I imagined these murder mystery dinners to be Sherlock Holmes-esque, dark and mysterious...but instead this was quite the opposite. We came here on a 80's theme 'Til death do us part' series and the setting was straight out of a cheesy, tacky 80's theme prom night and I loved every second of it. The actors are hilarious and quite talented as each would play more than one role. I laughed so much during the entire show. While I would have hated to be one of the chosen ones from the audience to participate in the show, it was really fun and funny to see audience participation. Everyone was a good sport about it and it made it that much more memorable. But, I'm so glad I was out of reach to be called upon. Service was great. Food was edible, but who's there for the food anyway. It was my birthday and they made sure to embarrass me by having everyone sing Happy Birthday to me. (thanks, guys - I hate you). The actors and actresses all put on a great show and allow you to take photos with them at the end. Overall, it was a really fun night and would definitely recommend it.

After living in San Diego for 10 years, it feels like we've done it all. So, when I wanted to gift…read morethe BF a unique Christmas present, it felt like there was nothing left to do. As if it was fate, I read an article by San Diego magazine that mentioned the Red Spade Theater. I had never heard of it before, but with an affordable ticket price, I thought why not? I pre-ordered the tickets online and we enjoyed the most magical evening with Sebastian! There is plenty of parking in the area and it's easy to access. The theater is so small and intimate. There were maybe 20 people in the audience with us and everyone had a chance to participate in the show. Now, I'm kind of a skeptic. I was trying to pay attention to all the different spots on the stage. When he'd tell us to look at the cards, I'd look at his hands or the table, but he wasn't giving anything away. After seeing Sebastian, I have to believe that magic is real. I swear things just disappeared right in front of my eyes. It was an incredible show. This is truly one of the best possible date nights in San Diego. This show was incredible and Sebastian is so talented. I'm in awe!

Our evening started at the small wine bar next door. It is a cute bar with friendly owners. There, we got a couple glasses of wine to start off the night, when the magician came in to start a few tricks at our table. He made his way around to all of the couples in the bar. We then brought our wine into the small theater. it looked like there was room for about 30 people, but our show had only 8 people. We filled the front row. The show was very crowd interactive, and I found myself on stage immediately. I realized that the magician had been interviewing people in the bar in order to be able to talk about them in the show. With an audience of 8, we were definitely able to participate quite a bit. It was mostly card and slight of hand. I appreciate how close up everything was, and thought he did a really good job. All in all, it was a fun show, and an interesting way to spend an evening. Perhaps I'll return after a while and enjoy the show again sometime. At $32, you can't beat the price. It made for a fun date night.

I loved how confident they all were, and that women of all shapes and sizes were represented in their troupe. I've been twice now, with husband and friends, the most recent trip on Valentine's Day for their sold-out show. So much fun! I would recommend this show to anyone (ok, maybe anyone other than my parents)- I've never cheered so hard or smiled so much in a two hour period. My only tip would be to get to Queen Bee's early- you'll want good seats for the show, and the dancers usually reserve a few rows for their friends, so you won't have the full range of seats you'd expect for the venue. Thanks ladies! Can't wait for the next show :)

You get nervous about being able to hold certain poses, how your outfit will shift around, the energy of the photographer, other factors, etc. But Ana, Viktoria, and Maria were such an incredible team to work with and made the day such a smooth and relaxing experience. Not long after I signed up for this photoshoot, Ana contacted me for a dress rehearsal she would be hosting with the lollipop apparatus a month before the set photoshoot date. This was such a thoughtful and amazing idea, as I would realize that there were tricks I could do but wouldn't look good with my dress. The day of the photoshoot, our small but lovely group met up to carpool to the dunes. And the week before, Ana sent out an email to remind us of things to bring to avoid getting car sick, heat stroke, etc. This email, along with all the schedule management, healthy snacks, photoshoot accessories, water, and more showed how much thought and care Ana placed into the day. I can't think of a single thing I would change and look forward to another photoshoot in the future with Moonveil Aerial :)

The theatre is small and tucked away near a British pub. Parking is rough on the busy streets but we found a spot in the residential area nearby. We arrived close to the start of the show, so there was not a long wait to check in. The process was quick and they sell reasonably priced popcorn and drinks in the entryway. They do open seating in the very small, intimate theater. The show started promptly and the energy was so fun. The host was high energy and both teams gave it their all. Essentially, the two teams compete against each other with the voting being done by audience cheers. I'm glad to say that the team I was rooting for won! Throughout the show, they would often invite audience participation but they do not force it on anyone, and it is all very good natured. Time flew by and there was a 15 min intermission in the middle. The bathroom is outside the theater and there were staff member standing by to direct lost patrons. At the end of the show, the cast members stood by the exit to chat, and accept congratulations and high-fives as we left. I had a great first live comedy experience at the National Comedy Theatre, and I would love to attend more of their shows in the future!
