Beef enchalada, rice and beans. (Taco not pictured)

I ordered the #6, beef enchalada, taco, rice and beans for take out. Service was fast, too fast. The interesting thing is that the flavors weren't that predictable, usual mexican restaurant taste. But unfortunately, it just wasn't that good, actually not appetizing. I didn't finish it. My taco had a huge glob of mozerella in it, and I really just got the impression it was thrown together without a lot of care. I wouldn't go again.

My wife and I were visiting family nearby and brother-in-law knew I favored Mexican. He said there was a nearby place that always seemed to have a full parking lot, weekdays or weekends. We arrived around 6:30 PM on a Thursday evening. Sure enough the parking lot was almost full but we managed to grab one of the few remaining spots. Our party of four were seated immediately and seconds later hot chips and salsa arrived with the waitress and she took our drink order, along with an order of queso blanco, white cheese. I also requested hot salsa. Some places give you their regular salsa and a bottle of extra sauce to mix yourself. Nope, they brought a bowl of salsa with a nice kick. A large menu and full bar was impressive. Our family also ran into several families from their town and church. He asked what was good here and they all answered "Everything!" They decided on a Taco Salad for her and Burrito plate for him. My wife and I decided to try Dinner Special for two. This included a burrito, two tacos, a chili relleno, a tamale, a chalupa, an enchilada and beans & rice. This came on 4 plates! And the price was several dollars less than two individual meals. Wow! It was more than we could handle but we sampled each item, along with some great Southern Sweet Tea. Service was great and very quick, even with a full restaurant. Definitely recommended!

Went here on a trip with the hubs to ride the "Back of the Dragon" from Marion, VA to Tazewell, VA along the Appalachian mountains. We came back to Marion to stay overnight before returning home to NC. They have a vast menu, so if you are not familiar with Mexican food in their authentic name, it takes you a few minutes to decide what you want. They also have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options! There is something for everyone to chose. I ordered the 2 ground beef hard-shell tacos plate with rice and beans and a pineapple soda. The hubs ordered the fried quesadilla w/ham, beef and pork and a DR PEPPER! A note: there was a family birthday table (I assume) of maybe 20 guest next to us and despite that going on, the service was excellent and we received our food and refilled drinks quickly. I would recommend all my riding buddies going to the Back of the Dragon to stop here for delicious and affordable food (compared to what good food and decent portions we received).

Typical Mexican food. Staff was friendly and food arrived lightning fast. Very reasonably priced. Portions were I the small side.

It was okay. Portions were less than other Mexican restaurants and the flavor was average.

We will not be back to this place.... My bf ordered beef…read morenachos and a order of cheese sauce with chips. I ordered a burrito with shrimp, octopus, a whole poblano, avocado, shredded cheese all inside the burrito. I also asked for a lot of limes on the side. They came out after we took our order to go so he could check on it because he asked me numerous times about the cheese I wanted. I had said I do not want anything on top of my burrito and hate the liquid cheese. The person who made my burrito used the liquid cheese, similar to nacho cheese consistency on top. No shredded cheese inside. So they didn't give my bf his cheese sauce he paid for. My burrito was nasty. They didn't put a whole poblano, the first half of the burrito had a few small pieces of poblano, barely any octopus, no shredded cheese inside, they didn't give me any limes. I HATE this crap cheese sauce that "mexican" food places use in Tennessee. Legit Mexican food places don't use this fake liquid cheese. My bf said his nachos were good. Problem is.. I was on the toilet all night because of this cheese. I say this because it was the same cheese they put on his nachos and... he was sick to his stomach for the rest of the night and then he had his turn on the toilet.

As we wend our way to Florida, we spend the night in Bristol for one main reason. This restaurant!…read more (The Hilton Garden Inn hits all the marks too, but as I have nothing to add I'm not updating that review.) My husband ordered five enchiladas each with a different stuffing. While delicious, unless you haven't eaten since last Thursday, who can consume so many enchiladas?! I shouldn't talk. The house special quesadilla -- always excellent -- is a lot of food. Ever resourceful, I took half back, put the chicken and peppers on a bagel and ate it for breakfast! (Note to self AND my husband: next time let's split one and maybe forego the steak and chicken. Chorizo and shrimp?!) Moving on, the salsa bar is great with smooth, chunky, mild and spicy salsas. That's not counting the warm bean spread brought to the table with their thin and crisp chips. Our margaritas -- $6 each -- are not only good but pretty, topped with berries and a flower. Here it is, Monday night -- not a typical going-out day of the week -- and the place is busy with locals. Pretty good testimony to what's become one of my favorite Mexican restaurants.
