Good luck when you have to call Michael and Son to schedule a correction. Terrible customer service. Incompetent reps. Only use this company if you have all the time in the world to go back and forth and accomplish nothing. I've been using Michael & Sons for many years and I never had problems until now. I had a new HVAC installed back in July and was required to have county inspection done. I scheduled the inspection and failed because it "needs secondary form of condensation disposal". I called Michael and Son to schedule a technician to rectify the problem and he came and installed the overflow switch off indicator. I called county inspector for the 2nd time to reinspect, and again, the HVAC failed to pass due to the SAME issue. I called Michael and Son to schedule another technician to address the same problem and after 4 phone line transfers, 35 minutes later, and many confused reps on the phone, I was told someone from Michael and Son would call me back 1-2 business days. One and half week later, no calls and no emails. I called back to schedule a time again, and of course, many phone transfers later and many confused reps on the phone, I was able to tell them the issue and schedule a technician. Technician came, looked at the the HVAC and had no clue what to do. No work was done. He took pictures and made a few texts and I was told a installation manager from Michael and Son would call to schedule another technician to come out. Four days later and no response. I reluctantly made another call to Michael and Son and still, the people on the phone were absolutely clueless. I told them the same issue that it "needs secondary form of condensation disposal" and I would like to schedule a technician, so the rep said she'll transfer me to the department. I GOT TRANSFERRED TO SCHEDULE AN INSPECTION. WHY?! I am not calling to schedule another inspection when I failed both inspections due to the same issue the Michael and Son FAIL to address. I was getting heated and told the rep I dont need an inspection until the problem is fixed. She then transferred me to the MANAGER who answered the phone, "hello"as if he was half asleep and still groggy. He was barely coherent and was very unhelpful. After trying to piece together what he was trying to say, he said he would get back to me after he viewed all the documents. I was reluctant to get off the phone as it took so much energy to even get this far, but still, he was adamant that he would get back to me "whenever hes done". This did not sound promising at all. My first failed inspection was on August 23 and I'm still dealing with the same issue on October 16. I would not recommend Michael and Son if you value your time and sanity. read more

I called about leaky tub at 4pm on July 3rd, and they set me up with an appointment on the 5th, which I thought was pretty quick turnaround given the holiday. The plumber, John, immediately diagnosed a leaky overflow drain and was able to quickly fix it up. We could not replicate the leak and thought the problem was fixed, but it turns out there was a SECOND leak which wasn't obvious until the bathtub was full. When I realized that night that the tub was still leaking when filled up, I called again- I told them it was non-emergency so they told me someone would be out the next day (today). Dave was at my house by 10 am- he was extremely polite and friendly even though I took a while to meet him. He determined that the overflow drain was no longer leaking, and that the new culprit was one of the upper jets in my whirlpool tub. Unfortunately he said I'd have to go to a specialist to get the jet looked at/repaired, but I understand it's pretty common for plumbers to not handle those type of repairs. I am very satisfied with the service from this company, and the quick response when I reported that the initial visit didn't fix the problem. read more

Don't ever use this company......they charged me 630 dollars for a outdoor faucet which was leaking and for a 20 minute job the plumber was done......I gave them a bad review on their Google website and the owner told me sorry for my experience and to contact their manager and he threatened me with contacting their legal department for me giving them a bad review I guess.......what a joke this company is read more

Extremely unprofessional. Repeatedly missed our appointments with no follow ups from the company explaining why they didn't show and to reschedule. We finally got to the root of the problem - they prioritize insurance claims over everything else as it is a guaranteed, larger payment. Sleazy, rude and unprofessional. Don't waste your time and energy. Would recommend a different company for restoration services (EcoPro). read more

We had hvac spring check up as part of our warranty contract. We usually had decent previous experience but this time the service tech seemed to be only interested in upselling us on coil cleaning and the service contracts. When I said I was not really interested in those he rushed thru the job and didn't even remove the indoor panels on both units. Only checked the temperature. Getting tired of having this company come to our house for check ups. is complete waste of time and money. Be different if they actually did the 21 point check they say the supposed to do. read more

