I went back to Michael Fine Art and spotted a wall hanging that I have been looking at for some time. Joseph Ritz offered me a very fair and doable price for the piece and I purchased it. Joseph told me that the price included delivery and installation ion since the piece was so large and heavy. The piece was delivered yesterday on time as it was scheduled. The Delivery Team was very professional and clearly knew what they were doing. the piece was perfectly installed and I am very happy with how it brightens up my room! Professionally I am a retired Police Officer and now work as a Private Investigator. Michael Fine Art Gallery in my professional opinion is an outstanding find and I will continue to do business with them after I buy a larger house with more wall space! read more

After lunch we saw this gallery just by the entrance to Chinatown. I think they have one in Vegas to. There are so many unique things here. I liked the Richie Rich stuff. As we walked around we noticed that there were no attendants in the place. They also have another section of the gallery across the street with totally different art. It was a little weird but there were some cameras. Just an inconvenience if we had questions. The color of all the art seemed just a little off. Not blemished but the colors seemed different in Vegas. Oh well lots of stuff to look at. read more

Earlier this year my family and I visited your shop, and to my dismay, I left owning the most magnificent chandelier on the planet. Indeed this was due to my bright eyes of excitement and your unparalleled generosity. I finally got the chandelier installed in my dining room and it has fast become a conversation piece. I love sharing the story of how it ended up in my possession and not in some hotel or baseball player's mansion. Almost everyone is intrigued and promises to visit your place when in San Francisco. read more

I was visiting San Francisco and fell in love with a piece they had. I was skeptical about buying it and having them ship it to my home in Minnesota, but Joseph was amazing! The piece arrived safely and it is absolutely stunning. It's so unique and I cannot recommend the Michael Fine Art Gallery enough. We had a great experience with them and Joseph really took care of us. Thank you Joseph! read more

Stumbled upon this beautiful store while exploring Chinatown. It had a variety of fine art pieces, including chandeliers, sculptures and crystals. Most of the pieces were several thousands of dollars, but this is a great place to walk around and admire nevertheless. The staff were also very friendly! I hope to come back someday and purchase a piece for my apartment :) read more

My friend and I walked into Michael Fine Art And Antiques because we were waiting for another store to open. We met Aldo (who I think I'm in love with and want to marry!) and his uncle David! Both treated us like royalty and spent time with us going through articles for which we showed interest. Then, David showed us his private collection. To make a long story short, I bought a beautiful modern chandelier and mirror and my friend bought a beautiful painting and my pieces are now a topic of conversation! Absolutely loving them and very glad to have visited Michael Fine Art! 55 years of collection! I wish I had more money to spend! read more

I visited this store while in SF. Super impressive place with some amazing items. A guy called Aldo (I think?!), helped me pick out some unique pieces, and he was clearly very knowledgeable. I bought some large items, so had to have them shipped. Everything arrived intact, and was wrapped and packed professionally. The guys in there were great - it was a fun purchase! Will definitely stop there again when next in town read more

There are several art galleries and antique shops located on this stretch of China town and if luck is on your side you will find what you are looking for at one of Michael and family's locations. Over the course of a long weekend we were able to turn a shopping adventure into a pleasant shopping experience: I found myself gravitating to several pieces at Michael's location. Between 2.5 floors I kept going back and forth (don't worry, they have an elevator) trying to see which big piece I liked better. The staff was very friendly, accommodating and most importantly- patient. They couldn't have made the shopping experience easier. More importantly, after everything was settled & signed for and out of town shipping directions were agreed upon with a 1 to 2 week delivery window- they had it delivered just 3 days later. These guys are a pleasure to do business with. Thank you very much! read more

I visited this store in June '24. They have amazing inventory. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. I'm very happy with the purchase.

I was in San Francisco on a holiday I went to Michael fine art gallery on Grant Street to look for a lighting fixture I need it for a new home I just purchased. I was amazed at the extreme selection chandeliers and exotic lights they were on display. I told the proprietor, Joseph what I was looking for and he showed me around the gallery suggesting fixtures that might work. I showed him a picture of the place I was going to hang it and he showed me what might look best. I took photos of all the fixtures I really liked, and thanked Joseph for his fine service. I returned home and showed the photos to the designer who had done the interior of the house. She like the one I selected. I sent Joseph a photo of the fixture I liked and he sold it to me at a very fair price! He had the fixture delivered to me within 10 days and it included e everything needed for installation. I would give Joseph and the Michael Art Gallery 10 stars if I could ! Outstanding (1) Selection, (2) Quality, (3) Service and (4) Pricing. Be sure to shop there if you want fine art an beautiful lights! read more

