The first thing that pops in your head when you think of tacos in Wheaton is probably not good and possibly awful. This place is between good and great. The service was quick and friendly and love the fact that its family owned and family run. Dad on grill Mom on side and Daughter up front taking care of customers. Place was really clean and thats a big plus. My food was fresh and hot and seasoned just right. The chips and salsa were above average thanks for not piling on a huge amount that would go to waste. Prices were in line with places similar so no big surprise good or bad. I will be back again when Im out this way. Thanks for the great surprise. read more

Mi Casa Restaurant - 11.89 got me this plus rice milk not pictured. - Mexican Near Me - Wheaton, Illinois

I had a craving for tacos and I decided to try this place since it's close to home. I ordered tacos to go. The place is what appears to be an old Taco Bell, it is nothing to look at and I do not recommend eating there, it was FREEZING inside. I ordered 4 tacos, 2 steak, one pork and one tongue, along with a rice and bean side order. I waited about 10 minutes for my order. I believe this is a family ran business, there were teenage kids helping out and I think they are the owners kids. I am all for supporting local businesses. I got my food and went home, I have to admit that I inhaled all 4 tacos! They were all absolutely delicious, full of flavor and very generous with their fillings. Their horchata was also good. They sent me home with two salsas, a green and red one. I tried both and they were also very good. One was spicer than the other but the flavor was on point. I will definitely be back for their tacos to go since my favorite place is too far from me now. read more

Small suburban mexican restaurant with great food. The guacamole was fresh and so was the salsa. I had the chicken burrito and my wife had the chilli reno torta, both were good. They also have a cute puppy outside the restaurant and she is very friendly. Only concern was the time to get the food out, my guess is this place would be perfect for a Friday evening take out food when you want to relax at home and have a nice Mexican night. read more

Not a fan....ground beef taco had a mushy texture with a taste of liver in it....they nickle and dime you for every ingredient on your taco.. .and the woman who owns it is so rude! ...but her son was pleasant....won't be returning read more

I liked the mom n' pop feel and service was friendly. I ordered a Steak Torta and 1 taco to taste since it seemed to have excellent reviews. It did come with a small portion of salsa. I didn't mind the small size some complain about since it was just me and I didn't have to share. It packed a heavier amount of tomato flavor and was a nice side to have. Food was good but not over the top excellent. Veggies seemed fairly fresh, bread and tortilla not stale but also not special, meat wasn't chewy which is good news and had good flavor not too salty which allowed me to add as much hot sauce as I wanted. I do prefer my steak browned a bit more than how they do it here. Maybe next time I would ask for the steak to be more browned. I didn't see the restroom then remembered a reviewer said they had one outside. I did not venture to see it so left with taco/food hands X( wet wipes! Wished they had some but they don't ... whomp whomp whomp... Overall not sure I'm dying to go back at all but safe place for Mexican. read more

I don't trust the meat here. The pulled chicken looks like it is probably everything from the chicken and I saw another reviewer say they thought the ground beef had liver in it. Also, no mask wearing is weird. read more

I wish I could have written a better review after reading such wonderful ones. I don't understand why my visit was so drastically different. Visited on a Saturday evening since we love to try new places and wanted to give a shot. We first noticed that there were no prices listed anywhere until the young cashier handed us one. While we were waiting to be cashed out..I noticed that one of the workers dropped food on the floor. She made eye contact with me as she was picking it up and pretended that nothing happened and continued to serve it to someone. None the less, it was only a bag of chips but it makes you wonder..what else do they serve that comes in contact with the floor? We sat down after ordering and they brought out some chips with our drinks and we waited for a decent amount of time. When we finally thought they were coming out with our food..low and behold..they didn't have enough steak to fulfill the order. Normally, not that big of deal but I was already pretty disappointed and asked for my money back. Then! To top it all off, the girl who dropped food on the floor brought back the receipt from the refund. The girl was dripping with attitude and I do NOT tolerate bad customer service like that. I confronted her about dropping food on the floor and she denied it. Let's see how they react when Dupage health department stops by. read more

5-star food. Excellent salsa and red/green sauce. 1-star service, cashier and ambiance. If you like indifferent service, and screaming and horseplay by the owner's / worker's young children while you try to eat- this is the place for you. As a result- I would not go back. Sad- as the food was very good. read more

I had a chile relleno burrito, and it was the goods. I'll be back soon!