If there was a way to do 0 stars I would do it. I have never written a bad review for a company but here it is. Last year I signed a "gold" service contract agreement During this time I have used the company for a number of services -installing several smoke detectors, duct and dryer vent cleaning. I have been pleased with those services. However my recent experience has been such a disappointment and disaster On April 24, I was scheduled for my spring/summer inspection. At that time I paid a deposit for a UV Treatment Germicidal Unit to be installed on May 20 between 10-2 On that day around 12;30 I was called to say the technician was not going to make it during those hours. And they were not sure when he would be here. I needed to get to work so I canceled the Installation and requested a refund I called 3 times since then to inquire about the status of the refund and was told it was 7-10 business from the request. Finally on June 14 (18 business days), I called my credit card company to dispute the charge. My "gold" service contract expires in October so I emailed to get a refund for those remaining months. I had no faith or confidence in this company that would not refund my $400+. And I was denied a refund. Unbelievable read more

On June 9th I called Michael & Sons and scheduled an appointment to have my hot and cold faucet handles replaced. I explained to the customer service rep that I would like to replace the faucet handles in my standalone shower and tub. On June 10th a plumber from Michael & Sons arrived at my home, out of breath and smelling awful. The plumber took no more than four minutes to look in both my bathrooms and tell me he has to cut large holes in both of my walls and that it would be my responsibility to get my walls repaired after the job is finished. I ask why he would have to destroy my walls to replace the faucet handles, he responded that it was standard for Michael & Sons and that is how the job would be done. I was so upset, after all I called to get faucet handles replaced not to pick up another issue of finding someone to then repair my walls. My problem was if this is truly was a company standard then why wasn't I told that when I made the appointment? As a consumer, if this was a Michael & Sons standard, then my right to make an informed decision was taken away from me by that information not being disclosed while I was setting up the appointment. I paid your plumber $69 for exactly four minutes of his time. This was not right and shame on you Michael & Sons for taking advantage of people during this pandemic. I called the office while the plumber was still at my home and got the run around and a promise of a return call from the plumber manager, of course that call never happened. My advice to future customers is to shop around and try to find a company that is more consumer friendly during this pandemic. Unlike that average person working or who has lost their job during this pandemic, Michael & Sons has not lost anything, if anything, with everyone being home for months, business has boomed for this company, there should be no need to take advantage of consumers. I believe right now everyone has to be on the lookout for price gouging and shady business practices. Shame on you Michael & Sons. read more

* * Description of Complaint: Michael and Son services came to my home approximately 2 years ago to fix a dripping faucet on the tub upper level bathroom tub. I had recently bought my home. A Service Technician came to my home for the repair and suggested that I get the bathroom remodeled saying it was outdated. I was approved for a Michael and Son credit card. As a new homeowner I was very excited. I have 2 bathrooms, upper and lower. I bought a jet tub, shower head, sink with a vanity and a toilet for the upper level bathroom and was told that I should get the lower level bathroom done too (shower installation, sink, vanity and toilet, since I had the money on the M&S card. One of the technicians that was doing the installations had serious issues as in RUDE. DISRESPECTED AND ARGUED WITH RELATIVE WHILE TRACKING SAWDUST AND CAULKING THROUGHOUT MY HOME.(there are many other things that went/are Wrong. Upper Level-a hole was drilled in my vanity (ruined it) without asking, to place a toilet paper holder, shower head is so high that you have to stand on your toes to reach, caulking around tub is peeling off,and WHEN I USE THE TUB TO SHOWER OR BATHE OR CLEAN THE TUB,WATER THAT SUPPOSE TO GO IN THE OVERFLOW DRAIN in the tub GOES IN THE WALL AND DRIPS DOWN A VENT IN FAMILY ROOM DOWNSTAIRS WHICH HAS CAUSED A PUNGENT MILDEW ODOR THAT REEKS FROM DOWNSTAIRS TO UPSTAIRS. The ceiling has cracked. Rust and water stains are visible.I HAVE VIDEOS AND WITNESSES FOR VERIFICATION. Moving forward this is JUST TO MUCH. I AM TOTALLY BURNT OUT. It is an effort to write this complaint. M&S sent 2 Techs sense 1/19. Both stated were going to make a report to the manager because they didn't know how to fix this problem. I make monthly payments on time.I have not mentioned anyone's name because this doesn't feel good. BUT I NEED HELP NOW! I've realized the importance of reading reviews before getting major jobs done. I do not need phone calls playing tag from M&S. I need CORRECTIONS DONE NOW. 1. * Desired Settlement: Billing Adjustment 2. Desired Outcome Description: Although I selected a billing adjustment which would be FAIR, the corrections MUST be made. I have strong concerns of mold growing in the downstairs ceiling from the upper level bathroom tub. I am reaching out to the Better Business Bureau in hopes of getting these wrongs made right. I sent an e-mail to M&S stating that I would like for the owner of M&S to contact me immediately. I make my monthly payments on time. I feel that I have paid for this job in full. Bathing is a necessity. Thank you. read more