If you are feeling a little stale from the lockdowns and general apprehensiveness of the COVID days, this place will start you on a new journey. Last week I went in, and for a reasonable amount, purchased a rug, lighting fixture and carving. They delivered and installed quickly and neatly. Some furnishings needed some shuffling around. Now there's a new feel that's so much classier, so refreshed , and just beautiful. Let go of just a few bucks and get a tenfold improvement. Professional, affable, a doorway to a big improvement. Go in. It's so worth it. Be open to an upgraded look. read more

Only stop in if ur willing to drop 10k for shipping. Very interesting items, just not sure if their pieces are authentic.

Michael Fine Art and Antique has shops on both sides of Grant and right inside the Dragon Gate leading into Chinatown. What first got my Son's attention recently was the art outside the shops. The most popular to sit and take a photo is the "Monkey Bench" on one side of the street. And if you look on the other, there are a few cool metal sculptures to admire and caress. Inside both places are big ornate objects, most of which would break my budget and then would have to be shipped home. I particularly enjoyed the selection of murano glass. read more

Came here with my mother to look for some art for her home. She was visiting from the east coast and was so excited to come and see China town and the beautiful stores. The women who was working there was very rude from the start. She did not acknowledge either of us when we walked in. When my mother asked if she had a specific artist. She laughed at her, and said my mother didn't know what she was talking about. On the way to leave she and another employee were standing by the front door. She told my mother and I to " walk around". I was shocked by the amount of disrespect this women had toward us. DO NOT recommend coming here. Take your business somewhere else. read more

We were in San Francisco for the weekend from San Diego and was visiting SF's Chinatown and stumbled upon Michaels fine Art. We saw a chandelier and fu lions / foo dogs that caught our eyes. Tony's uncle was nice enough to give us a tour around his huge gallery, There was so much to see in his gallery that we ran out of time because we had lunch reservation so we couldn't finish the tour. The following day we came back before our flight and was able to make a deal on the chandelier and tony sold us on the bigger pair of foo dogs for a great price. Allow me to RE-POST this review which was removed by complaint of the owner for "not having enough detail about my experiences as a customer". My ill girlfriend and I don't get many opportunities to leave the house (we live in Sunnyvale) together for exploring the city so this weekday which I took off work was a nice quiet day in Chinatown to wander around. Curious about the home decor we saw through the window of Michael Fine Arts we stepped into the shop, hands in pockets and began to browse. With a variety of items like this you never know if you are looking for something specific, or waiting for something to strike you on the spot and make a purchase. At no time did either of us move or touch anything in the store. Also, there were ZERO other customers that I could see in the store that day. One of the salesmen (an older midddle eastern gentleman) working greeted us and gave some commentary about the item we were looking at right as we stepped into the store. I said thank you and engaged in a brief conversation about it before wandering to look at another item. He followed us there and gave commentary on that item too. I don't recall if I responded. We again moved to another area of the store and by the time my feet stopped moving to look at something else there he was again, right behind me telling me something I didn't want to know about some piece he thought I was interested in. My girlfriend, annoyed, then asked him to give us some space. Because of his culture and age, I saw the look on his face, and I repeated the request more politely and said something like "I appreciate the info but we would like to just browse for a little while together." At this moment he didn't hesitate and replied with 'You should go to the park and browse.' The clear meaning being, 'if you don't have your wallet out you shouldnt be in my store.' I immediately called over to my girlfriend and said we weren't welcome and we needed to leave. So we did. I posted a short version of this and the owner reached out to me with apparent dismay, as if he doesn't know what his salesmen's attitudes are. Then my post was removed. This is my experience as a customer. Unwelcome. read more

I'm adding on to my positive review. We purchased another chandelier for our home and are so pleased. As always my experience at the store was great. At the time I went, they were advertising discounts, and had tables displaying trinkets for $10. Yet were disinterested, bordering on rude and surly, to people casually dressed and "obviously" not looking for the pricey pieces packed in their stores. Uh, maybe these people might still want to buy something? Like one of the trinkets you're having so much trouble selling at $10? read more

