I love this restaurant. The food is good, it's cheap and service is fast. I ordered the $20 combo that comes with a drink, appetizer, and entree. Very good, worth the price.

Great Chinese spot in SCP! They have some reasonable deals and the food tasted great. There have been times when the line was super long but usually it's not too bad to get seated. Overall all the signature items are probably safe to order.

Came here on a whim for lunch! Filling and not too pricy. My mom and I came here on a weekend lunch, small line but went quickly waiter only 10 min. They have table and counter seating, relatively spacious. They specialize in noodle and dumplings, have combo and à la carte option. We share the beef noodle soup combo with spicy dumplings and passion fruit tea, also ordered cucumber in the side. Beef noodle soup (8.5/10)-did less spicy and it was perfect large portion noodles were perfectly cooked beef was tender and chunky Spicy dumplings (8/10)-for the sauce on the side glad we did since it was spicy, but dumplings were plump and large wish skin was thinner Passion fruit tea (9/10)-refreshing and fruity good on summer day Cucumber (6/10)-not very crunchy but portion is large and good deal for $5.00 We spent $35 which is a good deal for the portion. Service is fast and food is delicious! Would love to come back and try the other noodle dishes.

Mian packs the heat and the flavor! Best appetizer: Chili Oil Chao Shou for its tender dumplings swimming in a tangy, spicy chili oil. For non-spicy starters, Shredded Tofu Skin, Seaweed Salad, and Pickled Cucumbers are nice, light, and refreshing. The Beef Roll Pancake was okay but with so many stronger dishes on the menu, it's probably not one I'd order again. Their noodles are amazing! The Golden Soup Chicken Noodle has the best broth - rich, savory, milky, and deeply comforting. The Spicy Beef Soup Noodles come loaded with tender beef. The Mapo Tofu Noodles carries silky tofu, spicy sauce, and a gentle numbing kick. The lively atmosphere, vibrant decor, and buzzing energy made me feel like I was dining in the middle of a bustling street market. Plenty of seating too - equally great for a solo noodle run or a group feast. Service was fast and efficient, though during busy rushes you may need to wave someone down for a quick reminder. Overall, a fun, flavorful spot that delivers on both atmosphere and Sichuan comfort food.

Came here on a Tuesday and were seated immediately. This restaurant chain earned a Michelin star in 2021. It is located downstairs from Din Tai Fung. They offer three levels of spiciness. Mild is already spicy and tongue tingling. If you are looking for spicy this is the place to come.

You know, it really is true when they say, "when one door closes, another opens". Because, as disappointing as it was to have our initial dinner plans foiled by the long line at Din Tai Fung (our fault for not having a reservation, but a two and a half hour wait on a weeknight?!), things didn't turn out all that terribly for us. After all, it's hard to be too upset when it led to us eating at such an awesome spot like Mian! Located on the first floor, directly underneath the perpetually busy Din Tai Fung, what prompted us to come here when we did may have been because it was the nearest alternative we saw, but I imagine we would have ended up here at some point anyways. For one, the decor and the artwork on their walls, in particular, are pretty eye-catching, but mostly, the menu is pretty enticing. Although it may not be super extensive, Mian has a solid selection of dishes to offer, from their Chili Oil Chau Shou, Spicy Beef Noodle Soup, and Mapo Tofu Noodles to their Thousand Year Egg with Tofu, Fried Pumpkin Pancake, and Spicy Beef Rib Noodle Soup. In short, there's plenty to choose from! -- THOUSAND YEAR EGG WITH TOFU I was super excited to try this, but, sadly, it ended up being more okay than great. The slices of tofu were decent, albeit really thin, and the eggs themselves were awesome, but the preserved vegetables on top were a bit overwhelming. -- CHILI OIL CHAO SHOU To me, the portion felt a bit light, but, to be fair, it's also because I just wanted more of this! The dumpling was perfect - the skins had just the right thickness (had a nice chew) and the filling was so meaty. Plus, the chili oil was terrific and had just a touch of heat! -- SPICY BEEF NOODLE SOUP Ehh...more solid than spectacular. The noodles were tender and the broth was decently flavorful. However, the chunks of beef felt a little inconsistent to me - some pieces were juicy while others were a bit on the chewy/tough side. -- CHENGDU ZA JIANG NOODLES While it wasn't the prettiest dish to look at, this tasted great. There was a good amount of meat and vegetables and I liked the slight kick that the sauce had. I just wish there had been more noodles to balance how much meat/veggies this had. Between how good the food is, the solid service (the workers were friendly and quick), and how convenient of an option they are, Mian is awesome spot, whether you're already going to be at South Coast or not. What's more, the prices here are relatively budget friendly as well, especially when compared to how much you might end up spending at Din Tai Fung (ignoring the fact that they're not exactly alike). Add all of that together and it makes me more than a little excited to come back whether it be here or at their outpost back home in the Bay Area!

