First time, and the Menudo was only Hominy soup. Second time, I ordered the Jalapeño Dip... it was watery and had a stench to it Because in our tradition your not suppose to place heated food in the fridge right away. I love this place. I was in town for 4 nights and ended up eating here twice! Very authentic Mexican street tacos. I had a carne asada (steak), carnitas (roasted pork), and Al Pastor (pork with pineapple) and all were excellent. Their sauces are also very fresh with a little heat. I went back for their breakfast burritos and they did not disappoint. Egg,potato, and cheese is my go-to. I added their green sauce and it was awesome. Best Mexican food in Minot, hands down. Went to mi Mexico my first day in Minot and was utterly disappointed that that's all Minot had to offer. Met one of the owners today in el Azteca when I walked in and told him about my skepticism and he told me to not worry and I'll be more than satisfied here. The service, food, and ambiance are authentic and remind me of back home. This is REAL Mexican food, best Mexican spot in Minot.. dare I say North Dakota. This was one of the first restaurants I ate at after arriving in Minot, which was three years ago. I can now say that it's still a great little burrito spot. If you're looking for something fast and Chipotlesque, this is the best place to find it in Minot. The service was quick, even though the restaurant was filled with patrons, and the food was delicious. The interior seating area is very limited, so if it's packed be prepared to eat on the go. Maybe you get a different experience with take out VS dining in? Firstly, I ordered a kids burrito that arrived in a container as just beans, chicken and cheese... where is the "burrito"? There is no tortilla doesn't help we are staying in a hotel due to our house flooding and we have no silverware. I got myself a chicken chimichanga with green chili.. no chili- it's plain. The Queso...??? It's melted shredded cheese.. I can't even scoop it to stay on the chip!! It is not at all like the reviews rave.. I'm confused. I've been wanting to go here for years, so when my friend chose El Azteca for her birthday lunch I was thrilled! It was just as good as she said - incredible! Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had - and in North Dakota of all places! She told me to get the gorditas and I asked if they could make them with beans for me (I'm vegetarian) and they were happy to substitute. This is amazing good - the gorditas are thick and fried/crispy on each side. The beans and rice are flavorful, and the toppings are fantastic! I ordered a chicken chimichanga to go, when I got home and opened the box I was taken aback at the size of this thing... it was the size of a huge burrito and slathered with sour cream and guacamole. Tbh it wasn't the prettiest plate of food.. but I was starving and started eating and WHOA~! Delicioso~!!!! The shredded chicken in the chimichanga and overall flavor is some of the best Mexican food I've had in a while. I live in Denver and I have to drive across town to get food this good. Best Mexican restaurant in town. The staff are friendly and usually very happy. It's welcoming and if you have questions, they will talk you through. The meals are big enough to share. Cheese, sour cream, guacamole and pico (very good pico, has a lil bite) available for topping along with choice of green or red sauce. Don't forget the chips and salsa! Samples are out to try when you approach the register. Now available is tamales! $25 a dozen!! They also have a reward program, just enter your cell phone number at the kiosk by the register each time you visit to earn discounts. Changes I am not happy about: Combined beans and rice in one section of the 3 section container, and put lettuce and tomato in the other small section. Ordered the Birria soup I have to say I was impressed. The flavor is great ! I just wish they would give more meat than they do tortilla strips in the soup. Also they did not provide salsa and the onion with cilantro hardly had cilantro, it was mostly onion. All in all though I'd say it's the most authentic Mexican dish I've had in Minot. Staying at the Hampton Inn and craving some good Mexican food. Past by this place the previous few days and it always seems to be busy. So my coworker and I walked up from the hotel. This makes me feel like home. Mexican decor, music, and Spanish being spoken. Felt like I was back in Arizona. The food did not disappoint either. I had the chilie relleno burrito which was delich! They only dip their chilies in egg and fry them, no other coatings, the way they should be. The burrito had a good flavor and just the right amount of spice. At first I thought it was a little pricey for lunch, my meal was about $11 once I got a pop, but it was a good sized portion. And I've moved here a few months ago. one night I was in my pjs and flipping thru restaurants on door dash desperately looking for something good to eat; El Azteca caught my attention. I got tamales and tacos de asada the tamales were so dry I had to drown them in my own homemade salsa verde.. the asada meat was very little to none and also very dry seems like it was yesterdays cooking or when its left out too long.
