Our favorite Mexican restaurant in Gahanna. Food is great. Large portions. Margaritas are very good. Recommended!

Walking into this restaurant is like stepping into a Mexican fiesta. Bright colorful decor with upbeat music and vibe. Our server, who I think was the manager, seated us quickly and was super friendly and attentive throughout the meal. There is a long bar in one room where a couple locals were dining while watching a game. They also have a back room for larger parties and an outdoor patio. We ordered the beef enchilada, chile relleno combo, and also the chimichanga dinner. Both were very well prepared, and the sauces were definitely not store bought. We asked the manager and he did say that they make their sauces in house. I love that, especially since they were really good and had a deeper spice flavor than other places. read more

I took my wife and two children here on a whim because it had been recommended to me by coworkers and we happened to be in the neighborhood. It was a Thursday night at dinnertime, but we were seated right away. They had a decent-sized crowd, but it wasn't packed. We had a server visit our table quickly and he was very friendly and light-hearted. He was good with the kids and we always appreciate that! It was a bit after 6pm, but I was able to get a Happy Hour margarita ordered, which felt like a good deal! $7.99 for a traditional margarita. (I'm not sure what time their Happy Hour ends) There wasn't much salt on the rim, but I actually didn't notice until I nearly finished it and realized it wasn't there. But it tasted great! I believe it was an authentic margarita, not the sour mix. My kids love Mexican rice and beans (respectively, neither likes both), so they only each ordered their side and feasted on chips and queso (the queso was a bit pricey for a large, but it lasted our entire meal). The queso was great and the chips were good too. Salsa was decent. I ordered the spinach enchiladas and my wife ordered the vegetarian chimichanga. We both enjoyed our meals and agreed we ordered those same meals again in the future. Service was fast and friendly and we had a nice relaxing meal. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the indoors is even nicer than it looks from the outside, although they have a nice outdoor patio with some cool decor out there as well. We'll come back! read more

I've been here 3- 4 times now and It's my new Mexican place. Lots of tables, fast service, friendly staff. As soon as your sit down chips and salsa are on the table. each person gets their own salsa so no worries about double dipping. The menu is extensive 6-8 pages. My favorite dish is Enchiladas Toluca. 3 different enchiladas covered with chorizo sauce and cheese sauce, rice and beans included. I've never ordered dessert because the portions are sooo BIG. There are tons of tables and booths- large outdoor patio. They have live music on weekends. The sound is loud. Plenty of parking in front. Clean restroom. Try it you'll like it. Family owned. I took off one star because of the noise of the music made it hard to hear each other. read more

This neighborhood place is a jewel. We live close by and eat here often. The service in this cheerfully decorated place is wonderful. I absolutely love the gently spiced food. My personal favorite is their shrimp tacos! There are plenty of shrimp and the onions and peppers are cooked to perfection, not overdone. So good! read more

OK mexican food. Nice drive-through--since this location used to be a bank. I don't care for their chicken (shredded and too wet and flavorless) and their refried beans are too watered down. But the tamales are good. Some of the other dishes are worth trying. read more

Mi Tradicion is always friendly, quick and accurate. It is a wonderful place for groups. My favorite is the Chori-Pollo - chicken, chorizo and queso spiced well and not too greasy. The beans and rice are very well seasoned. Enchiladas Tri-Color are also a solid choice. There is a large menu with lots of great options - all the more reason to keep coming back. read more

Mi Tradicion was BOOMING on a cold, rainy Friday night!! My group and I helped contribute to that boom with a group of 10-12 people, which our waiter handled WONDERFULLY. We were not the only large group, and although it was CRAZY busy, everything seemed to run pretty smoothly... This place is SUPER popular, and it almost felt TOO crowded, but it all worked out. You'll find all the usual Americanized Mex. favorites on the menu, along with a few interesting surprises. Prices are VERY reasonable, more so than my "local" Mexican joint back in Springfield. I was tempted to try one of their soups, but went with the vegetarian burrito, which was FULL of fresh (not mushy!!) vegetable and not overloaded with too much cheeeeeese!! Mexican food has such great flavor; I'm happy whenever I can actually taste what I'm eating without it being SMOTHERED in cheese!! Our separate checks were handled expertly once we were ready to leave. We lingered for a bit after our meal without feeling rushed at all, in spite of how busy it was that night. There are just SO MANY great choices in the area for good Mexican food, and I'm sure there are tons of loyal customers here. More of a cheese dip versus what most would consider queso. I'd get it again. Both meals ordered had a lot of food, enough to make two meals. We make time to visit quarterly because of so many other great choices in Columbus. Love the patio. They have regular weekly entertainment. One of only 2 places that will make Skinny Margaritas by the pitcher in Columbus. Their Margarita mix tastes so good. Service is always friendly with plenty on hand helping other servers. Chips and salsa full. Drinks refilled. Special requests met. On this recent visit, I was hosting a large table for a special occasion. Everyone loved the food and tasty libations. Our server made suggestions to help guide some guests to their desired meal. Please note that this is not a fast food speed meal service. Especially when grilled chicken or steak items are prepared to order. Table side guac would be an added flare, but the taste from the kitchen prep was good enough. We will continue to revisit, more in the summer for that patio. read more

