I went to school in SoCal and had Mexican roomates to all the good spots. Since I've been back I've been lookin for a place to give me that same level of quality and this is the place. The cashier was super nice, I got the pineapple august Fresca and I love an auga Fresca. I also got the quesa birria tacos and I have not had this flavor in awhile. It was so amazing and I would have stayed to eat but it was near closing but the shop was clean and cute. You want real tacos? Go here fr.

I love Locoz Tacoz tacos but my newest obsession is their breakfast burrito! The potato and cheese taco wrapped then encased in a blanket of cheese is as heavenly as it sounds!!
Loved the food, the quesabirria was delicious and I'm surprised I haven't tried them earlier. They were a tad expensive for me but I'd definitely come again. Service was quick and seemed busy when I went for lunch. Great spot for a casual date. The agua fresca was also delicious.
I finally checked out Locoz for the first time with a friend group. This place offers a quaint seating area and is able to seat small parties of 4 or less. They offer a condensed menu of basic Mexican and Tex Mex foods to choose from such as tacos, sopes, tortas, loaded fries, and breakfast burritos (this is a newly announced menu item). I was disappointed that they don't offer smaller portion sizes for the menu items since the items were way too much food, but on the plus side the amount of food is a good price and enough to share with another person. I tried their sopes and they were decent, it definitely didn't need as much lettuce on top as they gave me and it definitely packed some flavor.
We went in to Locoz Tacoz expecting tasty, authentic Mexican street food in a charming little spot, and that's exactly what we got. My Quesabirria were delicious- tender meat, lots of cheese, onions, cilantro, and a nice crunchy shell. The staff were all super friendly and our food was ready fast. They don't have lots of seating, but as soon as a table left a worker was there right away to clear it for the next customers. Only slight complaint would be that the prices are a bit high for a counter-service place, but they aren't crazy enough to stop us from wanting to come back.
This place offers a fast casual dining experience with moderate prices. I ordered the burrito with Al Pastor meat and a side of fries. I felt that burrito was a good weight and a more bang for your buck option but it was lacking on flavor. My opinion is that the burrito was made with what tasted like Great Value branded ingredients and could be something an Irish dive bar could also serve. I was left full but disappointed. The food looks great, feels like a good value, but is lacking on the flavor. I could hardly taste the meat. I think they put a lot of rice in the burrito which watered down a lot of the al pastor flavor. I'm not discouraged from coming back and trying something else. The fries were seasoned well but tasted like they were re-fried rather than freshly made.

The meat was tender and juicy, and everything was super satisfying. Also, don't sleep on the cheesy fries... absolutely delicious! Great spot for a quick, flavorful bite.
This place has great tacos. I tried their birria tacos and I've been thinking about them since. The menu is simple, the staff are all very nice, and seating is well spaced and easy to find after ordering. It's definitely a casual bite, but that's why I like it; easy to go to with friends and has great food.
Back again to try the margaritas and quesabirria. the birria tacos themselves were flavorful and the consommé was amazing! It was thicker than I've had before which I liked because it stuck to the taco after dipping. The margaritas are from a premade bottle which was disappointing for $11!

Turnovers was quick but the meat for me lacked the robust flavors. We ordered birria taco , 2 street tacos - al pastor , the mixed with chorizo and steak and carnitas. They also offered 3-4 salsas on the side which were flavorful and some spicy! Portion size was good. If in the area and want a quick meal it's ok but not if you are craving for some good rich flavored tacos which is why I took off a star. Personally prefer el milagro and el jarracho for superrior birria and consume.

Stopped by Locoz Tacoz, a very no frills, authentic Mexican counter spot. Tried a mix: quesabirria, four street tacos (asada, pastor, carnitas, campechano), a fish taco, plus chips and guac. The quesabirria is the standout, really flavorful and easily their best menu item. The rest of the tacos were solid, just didn't really separate themselves. Chips and guacamole were a letdown. For the price I was hoping for something fresher. Also no cups for water, so you're either bringing one or buying a drink. Prices feel a little high for what you get, but overall still a solid stop. read more

Pretty good! The agua Fresca was delicious! I got 3 tacos - the carne asada and Al pastor were delicious. The carnita was good but a little bland. The street corn was a little watery but had good flavor. The workers were extremely nice and our service was quick! Parking is easy with the lot in the back or across the street. It's very casual on the inside but clean! read more
First time here. Ordered to go. They were quick in getting my order ready. The street tacos are quite good! The hot sauces that are available all have quite a bit of zing and heat, which is good in my book. Just be cautious if you're not big on spice/heat. It a mostly a fast dining type experience in the sense that the dining area isn't very large. I will be back to try more items, maybe a burrito or quesadilla. read more

I highly recommend you check out Locoz Tacoz if you haven't already! I recently went for lunch and had three street tacos (pollo, asada, and birria), esquites, and a chicken rice bowl with a watermelon agua fresca. I was expecting everything to be great, but it was even better than expected. I couldn't decide which type of taco I enjoyed more. The street corn was extremely fresh. The employees were so kind and patient. They greeted and said thank you to every guest as they left. I will be back very soon! read more
The Quesabirria tacos are a must!!! A MUST. The way it was packed with meat, it's so fulfilling and packed with so much flavor. Every bite was so juicy. My friends said the tacos were really good too. Next time I get an esquite, i might ask for extra mayo bc it wasn't as creamy as I personally like. The staff was so friendly, my boyfriend bought a shirt off of them and they even threw in some free stickers for us. so sweet of them! The seating is pretty decent for parties of 5 or less! The service was pretty fast too, we didn't wait more than 10 minutes for our food to come out. I will definetly be back. read more

