Mi Ranchito was solid. I ended up getting some shrimp drenched in this ridiculous sauce that had absolutely no business being that good. Everything was messy in the best way possible, and somehow the plate was gone before I even realized it. Ace, meanwhile, was acting like the little brother nobody wanted. Constantly in the way, hovering over the food, trying to steal sustenance every five seconds, and generally creating obstacles out of thin air. Love this restaurant - one of my go-to's for Mexican food in St. Louis. Very nice service and ambiance inside. It's a pretty big space so there are lots of tables to sit inside and parking is easy in the lot in front. I've tried multiple food items here and I feel like you can't go wrong with anything from here - great portions and delicious food. The cooks in the kitchen are authentic chefs. I have had great food, and it is definitely the best. Great atmosphere. Parking depends on the day of the week and time. The little short Mexican guy is the manager, and is the rudest person in the building. Twice I have had a problem with him, actually three times. One time I was sitting inside with My Mother and Aunt and he came over as that's what we wanted to order. I told him exactly what it said and he repeatedly reread it like I was saying it wrong. I know how to read very well and I know how to speak English very well and I asked him did he have an attitude and he looked at me with that fake smile in a very passive aggressive tone and said no do you? The second time I had a pick up order and he was rude over the phone. This third time was the last straw. I ordered food on a Friday and they didn't put the top all the way on the pan that the food comes in and it spilled out all over the Bag. I literally had to pick the food up and put it back in the pan so I just threw it away. I called them and told them I even had proof if they wanted to see it but they didn't ask for it and they told me they would give me a coupon for the food. I came back the next day to try to pick up the food and I asked for a extra cup of queso because that's what I ordered with my nachos and they told me I had to pay six dollars for it regardless if they messed the food up or not. I went inside to try to speak with the lady who gave me the coupon in the first place, and apparently the guy already said something about me so she didn't even look me in my eyes or addressed me when I walked inside. she was rude as well explaining to me that it didn't matter if they messed the food up and I still had to pay six dollars for a small cup of cheese. When I say this cup of cheese is small, I promise it is very small. I've been going to this place for at least 13 years when no one was going there. I've never had a problem with any of the ladies. I've only had a problem with the short guy you'll know who I'm talking about because he's very short and also very passive aggressive all the time unless he's just like that to black customers, which I wouldn't be surprised at all if that was the case. The food is usually decent, but the people can be rude at times and it will absolutely ruined the food for you. It automatically makes you think that they did something to it due to the way that they feel about you clearly shown by the way that they speak to you. To all of MY people, they may not do it this time, but I promise you they will show their true colors at some point. I've seen ants crawling around the corners of the wall and when I brought it to their attention, they said they will fix it. I don't know if they ever did, but that was years ago. I only added that in because Yelp I asked about the ambiance. Either way, go to a black owned restaurant where you're appreciated not tolerated. These people do not care about you. It seems like they hate their job. Especially the pipsqueak. He's got short Man syndrome clearly. He's always trying to make his attitude bigger than his physique. Sidenote: I've always loved the food. This was my first time having an issue with the food. This place is located in SW corner of Kingsland and Vernon with a lot of parking around. It is a pretty big restaurant with tvs and lots of seats. We got take out but they still gave us a big bag of free chips (see photo) and salsa. Salsa was not spicy. The grilled chicken salad was good but. Nothing special. Not sure if the chicken had much seasoning. Camelot's fried tacos were very good. Overall 3.5 stars. 3 stars for the salad and 4 for the tacos. If you want authentic Mexican food then this is the place to come. We came here on a Friday night and it was packed. We were told 35 minutes but in reality we waited 45 minutes. We were sat and our waitress approached our table very polite and took our drink orders. I ordered a Arnold palmer and my date ordered a margarita. We settled on a taco salad, side dish od Spanish rice, and a chicken California burrito. The food was good and came out in a timely manner. The place was packed so we didn't stay long after eating but if you're looking for some authentic Mexican food this is the place. The staff is always friendly as well. I haven't been back here for quite sometimes, but the food and the service at my recent visit were just as good as I remembered. We came in late on Friday night. Just like old times! Met up with some former colleagues turned friends for a get together at our old stomping grounds of Mi Ranchito. My friend and I were the first to arrive. We were greeted promptly and given waters, chips, and salsa with individual containers. The salsa was just like I remember- a delicate balance of mild with the smallest hint of a kick, but not overpowering. The chips were hot and fresh, which always makes for a good combo. The server came back a couple times to see if we were ready but we insisted we'd wait until the rest of our party arrived. We decided to get a pitcher of regular margaritas, which really hit the spot. This ended up being the most budget friendly for everyone and even after splitting it four ways, we had plenty left over. I decided to get the fajita texicana, which is a mixture of shrimp, chicken, and beef. Imo, it's the best way to go, especially if you're anything like me and can't decide between the other combos. The food came out even better than expected. The meat was super tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The first bite instantly reminded of the first time I came here and kept coming back. Pros: The food was very good. Would have appreciated the quesadilla to be sliced to offer easier eating, but not that bad. Cons: The booths are very small. They'd be tight for 2 skinny people on a single bench, but make one of those on the bigger side and one will be left sitting on the edge of the bench and only eating with one arm to avoid elbow fighting with the other person. The 5 stars is for food only.. the service is rushed and at times non existent with language barrier but the food just makes up for it. The parking lot was so busy ; just shows how popular this place is. The prices are reasonable and drink specials are plenty hence the popularity. Ambiance is really nice with lots of wall art - it's spacious and quite loud. I had the spinach burrito which was stuffed with sautéed spinach, onions and tomatoes topped with cheese sauce- finished every bit of it. DH had a shrimp in hot sauce ( forget the name!)- it came with rice and beans- yum. Everyone got their own salsa bowl so you could mix in as much hot sauce in it ( provided at the table) Jalapeño margarita was decent. Will be back to try other items on the extensive menu. read more

Food selection is just about any type of Mexican food you would like. Presentation is nice, clean and hot in temperature. Not overly spicy but definitely flavorful. The cost is affordable, atmosphere is festive, margaritas are some of the best, especially the frozen ones, my go to are the original with salt. Service is excellent, no waiting for more drinks or extras, they are on top of the service provided. I wish they had another location closer to my area in West County. They bring out some chips and salsa, which we really enjoyed. I especially liked the salsa (it wasn't spicy), which was a nice addition with the chips. We ordered the Guadalajara special, the steak fajitas, and the carnitas plate. As you can see, the portions are very large and the prices are quite reasonable as well. The food was quickly brought out to us and we thoroughly enjoyed all of our plates. I especially liked the flavor of the fajitas and the nice caramelization of the peppers and onions in the dish. The restaurant appears to be very family friendly as well-- there were a number of large groups seated and having a good time. Don't go here! I went into the restaurant and the staff forgot to provide my salsa. I called and informed the restaurant and was told to come back to retrieve the salsa. Upon arrival I was informed rudely by the staff that I needed to bring ALL my food to get the salsa that the restaurant provides in ALL orders.