pros: friendly service, clean tables cons: n/a we ordered the signature beef noodle level 2 spicy, golden chicken soup, steamed egg, pickled cucumbers, and iced lemon tea the signature beef noodle soup was not spicy at all, i felt like the broth tasted watered down/plain, just wasn't reminiscent of traditional beef noodle soups i had in the past. the golden chicken soup was ok, the pulled chicken was chewy and tough. the steamed egg was also ok, it was soft and silky but the flavor was just ok the lemon tea had a strong fragrance but the flavor was lacking everything was just ok, nothing stood out to me for me to want to return, if i was shopping at the mall and didn't want to wait at marugame i'd pop in here

Mian offers a really enticing combo meal option that is priced between $20-$25. I chose the $25 dollar combo with Chili oil dumplings, spicy beef noodles, and a drink. In today's economy, this is a steal! Portion is really fair and I had leftover. No complaints about the quality of the food. It's authentic and has good flavors.

4.5 stars I first tried Mian when they had their location in Las Vegas (with free mung bean soup!). I finally got a chance to try this location in South Coast Plaza. There was no wait for a party of two to be seated on a Saturday around 1:30PM. The interior is not that large but there are a good number of tables and the decorations are beautiful. Service was fine but minimal due to ordering via QR code. They have combination deals where you choose an appetizer, noodle dish, and beverage for $20-25 + tax, a pretty good deal. We tried two such combos and enjoyed the crispy cucumbers, golden soup wontons, hot and sour noodles, and spicy intestine noodles. We ordered passionfruit green tea and mung bean soup as our drinks. The food came out promptly. All of the food was tasty with generous portions. The golden soup has the tastiest broth in my opinion, and the mung bean soup was super refreshing. You can't go wrong with Mian for an affordable and tasty meal!

such a good combo deal. you get a drink, appetizer, and an entree! i got the boba milk tea, spicy beef noodle soup, and a chicken cutlet. the spicy beef noodle soup was very flavorful and the noodles have a good chewy texture. the noodles are on the thinner side but still good! the chicken cutlet was also really good and crispy! the only thing i would pass on was the boba milk tea. i'd get a different drink next time. you order on your phone and the food comes out pretty fast! will come back again!

I ordered the Combo B which comes with a drink, appetizer and a dish for $25.99. I ordered the passion fruit green tea, chili oil dumplings and spicy beef noodle soup. The passion fruit green tea was very refreshing. The chili oil dumplings and spicy beef noodle soup were both flavorful and cooked very well, but it was lacking a bit of spice. To order your food, you scan the QR code on your phone but the staff was very friendly and helpful making sure we weren't having any trouble ordering from our phones and helping us navigate the menu and giving recommendations based on our food preferences. They would clear our table of any extra empty dishes to give us more room. The service was very attentive and friendly.

Came for their Combo set deal and it was very filling! The potions are great if you're looking to share between two people and don't want to get exceptionally full. If you order the combo for yourself, you will definitely feel very satisfied. Beef Noodle Soup (8.5/10) Not very spicy, great noodle texture, and balanced broth. This is a great beginner beef noodle soup due to the rich flavors, tender beef pieces, and mild spice. Spicy dumping (6.5/10) Love the garlic flavor and chillies that compliment the dumplings well! However the wrapper was a tad too thick and the filling felt like it was missing something. Beef Roll Pancake (7.5/10) Great flakey texture from the pancake and wrapped tightly into a roll. I definitely enjoyed the balance of cucumber and onions. The sauce used was a tad sweet in my opinion. The service was fast and using the table QR code to check out made the experience accurate and efficient. I enjoyed that there were photos on the ordering page so you can see the dishes! I appreciated the servers for coming to check in with us frequently.

We had dinner here the other night. It is located inside South Coast Plaza on the level below Din Tai. So there is ample parking. The restaurant itself is charming and has a fun vibe. We both got the $25.99 Signature Combo. You get your choice of drink, an appetizer and one of the signature bowl of noodles. For an extra $3 you can add a dessert. We got the brown sugar ginger tea and the passionfruit green tea. Both were so refreshing and tasty. For our appetizers we got the chili oil dumplings. We loved the flavor and the heat on the dumplings. The dumplings themselves were soft and filled with pork. We got the spicy sparerib noodles. I loved the bok choy. The noodles were fresh and bouncy. The meat fell off the sparerib bones. The broth was rich, warm and delicious. For dessert we got the brown sugar rice cakes. Soft, sticky mochi texture and the brown sugar was the right amount of sweetness. The pumpkin cakes were soft and delicious. I loved the grated coconut on top. In addition to the signature combo, we added spicy cucumbers. They were crispy and just the right amount of heat. The vegetable fried rice was delicious and so flavorful that we ate all of it. We also got a cold combo with seaweed salad, wooden mushrooms and beef. It was perfect to break up some of heat from the noodles and dumplings. Wonderful service and large portions will make this your new soup noodle spot.

