We ordered take out. $40+ and the MOST disappointing experience with them to date. Ordered an appetizer but did not get it. The other 2 orders were incorrect. The worst part of our last experience with Mi Pueblo - the food. Pizza and Mexican are the kind of eats that, for the most part, are tough to make so badly that you just throw them away - which we did. I try to provide positive notes in any review that I am willing to spend time to write. We were in the area and starving, so when we noticed this place, we decided to stop and eat there. The place was maybe 30% occupied ar best, and yet we waited behind another couple and eventually with another behind us for quite a while. I can't kill them on that, though, because everyone is having trouble finding staff these days, so maybe thats why. From what i witnessed, it was likely due to a lack of proper management and organization. But like I said, maybe they can't get adequate staff. The decor is cool. And i mean nothing. No table settings, no water, drinks, chips, nothing. Someone did finally stop to ask if we'd been helped yet and kindly brought us menus while explaining the restaurant week specials. She took our drink order and shuffled off, returning with chips & and salsa, which were excellent, probably the best I've had here in the Wayne. When she came back with the drinks, we reminded her that we had no place settings and shortly there after, she dropped a pair of forks on the table as she flew by. We had to flag someone down to ask for napkins. Bizzar. The margherita was dreadfully reminiscent of the ones we made at the house parties back in high-school with the convenience store mix and cheap tequila. Something you would expect if you ordered a margherita at a diner but certainly not up to "Mexican restaurant" caliber standards. As for the food, sadly, we were not impressed at all. Borderline horrified by one of the meals. Taste wise, the vegetable fajitas weren't bad, but their definition of "vegetables" is a plate full of onions and peppers, with two or three slices of mushroom. Very sad. The tacos Campechanos, on the other hand, we're terrible. My mother was not a good cook at all. Every bit of meat she ever cooked was akin to the sole of a shoe. Four made wrong; no tortillas for fajitas; plain order had all of the items under the chicken; one order not even prepared. I love the food at this place. But can no longer trust the service. We have been here for two dinners and a lunch already. I have had tacos, enchiladas, tamales and taquitos. Everything was very good with great flavor and very fresh. The chips, salsa and guacamole are good. My husband always asks for more spicy salsa and they had it. The staff is friendly and try's hard. It has not been busy and we have not had to wait on our food. The bathrooms are clean as is the restaurant. One of our lunches, two of us ate for under twenty dollars with tip. read more

Ok so i went here last weekend on a whim with my family. We all ordered something different to try and share. Wow! Very flavorful and authentic Mexican cuisine. Everything was clearly homemade from family recipes. As I like tomatillo hot salsa I was pleasantly surprised by the bold flavor theirs had. Very different than I'm used to. No issues with service although our waitress did seem to be covering quite a few tables. Prices are on par with other joints in town. I went back yesterday to try something else and was not disappointed. I'm glad we finally have a nice sit down place in New Haven I can take my kids to. Ice tea was nothing but brown tasteless water, warm enough to melt all the ice within minutes. Asking for a replacement would only result in more of the same. I don't leave my house for various reasons, so my experience is based on the food delivered. I just moved here from Las Vegas, NV, and I grew up in Texas. When we moved here, to say I was worried you guys wouldn't have decent Mexican food is an understatement lol! This place rocks! Ever since I've not had any issues! If you haven't tried their cheese dip (queso), please do! It's not as spicy as I'm used to but whoo! It is thicc! My favorite is the beef tamales, with the carne asada tacos in a fast second. The tamale red sauce is just right and pour that queso on them and THE BEST! The Mexican rice is so good. The tacos are plain if you don't add stuff to them. I saw a bad review on the tacos. Just know the tacos are plain unless you add stuff, yes you get charged extra, but so worth it. Pico de gallo and, yes, dip them in the queso! The chimichangas, burritos, everything I've tried I've loved. This is the standard for any Mexican restaurant in the south or southwest. Visited the nEw Haven location again as we decided to give them another shot after a horrible carry out experience a few weeks ago. Well, this was no different . Horrible service, 15 minutes in between delivery of first entrees to the final entree for a party of 3. Overcharged for drinks. Waiter walked out in the middle of service. Had to flag down another employee to get our bill. Paid using Apple Pay to get out because nobody was around to take our payment. Food was decent when it was hot.
