I like Mic Drop comedy and have been quite a few times. I appreciate the deals they send occasionally to those on their email list, which has definitely enticed us to go more often than we otherwise would have. I also like that they have a pretty expansive food menu for the type of venue that it is and think they do elote very well! Their food and drink prices are a little higher then I think they are worth, but not terrible. I also really like the Alice in Wonderland theme. My biggest complaint is the chairs. Unless you are lucky enough to be seated at a booth, you are seated in a chair on the main floor and they are incredibly uncomfortable. By the end of a 1.5-2 hour show, you will be itching to run out of there to a more comfortable spot. read more

It felt very intimate and the comics were very entertaining! They had a large drink and food menu! Went to see Anthony Rodia and my gosh the entire show was hilarious! Anthony was amazing and time went by so fast. Crying laughing, hell people were coughing from laughing so hard! It was an incredible night. But you may wonder why the three stars. Bottom line up front; for a new venue it's just average, no wow factor. Receipt for drinks and food is the size of and old desk calculator receipt (super small) and delivered in the dark so flashlights come on all over the place. ‍Service is in need of help through additional staffing to meet demand. Bartender....come on it's a comedy club and one person to make fancy concoctions from the menu...not a great move. Watch the receipt, gratuity is added in for groups unless you want to double tip (we did as the waiter did the best he could). New venue and wasn't sold out yet didn't meet demand. They are pretty lucky they didn't sell out. Drinks are tough to order and the bartender was overwhelmed before the place had 25% occupancy. Every person that came after the initial group just made things super bad. Food for 7 people was nearly $500. I get it as it's not a restaurant per se but dang the service was bad. We got there early and were in the first group to seat right next to the stage. Waiter was super nice and did apologize for the delays but said something that caught me off guard, he mentioned they are working on our orders but the bartender and cooks are slammed. I looked around and noticed maybe 50 people in the place and a line still outside. I said to the group that maybe we shouldn't order food if they are already slammed because this will be bad. They wanted to eat so here we go. It was super bad. Food was delivered just as Anthony took the stage. So we went through the opening act, the opener for Anthony and now the main comedian hits the stage, lights go down...it's dark and then the food was delivered. We got someone else's food in part of our order and couldn't see what the heck we were eating. Just a mess. Drinks were super slow and we ended up getting a couple of rounds in the span of close to 3 hours. Pros: they get great comedians and this is a good spot for a comedy club. Lots of seating Amazing decorations and a real play on Alice in Wonderland. I really liked the Cheshire face on the main stage and the cool looking tea cups by the mantle. Food was pretty good but no idea what it looked like. I will be back for the acts again for sure as it's not horrible but I now have different expectations. read more

This review converted from a 1 star to a 5 star because of Cole, the manager. I'm a seasoned comedy consumer with plenty of experience buying tix for comedy shows online. I'm legally disabled so I had gone to the check in area to ask for a seat that could accommodate me. Lo and behold I was told that the tix I bought clicking through the comedian's video were not for his show but for some other random show. I still don't know what happened. The show was sold out and it was looking like we weren't getting in at all, much less an accommodating seat. Cole offered us a free drink to wait at the bar, they seated everyone and then he seated us in great seats near the restroom as requested. The seat was comfortable and I'm so grateful to Cole for stepping in to address the whole problem. The drinks were good and the bartender and our server were also great. The opener and Dustin the headliner were both wonderful. It was a fun night out. Thanks Cole! P.S. We went to this location before the pandemic, and it was ok. It seemed a little rundown. So when we went back last year, I commented on how much it had improved. Guess it was actually a whole different comedy club before, and I didn't even realize, but the person checking us in gave me the heads up. Anyway, the decor and food menu at Mic Drop is Alice in Wonderland-themed, which is cool. And there is no drink minimum, which is even cooler! I've attended a show here and had dinner (the birria tacos were delicious) and have also attended and just had a water. No judgment, no pushing for ordering either way. The food is pricy, but it's also really tasty. Nothing too fancy on the menu, but the dishes I've tried and seen on other tables all seem to be elevated. And the servers must practice maneuvering between those tight spaces because they're excellent at it. A highlight was seeing Fortune Feimster in the smaller room where she was trying out new material! I ended up going solo and got to sit in the front row. They bring great acts, and the openers we've seen have been really good as well. Not gonna names, but one was even better than the main act we paid to see. Plenty of free parking is always a plus, and they seem to be booking bigger and bigger names, so I'm excited for who ends up on the schedule. read more

This was my first time at Mic Drop Comedy! It was for "Updating" which is supposedly a blind date kind of show where contestants either sign up ahead of time and others chosen out of the audience. Overall the show was okay, some of the members of the crowd were wayyyy too drunk but that honestly was the most entertaining thing to watch. I appreciated that there wasn't a minimum for drinks, but I bought a non-alcoholic drink anyway since there was a promise of entry to another show for being DD. Not sure how I can get that redeemed though since they never gave me a coupon or voucher for the next show. Overall fun experience and would be interested in coming back for another show! read more