I noticed the great reviews and decided to skip my regular spot for a try. I was not impressed. I did like the drive through option. I ordered the chicken taco salad crispy shell. The guacamole on top was brown, the food was mushy and overall not seasoned. It did seem like it was more on the authentic side, maybe I just chose the wrong item to order. read more

Service was fine. There's damn near a 1:1 ratio for waiters to tables occupied. Food came fast. Like within 5 minutes. Which was nice until I tried the food. Flavorless. Bland. Just overall nasty. I ordered a raspberry slushie off the non alcoholic menu seeing as how I'm 6 months pregnant and was brought back a margarita which I took a sip of and was clearly drinking alcohol. Told the server about the mistake and they brought back the non alcoholic drink. Which is listed on the menu for 5.99. Ordered a chicken quesadilla and some rice trying to ensure that my order was simple enough to taste good and be simple. Who messes up a quesadilla. It came out nasty looking wet and droopy flopped right open there was barely any cheese. Even smelled nasty. I asked them to make it with more cheese and less wet chicken and they brought out the same thing another wet tortilla with shredded chicken and barely any cheese. Asked them to just take it off because I didn't even try it it was so gross looking. Received my bill and my plain slushie was $7.99 asked for a menu to make sure I wasn't tripping and sure enough it said $5.99 on the menu. They argued with me that that was the kids price even tho there's not a single word on there indicating there's sizes and prices for sizes, which clearly they're capable of because the regular margaritas have size options. Told them that when I ordered I clearly pointed to the item on the menu and if that's what I ordered why would you bring me some large uncharged drink I didn't ask for that's not even on the menu. Had no answer for me besides that's the kids price. Paid for their ridiculously expensive juice and left without tipping. 0/5 stars. read more

I was set to have an excellent meal after my daughter and good friend had nothing but rave reviews about this place. My experience was different. I rate the Customer Service 10 out of 10 but the food and the drinks definitely lacking. I ordered the premium margarita with either Patron or Jose Cuervo (as listed on the menu u) I never got confirmation on which Tequila was actually used, but the drink was so weak. I couldn't tell it had any in the drink and that was $17! I got the shrimp chimichanga meal and couldn't eat it all so I bought home one of the (two) chimichanga. I sliced it open for lunch the next day for lunch and there were only three shrimp in the entire roll but lotsa dough. The rice and beans excellent avocado salad. My son and I were looking for a Mexican restaurant to go to. We didn't know the area but we were driving by this place so we stopped. It was the best stop we ever made! EVERYTHING was EXCELLENT! I was catching up with a friend on a Friday night. She picked Mi Tradicion for dinner. It seems she is a regular there. I arrived first and was greeted warmly and quickly. I was seated at a booth in the bar area. The bartender suggested I get the specialty margarita. I always say yes to what the professionals suggest. They know best. Chips and salsa were delivered to the table. We added an order of guac and an order of queso. Neither knocked my socks off. We enjoyed our beverages and a chance to catch up. Our server timed everything to perfection. We never felt rushed. Our dinners arrived still hot. I was happy with the evening. I loved the ambiance of Mi Tradicion. Great place! Looks small but this place is huge! They were slammed at 3pm but the waitress/bartender/hostess was awesome. She knew her stuff and the order was right and she was quick for the drinks. Most important part! Yummy margaritas and everything was priced decently. The outside patio was a real treat. We ordered from Mi Tradicion this weekend by using DoorDash. We chose the relaxed option for delivery and it still came in within an hour or so after ordering, so kudos for that. We were planning to order the mole poblano based on several positive recommendations here (and also we love mole dishes) but we couldn't find it on the menu :(. So we got the mole enchiladas instead. They were very good, although I wish we had asked for more mole sauce. We also got the pollo a Diablo, which, as it should be, had a good amount of spice to it. Had a terrific lunch at Mi Tradicion in Gahanna yesterday. Ordered the Lunch Chimichangas (Beef Tips) and was not disappointed at all. The flour tortillas were crisp where they needed to be. The beef tips were seasoned perfectly and the cheese sauce was amazing. It seems like some places have problems cooking rice but that was not the case here. The rice was cooked beautifully and seemed to have a bit of a buttery texture/flavor to it. The beans were not standout, but what you would expect at a Mexican restaurant and they were good. This plate also comes with a guacamole salad, which I opted out of for personal preference. Also, you do get a basket of tortilla chips and salsa when you're first seated. Also ordered a taco on the side, but failed to take a picture. It was possibly one of the best tacos, if not the best, I've had. The shell is thin and holds up to the generous and well seasoned ground beef and holds together when you bite through it. Nothing bothers me more than a taco that falls apart when you bite into it and creates a mess. The crisp lettuce and soft diced tomato were there as expected and were fresh. The cheese! Oh, the cheese! So fresh, so soft and so plentiful! While you're at it, you may as well treat yourself to a frozen Margarita. It won't disappoint you either, I promise. read more

