Great staff, fast and delicious food, reasonable prices and varied menu for everyone. The interior is funky modern design.

In town again and desperately needed some dinner, so we knew this would be a reliable choice...and it was! We were seated right away and got in our drink orders. There are sooo many options on the menu u...from sandwiches, to meat loaf, to salmon, to salads, and pizza. I went for the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich again, and it was fantastic. Cole Slaw was good too. My wife got the Greek Bowl and really enjoyed its variety and freshness. Drinks were good and very reasonable, and our server was very friendly, personable, and fun. Cool vibe that fits in with the downtown rejuvenation. read more

Good food, server was nice. Martinis tasted good, but a bit weak on the alcohol, or so thought my niece. Nice decor.

Delicious food, great quick service. Was looking for a place with a good salad (turns out Minot doesn't have very many places that serve spinach salad). I went back a second night to try a different dish because I loved it so much the first night! read more

Why not Minot? I was passing through town, and I'm glad I came across the starving rooster. The staff were very friendly here. I got seated immediately. I had a Caesar salad and white rabbit pizza. Both hit the spot and came out pretty quick. Prices were pretty reasonable. The pizzas are about 10 inches, so if you come with an appetite I'd recommend getting something to pair. If you're in Minot, it's worth a stop. read more

Stopped in around 6pm on a Saturday evening for food before hitting the brewery. I had the Cuban salad & the hubs had the Cuban pizza. We both had tall beers, opted for the current sour on tap from Atypical. The food and beer came out in a timely manner, refills were offered regularly. The server was upbeat & friendly. Our total for 2 was about $55 read more

If Hercules himself had to choose between his 12 labors and this pizza... he'd drop the club and grab a slice. The Hercules Pizza at The Starving Rooster isn't messing around. This thing is stacked--like it bench-presses lesser pizzas for fun. Meat lovers, prepare your hearts (and your stretchy pants), because this beast comes loaded with enough protein to make a CrossFitter cry tears of joy. Every bite hits like a heroic punch of savory goodness. Pepperoni? Yep. Sausage? Oh yeah. Bacon? Of course. I'm pretty sure if you listen closely, you can hear the faint sound of ancient Greek battle music as you chew. Crust? Just the right thickness to support all the toppings without giving up. Cheese? Gooey, melty perfection. Sauce? Balanced and bold--definitely not an afterthought. The only real labor involved was not eating the entire thing in one sitting. I failed that one. Zero regrets. The Starving Rooster has truly unleashed a legend. Order the Hercules if you're hungry enough to conquer Mt. Olympus... or at least Minot. read more

Been here 3-4 times and have had a sandwich and pizzas. Would go back for pizza , service was friendly and courteous

Went in on Thursday night. Party of 5. Seated immediately by friendly helpful staff. Two kids meals, the Pioneer pizza, the Hercules pizza, and a sub sandwich (the Italian Stallion)which was more like an Italian feast than a sandwich. Started with a garlic artichoke dip with bread. Everything was delicious, delivered quickly, and consumed the same way. Leftovers were three pieces of pizza, and a half sandwich which were taken home. The kids meals were enjoyed by a 10 and 7 year old. The 10 year old was thrilled to be able to get plain buttered noodles and a Caesar salad, but also sampled pizza and the appetizer, as did the 7 year old who had spaghetti and meatballs. Price point was perfect. Staff attentive but not intrusive. read more

Great modern and trendy pizza bar. Not you typical Pizza Hut! Warm and inviting atmosphere. Wait staff was polite and attentive. Lots to choose from. Had the Chicken Ranch flatbread and it was great! I look forward to trying more on the menu. Pretty slow night so I will come back and see how it is when it's busier. read more

This is a rustic but friendly restaurant with great food. The server was accommodating with food selection. Logan was able to make a half and half flatbread since we couldn't decide on one flatbread. It was delicious. He also created a shot that was very smooth. It was not noisy and able to carry a conversation without the loud music. Highly recommended and a must visit. read more

Super cute place with a wide array of options. We were a part of a larger group, and they accommodated us very well with little notice. The one thing I will say, is I ordered a margarita pizza, and it came with entire cloves of garlic tucked into the cheese. I picked them out because that's a little overkill didn't need to kill anyone with my breath! Overall though, nice job. We liked it here. read more

The space is nice. The service is very good. Adequate wine selection and local craft beers. We ordered Pork and Vegetable Pot Stickers - with sweet Thai-chili sauce 4.5/5 (solid dumpling, excellent sauce), Spicy Pork Belly flatbread 3/5 (not spicy), Hawaiian BBQ flatbread 3/5, and Triple Gear pizza 4.5/5. read more

