The bottle on the top shelf in the middle that is yellow is their Rum Haven

I'm definitely not one to complain about a restaurant, but this is one of the worst places I've eaten at. The margaritas are full of syrup to the point where it's like nectar. I've never had a margarita this bad. Another thing I noticed was the bottle of rum Haven. Rum Haven is supposed to be clear...not yellow. Seriously double think before eating or drinking here.

Mi Patio's is a date favorite! They have delicious, freshly prepared Mexican food. It's always delicious and the family who run it are so incredibly sweet! Very affordable, very relaxing environment. And the CoVid precautions are superb!

This is my all time favorite Mexican restaurant of all time ever (I have been to a ton I can assure…read moreyou it is like my tummy just wants delicious tacos all day every day). I lived in Murphysboro for 4.5 years and went here no less than once a week. One year I gave Sergios up for lent which was damn near impossible. The guys who work there became like my second family, celebrating birthdays, Christmases and of course Cinco De Mayo and the World Cup together. It really was like my second home/family and I miss it very dearly. To this day their chimichanga which is always perfectly crispy filled with this delicious pot roast style steak is the best that I have ever had. My only complaint the entire time I lived there was that they did not have mexican beers on draft but since it was in So. Ill that was not very surprising. I would not say Murphysborians were known for their tolerance of much diversity so Bud Light and Miller Light it was. Their queso is the best and I can say there is nothing better than sitting on their deck on a warm summer night with your friends and a big beer. Seriously heaven. Can you tell that I am missing it alot? No it is not authentic Mexican cuisine, it is very much Americanized to serve its core audience in the Boro (I can not tell you how many times I have witnessed people get chicken tenders there, for realz?). The margaritas are great, the servers and super friendly and wonderful, even though it is super tiny it always seems to expand to fit the large groups I would bring annually for my birthday parties complete with tequila shots, fried ice cream and sombreros. If you are looking for a fancy experience this is not it, just a wonderful hometown favorite. Miss it so very much.

Tucked away off of Old Route 13, Midland Inn is perhaps on of the best places to place an order for a jumbo margarita and enjoy a country feeling with a plethora of friendly locals. Waitstaff will always share a genuine smile that provides a relaxing mood for enjoying one of the best BBQ places in the area. It's worthy to note: if you're looking for fall off the bone ribs, that yield notes of tender-loving care, then this is the place. Although the prices are low, they are in no way indicative of the portion sizes nor quality. Either inside or outside, both are great environments to meet up with friends and enjoy the hospitality that Southern Illinois has to offer. Personal favorite aside from the ribs and a fair-priced old fashioned is their pulled pork sandwich with a side of baked beans and fries. Sweet and savory only to be washed down with a great cocktail. Worth every minute and penny.

She took care of the entire store and restaurant all by herself. The restaurant is very tiny, but the food is delish. The restaurant was empty when I arrived at 1pm. She put on the Mexican music when I arrive. Service is fast. The owner explained the menu and provided good recommendations. I tried 4 tacos of different meat: birria, lengua, steak and carnitas. All are served with onions and lime. I love birria and lengua the most, followed by carnitas. I picked an authentic Mexican soda from their fridge. I love all the drink options available.

However in the back there's a dining area. They make tacos and tortas. After looking around a bit we found where to order at. It's got a window in the back. There's a small menu of a few authentic Mexican items and the choices of protein. Mostly it's tacos of course. These are pretty easy to make. It's $4 each. Protein choices include beef, chicken, or get beans and vegetables. Got us a couple of tacos with the beans. These were topped with cilantro and onions. Small but full of flavor. The store has drinks such as Jarritos, and you can get big ass cans of beans so you can make tacos for later. Good place to get authentic Mexican food. It's located on West Jackson Street at Illinois Avenue in a building that looks unassuming from outside. There's taqueria is located in the back, and you order at the window.

Atmosphere and friendliness abound!…read more While in town visiting, TRES HOMBRES was on my list, escorted by a newly found friend, we made our way to dance the night away while the Ventures rocked out to anything from 72' backward....can I say, what an evening! As the "new girl in town" I was blessed with the giant sombrero and danced my castanets off all night long....service good, music, excellent, friends...priceless...and to think I just got into town a few days before, as I've stated prior in my reviews, there are no strangers in Carbondale. To be honest, it was as if I had left my "vacation" and was actually "home." That's how the people I met and this flavor of Carbondale left it's taste in my mouth....absolutely Unbelievable and Memorable! No wonder I met so many people from the Chicago area, they all migrated to the happening spot of Carbondale. My thanks go out to all those that made my journey and adventure worthy of writing about. This has given me the "oomph" to start writing again and I thank you all. Just remember it's the "Angel from Montgomery" that's writing here, so keep a look out for more reviews to follow... We were shocked when we looked at the menu and there was just fajitas and nacho chips with cheese dip and guacamole, but we're told this place is no longer a Mexican restaurant.. I don't know what to say about that considering the history, the name, and now it's a sports bar? I don't know. I think they're having an identity crisis. We're really sad and ended up going to quatras for pizza to at least get a little bit of food and added nostalgia.