The club is a cute little venue with a great selection of comedians. They are very fluid in their mix of guest stars. If you get there early enough you can get dinner in at very reasonable prices and selections. They also have a great bar and mixologist. I am definitely going back for more. read more

For Pride month, a friend and I went here for the Pride Bunch comedy show. It was great to support a local business and comedians. The lineup were comedians from different backgrounds and some traveled from LA to do the show. Great time, great performance between the acts, and I laughed a lot. We got free tickets to come back. This our 3rd time here and we always have a good time. Brought 2 friends with us this time. This event was to raise money for The Rescue House - helps cats get loving homes for unwanted, abandoned, homeless and abused cats. Several of the volunteers and foster people are clients of my wife so besides donating money, she wanted to support them here too. So cool this place does this to help raise money for charities! They need to bring back their Reese's martini! It was so dang good and they no longer serve it. Even the waitress said many people tried to order it again, but it's not brought back yet. Service was better this time. The only thing we don't like here is their seating setup. Our friends were across the table from us facing away from the stage. Which was fine until the show started and they had to turn their chairs around the complete opposite direction to watch the show. So they either had to hold their drinks the whole time or keep turning around 180 to take a sip of it and leave it on the table. The show was great and we had a great time. Will be back. Fun environment but we were so cramped in to one little area it was not comfortable. Our service was good up until we got a waiter assigned to us. The women with dreads was so rude and was ignoring her co workers questions she kept walking past with a horrible horrible attitude. Our waiter was an African American women she offered terrible service aswell- our drinks were wrong and she never came back to ask us if we wanted another round or even food? She rudely interrupted my husband and when he proceeded to order his drink and says "I NEED A CARD ON FILE" in an extremely rude manor. Sucks because we had a great night other than our crappy service. We had so much fun here!!! I found an amazing deal on event brite so decided to check it out. Other than standing in line in the rain for 45 min we had a nice experience. I just wish that they let us inside to hangout by the bar or grab a seat instead of making us stand in the rain...it was a bit weird. The comedians were pretty funny for the most part! The drinks were really really sweet but yummy if you are into it. The people at my table said that their food was good too. Overall this is a cool comedy club in the SD area. Jeff was the security guard and takes his job very seriously but he is good at it that's for sure! My boyfriend said that he guards like the president is coming lol he's a cool guy and was nice. I did not enjoy my time here. They cram you inside the space to a point where the servers cannot even walk around and deliver your food and drinks. We sat in the far right wall. I had to move side to side to get a view of the comedians. Worst of all is watching Margaret Cho. Her jokes were mostly about politics and how we're in worst shape as a country and Kamala should've won. Haha.. that was funniest thing she said that night. Kamala as a president.. she couldn't even handle being VP!!! She also joked about Charlie Kirk and she called Erika Kirk starting to look like the bride of Chucky. You call yourself a comedian!! Your material sucks!!! She had to resort to using a man who was assassinated for speaking only the truth and his mourning wife. I can't believe I paid money to listen to evil!! She also mentioned that she had 4 abortions and last one was her favorite. That was supposed to be funny!!! Ridiculous!!! I will never come back to this establishment!!! I've been here twice now! The first time was when I wanted to check out the hypnotist act back in May. This used to be another comedy venue, but Mic Drop has been revamped with pretty murals and lots of purple- I love the decor so much! The lights above our booth looked like little mics and there are even frames of famous comedians that I actually recognize! Make sure you get there an hour early, so that you can get the best seats and to order your food/drinks with minimal interruptions. We started with The Rabbit Hole Cocktail, which is shareable between 2-4 people. It came with Tito's Vodka, plantation pineapple rum, raspberry liqueur, cranberry juice, Cutwater ginger beer and was served in a cute teapot with gummies on top and a clown nose! The drink was surprisingly not too sweet! For food, we shared the skewer flight and shrimp aguachile. The skewer flight had baharat shrimp, lemongrass pork, chicken souvlaki, and cilantro yogurt sauce. It was pretty hearty and flavorful. The aguachile was surprisingly good! I also ordered some water, which came in a Liquid Death can. It was very refreshing! The second time I came was last week. I had dinner prior to the show, so our group only ordered cocktails and mocktails. A few of us chose the strawberry burlesque, which was a bit sweet. My friend ordered All of the soda, which came with unlimited refills! My other friend got the Looking Glass Sangria, which she didn't care for. Another one got the Chronic Ale in a can, which she enjoyed. Overall, I had a nice time at both occasions. The hypnotist was entertaining- I wonder if it was real?? One of the audience members came up to me to give me a hug (under hypnosis) and realized that we don't know each other and gave me a disgusted look afterwards, which is what the hypnotist said would happen. The last time I went, there was a variety of comedians telling their jokes, but they weren't as funny as the hypnotist. Mic Drop Comedy opened in Kearny Mesa area of San Diego in May 2022. I was taken here on a Friday night date (6/24). I love the atmosphere and vibe. The bar is to the left as soon as you talk in - and someone will escort you to the show area on the right after tickets are purchased and validated. The comedy show that night was Ali Macofsky. As for the food and drinks, YUMMY! - Don't Grow Up Grilled Cheese (tomato confit, gruyere, monterey jack, basil, on sourdough) - My Girlfriend Isn't Hungry (sidewinder fries w. secret sauce) - Mom's Favorite (cereal infused rice crispy treat) - Locals Only Mule I couldn't take any pictures because the comedy show had already started. Went to the Mic Drop's first comedy drag brunch bingo hosted by FIF Productions yesterday and had the best time! My friends and I love bingo. We are like 70 year old ladies and are always ready to get cutthroat to win. Hehe. We arrived when the doors opened and were seated near the stage. We ordered cocktails and food which were all reasonably priced. Drinks had a perfect pour and the food was extremely tasty. They have a good offering for both food and drinks which I prefer to a menu the size of a Bible. I ordered the nachos, friend, Celtic, ordered the french toast, and friend, Vic ordered the breakfast tacos. It was the best way to start a day of drinking which is what we knew was going to happen when the day began. The Kings and Queens were outstanding especially the MC Clitus Black who was absolutely hysterical. Clitus and the show's order ran together so great. They started the first drag number around 1:30 which gave everyone time to eat and drink and for the servers to clear away the debris. In between numbers Clitus would return to the straightforward bingo with some good comedy. My friends and I cheered and laughed until our sides and faces hurt. It was the best Sunday funday and I cannot wait for the next drag event at Mic Drop. Well done and keep it up! read more