I have been especially pleased with the service and advice I have received from my HVAC technician, Samuel. He is honest and reliable and his performance has been excellent and efficient. I am equally impressed that his assistant on this last trip was a young man out of the corrections program who is learning the trade and getting his life in order. What a wonderful contribution Michael and Sons is making to our community by giving this young man a second chance. And that you, Samuel, for being such a wonderful teacher and inspiration. read more

The administration here in Baltimore City sucks! It took them more than a month to return about $1500 because they double charged me. This was after the technician spent 30 mins on the phone (the estimate fee of $69 need to be deducted from the final cost of service) and I visited the company to make sure I wouldn't be double charge the same day. They didn't even apologize instead the administration made excuses for the incompetence. This company is not worth the hassle! read more

I called for electrical work, wiring up a hot tub for 240V AC. I told them EXACTLY what I wanted over the phone. The guy came out on a friday, didn't bring any parts, and said he'd have to come back on Monday, and it would cost over $1,900 plus $250 for the building permit. I cancelled the job on Saturday and just did it myself for $200 in parts. It turned out they billed me anyway for the job. I had to call several times over the next 2 months because although they said the charge was reversed, it wasn't, on top of which they still charged me for the visit where they did the estimate (when they brought no parts). I wanted it to work out, and the tech was friendly, but the service end of it sucked. I'll go somewhere else next time for home improvement stuff, or just do it myself. read more

I have had the worst experience with your Michael and Son today. I called in a request and was given a time frame of 10-2. I had to call them back at 1:30 as I did not get a call from a Technician. I was told that I was next and the technician would call me to let me know when he was on his way. I called again at 6:18 pm and was told that the technician was still in Potomac Md. I am human and I realize that schedules may need to be pushed back or altered however, It is totally unacceptable that no one from your company called, texted or emailed me to let me know that the technician would be late or not come at all. To make sure that I would be able to be home and the technician would have peace I took my son to the babysitters house. I now have to pay the babysitter overtime because your company has poor business practice of setting times and not honoring them. You all have lost me as a customer. With your future customers I pray that you train your technicians better. Part of customer service is communication. Today You All FAILED. read more

I would give 0 stars if it were an option. Horrible scheduling process. We waited all day for an appointment that they told us would be first. We needed to talk to an expert on A/C who would listen to our needs and come back with some options. Michael and Sons sent over SAMUEL GOMES, Sr. Tech and he was amazing. He came to our house, put shoe protectors on, listened to everything we wanted/needed and then measured up our space, all the while asking smart questions to clarify our needs. This guy was amazing. Great customer service and solid people skills. He started doing research almost immediately, calling other experts back at the office and manufacturer's. Within 2 hours he called us back gave us a range of reasonable options so that we could decide what was best for us. A very consultative approach. We really enjoyed having a high caliber person to work with! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would... We had michael and sons come to check an issue with our blinking lights. The man said it would be at most 400 dollars if he had to change a bunch of things. He worked for about 1.5 hours and found no issue and said he tightened some connections. He went to charge me and it was 402 dollars, I argued saying how is that possible seeing as he worked for 1.5hrs and didn't really do anything. He said well ll it turns into a level 2 job since he crawled in the attic? WHAT? you have got to be kidding me. I then asked for an itemized receipt to prove what he was charging me for. He would not give me that and played on his computer thing for 20 more minutes just to tell me some dumb explanation. Sooo incredibly dissapoint ed and annoyed with this company, never again will I call them for service! Oh and btw, lights are blinking still so he didn't even fix a thing. read more