Stopped in here tonight for the first time based on Yelp reviews. I was very pleased to confirm the positive experience related by others. I had the Enchlada dinner and my girls had kids quesadillas. The staff was very friendly and even though it was shortly before closing, the place was clean and welcoming. We got some tortilla chips and salsa while we waited for our food which came promptly. The portions were reasonable and the food tasted excellent. I will definitely be coming back to try more of their menu. This is a nice hidden gem in north Wheaton. I would definitely recommend this place over El Zaramba or Front Street Cocina. Only downside is that they do not have a liquor license, so no margartitas ;) read more

A review not about the food but the restaurant in general: kids play in the parking lot all day until 8/9 pm (sometimes as late as 11pm), and I mean scream at the top of their lungs the whole time. Other days, a dog is there that barks just about incessantly. When the cops come, the dog gets called in and all is good for 45 minutes, then the barking starts all over again. I have not eaten at this restaurant. I refuse to, as they are not at all considerate of their neighbors who live in the apartment buildings directly behind them. I can't open my windows when the weather is nice without knowing all I'm going to hear are screams and barks. read more

Came here with a few friends one night to get out of the cold. The tacos were great--tasted fresh without the greasiness of other similar joints. I wish more chips came before the meal, but the salsa was really a kicker. Hopefully next time I'll get to try the horchata read more

The guacamole was excellent. I also ordered tacos which were really good. The prices are low for such quality food. This is a place you order your food from a counter, there is no waitstaff read more

If you're from the southwest or west coast, this is the Mexican place that will feel like home. They have all the favorites in a hole in the wall, counter service establishment that seems family run. We have been coming here for the past three years since stumbling on it while dropping our daughter at college. It was comforting to know there was a place for her to come if she felt homesick. It's rarely busy, and I'm thankful, but it definitely deserves to be busier. read more

Mi Casa Restaurant - Steak taco lunch- the best!!! - Mexican Near Me - Wheaton, Illinois

I hate to leave a bad comment for a place that has great food and for something astrivial as a quesadia. We clearly ordered a "plain cheese" and it came with chicken and cheese. Once again this sounds trivial but not when you have a picky child. We called and told them that they got our order wrong and we were told that they would not exchange it for what we ordered because we told them chicken(we specifically told them plain cheese). Not going to argue and am just going to make my kid one at home! Feel free to rate my homemade "MI Casa" quesadia in the pic! read more

I have been here twice and both times I was highly satisfied! This last time I ordered more off the menu and was downright impressed. I got an order of guacamole and chips, and while it's heavy on the tomatoes l the serving was generous and tasty. I also got the flan and it was super tasty!! Less of a jello consistency, more cheesecake-y but super tasty in my opinion. For entree I've gotten a carne Asada burrito and a torta al pastor. The torta al pastor was fire! Not the best I've ever had but this is seriously great food for a reasonable price.Great to have in the area and seems to be a family run establishment. read more

The best burritos in the area!! Excellent customer service and family owned. Generous and fresh portions! Dine in or take out. Delivery also. Made to order, so there is sometimes a wait. But they give you chips and salsa while you wait. The salsa is fantastic! :) It is one of my local staples and I highly recommend! Reasonably priced too. read more

Mi Casa Restaurant - Awesome salsa!! - Mexican Near Me - Wheaton, Illinois

Nothing is over complicated here, but food is always delicious! I usually order steak tacos - they come on corn tortillas with onion and cilantro. I order them the way the employees recommended and yum, they are good! If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, this is the place to visit! read more

Good food, when they're open. We enjoy eating here but they have such odd hours that we don't go that much anymore. I stopped on Sunday at 12:30 pm when they should be open, only to find that the place was closed. Online it says that they're open. ??? OMG that salsa!!! Hands down the best salsa you will find in Wheaton (maybe even throughout all of Illinois). Very fresh, chunky, and flavorful, with just enough 'kick' to make you respect it. This is a family-run business and they are all very polite. The food is authentic and very good. I love the chile relleno! Oh and did I say their salsa is fantastic? read more