Wow! I was staying in Union Square at a hotel right down on Bush street; and right on the corner I find a gallery that caught my eye. I went inside and found myself in a fairy tale! This place has the most incredible, unique furniture and art....it was just so different from what I've experienced in other galleries. Most of the pieces are from Italy, France and China. The staff is well informed and help you find items within your price range. Most importantly, they can tell you about each piece in detail, it's origin, meaning and importance. Very good experience. While i was on vacation for the first time in San Francisco my husband and i decided to head to China Town. While we waited for the stores to open we sat across the street and had a mimosa. As i sipped on my mimosa i spotted this beautiful chandelier through the window of Michaels Fine Arts and Antique store. I have been searching for a unique chandelier for my foyer for 13 years. I have never feel in love with anything until i saw this one in Michaels fine art. We walked in and we were greeted by Michael and Tony. I fell in love with the chandelier and had to purchase it and not only the chandelier but sconces for my foyer as well. Tony was very kind and very helpful throughout the sale. He made us feel like family. I was concerned about shipping the chandelier but Tony reassured me everything will be packed and arrive perfect . He wasn't kidding. The chandelier came in and everything was perfect. Tony was a man of his word. Every person who walks in my house compliments the chandelier and how they have never seen anything like it. If you want something unique and have impeccable customer service i highly recommend Michaels Fine arts and antiques. I'm definitely a customer for life. Can't wait for my next purchase. I want everything in the store . :) read more

I was visiting a relative, and walked into Michael purely for window shopping. It is like walking into a museum with a large collection of shiny items ranging from amethyst cathedrals to chandeliers. The items are really big and probably for houses and mansions. As I live in a small apartment, I did not think there would be anything for me. Tony's uncle showed me around the gallery, and I found two ornaments that I liked and could be potential buys. I did not think I could afford the pieces, but settled on a price (near to the intrinsic value). I would say I am satisfied customer, and would visit Michael's again if in town. I read some of the negative posts, and think that the following should be noted: Michael is not a non-profit organization, people pay what something is worth to them (eg. I don't like rugs so would not purchase even if priced at $10) - this maybe based on emotion or rationale, and you are never forced to hand over your credit card. read more

Big edit from me - Kudos to the gang at Michaels for making a bad situation right. We had to go through a few hoops to get the desired outcome, but in the end we really appreciate them working with us. I will still advise that people make sure that if you are buying the type of art and displays Michaels has, you should do your homework and research to ensure you know what you are getting and what the value later on might be. read more

Baroque home decor arty boutique just inside the Chinatown gate. Parking is street only, which means there is no parking. There are a couple of parking garages not too far away, and they do deliver so that's handy. This is a fairly large store with overstuffed displays. There are also a couple of different facets to the business with both a focus on high dollar home furnishings, and a limited number of small artsy tourist portables. The showroom has a number of nice items including but not limited to chandeliers, statuary, heavy massive beds, tables, carpets, various gilt laden objects and items of L'art de la decoration. These tend to be expensive (1,500 or so on the low side, in excess of 10,000 on the high side. Not inclusive of delivery fee's.) heavy and meant for large spaces. So if you have a dining room that seats 20, an extremely large entry way/drive way, ballroom or other large space this is a great place to pick up decor. Some of the items are gaudy beyond measure, others quite tasteful-but bear in mind those are both relative concepts. I'm fairly certain you can find something to like given the wide variety especially as regards the chandelier selection. It's also worth mentioning (again) that they will ship nationwide if you find something you really, absolutely cannot live without, and are willing to pay. On the off chance that you aren't in the market for an 800 pound art replica, there is a selection of smaller glass pieces laid out by the door to lure you in. These can be quite small-like the size of a cup or plate-are quite colorful and come in a wide variety of shapes and styles. For the casual san francisco tourist these are fanciful/whimsical, are easily transportable (assuming that moderate care is taken when packing them) and priced at ten to forty dollars thus are much more affordable. If nothing else take some selfies with the sidewalk display for bragging and continue on your Chinatown adventure. read more

I've been in this place a few times. The layout of the store is beautiful, but the prices are outrageous! No, seriously. Outrageous! They ask where you're from, ALWAYS say a neighborhood in San Francisco, because they intentionally screw the tourists even MORE than they screw the residents! If you try to haggle, they MAY (or may not) come down around 5%. They own 3 stores total, all right next to each other. One is also called "Michaels" a couple doors down, and another one across the street on the corner. Best part yet? They ALL act the same. In fact, there are of course, other art galleries in that neighborhood, and they don't have an issue telling you how bad Michael's is & how much they mark up their prices/treat their customers. In fact, a store around the corner was the one who told me the "Where are you from?" trick! Save yourself the time, keep your wallet in your front pocket, and at most- browse. Then go to the other shops in the neighborhood & see if you can find the same or similar thing for less. read more