Great beer selection with a variety of options that will satisfy any beer lover. However, the mediocre lettuce cups were a letdown, especially since the delicious buffalo chicken was served in them. The BLT made up for it with its great bacon and sauce. The service was perfect, with attentive and prompt staff. The vibe and decor of the place were also great, making it a pleasant experience overall. read more

Hate to do this, but it's worth saying. This place has a very nice, casual atmosphere, but it stops there. The food is worse than mid and the servers act like they cooked the food themselves when you complain. I've visited this place twice, a second time only because I felt like it deserved an another chance. I wish I didn't go back because it only made my previous judgement worse. Unfortunately this has to be one of "those" reviews. I had a late dinner at the Starving Rooster with my husband, it was an hour before closing. The vibe was chill and the decor is very modern, almost made me forget I was in Minot. We both ordered the blueberry lemon Moscow mule and I highly recommend it. The drinks were mixed perfectly and you can still taste the alcohol. Our appetizer was the bruschetta and I was disappointed. The bruschetta was very dry and hard to bite into, the topping was only tomato and onion with a bit of basil. The balsamic vinegar was not completely drizzled on the bruschetta. I ordered the prime rib stroganoff and a ranch house salad. Salad was fresh but the croutons were not. The stroganoff was good but it was burnt on the sides and the cheese on top. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich with chips. The chips was stale but he did like the sandwich. I understand it was the last hour and assuming that had a lot to do with it. If I decide to come back, it's going to be earlier in the day. read more

A nice find while traveling through Minot. Great atmosphere, service and a nice menu. My one knock would be that none of us felt that the 3 pizza's we ordered were full of flavor. Having grown up in North Dakota I would say the flavor profile matched the local pallete but for anyone that has lived in other parts of the country or traveled extensively would call it bland. For example, I ordered the Buffalo Chicken flatbread and had to ask for hot sauce to give it even a bit of kick, which is what is expected in Buffalo chicken. read more

The trendy bar and pizza place hit the spot when we were looking for an afternoon bite. Happy to be able to watch football while eating delicious pizza. Tons of options! I had a margarita pizza, hubby had the 3rd gear, which he said wasn't too spicy, and my niece had the BLT, which was teen approved! This would be a fun date night place or somewhere to hang with the guys to catch a game and a drink. Love the decor! Staff was friendly and prompt too. read more

Only been here once so far, but the pizza was absolutely delicious! My favorite thing, though, is the Buffalo Dip. It's just amazing. The best I've ever had. And the garlic bread... so good! The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because of the service. It wasn't bad at all, but not great either read more

I have been staying in Minot for the week and have been trying out different local places. The Starving Rooster was the last place on my list to try for this week, and I visited last night. I was greeted right away and sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly, and offered some tasters from their great selection of taps. They had a good mix of local and domestic beers on tap, as well as other drinks available. I enjoyed the Eh-typical lager from local Atypical Brewing in Minot, of which I am a big fan. The restaurant went with the industrial theme for decor, and has nice big garage doors, which I imagine they open in the nicer months and which I would enjoy in the summer! There were some groups in there, so it got a bit loud at times. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, which came with a choice of one of three side salads. I chose the mixed greens, which had a homemade balsamic dressing on it. The salad was good, a bit heavy on the balsamic but I enjoyed it. The spaghetti and meatballs came in a dish on a large tray, with the portion being deceivingly large in my opinion, as I was full after half the dish. There were a good amount of meatballs, and they definitely didn't skimp like some places may. I liked that the spaghetti was al dente and not mushy like some restaurants. The sauce was ok, but a bit too thin as it didn't stick to the pasta too well, and it was good but didn't have tons of flavor. The dish was good, but nothing to rave about. I was happy with my choice to stop here, but next time I may try the flatbreads or pizzas. read more

Very nice little restaurant downtown MINOT. It's very industrial and very well decorated and clean. We went there with our kiddos and they have a good menu it was very hard to decide which meals to get. I had their pulled pork sandwich and it was delicious. It's ok and I keep coming back. Could be proximity to the Hampton Inn. I had the pork belly flatbread. The bottom on their flatbreads is always nice, toasty, and crisp. However the top was just barely melted. The pork belly on mine was fatty AF. Like I know pork belly is basically fat, but come on. Service was ok. Server seemed to want to rush me and it was still happy hour. It's at least independently owned and not a chain. The beer selection is solid. Pretty affordable too. read more

