We came in & were asked if we were there for the music. Our faces must have reflected confusion as that was followed by "Did you know there's music tonight?" We, in fact, did not know & answered such. We were seated immediately with a run down on the gent that would be taking the stage shortly & a run down on how the blue oyster came to be... because they grow blue oyster mushrooms. Speaking of, the blue oyster mushroom app is NOT to be missed. I'd come back for that alone. As a matter of fact, I tried to today on the way home but they're closed Sun. Service was friendly & leisurely. We both ordered cocktails & both agreed that we wouldn't again. $8 was a reasonable price & they did use decent liquor in them. They just weren't really our kind of drinks, a bit too sweet & colorful for our bitter tastebuds. As I mentioned, the mushroom app was FANTASTIC & I'd highly recommend it. I opted for the Cajun Pasta - very good, creamy, cheesy sauce - tho very Norwegian spice level. I'll call it Norw-ajun vs Cajun. The hubs had the fried rice. It was a solid dish. We were overly full with the 2 dishes and an app. We agreed that next time we would order the app & 1 dish to split, no cocktails - or at least not any off the featured menu. Good food, easy downtown location on the second floor of a historic building. The appetizers we ordered were delicious - Chicken Parmesan soup, Caesar salad, Moo Ping. The salmon was decent, if a little overcooked. Service was very friendly, but slow. I'm not sure if they're understaffed, but it definitely took some waiting to take orders & get us food. I decided to give Blue Oyster a try while shopping. It was midday and the place wasn't very busy, only a few tables taken. It is a large area with big windows to look out. The tables are nicely spaced and there are a few booths, as well as bar seating. I was greeted and seated right away and the server was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the Moo Ping pork skewers to eat in and a chef salad to go. The skewers were good, I would eat those again, but the rice was REALLY sticky (it said it was served with sticky rice). Hard to separate. It was served with a cup of Thai salsa that was okay. The chef salad was to die for. It came in one of those big styrofoam carry out containers and filled it. The cucumbers and tomatoes were extremely fresh and flavorful. It also had a lot of ham and turkey slices, more than you get at a lot of places. I did not try their dressing, I put some on later when I ate it at home. Overall, I was happy with the experience and will return to try something else on the menu and get another chef salad to take home. read more

If your looking for good food or a great dining experience there are much better options in town. This is the second time I've eaten here and I'm not sure what's up with the menu, the cook, or where they source their meat from. The first time I got the New York steak with rice dinner. I remember even then the steak was tough, chewy and over cooked. The rice was crunchy. I decided to give this place a second chance because it had just opened around my first visit. This time I decided to try the Moo ping and the Asian slaw. The moo ping comes with sticky rice. So sticky I had to use a knife to cut it, and was also crispy. Like it's not cooked all the way. The pork was so fatty- too chewy I couldn't even get it off the skewers it's served on. The meal I had tonight had no flavor besides a dip that tasted rancid. Like it was old. The Asian slaw is literally just thinly sliced cabbage with mayo on it. I had asked about the teriyaki tots listed on the menu thinking it was like a seasoning on the tots the server informed me it's just tater tots with teriyaki dipping sauce so I passed on that. It's advertised more as an upscale place however it is loud and seems more like a sports bar atmosphere. Very loud inside. I did end up ordering a water tonight because their drinks the last time I was there are too strong. While many prefer that I would like to enjoy the flavor of the drink and not just taste alcohol especially with how the drink menu describes the drinks. I really really recommend finding a different place for them to get their meat or buy better cuts of meat because this is not it. With this place being considered "Asian flair" I think soy sauce should also be on the tables. That might have made the rice edible. read more