Tried this place for lunch today and the food is super tasty. Tried the beef noodle soup, spicy dumplings, beef pancake , cucumbers and spicy fungus. All the dishes were very tasty and had their own unique taste. I ordered the beef noddle soup as mild spicy and i think it was still spicy enough. The interior is very nicely set up so feels very cozy. The waiter kept checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Must try if you are in south coast. read more

The sign beside the door said this is a Michelin-rated restaurant...we've been to a few of those and this isn't it. Paper cups and a dirty water pitcher, paper napkins, dirty tables with dirty placemats. Service was OK but you order from phone with a "shopping cart" scan the tag at the door "oh no no that's for take out" scan the tag on the table instead - no help with menu but you can't pay using app because that part is offered after you eat....a lady with a tablet and a phone which doesn't work and looks like a war surplus model. Beef ribs were tasteless as was chicken fried rice no sauces or even soy sauce on table. Noodles just OK. Never again. read more

Food is fine, but the menu and order system is based on QR code. The restaurant is located in a place with almost no reception. They also offer no WiFi. The mall WiFi is also very weak and hard to connect to. It is almost impossible to order like this. Strongly suggest them to either provide WiFi or use alternative methods. read more

Came into the restaurant with only two table. And they already be eating, put in our order waited 30 minutes later and yet the food and not come out. My noodle was cold when it came out. Had to send it back in and wait another 15 mins. 2 other table came in 15 minutes after us already finished eating when I still hasn't got my food yet. unbelievable three guy in the kitchen just stand around talking instead of cooking. read more

Hospitality is nice everyone seems calm cooks are there laid back with many of them cooking on order atmosphere is nice as intended Spicy beef noodles medium spice- The spice of the noodles are nicely blended over time the spice does tend to build up the broth is very subtle and the beef are beef chunks and all fatty so maybe hard to chew but fits the soup description. Chengdu zajiang noodle mild spice- The spice of the noodles builds up over the time while you eat which was nice, but the flavor isn't my favorite. It tastes a little too meaty for my liking, although it is still good, but I'm not sure if I would get it again. Matcha crepe cake- Strong flavor of matcha, melts in your mouth and very creamy. Overall very yummy and I would get it again. Brown sugar sticky rice- Very chewy and sweet very simple flavors packed into a fried dessert very yummy Mung bean soup (drink)- Yes it taste as it sounds but has a hint of sweetness definitely made to be eaten with the soup helps to tone down the spice and helps with resetting the taste pallet Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea- The taste is a mixture of sweet and bitter, very nice blend, and the boba is the chewy kind which makes it a fun drink. Very minor wait to get in. As I'm eating the food is clearly fresh and delicious. (I'm not a noodle or Asian food type person) most important to me is the cleanliness of the place. The floors are usually a good indication of a place. They are the hardest to keep clean and yet these floors are clean as can be as well as the rest of the restaurant. The service was good. I ordered the Chengdu zajiang noodle and minced pork steamed egg. Steamed egg was good but the chengdu zajiang noodles taste really salty and sweet. I don't know what they put in the seasoning but my tongue starts to tingling sensation. This noodle supposedly their frequently ordered item. Taste really bad. You have to order online but my phone signal in south coast plaza is at 1 or no bar. We could not order food. Waiter finally came to take our order. read more

I went here a couple weeks ago and got Chengdu Zajiang noodles and chili oil dumplings. The noodles were very good(especially when I put some of the leftover chili oil on them), but the noodles were another level. I've had dreams and am constantly thinking about these dumplings. I've never before experienced this. The chili oil dumplings have haunted me. So much so that I went back go Miàn with my girlfriend and ordered two plates of chili oil dumplings. It was so wonderful. I also got to try the spicy beef noodle soup, which was very good for a rainy day. Highly recommend! But beware--if you get the chili oil dumplings you may have recurring dreams about them. read more