Don't use this company if you have a "old home" we had them come out to give a estimate on a fixer upper they requested us to fix a few items then after we fixed and all work was completed we called back and were told they won't help us house is to old. Call customer service back left a message no response. They Answered My review but what they sated is not true. As for there response we fixed all areas they wanted fixed and called to reschedule and they would not come back out. Some help they are. I was extremely pleased with BJ Leak and Josh Togovsky. BJ came out Friday night to troubleshoot my wi-go thermostat. He walked into my home while I was dealing with a daughter with a flat tire. He waited patiently and after I told him my dilemma, he was friendly and kind and gave me some ideas to help my daughter out. He proceeded to find that my wi-fi thermostat was defective. He made the suggestion I go with his company's wi-fi thermostat and quickly installed it. I also got the $69 service done. BJ was professional, explained everything to me so I could understand it, and was neat. I love how Michael & Sons lay a carpet at your front door to wipe their feet. Nice touch! So BJ upsold me the service contract for my HVAC and the first service was done today by Josh. Again he was very professional, explained what he was here to do, made recommendations and clued me in on what else they do. Both BJ and Josh left me their names and numbers to call if I had any more questions. Very impressed! read more

Overpriced and deceptive! We were told when making the appointment they would not quote an hourly rate (red flag), the plumber would give us a price when he looked at it, and if we chose not to have him do the work there would be no charge. His estimate was $1,050 which we declined, knowing how high that was. He then said there would be $89 service call. When we protested, he just said ok. Hmmm... we contacted First Choice Plumbing who did the work, plus additional work that Michael's did not quote on, for less than $500. read more

Great service as always. We renewed our Eagle agreement again this year. Always professional and courteous when they come to our home.

This company is horrible. Don't use them. There are plenty of reputable plumbers in Baltimore. After a routine check up that I got because I purchased a maintenance plan, the plumber suggested that we replace a piece of pipe under our bathroom sink. We also got a completely over priced toilet too. The whole day cost $850. In the morning after the new pipe was installed, the sink dripped. Then by the evening it ran hot water constantly even after making sure that everything was turned off. I called to have another plumber come out the next day but I had to wait another day because of the snow. I canceled my appointments & left work early because the representative said that my service call was on the "priority list" & there were 3 calls ahead of mine when I called at 1:30. After 3 more calls @ 5pm, 7pm, & 9pm, no one repaired my sink!!!!! read more

Received a call from your company in VA several hours later after explaining the poor service I received. The lady explained that they seemed to be busy that day and Corey could've been overwhelmed, but then followed up with how unacceptable that still was. She asked if I would allow them to send someone else. At first, I wanted nothing to deal with Michael and Sons, but the lady seemed to want to rectify the situation and so I agreed until I was told the next available appt. wouldn't be until mid June. This aapt. would be twice as long than my initial appt., so at that point I politely declined. I thought it would be days not weeks. Although the person I spoke to was polite this time, I felt as though Michael and Sons wasn't making it a priority to rectify their mistake even though I explained the time sensitive nature I needed the estimate. read more

Overall experience was bad. I explained my a/c was not cooling efficiently and a tech. came to diagnose my a/c at the new house. I shadowed him around as he tried to diagnose the system. Guy said, "my ac was overcharged" and I had a pound of extra gas in the system. However, the discrepancy is that in order to know how much extra gas is in the system ,it was to be measured on a scale. One would have to get an empty canister, weight dry weight, add the extra gas and remeasure the canister - this is the only way to weight how much extra fluid was in the system. He did not do that. He hooked up a canister to my A/c and than let it bleed - for a few seconds might I add. Then he let the gas bleed into the atmosphere for a few more seconds and told me that was a pound - which just isn't true. As he did not weigh before and after. I contested and he told me ok, I'll waive the extra $150 fee for fixing the "over charged" a/c. And charged the diagnostic fee. My a/c still behaves the same way and is still not cooling efficiently. My a/c was never overcharged to begin with, now I am sure it is undercharged because he bled some of the gas out. read more

After purchasing a new home at the start of summer, we decided to hire M&S for an inspection of the system. The technician said everything looked fantastic but we were missing a component required by code, and sold us on the additional work. That installation caused a leak which then fried the system and a breaker fuse, leaving us without a/c until they could come back. They sent the same technician who installed it improperly to review his own work and confirmed it was in fact the installation which caused the problems. He replaced the component, rewired the electrical, and left. So far we were now down a breaker fuse with unknown long term damage to what was a perfectly-operating system. I called the company and was told I'd receive a refund within 5-7 days. No refund came and they didn't return my emails or calls. I then CC'd the world and finally got a call back from a rep who said there were no notes in the system but would start the refund process which would take another 5-7 days.
