The theatre is small and tucked away near a British pub. Parking is rough on the busy streets but we found a spot in the residential area nearby. We arrived close to the start of the show, so there was not a long wait to check in. The process was quick and they sell reasonably priced popcorn and drinks in the entryway. They do open seating in the very small, intimate theater. The show started promptly and the energy was so fun. The host was high energy and both teams gave it their all. Essentially, the two teams compete against each other with the voting being done by audience cheers. I'm glad to say that the team I was rooting for won! Throughout the show, they would often invite audience participation but they do not force it on anyone, and it is all very good natured. Time flew by and there was a 15 min intermission in the middle. The bathroom is outside the theater and there were staff member standing by to direct lost patrons. At the end of the show, the cast members stood by the exit to chat, and accept congratulations and high-fives as we left. I had a great first live comedy experience at the National Comedy Theatre, and I would love to attend more of their shows in the future!

The fee for the lesson and party is $15, for party only - $10. The announcement (https://www.queenbeessd.com/swign-dance) places the lesson at 6:30-7:30PM, the dance with DJ music is supposed to start at 7:30PM. On the day of my visit, the times were shifted by half an hour, so if you want to just dance, 8PM is the good time. The dance lesson by Mercedes Moore (yes, the great San Diego singer!) is excellent, most of the 20+ dancers appeared to be regulars and thus had accumulated significant amount of skill, yet due to small size of group, a true beginner should feel OK. Unlike most places in San Diego, this one has noticeably more leads (traditionally men) than follows (women), so this venue might be great for a true beginner follower. During the social party few more dancers appeared, but the group remained pretty small, and by 9PM it became hard to find a dance partner (the music was still going on). Some logistics: the free (street) parking is very limited. The best paid parking is across the street in a well-lit parking lot ($5 for two hours). The wooden floor is of OK quality, the seating is adequate for the small crowd. As always for small gatherings, bringing one's own dance partner is recommended, although on the day I have visited, it was easy for follows to find a lead. Overall: a true beginner follow should definitely check out this venue. An intermediate lead that wants just to dance, should consider bringing his own follower.

No AC, shoulder-to-shoulder with everyone, and moving around felt like being in a battle royal before the matches even started. It remained closed until 2008 where it was restored and now it full of performances from comedy shows, plays and music. On this first time visit I came here to see Bobby Lee's stand up performance. Our seats were in the balcony level way above. At this level it is a little diffcult to see the stage as you have to angle your head down wards to see the stage. Viewable but its very far. The seats are very tiny and it difficult to walk across as every inch is used up in the theatre. Acoustic were great and the overall detail and restoration is amazing to look at. Great theatre venue overall but would recommend not sitting in balcony.

I was a member of this chorus for several years. This is the friendliest, most open bunch of…read moreladies you'll ever meet. Although they are "lesbian-identified", you don't have to be gay to join -- there are plenty of straight members. I'm straight, and I always felt comfortable and welcome. You don't have to audition for the chorus, and the dues are really reasonable, so if you love to sing and have your Sunday afternoons free, this is the place to be. The conductor Chris Allen is an all-round nice and funny guy. He plays the piano and conducts at the same time -- pretty amazing talent. The music you sing varies quite a bit from modern to classical to folk. There's usually a theme each season. But there are always a couple feel-good female anthem songs, which is good for your self-esteem (straight or gay). There's extra activities and opportunities for singing -- always great if you can, but if you can't because of your schedule, no worries either. Their motto is "come for the music, and stay for the heart" and it's true. I have a lot of fond memories with these girls.

These ladies are AWESOME!…read more I attended their concert this past Saturday, called "Cause They Were Here: 20 Years of Harmony", and it was a fantastic night! A friend of mine is a member of this chorus and I'm so glad she invited me to come hear their music. This chorus has been around - you guessed it - for 20 years! It is an all-inclusive chorus of women, although the majority of its members are lesbian. At the beginning of this performance, they "chanted" some facts about themselves which were astonishing: The number of members who were strait, lesbian, or bi-sexual; how many members had been victims of abuse, whether physical, sexual, or emotional; how many children, grand-children, great-grand children - and yes, even GREAT-GREAT Grand-children they all had!; how many of them were married or single; how many had been victims of violent crimes or rape; how many had bachelors, graduate, and doctoral degrees; from what countries each of their families hailed, how many were immigrants, how many languages they spoke ... etc, etc. This was really powerful because it set this feeling of unity and togetherness between the chorus and the audience. Immediately, you found reasons to feel connected to these women, to feel proud of them, to be in awe of their accomplishments or the struggles they overcame. It was a great start. From there, it just got better. The song choice, the harmonies, and the piano and guitar were amazing. It was obvious these women have been working together to create a special group for a very long time. They ended the evening with a special song everyone could sing together in a circle, holding hands. Aww... it was very sweet! I recommend seeing the San Diego Women's Chorus anytime you have the opportunity. They are a worthy arts group to support!

From the moment I first messaged them, they were extremely professional and genuinely excited to perform at my daughter's Taylor Swift-themed Sweet 16. They asked thoughtful questions about her music preferences and completely customized both the performance and the outfits just for her. They also did beautiful ambient performances during cocktail hour and again later in the evening, which was such a perfect touch. On top of that, they changed outfits three times to match different vibes throughout the night! I received so much praise and amazing feedback about them from our guests -- they truly took the event to the next level. They were total sweethearts and even brought my daughters up on the Lyra so they could take pictures -- such a special and unforgettable moment. We loved them so much that we even took a private class with Carolina and Ana afterward, and by the end they had both my daughter and me flying (even though it is so hard -- major respect!). It gave us an even deeper appreciation for their talent, strength, and energy. We are truly in awe and couldn't recommend them more highly!

Is still well preserved & maintained. There's limited food/snack options and the drinks are a little pricey, but in all fairness, the prices are on par with other Theaters. If you have balcony seating, there are no elevators so you will have to take the stairs..which are quite numerous ....important to know if you have walking limitations.

The performance was wonderful and the voices of the cast were absolutely beautiful. The theater itself is large and you can see very well. I'm not very tall and even though people were seated in front of me I had a perfect view of the stage. The seats are comfortable and the ushers are very helpful. I believe there are concession stands on every floor as well as bars where you can get soft drinks or alcoholic beverages. The concessions are quite expensive but you expect that when you're at a theater of any kind. Very easy to find parking in the area. There is a large parking structure right next to the Civic Center as well as different parking lots where you can easily just park and walk across the street to the theater. The only rule that I have seen is that you do not bring in a bag that is larger than 12 in by 12 in. You go through a back check and walk through a metal detector but that's pretty common for any type of concert as well. Inside is very comfortable and I always enjoy coming here for a performance.
