And they are the only place I know that correctly calls "sausage kolaches" as their real name--Klobásník--or Klobásníky (plural.) but don't expect those to still be there. On a weekday, they might still have these Czech treats until 3 pm, but on the weekends, they go fast! Always friendly staff and i just love looking through their home decor. They have the cutest little tchotchkes that are locally crafted and so wonderful for home, garden, or lawn. I have bought many a christmas and birthday gift on the way. Great metal art as well! The bathrooms are always clean and smell fine. I highly recommend stopping at least one time to see everything they have to offer. It's a true, "small Texas town" stop! Oh, and set the GPS! I have been to a lot of different grocery stores in my time, and HEB is one that seems to be a…read moredecent one. I went to the one in La Grange, as it was pretty much the only true grocery store in the area (yeah, there is that other one attached to a big box store down the road, but it just isn't the same). Normally grocery stores have a certain layout, and while this store held somewhat true to that typical layout, the one thing it did not have was the standard dimensions. In this store the aisles are relatively short, but there are a bunch of them, which means that finding the right aisle for an item can be a bit tougher because of the way things are distributed through the store. You still have your various sections, like your meat department and your produce, though the deli was in a very odd spot at the front of the store with the access to it pointed away from the entrance to the store. I had to walk the whole way around the store before I was able to find the deli! The store is clean and decently lit, so finding what you need isn't a problem. Variety seemed to be there to some extent, though the deli didn't have any fried chicken which seemed odd to me... baked whole chickens, sure, but no deep fried chicken. Anyway, if you are looking for a grocery store in La Grange, I would say HEB is the place to go, and bypass that big box store down the road.

Their variety is huge and the produce is fresh. The meat market rivals any big meat market I have ever been too and their meat prices are really good! Couldn't ask for anything more. Everyone there is friendly and helpful and it's so nice to see the same faces over and over which tells me the owners are good to their employees.
