gap of waiting. receptionist told me they are only working with one dental hygienist right now. She didn't say.. "we can contact you if we have an opening or somebody cancels or if things change". So I just politely told her well I will call back and check to see if things change in about a month or so. Somehow I get the feeling they're going out of business real soon. the positive flip side... older Perez's son is nice he pulled one of my teeth and he did a great job. And the wife, who works as a receptionist, is always been overly nice and accommodating. I'm not going to continue with these people because it's under available...less days they are operating. it seemed to me the older dentist Perez is tired. He was kind of huffing and puffing when he worked on me and I wondered what is going on is this man.... ill? And the receptionist that they have that covers when the wife is not there just does not cut it. She's not helpful at all. Yes I'm going to look somewhere else for new dentist.

Everyone is very professional. Elizabeth is at the front desk and has the best energy! Judy runs the office and is awesome at her job. Both Dr Perez's are phenomenal. And Tameal is my dental hygienist and she has the best steady hands for my cleanings. I'm never sore after and my teeth always sparkle. When ILiana is the Newport News location she is always a sweet welcoming energy. Honestly everyone is amazing. All of my family go to them. I can't say enough about how much I like the office. And it is always impeccably clean and smells good with nice candles.

I learned so much as a parent and he provided examples that he does with his own kids so it's totally relatable. The office: so much fun for kids. A tv, tablets, books, toys, and a video machine. My little one loved watching super mario before we went back. The dental assistant: she was so nice and talked directly to my 2 year old! He felt important and it was so adorable. The dental room: wow the first I've ever seen like this! I loved it! It didn't feel so medical and scary, for the kiddos. There was a bean bag chair, toys, and a comfy chair for the parent. Teeth cleaning: they explained what would happen during the visit and made my little one feel comfy. He still cried but a lot less! Leaving: we got a goodie bag and my child was able to pick one toy! He loved that and it was so much fun!