I love this place, and have never had a bad meal here. It's really tough for me to try anything else, because I love the enchiladas. They also have amazing shrimp! This time I got the dinner combo. You get to pick 1-3 items and it comes w/ cheesy beans and rice. Also, chips and salsa. This is a good option, because you have several options of items you can mix and match. I just chose to go with 3 of the same item. It didn't come with any toppings though, like lettuce, tomato or sour cream. My only complaint. You can now order online- which is awesome!! Haven't been here for a long time. My daughter and I had dinner here the other night . I always liked the colorful chairs and tables , gives you the feeling of being in Mexico. They have a good size patio which could use a few plants to dress it up alittle . The food and service was good . I had the chimichanga which seems to be what I always order in a Mexican restaurant. My daughter had the el poblano which was a large potion , enough to take home some . The large pepper could of been cut into smaller slices to make it easier to eat . The lunch meals run about $10 on average. Very friendly and attentive service. What really sets this restaurant apart is the decor. I ordered a soft ground beef taco with rice and beans. I also ordered a side of chilli and a beef taco. When delivery arrived food was still mildly warm. Came swiftly. The chili gave me vibes of more alesss ground beef with beans mixed together in red sauce.. So more of a burrito filler.. Which I can def do myself. The taco was good. The shell tasted fresh. They were not chimpsy on the amount of meat. I really have no complaints. After eating that I am stuffed. I will heat up my burrito later. But I have positive thoughts on it. read more

We went to Mi Tradicion right at 5 pm tonight. Our usual Friday night dinner date at one of our local favorites. We were seated right away, got the waitress' attention who took our drink orders quickly. Our drinks came out - big mugs of soda - as well as chips and salsa (complimentary). The menu is relatively large and often have trouble finding what I want. When we first started going there, I ordered the grilled chicken salad thinking that and a taco salad would be all they had. AND THEN I found the Ensalada Santa Fe - chicken and steak and avocado and tomatoes and all sorts of wonderful goodness. Very little shredded iceberg lettuce - but that's FIND. Hubby got the chicken fajita platter which comes with a hot platter of chicken, peppers, etc., a plate with lettuce, beans, rice, guacamole and sour cream, and the fajita shells. He had more chicken that would fit in the shells. GOOD DEAL. We had a bit of a problem as they wrap the bill wrong through the credit card machine. Hopefully it was corrected after we pointed it out. The bill, even then, seemed high - BECAUSE - they are now charging $3.50 a piece for soda. INSANE. I love splurging on a Diet Pepsi or Coke - but $3.50 is just over the top. While we'll continue to eat there, I'll be a tap water girl from here on out! read more

Me and my husband both ordered the "huge burrito" as advertised on the menu and received a a burrito more like the size of a small quesadilla for $10.29 with a sad salad on the side.