this is my second time here and these are still the best tacos i have ever had. highly recommend the pastor street tacos. as i took my first bite today, i closed my eyes and relished in the deliciousness as all sound and time stopped around me. the service is great and the cashier who took our order was very patient and answered all of our questions. the interior is very vibrant and feels a bit like your classic american interior. read more
WOULD recommend (tacos). Stopped by for an event for a quick bite. Upon entry, this spot seemed pretty chill, the lady at the register was very welcoming. Definitely felt like sitting inside and eating but I give better reviews when I eat in my car. Ordered 3 street tacos to-go, 1 pollo, 1 asada, 1 tinga (mixture of chorizo, chicken, onions, etc). Just from the look of the tacos, they seemed to be pretty authentic. When tasting the pollo taco, the only thing I could complain about was the texture of chicken. Tender at first bit but near the end of bite, ran into some hardness. Not saying the chicken is undercooked at all though. Next was the asada, which had the most flavor out of the three, chef's kisses for that one. Last one was the tinga, which was alright. The chorizo was the star of the show, still not as much flavor as the asada but still a very decent taco. (just disclaimer: I am not a taco expert by any means, I just go by what I taste) Overall, I would comeback, they are local, had good service, and showed authenticity nonetheless, with food that I would give 7/10 overall. I've been back twice this week! First time: street taco special (2 tacos with mexi fries) - I chose Tinga (chicken/chorizo) as my meat. The fries were absolutely to die for. I think next time I'll try the Gringo tacos since I prefer a flour tortilla. Spent about $14 with tip. Second time: Quesabirria tacos (3) with a sid for chips & queso. - best thing I've gotten! The meat was tender, consume was perfect. Spent $24 with tip. Service: both times everyone was so kind! Food was out within 5 mins each time. I went around 5pm on both days. It's a counter service place so it's very casual. A decent amount of seating options, tables were clean and open! I personally like the mild salsa the best (had the best flavor for me)! Hot is a close second, habanero was a bit too spicy for me personally. You have to make this your next spot! Plus, you can't go wrong supporting a small family owned business! read more

The restaurant was very clean and the staff was friendly. The food was great but could have used a bit more flavor or seasoning. I had the Birria Tacos, which were pretty good but on the bland side. It was the same with the street corn - fresh ingredients, very good, but just short of being as flavorful as it could have been. I'll definitely be back to try other items. read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch with some coworkers and was super impressed! Service was fast, and the vibe leans more diner than trendy -- which totally works for a fast-casual spot. The lunch specials were very reasonably priced and definitely filling. The al pastor was easily some of the best I've ever had -- I'd come back for those tacos alone. Next time, I'll probably swap the fries for elote or esquite. Will be back, for sure! read more
I have been wandering all over STL looking for good tasting and reasonably priced tacos and found them here at Locoz Tacos. Not only did I find delicious tacos, but also stumbled across their loaded fries. The tongue tacos were so meaty they could probably bench press a small car and the fish tacos were tasty. The Locoz Fries are topped with cheese sauce and asada. Other menu items include torta, burrito, and quesadilla. In the heart of Maplewood. This place gives dive but great atmosphere. Easy ordering with a minor in eyesight making it simple to see what you want . Customer service was good, the host was pleasant. The wait for food was not too long, but everything is made to order so I'll take it ! I order the chicken quesadillas with Mexi fries and it was so amazing! The chicken was cooked to perfection and the fires were crisp and not soggy even with a good amount of cheese sauce. Filling is an understatement. My friend and I stopped by Locoz Tacoz on a weekday midday for lunch. She ordered the two tacos special which came with fries, and I ordered the quesabirria tacos. There is a good amount of seating inside, and their menu is very extensive. However, you cannot order single tacos (they come in orders of 3), and if you want only 2 you pretty much need to get the 2 tacos deal with fries. Our food came out pretty quickly and we were able to also try the four salsas they had at the counter. They don't have any cups for water available and had only bottled water for purchase when we went, so either bring your own water or get a fountain drink/agua fresca if you're looking for a beverage. The tacos and consome were quite filling and my friend enjoyed her order as well. She asked for the cheese sauce on the side, which we agreed was a good choice as the cheese appeared to harden pretty quickly and was very thick, which would've made the fries soggy. The counter salsas were a nice touch but I felt like most of them were too salty for my taste. I paid around $17 after tax for my quesabirria tacos. Overall, had a good experience and the staff were very friendly-- we hope to be back sometime to try the other options on the menu! read more

So.freaking.good! I first heard of Locoz Tacoz when they were located next door to Amsterdam Tavern a few years back. They had the best shrimp tacos I've ever had and that's what kept me coming back for more. Today was my first day visiting them since they had a permanent spot, and thankfully, everything is still the same. When I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the cashier and she was nice to answer any questions I had. They still had the 3 tacos for whatever price and even let me customize them to get the shrimp and cilantro only. Onions upset my stomach but rest assured, even without them, the shrimp still have tons of flavor. As an addition, I got some chips with guacamole and a peach/ mango margarita all to go. I'll be the first to admit, I didn't even wait to get home to have the first bite but as soon as I did, it tasted just like I remembered: fresh, flavorful, and mm mmm good! The marg was refreshing and had a generous pour of tequila but was well mixed with the peach and mango. The chips and guacamole were good but the guac was a wee bit bland. All in all, I can't wait to come back and get some more! read more
