Whatever Alberto's lacks in atmosphere, they clearly compensate for it with the flavor punch. The chips are fresh and crispy, the salsa is a perfect homemade blend full of flavor. I was hopeful when we happened upon this place. I always say that an ethnic food restuarant filled with people of it's wone ethnicity is a sure win. Not so much with this place. The guacamole tasted too lemony, which means they don't make it fresh and douse it in lemon to keep it from turning brown. I love love love verde enchiladas. When I make them at home, I always do verde, so naturally, that's what I ordered. The verde was more sour for my liking. I also ordered one taco ala carte because I love a taco. I took one bite and the tortilla split right down the middle and could no longer be consumed like a taco. Service was slooooow. Not bad. The server was very nice and accommodating, just slow to get our food. I say skip Alberto's and go straight to Salsa Grille inside George's International Market on Broadway instead. I am happy I found this little Mexican spot just a second south of the center of downtown on Calhoun. It doesn't look super inviting, but don't let that scare you away. The inside is nicer than you think when approaching the front doors. So far I have tried the chimichanga with chicken and beef, and the fajita quesadilla- both lunch specials and super CHEAP. Every time I have ate here it has been a few dollars cheaper than other Mexican joints around town...score! No one likes to spend a lot on lunch. The chicken wasn't spetacular (I usually prefer steak but that is not an option for most lunch specials). Portions are large. Their chips and salsa are some of my favs. The chips are thick with a strong crunch. Never too salty. Their house salsa is pretty mild but if you ask they have a smokey-hot red salsa and verde.....too die for! Service is "eh". I respect establishments that don't have a million servers on the floor but sometimes I think it is only one lady running around all lunch, which results in empty water glasses and long wait on bills. This is going to be a short review, since I never received my food. Wednesday evening, short line of people waiting for carry out. Dining room was half full. Waitress seated us in about ten minutes. She took our order right away and brought us our chips and drinks very promptly. And then she disappeared- for 2 hours. We sat and watched table after table leave because they were never served. We finally gave up, too. I counted at least 4 waitresses on the floor, not one of which checked on us, apologized for the wait, or even offered an explanation. Love their food! I always look forward to their salsa when I am in FW. Friendly service, but was definitely short staffed last night. I popped in to order chips and salsa to go. After waiting over 10 minutes I realized that I was going to be waiting as long as those waiting for meals. I unfortunately had to leave because I was going to be late to a gathering (of which I promised to bring chips and salsa). I am pretty picky, especially when it comes to Mexican food, but this place was pretty good. I ordered a veggie burrito. The flavor was good. However, I really wish the mushrooms in the burrito were fresh and not canned. Yuck. I picked out what I could and the rest was really good. The queso had good flavor. My favorite thing was the chips and salsa. The salsa tastes very fresh and I could have eaten it with a spoon! My meat-eating boyfriend and parents ordered a chicken quesadilla, ground beef enchiladas, and a ground beef burrito. They were all quite pleased with their food. Not from the area, reviews looked good so we gave it a try. So glad we did! Service was good. Food was excellent, not one complaint. Reasonable prices, especially on the house margaritas. I got two twelve once house margaritas on the rocks, $2.95 a piece. They were a little weak for my taste, so I ordered a shot of house tequila for each, $2 a piece. Only complaint is it was very loud. No music playing so everyone's conversations were bouncing off the walls. read more

Leaving 2 stars based on the food today. Usually, when made right it is great and I'm always pleased. However, lately the customer service has taken a turn for the worst. Just today I came to order food to go. I was overcharged the first ticket order. When I asked to lady to fix the issue,she did and Brought back the new ticket. She then proceeded to hover over me wanting me to pay without having my food done. Being that this establishment is final sale I prefer to look at my food first before paying. I have done this in the past with Alberto's with no complaints. So I was unsure as to why the waitress was hovering and being overbearing about paying that instant. Funny thing is last time I went there I sat waiting almost over an hour as others came ate or picked up orders and left, as the last person waiting and seeing servers cleaning to close I asked did my food get passed over and they said it's still my food is almost done (4 steak tacos). All to be totally wrong. Long story short. Today felt if not the same, worse. I'd recommend any other place that will be timely and respectful. The waitress told me it would be a 40 minute wait so I ordered the chorizo quesadillas instead. My daughter and I have eatened there many times in several years. In January 2019 we came in about 6:15 p.m.. I always get the shredded roast beef burrito supreme. This one particular evening I noticed my burrito didn't taste quite right, but I thought it might be a change in seasoning or sauce. Once I had reached the center of the burrito I found that the meat was turning bad. I realize that it looks like I was trying to eat a partial meal and not pay my bill, and if this had been my first time there instead of my 20th. or 30th. in several years. I could understand that line of thinking. However, I asked for a refund, and the waitress returned to tell me that the chef had stated he had been using that roast beef all day, and there had been no other issue. Imagine, is he saying he had one roast beef for the day? So, I paid my bill, and have not returned. Sadly, I don't understand a Restaurant willing to loose a returning customer over one meal. read more

Loved this restaurant, fast service & very nice waitresses. The chips and salsa was given as soon as possible & this may sound silly but EVERYTIME I'm at restaurants they always forget my lemon in my water but at Alberto's they never forgot it! (For the three times I've been here). The food they give is hot (you can tell it was made fresh) & the portion size is bigger than any other Mexican restaurant I've been too. I always leave the restaurant very full!! I'm a very picky person and I love Alberto's. I always get the Salsa Verde chicken enchiladas!