The noodles we ordered were really good! The service was decent too. I think the $25 noodle combo is a great deal. I noticed that all the staff in the restaurant were wearing latex gloves the whole time, which is great for hygiene. However, I did see them wipe the tables, put away dirty dishes, touch the trash , grab clean utensils, and serve food without changing their gloves in between. While I appreciate their efforts to stay safe, it's a bit concerning because it might not be the most sanitary practice. It's important for them to change their gloves after different tasks to ensure everything stays clean and safe. read more

Late review. I ordered the spicy beef soup and the steamed egg. The soup came out but I was told the steamed egg was going to take awhile. NP, I'll wait. Finished up the spicy beef soup. No steamed egg yet and it's been at least 20 minutes after placing the order via QR CODE on the table. I ended up cancelling it because what's the point now? I was told that the machine doesn't work (so maybe that's why I didn't get the steamed egg.) BS. One person knew I ordered the steam egg and the other person says the machine wasn't working. I left feeling that, this restaurant is not really a "service" place. It's a step away from ordering from a kiosk and getting 1/2 of my food dropped off. The soup was ok; not worth coming back for me. I'd rather patronize the udon shop next door. read more

Appetizer and main course was very flavorful. Pickled cucumbers were delicious. Chinese doughnuts had great taste. Spare rib noodle was a too spicy even for mild. Service is okay, as you order off your phone and you miss the human interaction. Ambiance is inviting. read more

We went on a Sunday afternoon and waited about 40 minutes outside in line to be seated. Once we were seated, the lady quickly told us to scan our QR code to order and that was the last we were ever checked on. It took awhile for our food to come out. We ordered two of the $25 combo, which comes with a drink, appetizer, and entree. We ordered a boba milk tea and a strawberry banana smoothie. For our entree, we ordered spicy beef noodle soup. Overall, the flavor of the soup was good, but the beef was chewy. For our appetizers, we got the dumplings. It tasted like it was taken right out of the freezer. Cold and hard. It was terrible. After we finally got our food, halfway through finishing, I noticed we still haven't gotten our drinks. I tried to wave someone down, but no one came. So I went up to the closest worker and mentioned we still haven't received our drinks. He said that he'll get them.... He didn't. We finally finished our food and were still waiting on our drinks. I waved down another worker and he told me that the drinks were backed up, so it'll come out shortly. So we waited for another 30 minutes after that just for our drinks. After a bit, I started noticing people who were seated after us, they got their drinks. So again, my boyfriend this time, went up to the same guy who told us our drinks are backed up, that we still haven't gotten our drinks. We waited another 10 minutes. I could see the restaurant was getting less busy and we were still being ignored. So for the FOURTH TIME, I went up to the guy and told him we haven't received our drinks. Finally, he came over and said it would be right out, but I told him to cancel it since at this point, we have finished our food for over 40 minutes and we had to ask for our drinks four different times. He ended up still giving us our drinks and another lady finally came to have us pay the bill and apologized. She gave us a 10% off, which I think is absolutely ridiculous for the terrible service received. I will definitely not be coming back again. There are many other hole in the wall restaurants that will serve spicy beef noodle soup just as good. This was absolutely not worth the wait. I do not recommend coming to this place. I will continue to search for a better place with a better service and food. read more

The new Mian at the South Coast Plaza is every bit as good as the other outposts in the San Gabriel Valley. My wife and I ordered our usual dumplings and noodles and both lived up to their spicy standards. I was wiping my forehead in between every delicious bite. We were fortunate in that it was a weekend afternoon yet we did not have to wait long for a table. It is a tight space so expect to be dining very close to strangers, which is not a problem for me but may be for others. read more

I find it intriguing that each Mian location offers somewhat different menu items. Since different chefs prepare the food, there are variations in the taste profiles as well. Overall, I usually enjoy all the dishes I try at Mian. My recent visit to Mian at the South Coast location was exciting and lived up to my expectations. The ordering process through the phone was convenient. Although I couldn't find my favorite noodle dish (spicy cold noodles) on the menu, I discovered a variety of soup and dry noodle options unique to this location. While the appetizers were consistent, I noticed that the portion of steamed egg was smaller compared to the Rowland Heights branch. The cucumber salad had a slightly more vinegary taste than I'm accustomed to, but it served as a refreshing side dish. The shredded tofu salad was a tasty appetizer to start with before the main noodle dish. The Chendu Zhajiang noodles had a different flavor compared to other locations, but I enjoyed the sweetness of the sauce, which leaned more towards soy sauce than black bean. I really enjoyed my experience at the Mian in Cerritos, so I was expecting the same at this location in South Coast Plaza. Alas, I was disappointed. Starting with service, while the restaurant wasn't too busy and there was no line, the servers kept walking past me while tending to other customers. I didn't feel very welcomed. The ordering system is efficient, if a little impersonal. After seating me at the counter, the server simply directed me to the QR code on the table to order. The downside of this system is that there's no way to ask for any recommendation, and it wasn't easy if I had any question about the selection. Once again, I felt abandoned. After placing the order online, my bowl of noodle came quickly. Diving into my jajiangmian, I felt plenty of the spicy burn, but not much flavor. It was a strange experience. Perhaps I should have ordered a soup noodle, but I grew wary after reading multiple reviews of the broth being too salty. Overall, it was a letdown, and I am also annoyed by the string of potentially fake five-star reviews from brand new accounts with similar wording. You can't cheat the system and expect not to get noticed. I'll go back to the Cerritos location next time. read more

