Hit the spot! Wanted a cerveza and a bite. I would recommend trying the elote appetizer it was creamy, spicy, sweet with the corn and played will with the fresh chips and salsa. The chicken taquitos were ok, probably would choose something else next time but I wouldn't complain. Met up with a group of friends as a last minute decision. We were able to be seated immediately as a group of 6 - more importantly, we were quickly moved to a new table when another patron was unable to parent her wild children & the wait staff took note. The staff swooped in & asked if we'd like to move to the bar area. Fabulous. This was the first time we've been in since the remodel. There's tons of seating & plenty of staff. The beer was $4.25, which is definitely reasonable & was adorned with a lime wheel. The hubs and I split a Nachos la Casa order at $14.50. It wasn't inedible - but it certainly wasn't great, or authentic. Topped with fake guacamole (glossy gel kind that has no flavor), cold chicken, a heaping scoop of sour cream - it fell in the bland category. Bad guacamole, salsa, are deal breakers. They've also expanded the menu to have so much on it that it now falls in the "with a menu this big, they must make everything great" category. I'd say scale back the menu and focus on the quality. I do appreciate that the beer in now on tap tho... of course, so are the margaritas (yikes). read more

Good quality TexMex, fresh and not premade like a lot of places. Good solid lunch menu. Staff was polite and place was clean and neat. Would be fun with family and kids. Came for lunch. The salsa and guacamole were a bit bland for my taste. For a first timer I went rather generic and got the chimichanga. It was better than I expected was freshly made. I will be back to try something a bit more non standard. I did not see any verde sauce on the menu and that was disappointing. read more

If this is authentic Mexican food, Southern California has been lying to us. My husband ordered a chili relleno and the sauce which was smothered on the overly heavily breaded barely stuffed with cheese chili. Tasted like pasta sauce. My chimichanga had a choice of beef or chicken, pretty standard. What's not standard is to be asked my preference and up charged when I chose beef. I have never seen a flat chimichanga with burnt dried beef hanging out the edges before until Mi Mexico. It was the driest crusty beef rolled in a tortilla that was just fried in a pan. It was not good.. and hazmat suits with goggles should have been a requirement to walk into their women's bathroom and they're very much aware of the smell in there because they have made a feeble attempt at putting up sticky jelly like air fresheners all in the stalls. It actually burned my eyes and I had to hold my breath, and when I looked down at the drain on the floor, it had brownish pooled up liquid coming out of it. The smell was so strong, when I returned to the table my family could smell it on me. So gross! The only positive was the staff was very pleasant. read more

Three score and many moons ago this was the only Mexican style joint in town, actually was dang good. But in 2023, i am being honest not harsh. The Ambiance is very fancy and comfortable, it's a different change from their previous building. Which wasn't bad really. But salt was lacking in all the dishes, which is a common theme in some of the Latin places here. Such shame, i know i was going to be disappointed, so I added my own secret spices and ordelay, it was magnifico. Dish brought back from the dead. Yeah, salt is amazing along with some common spices. Seriously, i go to places to die happy not leave let down and get sticker shocked. It was the carne asada, then chips n salsa, queso dip, all were kinda bland. Any time i go to places with food i grew up on, i do the Gordon Ramsey approach by getting some specials and staples. If this was 2008 before leaving to go around the world, then all 5s but since they expanded to a new building in the year with a much smaller parking lot, and added in a place in the mall. It seems too much, the El Azteca or Casa Jalisco had flavors, those places really shouldn't be out performing a large restaurant. By adding sodium or any kind of spice above the level 1, i mean North Dakota isn't known for spice but a little helps. Those few suggestions them, bam muchismo yummies will be restored. read more

I have been a frequent visitor to the previous building Mi Mexico had been in. The food quality was always consistent and the service was outstanding. However, I recently stopped in to admire the new building, and it looks amazing inside! The wait time has greatly been increased, and once seated, my server was not personable at all. It also took 45 minutes to receive my food. Needless to say, the food has changed, and not for the better. The white cheese sauce was watery and had zero flavor. The chicken inside my chimichanga was also flavorless, and not what I had come to expect from this restaurant. I left feeling very disappointed. I will give this place another chance when I'm in town again, however I'm assuming this is a staffing issue and/or growing pains in a new building. read more

Been coming to Mi Mexico for YEARS and never had an issue, we decided to order at 9:30 pm on a Friday evening for a carry out order and I had ordered their 2 orders of their mix n match carne asada tacos (the ones that come with 3 tacos, on corn tortillas, meat, cilantro and onion) and we went to pick up. My husband went in and they gave him 2 tacos not 2 orders. So he asked to order the correct thing. So he placed the same order I did but in person, we waited an additional 15 minutes and they still managed to screw up the order. No cilantro/onion and on flour tortillas. Again, I called and spoke to the lady at the register and asked if they would fix the order and she said "No" at this point, it's 10 minutes to closing and I said we've been waiting for our food for almost an hour, you guys can't fix your mistake? And again she said no its not wrong your boyfriend ordered it. So I said my husband ordered what I ordered the first time and if you would have heard it correctly you wouldn't have messed it up twice. She refused to fix our order or refund us the money. I asked to speak to the manager and she claimed to be the manager. If this is truly management. We will no longer be going there. Terrible customer experience for the first time, if this is the new management .. they def need to fire her. read more

I am really easy to please, but when a place is terrible, I have to let others know. The only good thing about this restaurant is the decor. From the moment you walk in and are greeted by apathetic staff, it just keeps getting worse. But because we have so few choices for Mexican food in Minot, I keep going back, hoping the previous bad experiences were anomalies. A group of eight of us decided to get together at Mi Mexico to catch up. The restaurant looked great with plenty of seating and TV's galore. We had a pretty good representation of the menu and everyone was pleased with the quality of the food. The dishes were hot and delicious, and I especially enjoyed the ice cold Bohemia Beer. Although the portions were more along the lines of what you get off a lunch menu, we still left feeling satisfied. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was lively and fun. Was referred to this place as the best Mexican restaurant in town but I feel it's very Americanized. I asked for a bean & cheese and they served it with cheese dip. It was good but not Mexican. I've gotten the California burrito and it wasn't great without the cheese sauce. The molcajete was okay. I have also ordered the churro and ice cream and it had no flavor. Just passing through Minot and decided to try this place. I ordered the Tostaguac (a beef tostada with guacamole), and it was COMPLETELY tasteless!!! There was no seasoning to be had on the entire plate. The ground beef was fried, but not seasoned. The rice seemed to be just boiled with chicken stock. The beans were mashed, but no other seasonings or veggies added! The ONLY reason I'm giving them a star is that the staff was very attentive, friendly and prompt. My husband had the fajitas and only ate the meat and vegetables...he left the rice and beans off. My son had the shrimp chimichanga, but it was a soft shell and not fried. He did enjoy his burrito. Went as a final dinner with my son and wife before we dropped him off at college the next day. They both really like their food first and foremost, I however received my food at what could only be described as room temperature. It was too cold to eat. I too e few bites but immediately asked for a box. Our waiter was a younger gentleman with curly hair, and did a phenomenal job. He to my knowledge did not know about my food because I was always told "don't mess with people that handle your food or finance's!" Took a good friend out to dinner. She and I both had shrimp dishes (she the fajitas and me the spicy shrimp entree) and we both enjoyed them. My husband had a beef and chicken enchilada and was disappointed that the meats did not have more flavor. We had margaritas and compared to others we've had they were not the best.
