Maybe a week to hear back. Only way you can get a pickleball lesson from Brian is by signing up for a months-long commitment. Might be a great tennis resource, but if you're looking for a pickleball lesson, don't start here. Spoiler alert: it doesn't take several months to learn how to play Pickleball. Brian wasn't especially cordial, but he did offer a few other suggestions. Because it took him forever to respond, however, I had already gotten a great response from a few other places.

Brian offers novice and intermediate group classes throughout the week and a package of six sessions costs $225. Classes take place at Kirk Monroe Tennis Center in Coconut Grove in the evenings. The classes I attend start at 8:00 pm and last until 9:30 pm, with an optional warmup at 7:30 pm. Attendance varies but is usually anywhere from 4-8 people depending on the night. Overall, I've learned a ton the handful of times I've gone. Brian is very knowledgeable and passionate about the sport. My fellow classmates are super friendly and encouraging... I'm starting to progress and will hopefully be confident enough one day to take part in one of the tournaments he organizes. No matter where you are on your tennis journey, I'd recommend giving Backhand City a try if you're looking to fine tune your skills!

Huge thanks to Diandra L for introducing me to this fabulous gym!…read more In town for a family wedding, I kicked off my Saturday morning with a P.I.T. Conditioning class with Sara. My cousin was my partner in class and there was no lack of motivation as we made our way through 20 stations and got a full body workout including strength and cardio. Sara and Nico were both super welcoming and this gym has an awesome community feel to it where everyone feels welcome. If I lived in the area, I'd definitely be a regular here. Instead, I'll keep it in mind for future visits!

I have done this workout at their Wynwood studio and also the Little River location so I knew I was in for a challenging but fun workout. The workout format is PIT (Partner interval training) so you rotate around the room with a partner for 20 stations for 2 minutes each. Depending on the exercise you and your partner alternate for reps or time or work together. If you're someone who has anxiety about trying a new gym and having to pair up with someone you don't know - do not worry about this here! The trainer and also everyone in the class are welcoming and friendly so it's a-ok if you are walking in alone. I love the idea of pairing up with someone who's super into the class because it pushes me to lift heavier, try harder and make them proud. I have gone to Nico's 7:10 am class for the last two weeks and then another Saturday class with Andre. They break up the classes into strength, conditioning and performance days to focus on different styles of training, but I have grown to love the set up of this workout. The studio does have some parking spots in front, but there is also plenty of metered parking nearby as well as a garage. Pro-tip - if you go to a class before 9 am, the meters are free. You'll also want to be sure to bring a towel to this workout as the studio does require it. It's def needed because you work up a sweat and don't want to leave your equipment sweaty for your partner or other class participants. The energy and music during the classes with fuel you to an epic calorie burn, that is gaurenteed!

Life Time Coral Gables, what a unique experience! This location is only one of six properties in…read morethe entire network of Life Time that combines fitness, workspaces, and... LIVING. With these three spaces combined Life Time has really embodied the meaning of a luxury athletic country club. The first three floors make up the Fitness and Work space. The rest of the high-rise is Life Time Living: residences. Floor one: front desk and check-in, group-instructed classes and studios, the kids academy and Life Time Work. Floor two: the cafe, spa and salon, locker rooms, two swimming pools, and a huge cardio room with treadmills, stair masters, elliptical, etc. Floor three: the main fitness floor, and the chiropractic wellness center. I went in around 4 AM when the gym opened and there were less than 5 people in the entire facility. Very quiet. Though they do have a dedicated cardio room on the second floor, if you go to the third floor there's even more cardio equipment in the GTX area. All of the equipment is state-of-the-art and up-to-date by Technogym. The locker rooms are some of the most spacious I have ever seen with private changing rooms . It also includes the typical whirlpool, sauna, steam room, and cold plunge area. I didn't get a chance to experience the group classes since I was there very early in the morning but I'll definitely be back to see how they compare to LT.