I recently visited this restaurant and unfortunately had a negative experience with one of the female waitresses. Not only was the service incredibly slow, but the waitress seemed disinterested and provided poor service throughout the meal. We had to constantly ask for refills and other basic necessities, and it felt like we were a burden to her. On the positive side, there was one male waiter with dyed hair who really stood out. Despite not being our assigned waiter, he noticed our frustrations and went out of his way to assist us. He was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service. While we appreciated his help, it was disappointing that we had to rely on a different waiter for good service. So this place is below din tai fun and a popular udon place is right next to it. I'm honestly stunned it's not packed more often, Service: 10/10, the people who work here work very hard and are very attentive, they want you to be happy, got some great recommendations from my server (believe her name was Jennifer). Food is great. Last 2 times I was here I had the dry noodles changdu noodles, which were phenomenal. I actually liked them with no spice, vs mild, even mild has a bit of bite of eat, so it you like spicy mild may be enough. Today I got the braised pork soup, it is very good, little peppery but just right. First visit was great - I actually came back the following day (this past Saturday 7/4). Usually, when I'm craving rice noodle soup, I go to my usual Pho 101 - but I wanted to try something different, and was curious about how Fengying's pickled cabbage noodle soups stand out. There's a simple menu - noodle soup or noodles without the broth. You get a selection of proteins including your basic beef / pork / chicken options, to more adventurous meats like gizzards and intestines. There's even a snail meat dish which I'm going to add to my "maybe" list for a future visit. After placing my order and finding a spot, the wait was minimal before the cook walked out to the lobby with my bowl, and set it on their condiment bar. I assumed it was my bowl, since I was first to enter as soon as they opened, but there were a few people that came in after me. The condiment bar has several different chili options from mild to spicy to extremely hot. I opted for no spice, and just added a dollop of minced garlic, roasted peanut balls? and a scoop of green onions. My first visit, I opted for the Pickled Cabbage & Beef Noodle Soup. I've never had guilin noodles before - so didn't know what to expect - but was pleasantly surprised. It was stringy, chewy with a udon-like texture. Reminded me of the round white rice noodles normally served with Bun Bo Hue. The beef slices were tender and flavorful - reminded me like pho flank. Broth is clear and clean - a solid base leaving you free to flavor it up however you like from the condiment bar. The pickled cabbage reminds me of Vietnamese dua chua (pickled mustard greens) - so wasn't bad at all - and added a nice balance to the dish. My return visit (which was the following day) - I opted for the Pickled Cabbage & Crispy Pork Noodle Soup. Holy moly. Seriously. This is my favorite dish. I was thinking of just trying a different dish on each visit to find my favorite - but the Crispy Pork has to be it. It's not even super crunchy too - which I'm not a fan of - the broth softens the crispyness enough so that the pork belly almost melts in your mouth. It very much reminds me of heo quay (Vietnamese style crispy pork belly). All bowls are one size only - I barely finished my bowl on my Friday visit, since I shared a light breakfast with a friend prior. I was able to finish my bowl on my Saturday visit though. Oddly enough, there's boxes of Kleenex tissues on each table - there isn't a regular napkin dispenser at all. I later read up on this, and this seems to be custom for hot rice noodle spots, since its more sanitary - tissues dispense one at a time. Drink options are a herbal tea in a red can - that sorta reminded me of the liquid that comes with herbal grass jelly, soda cans, and a bottled drink that the friendly clerk described as sweet tea. Bowls range from $13 to $20 - comparable to what a decent bowl of pho is going for. This is a great alternative to consider if you want to try something new. They take cash and card. Service is great - the friendly gal assisted me on both visits, and happily packed my nearly full bowl up on Friday, since I could barely finish it. Parking is easy - it's in the same otherwise empty lot as Nguyen's Kitchen, off Harbor & Sunflower. I've never seen this lot get full. Overall, a new favorite - and happy to have so closeby in OC. I've read up more about them, and their other locations are in Hacienda Heights and Ontario. Check out the photos! =P
