Just ordered food to go never having been here before. Absolutely worst Mexican food I've ever had. Got an order of shrimp nachos for my son and when we got home, opened it up, it's literally just 7 tortilla chips with very little liquid cheese on the bottom of tin tray and none on the chips and a drizzle over the shrimp. $18 for $5 worth of a child's tray. Also got steak nachos and once again 8 chips (literally the main item in nachos which we didn't get). Burrito I ordered was pitiful. Sour cream (or whatever it was, because I've never tasted it like that before) was piled on top and was twice as tall as the whole burrito by itself. I will not be going back here again. read more

OK mexican food, not bad, but not great or particularly memorable. My tacos were bland, it's like they don't bother seasoning their Barbacoa or Carnitas at all, basically like eating a roast beef or pulled pork taco. Still better than what you'll get at taco bell, but if you're looking for good mexican food, this is not that. I'm used to "authentic" mexican places being on the borderline of too spicy (and I'm a wuss). Their meat had no flavor, even onions and cilantro couldn't save it. Had it delivered by munchies food taxi, so I can't vouch for the service. There are definitely better mexican places in Minot, and that doesn't include fast-food-fake-mex. read more

We absolutely love this place. We've been here three times and love the service we receive. Always greeted & seated in a timely matter. Servers have been kind and fast. Food arrives in timely manner and is great. I've ordered steak fajitas and their enchiladas with tacos platter twice. Their chicken in the enchiladas is AMAZING. Cooked to perfection! The only thing I've noticed is it gets rather loud, which isn't their problem. And it certainly doesn't stop me from eating, lol! read more

I like this place so much I had to go twice during my visit to Minot! It's situated in a small strip mall near Wal-Mart, just off of 83. I was surprised at how friendly the staff is there. Their chips and salsa were really great so I was excited to try the chimi. It was muy delicioso! My friend had the Speedy Gonzales, which I think is a chicken taco and cheese enchilada with rice and beans. They also have an assortment of Mexican sodas. I'm a fan! read more

This place is disgusting. I order a steak taco and the steak pieces they gave me were fried crisps with no flavor! I was extremely disappointed because it's not too difficult to mess up Mexican food. The guacamole tasted artificial and it didn't seem healthy to eat. I would definitely recommend not going to this place if you know what good Mexican food tastes like. The service is okay and the chips and dip are yummy but that's about all I can say about this place. It isn't my favorite and I wouldn't go back again. Prior to our last meal at this Restaurant, things we not good. However, I am VERY pleased to report the food quality & prompt friendly service has returned! YES! The server was TOP notch, the Food arrived fresh, flavorful & piping hot. The drinks were exceptional! Very little to improve, with a minor exception of the salsa served with the chips, for my tastes, maybe something a little less puree. Keep up the great work, we WILL be back! read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Worst Mexican food I've ever had. A two year old with a can opener could do better. Cold food with shredded chicken right out of a can with no seasoning. Was just visiting Minot and found this on Yelp. We decided to try it. Not the most amazing Mexican food that I have ever had. But I suppose it wasn't the worst either. I had the burrito especial and there wasn't too much that was special about it. If I am ever in the Minot area again, I don't think I will be dropping by for some more chips and runny salsa. I am never disappointed with Mi Mexico or their staff. However I called ahead and I ordered food for carry out with a 25 min wait time. I arrived about 35 min later, paid, tipped and was told it wasn't ready yet. Completely fine. 20 additional minutes had passed. One server said she would check, and she came back saying that they were working on it. Another 15 min passed and asked again- (my meal was 2 enchiladas with rice and beans) - because at this point, I would have been served sooner if I would have been seated. She told me that there was a a large party and they were being served first. Very rudely, I might add. I asked to be refunded and my food canceled since it wasn't coming anytime soon. She at first shook her head, before I asked her what she meant by "no".. she did refund my money, but I noticed the tip was not returned. I'll go back, just be sure to avoid any encounters with the server that walks around with a bad attitude. read more

Been here twice. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food in an authentic Mexican restaurant then this is the place for you. Both times I have been here I've ordered the California Burrito which has beans rice and carne asada steak with a Jarritos (Mexican soda). Not only is the food good but the interior of the restaurant will make you feel like you're in mexico. The Interior is decorated with traditional mexican decorations and there is usually has soccer playing on the tv's with mariachi music in the background. September 7, 2011 Wednesday - lunch 1:30 PM 2 Adults Atmosphere - 5 stars Food - 3 stars Service - 3 stars Atmosphere - Near WalMart is this small strip mall with this Mexican restaurant. The walls are painted with a brief history of Mexico, this was really done well. The tables and chairs had been made in Mexico and are covered with a Mexican theme. Food Appetizer - Free chips and salsa. The salsa was in a large bowl and plenty, and I used some with the main course. The chips were filled in a basket. Neither item made me say wow that was good. Main Course - I went with the lunch special 10. This was two enchiladas, asked if I wanted chicken or beef. I assumed beef was shredded beef but it was ground beef. The ground beef had no noticeable seasoning. The enchiladas were lightly covered in red sauce, lettuce, queso blanco, and diced tomatoes. I would have loved more enchilada sauce. I picked the rice over the beans as my side. The rice was tasty. Dessert - I do not think about dessert for lunch. Service - We were promptly seated and chips and salsa and menus delivered. We both ordered water and got those quickly. We placed our order with the waitress shortly thereafter. The food was delivered quickly with a young man with huge pot holder gloves going to his elbows. I do wonder why you serve plates this hot. My food should have not required the plate to be in the oven. Before we had a chance to take a bite our waitress was checking to see how things were. Then we never saw her again. We actually had to walk up to the cashier station to pay our bill. Future - From my friends here in Minot they have said they have had good experiences here and are surprised so I will try it again. read more

The good: the margaritas are massive and strong! The good ends there. The service was slow. So slow that I saw several tables leave. The waiter took so long to bring drinks they came out to empty tables. The food was alright . I had Diablo shrimp. I'm used to this being a saucy meal. Ok, ok ! this is pretty good Mexican food. Came for dinner last night with friends from Saskatchewan so - you know they have good taste. Seemed very authentic and lovely, fresh pico de gallo and grilled meats, the sauces were light and simple. Anyway, it was really super good food and I had a yummy chicken fajita kind of meal and it was so delicious. Plus the portions are really large and the prices are very reasonable. They have a decent selection of coffees as well and lots of variety. People in town had recommended it and said it was pretty authentic and I would have to agree. We were also able to sit and visit long after we had finished our meal, and that was really nice considering it was a busy Friday night. Appreciated that, good atmosphere. read more

I've eaten at Mi Mexico on several occasions. I've always enjoyed the food and margaritas. It's more on the authentic side of Mexican food. Chips and salsa are excellent and they keep bringing more to the table! My only complaint is everything is so good I always over eat!! I highly recommend. Not a very good experience. Their Diet Coke tasted funny. The rice was topped with something that tasted like Ranch Dressing. I make it a point to eat here every time I'm in town (from out of state). The food is authentic, chips and salsa were fresh, chili rellano, always part of my order, is wonderful. The menu is overwhelming, especially if you aren't familiar with Mexican fare, so it might take a while before you decide on your order. I read the reviews and most of the poor reviews were based on service so I thought I would give the food a try. The food is good. At first the service was great. I was seated right away and I received my drink, chips and salsa. In my experience the problem seemed to be in the kitchen. I only ordered a twin steak burrito meal and it took quite a while. They came with another drink and offered more chips several times which was nice because I knew they didn't forget me. All in all I was happy with the food and I will give them another shot the next time I'm up here. Maybe then they can get another star out of me. read more