The Starving Rooster has so much potential. I used to love it, but now I'm stuck at 3 stars. I love the ambiance of the restaurant. It has an industrial feel with connections to the name of the restaurant and original use of the building. (Apparently threshing machines used to be made here that were so good that nothing fell out for the roosters to eat! Hence....the starving rooster) I used to love their Caesar salads. Lately though, the dressing has been tasting too sweet, and the croutons have been subpar. I also used to like the pizza, but when I ordered some yesterday, it was actually gross. There was wayyyyyy too much cheese (seriously...it was like biting into a a block of poor-quality half-melted cheese with a thin layer of bread on the bottom), and there weren't nearly enough toppings. Basically when you order a pizza, you're ordering a 'cheese'. Or what they try to pass as cheese! haha. Another disappointment is that they used to have incredible desserts, but they got rid of them! They had a peanut butter trifle, a chocolate mousse, and a key lime pie trifle. Now they have a creme brûlée, which isn't as good as it could be. Dang it! They also got rid of our two favorite appetizers -- the caprese salad and the Thai chicken wings with cucumber sauce. I will say that my husband and brother in law loved their panini when we came here last time. Also, the chips are pretty darn good! The last two times we came here, service has been poor. Our waitress (the same both times) wasn't wearing a name tag so I don't know her name, but she wasn't pleasant. She didn't smile once, and she spoke in as few words as possible. Starving Rooster used to be a 4 or 5 star restaurant, but lately it hasn't been meeting my expectations. If they hire better waiters/waitresses, spice up their menu, and fix their pizza, they could be great again. I'm looking forward to that day! read more

The Starving Rooster is my go-to. Comfy cool ambience, always delicious food and drinks, and great service.

This place looks happening, however it was dead AF when we went there. It has potential to be rocking, but that Ebenezer place was mucho mas better than the rooster. Pizza was great, beers were sort of cold. The only thing colder than the beers were the bartenders. The locals had better experience with them than we did. Plus the bar had way too many chairs. On a Thursday night there were 10 people in the entire restaurant but over 1,000 chairs just in the bar area. You got to do like a double dare physical challenge though the sea of chair chaos just to reach the bar for cool beers and antisocial bartenders. Oh well they can't all be as great as Ebenezers, but thanks for participating. read more

Hip and very fun restaurant in Minot. My daughter and I visited this restaurant with a local on a Friday night at about 7:30. Parking on the street and in the big nearby parking lot was plentiful. The restaurant was crowded but there were still a few seats available. We were immediately seated. The decor of restaurant was rustic and industrial. Seating was a mix of booths and tables with wood seating. The vibe was relaxed, fun, and social. Karaoke started sometime around 9:30pm. The menu had a great selection of sandwiches, salads, pizzas, paninis, soups, and appetizers. We ordered the Roasted Portabella Sandwich (2 of them) and the Bacon Mac and Cheese. Everything came out relatively quickly and tasted good. Plating was decent. The service was friendly, helpful, and attentive. The gender specific, multi-user rustic style restrooms were simple, spacious, and clean. Overall, for a ND restaurant of this type, this restaurant scored a 4.5 which rounds up to a 5. read more

First Visit to Minot, ND. I went in, and the place seemed clean. It was impressive to see flames in the oven from the front door. Great decor and layout! Hostess/Waitress asked if I wanted to be seated in the bar. I indicated that would be acceptable. When I got to the bar, EVERY seat was dirty. Not a single spot was free of Parmesean cheese from the previous occupant, cup stains, salt/pepper, etc. I asked if she could wipe off a spot, and the reply was "I suppose I could wipe this down again. IT HAD CHEESE FROM THE PREVIOUS OCCUPANT, is it normally just once a day you wipe down the bar top? I ordered an unsweet tea. They brought Sweet Tea. It happens on occasion, but the waitress had repeated "UNSWEET TEA" when I ordered it. When I inquired if it was in fact sweet, she had to ask the bartender who fixed the error and compensated the drink cost. As I sat there, I noted one of the cooler thermometers read 49.7 degrees. I mentioned it to the bartender, who went over and said "Yea, I guess it is." She then took the milk out, and went to the kitchen area, then brought the milk back to another cooler. They continued to serve beer, pickles, olives, etc from the warm cooler. The pizza was tasty, but was served so cold that I could still see the outline of the shredded cheeses. I didn't return it, I was already not impressed and nobody knows how that might have ended. Great taste, but maybe if they could cook it next time. I wish this visit would have worked out better. I liked the theme, I liked the design, but the execution was 0 stars. Serving 50 degree beer and food from a 50 degree cooler did it in for me. Thanks for the try. If you want to know why the Rooster is starving, it's because NOBODY likes warm beer or cold pizza. read more

Have visited The Starving Rooster a few times this year. The food that I have tried is great, they have a nice selection on the menu. My concerns were with staff availability and food wait times.
