Received THE WORST SERVICE I have ever received at Mi Rancho or any restaurant yesterday night. I normally recommend them to everyone but after the way we were treated tonight, I will never be going back and never recommend them to anyone. **** Yesterday was my sons second birthday and we decided to go to Mi Rancho as our family loves Mi Rancho and always orders take out. This was the first time we've been inside the restaurant, eating at a table in a very long time and it was a huge disappointment. The beans were watery and looked like literal shit when put on the tortillas. I ordered my meal without pico because I absolutely hate it and as someone that hates pico, I can say that it changes the taste of the entire plate if it touches the other food. My son ate like 3 bites of his burrito all of which he spit out on the table. It was insinuated by Blanca that we were trying to get a free meal as she said "I know what you're trying to do. Next time save your time and dont come in." Which we will gladly do as we see regular customers and have never been treated this way. My SO didnt even take a bite of his food and neither did I. I would have gladly paid for my sons meal if we weren't so insulted, embarrassed and disappointed about the server accusing us of trying to get free meals when no one even ate anything. We won't be coming back after years of being customers. As someone that has previously worked at Mi Rancho, I can guarantee that the beans that were served tonight are not the usual beans. Accusing customers of trying to get a free meal when nothing was even eaten is totally inappropriate and unprofessional. Like I said, I will never come back and I will never recommend Mi Rancho to anyone ever again. The quality of food and service has gone downhill, hopefully wont reach rock bottom but we wont be returning to experience that. read more

Mi Rancho has your standard fare for a Mexican Restaurant. I LOVE Mexican food and lived in MX for two years, so I know a bit about what makes it good. Mi Rancho is pretty good. Not necessarily authentic Mexican, but the food that American's are used to, slathered with plenty of cheese. If you're looking to curb your Mexican Food cravings, this will do it. read more

When my husband and I moved here in October of 2011 I was just floored by the food. Growing up with authentic Mexican food I craved a place that could make food like my abuelita, and I thought I'd found it. I'd traveled and have eaten at many 'authentic' Mexican restaurants and no one has ever come close. That was until my first dining experience in 2011. It was so good and reminded me of my abuelita that I cried ... Might have been the pregnancy hormones ... But I cried. However, the last 4 times my husband and I have gone, I have not been impressed. Last night it was just ... Mediocre. Nothing spectacular about it. It honestly tasted like anything I could've gotten from Taco Bell. The beans were canned, the tortilla's were store bought ... Which is fine, but they were cheap store bought and rubbery. And the carnitas were so drenched in grease I could drink it. The rice was OK, nothing spectacular about it. And we ate it without complaint because we were hungry. But, floored I was not. I've even had better margaritas, to be honest ... Not terrible, but not " oh, the best drinks ever". I enjoyed the fried ice cream, though. Not sure what happened to you guys. Maybe you got a new chef? But, authentic you are not anymore. Just average. Sad! It's like when you guys got your interior made over, your food got a made under :( And why the heck isn't there horchata? It's really not that hard to make. What a disappointment this restaurant has become. My wife and I were initially delighted to find a Mexican restaurant in Bemidji that was even close to authentic and immediately became regular customers. As transplants from California we know real Mexican food when we see it, and Mi Rancho is pretty close, given our location here in the north of Minnesota. After a year of only great experiences we just had the worst meal of our lives yesterday at Mi Rancho. We arrived at the peak of lunch service and ordered guacamole, carnitas nachos, and chicken tacos. When the guacamole arrived it looked great, but the taste of onions and "sour" was overpowering. So much so that my wife had the good sense to spit out her single mouth full. I persevered not really believing that it was as bad as my mouth was telling me it was. Salt, onions, and sour avocados is no way to make guacamole. The nachos here are usually great, but this time the pork was incredibly salty; we had the impression that it had been salted by three different cooks, really vile. The tomatoes on the nachos tasted of metal, the really bad taste they get just before turning to compost. Again the nachos featured the horrible guacamole described above. Chicken tacos featured dry and salty chicken meat served on cold flower tortillas. Worst meal ever, HOWEVER, to be fair I have to say that the service staff was outstanding as always. Worst food and best service, what a sad combination. This single experience was so bad that it more than cancels out our year of good meals. We will not be returning. read more

Very busy restaurant on the Sunday before Memorial Day, but the staff did an excellent job taking care of us. Wife and I shared the Parradillia, which was excellent and came much faster than we were expecting given the number of people there. Other than our meal, the menu seems to be standard Tex-Mex fare, but if it's all as well done as ours it would quickly become a favorite. A little off the beaten track- assuming Bemidji has a beaten track, but well worth the extra 5 minute drive. read more

