After trying and failing to come up with a New Year plan, headed here for their Xmas themed Holiday Bar. They were out of a few items, 2 of which we tried to order, before finally asking what all they didn't have. I opted for the pork chop with blueberry balsamic and it was really good. While in Minot for business, my beautiful wife and I had lunch at Iron Horse Kitchen and Bar. The dining area was spacious and architecturally designed to highlight the features of this historic building in the downtown district. Service was friendly and quick. Cocktails were tasty and very well made. I had the bacon cheeseburger which was delicious and my beautiful enjoyed the steak salad with a house made vinaigrette. Our server recommended an espresso kiosk in town that we really liked. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone interested in a great meal while visiting the historic downtown district. read more

I've been in Minot for a week for work and I've tried a handful of awesome restaurants in the awesome downtown, but I gotta say, this one takes the (cheese)cake. The menu is wonderfully curated with great options to choose from. I ordered the Steak Frites with a side of the chefs vegetables (fresh beans) and it was so delicious and reasonably priced. I was so full by the end of the meal but ordered the cheesecake to go - homemade raspberry white chocolate. Holy yum. Our service was great thanks to the incredibly charming bartender/waiter. I came to Minot with Dr. Chewy (she specializes in Oxyology) because she had a grooming session at Petco. My husband however failed to tell me I needed a MD/vet note validating Dr. Chewy is in good health because she is over 10 years old. And we got turned away at Petco. How rude!!! The $200 grocery money he gave me all of a sudden turned into Ulta and food money because A-A-Ron (not my husband's name btw) messed up. We went to Ironhorse Kitchen and unfortunately Dr. Chewy could not come in, even though she invented oxygen. Once I walked in, I was glad made the decision to come here because the vibe was fresh, incredible lighting, gastro'y, and lively. I started with a drink called "Trust Us" where you tell the server what flavor and liquor you like and the bartender improvises your drink. I like citrus and mangos and vodka, it was soooo refreshing! For the app, it was fried pickles with jalapeño ranch, HIGHLY recommend. The entree was Steak Frites with chimichurri sauce. Now I NOT ever had chimichurri other than watching it on a Gordon Ramsey show. And Oh Em Gee! It may have looked odd because of the color but it complemented the steak so well! *Side note, I ordered the steak medium and it was the best medium. From now on I'm ordering chimichurri with my steak. I had incredible service, Sidney, my server was so happy and cool and that made such a difference. First time to visit, this place was very good! We had the jalapeño lovers burger, my husband couldn't stop raving about it! He said the jalapeños were candied so they didn't have all the heat but lots of flavor. He also loved the jalapeño ranch! So much so that we got some extra to take home. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich. It was perfect. It wasn't drenched in buffalo sauce. The chicken breading was light and so good. The sweet potato fries were to die for!! He was friendly, professional and easy/fun to converse with! Service was fantastic. We ordered Steak Bites, Caprese Skewers, and Fries Flight (a heavenly tray loaded with Waffle Fries, Regular Hand Cut Fries, Sweet Potato Fries, and Tator Tots) as appetizers, followed by Build Your Own Burgers (akin to Bacon Cheeseburger, and Jalapeño Lovers Burger with Roasted Corn on the side - the Prairie Sky Breads jalapeño cheddar bun was divine, as was the Muenster Cheese; the bun is prepared at the bakery across the street), and Honey Habanero Crispy Chicken Sandwich. What a great place to visit when in Minot! I am in Minot on a work trip and was looking for local restaurants to try, and stopped here because of good reviews and recommendations by locals. I enjoyed the variety of items on the menu, and went two nights during my week here because of that. The staff is very friendly and greeted me immediately, even remembering me the second time I went back this week. They have great local options on tap, and remembered what I had the first night and gave me a recommendation for a different IPA to try. The first night the steak was good, though cooked a little bit more than I ordered, and the broccoli was a bit salty for my preference. My second visit I ordered the salmon, which was cooked well and very tasty. I sat at the bar and was able to watch sports on the tvs there, so I cannot speak to how noise was in the dining room, but I did not notice the loudness that others described in their reviews. I thought the space was nice, and the bar comfortable. I would definitely return my next time in Minot! read more

You can have a cold beer and a filling, extremely great meal. They are always welcoming to the kiddos and have good food options as well as kid's cups. Went here a little late after my bf got off work; had a delicious meal and some excellent drinks. I only have two notes: tbe honey glaze on my chicken sandwich was very good, but as I am an incurably messy eater, I'd love to have had some wet naps on the side to help me out. I know that's not the norm, but it could be a nice touch. Also I'd like to be offered a side like fries or a salad -- not a huge deal and it was a great sandwich on its own, but I'd pay a little more for a side of potato salad or slaw with my sandwich. We were just a couple wanting a nice quiet dinner and got seated between two of the most obnoxious noisy loud tables that the staff devoted all of their attention to. VERY STRONG just like the name sake that help tame the west and help fulfill Manifest Destiny! Visiting Minot on business quite often I have tried every restaurant in town (not including frozen pizzas that some bars sell ) All three of my visits to Iron horse I ordered something different. The only weak link so far has been the Chili. Now granted as an Aficionado my standards are very lofty in this category but they could use a change in the recipe. They actual cook the burgers to the correct temperature and the buns are OUTSTANDING. Pricing is fair service has been friendly not smothering. The Bar area is clean, well spaced out, and doesn't feel like a sports bar. Conclusion Iron Horse would make it in Vail or Scottsdale. Manifest Destiny! read more