He gave me a very deep tissue massage, checked my body carefully, and focused on the muscles that needed the most attention. Since I work out, play tennis, and my job is also physically demanding, this massage was extremely beneficial for my body. I felt a noticeable difference right after the session -- my muscles felt more relaxed, lighter, and recovered. I also really enjoyed that before and after the massage I could use all the spa amenities: the pool, sauna, jacuzzi, and hammam. It's such a great place to relax and recharge. They also have a café, convenient parking, and the front desk service was very friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

They certainly have cheapened out. Gone is the DJ which provided a great sense of place (you just didn't have DJ's in other cities) and it really celebrated the party atmosphere of Miami. Also gone are any remnants of a good buffet. Prior to this year the buffet featured some decent choices and several different stations but now the most prominent food displayed are the Hot Dogs. In what purports to be a special upscale experience now has franks as their main choice on the buffet. There is nothing wrong with a Hot Dog at a ball game but previously the Hot Dog station was a secondary table off to the side. The buffet still features a carving station but it's not very good and there are a few other choices but the food is cafeteria quality. A dessert station no longer has the ice cream selection and the offerings are slim and what they do have is just cheap dried out cupcakes and not much more. A great perk is the ability to order food from your seats and from a different food menu but the low quality food just disappoints and my pizza, fries and chicken fingers were just not good. The staff is still excellent but unfortunately some workers from previous years are no longer there or have been shifted to different sections in the ballpark.

The best part is having servers who will bring your food and drinks. You just order from your phone and it comes out in 15-20 minutes. BE WARNED: if you buy your tickets as resale they DO NOT include parking. Even if it says it does, it does not. I called the ticket office twice before the game and both times was told it would be included but when I got to the game it was not. Im giving three stars due to this and the lack of empathy the staff gave me once it was found that they gave me wrong information. No guest recovery. I would not pay over $250 a ticket for this experience. We were in FL5 row FF, awesome seats if you are a fan of the visiting team.

Key Biscayne isn't just a place--it's a thread running through my life. I first set foot here in…read more1987, when my cousin brought me over the Rickenbacker Causeway after I'd relocated to Los Angeles. That first trip etched itself into memory: the ocean opening wide, the palms swaying like they knew something I didn't, and the sense that I'd stumbled into Miami's quieter, more soulful heart. Later, the island became more than a postcard view. I was accepted into Mast Academy, Miami's marine-focused magnet school perched on Virginia Key--the last stop before the bridge drops you into Biscayne's island calm. But even before that, in the late '90s, my summers belonged here thanks to the M.U.S.T. Program through the Miami Museum of Science. We weren't just kids in a classroom; we were explorers, studying the bay itself under the guidance of the legendary marine biologist Alberto Ramirez. Those days--trawling through seagrass beds, learning how the tides shaped everything, watching science come alive in the salt air--remain some of my most precious memories. Ramirez wasn't just a teacher, he was a lighthouse of his own: steady, guiding, and impossible to forget. Key Biscayne's history runs as deep as its waters. The Tequesta people fished these shores centuries before Europeans arrived. Spanish sailors marked the cape on their maps in the 1500s, and in the 1800s, the Cape Florida Lighthouse stood as both beacon and battleground, attacked during the Seminole Wars, burned, rebuilt, and still standing proud at 95 feet tall. In the 20th century, the island was a coconut plantation, then a playground for the wealthy--and later home to Nixon's so-called "Florida White House," where the nation's business was mixed with scandal under the same tropical sun. Cross the Rickenbacker Causeway and Miami's skyline fades behind you. The pace slows. Families pedal beneath seagrape trees, fishermen lean against seawalls telling stories, and kids chase lizards in Crandon Park while pelicans dive for fish. At the southern tip, Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park stretches open like a piece of paradise. Climb the lighthouse and you see turquoise water forever--the same horizon that's been calling people here for centuries. For me, it's all intertwined: the 1987 trip that introduced me, the pride of Mast Academy, the summers of the M.U.S.T. Program, the salt on my skin, the lessons from Ramirez that shaped how I see the world. Key Biscayne is not just a park, not just a beach, not just an island. It's history, it's education, it's memory--woven together with the kind of magic that sticks with you for life.