Amazingly good authentic Mexican food so far north! The decor is great and the servers are fast and friendly (and appreciated good natured attempts at Spanish.). The margaritas were strong and tasty. And the food was so good that we all wound up sharing so that we could taste everything. One weird thing... When the server asked where we were from we told him Philadelphia. He crinkled his nose and said "really?" In a disapproving tone. Way to insult your guests before taking drink orders. He rebounded later though. read more

I spend a month in the Bemidji area every summer and eat at Mi Rancho every change I get! Service is consistently excellent, have never had to wait. Chips are fresh and warm and the salsa is delicious. This is a popular place with my friends as well and we never tire if eating here which is not normal for me :) I always get the same dish - I know that's weird but I love it so much. I am a huge fan of chile rellenos - would eat them every day if I could. Anway - Mi Rancho has THE BEST chille rellenos ever. Huge chili, stuffed with cheese cooked to perfection every time. Highly recommend! Not the premade deep fried crapola usually served a Mexican places. Very nice atmosphere, family friendly - highly recommend! read more

Mi Rancho is a food fiesta in an otherwise bleak culinary city. The menu is pretty standard Mex-American fare with enchilada platters, burritos, fajitas and the like. On a recent rip to take kids to camp, we had an assortment of enchiladas and fajitas. All were very tasty and better than any of the chain restaurants (Don Pablos, Chevys, etc.). The complimentary chips served before the meal were fresh, flavorful and just right level of crispness. Next time we're in Bemidji we will definitely stop by again. read more

I'm pretty sure they have a policy to address all males as "amigo" and all females as "senorita," and when you say how many are in your party, to repeat the number in Spanish. Nothing wrong with that, it's just funny! The service was good, and the food was prepared very quickly. Unfortunately, the food quality wasn't the best. I had a grilled steak burrito (Burrito Mexicano), and the meat was... strange. It reminded me of the meat that you find in canned beef stew. Regular customer here (once every other week). Overall really great food & atmosphere. There is a server or two that are not as good at their job as the others so your experience may vary. Never had a problem with incorrect food, but like I said, some servers rarely check on you for your drinks or how your food is. Definitely would recommend, probably the best Mexican food in a 100 mile radius. read more

OK, maybe this exact restaurant would be considered average in Southern California, but here in the northland if you're hungry for Mexican and a decor that lifts your mood and a friendly staff, then Mi Rancho is a great place. I have never had a bad meal here, nor have I ever received poor service. My family eats here at least once a month and almost all the servers know us and show their appreciation, and that goes a long way for us to alway want to come back. read more

I've ate here twice and the servers are extremely rude and unwelcoming. Second time eating here with my family and when we got home we all got sick with nausea and diarrhea. I wouldn't suggest eating here unless you want rude waitresses and the shits. Also the waitress got our order wrong and had bad attitude. read more

There are few restaurants that are as good as this one. The food is amazing for Bemidji, it's the best restaurant in town! The food is better than just about all other Mexican restaurants I have ever been to. The service is always excellent as is the food. I eat here once a week usually and have NEVER been disappointed with the food or the service! The food reminds me of SoCal style of Mexican food it's a good thing to warm you up during the cold Minnesota winters. Decent food and friendly service. Wouldn't mind seeing better quality ingredients. My steak quesadilla was tasty and crispy which was awesome. The steak was too thinly sliced and basically disappeared amidst everything else. The real downer was the margaritas. Three of us had them at our table and the server brought them out in under five minutes. Was disappointed that it was a slushy premade version of a margarita. Extremely fast (I have never had service this fast at a sit down restaurant) and friendly service. We were seated quickly and greeted by a server with great salsa and chips. We ordered off the lunch menu and main menu. The enchiladas and burritos were fantastic. Mi Rancho is a pretty standard non-chain Mexican place, but that's usually what I look for in Mexican restaurants. The chips and salsa are tasty and the combination plates are plentiful. The food is ready extremely fast -- it's easy to be in and out of there within a half hour. read more

Growing up in Tucson and in Colorado, I need Mexican food in order so survive. And I get despondent when I accidentally consume mediocre or terrible Mexican food, which is one of the reasons I left New York City after too many years. So, I was skeptical at first but absolutely delighted when my sister, mother, and I were served delicious, healthy and beautiful enchiladas, taquitos, and grilled chicken salad at Mi Rancho.