I've been here about 5 times this year for different shows. My favorite shows hands down were Martin Armini and Margaret Cho. The venue is small but big enough for groups and great view of the stage no matter where you are seated. Drinks and food are overpriced and underwhelming but I love the VIP tickets and reserved seating. Parking is also easy making this one of my favorite entertainment venues due to size and the line up of great shows. I recently signed up for the email list and got free tickets to a show and was able to take family who were visiting. Go for the headliners and special events!!! I've been to larger comedy shows in SD and it wasn't as good because the venues were larger. Hopefully getting tickets to another show soon but waiting for technical support with their website. read more

I'm not going to judge them on the performance of the comedians the place itself is pretty comfortable but this time I was charged over $20 for nachos which included about 15 little half soggy chips, NINE DOLLARS for one soda (as much a a mixed lemonade! Was NOT expecting that), and then the tip screen on their machine said based on original price of xyz, but they don't tell you that that already includes a 4% service charge which means they scammed an extra tip out of me thank God I asked for a receipt and have proof. I will probably be talking to the Better Business Bureau for deception because they did not ask me to tip on the original price like IT SAID, they asked me to tip on an inflated lie!! Like others have said mixed experience here. The comedy was absolutely great.They have really done a good job at selecting talent. The bad review comes from the fact that the food is so ungodly overpriced and so little value. For a tiny plate of nachos with little whisps of meat we were charged $28! Add on a salad and two sodas and a tip and our total was over $100 and we were still hungry when we left. :( Honestly the price gouging for the food is insane here. Absolutely LOVED Steven Ho! 5 stars for him! What I was NOT thrilled about is that their actual tables/seating was designed for 4 people per table. So if you're a couple, you will be seated with 2 other strangers at the same table. The tables are impossibly small. So small in fact, that you will inevitably be forced into the aisles because others at the table will have overtaken more than their share of the "space" and therefore the serving staff will incessantly scold you for being in the aisles when there is literally no place to go! Secondly, we were quite literally packed in to this place like sardines. As I scanned the room I couldn't help but wonder what the maximum occupancy was for the venue and if it was approved by the Fire Marshal Inspector. Lastly, don't bother with the fancy fruity drinks. We ordered one in a glass tea-kettle looking pitcher, paid a premium for it, and it honestly tasted like breakfast juice. No alcohol could be detected. Save yourself a bundle and pass on these drinks. We will absolutely not return to this venue. read more

I was really looking forward to my first visit to Mic Drop Comedy in San Diego, but unfortunately, my experience was far from enjoyable. I was seated right in the front, and while I was asked once not to interact with the comedian, the comedian continued looking at me and making comments, which made it feel natural to respond. I've been to plenty of comedy shows where respectful audience interaction is welcomed, but this was the first time I've ever been asked to leave--for simply laughing and answering questions that were directed at me. It was an uncomfortable and frustrating experience, especially since I wasn't heckling or disrupting the show in any way. If audience engagement isn't allowed, maybe the performers shouldn't interact with the crowd at all. read more

I attended a show at the Mic Drop Comedy in San Diego on September 3, 2025. The name of the show was Nurses Night Out, and Greg "G "Williams was the headliner. He is a former veteran and currently a practicing Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurse. There were two other comedians who performed opening acts. (their names unknown to me) I expected to hear satire and social commentary based on healthcare experiences. However, many of the sets resulted in being a vehicle for offensive material: * Disrespecting our gay and trans community * Reinforcing harmful stereotypes * Repeated graphic sexual content * Using overly raunchy material I am a member of the medical community, as were many of the other audience members. Mr. Williams did take time to honor the healthcare professionals. His funniest set was when an audience member reached for Mr. William's water bottle to secure the lid. I hope this feedback provides some insight for future shows. read more