Love this place. Moved to Glen Ellyn recently and tried a few local places before finally finding Mi Casa. There are closer spots for me that are pretty good, but Mi Casa is worth the drive for me every time. My favorite Mexican food in the area. read more

I've eaten here two times. The first time I was surprised how tiny the enchiladas were in the enchilada dinner. Second time I got a Torta and Horchata. The Torta was good but the large Horchata was tiny too (about the size of a medium Mcdonalds cup)!Overpriced and small portions. No refills on chips or Horchata. Last time the Horchata machine was down. My brother had floaters in his water. The food tasted mediocre. The chips aren't fresh. I'm still hungry. I don't know how this restaurant has four stars. I really don't want to eat here again. read more

Been here about a dozen times. Consistently high quality food made with care by the family that owns this business. They are mindful of the customers they serve which is rare these days. It's a small, simple cozy spot in wheaton with delicious and authentic Mexican fair. Order ahead, so they have a heads up. Worth it. Go. read more

First time going to Mi Casa. Easily the best authentic Mexican food I've had in DuPage county. Liz is simply delightful as a server, and the food was amazing. My gf got 2 asada tacos and I got 2 ribeye tacos. Chips, salsa, guac, pico all are amazing. Couldn't recommend any higher to lovers of Mexican cuisine. read more

Doesn't look like much besides a hollowed out Taco Bell but the friendly family inside will serve you some of the best food DuPage county has to offer. Anything on the menu is fantastic but my suggestion is the steak tacos with cilantro and onion. You don't need to get it but just go here and your tastebuds will thank you. read more

Food is alright - not great but average. However, prices need work!! $44 for 1 kid's meal, 2 dinners, drinks and 1 order of chips and salsa.. yes, you have to pay almost 5 bucks for a basket of chips with salsa!! 3 families ordered chips and salsa only 1 got a cup of salsa. Not worth the money. Find a burrito parilla mexicana or somewhere similar for same amount much cheaper. Fyi - their bathroom is outside..bring a coat in winter. read more

You will not find fresher Verde (sauce) than at Mi Casa. The house salsa is a thick paste consistency, and muy bien as well. Their Steak is surprisingly tasty, with the perfect ratio of lean, grease, and fat. I have never seen a restaurant with NO public bathroom get as good of reviews as Mi Casa. I guess I was expecting more from Mi Casa. Honestly? I think I have been tainted by the awesome that is A Toda Madre, Bien Trucha, and El Taco Grande and nothing will ever compare again. That said, let's just go with the pros and cons here: Pros- 1. Nice owner (At least to us...there may or may not have been an altercation with the customer before us. I'm still unsure what happened there...) 2. Tacos are delish! I got a chorizo, asada, and lengua taco and all three were pretty good. I've had better lengua, but it wasn't bad. 3. Jarritos galore!! There were flavors I have never seen before. 4. Outdoor seating. I mean, it was just a couple of patio tables with chairs and it overlooks Main Street and the Ace Hardware, but still, it's outdoor seating. 5. Service was decent. I feel like the owner really feels thankful for people giving them a try and is working for you to come back. Cons- 1. Mi Casa is in the old Taco Bell on Main Street and looks like the old Taco Bell, minus the old luxuries of tables, self serve drinks and condiments, and bathrooms. 2. NO BATHROOMS. Ummmm...I'm pretty sure the TBell here had bathrooms for the public. Where did they go?? 3. I'm kind of unsure as to how you serve yourself or get served here. I THINK you order at the counter and sit down and then the food comes to you. The owner came out and checked on us once to see how we were doing so I guess it's partial service? I don't know. 4. The food was good but not GREAT. In addition to the tacos which were the stars of this place, the accompanying refried beans and rice were NOT GOOD. The guac was good and the burrito was decent (but did not list ALL the ingredients on the menu...a point I heard A MILLION TIMES from my sour cream phobic man, by the way.) 5. NO MARGARITAS! (Or alcohol of any kind from what I could gather) Not a huge deal, but big enough that I had to put it in all caps. I will most definitely stick with my fancy Geneva haunts from here on out. In this particular case, su casa is actually NOT mi casa. read more

This is one of the best Mexican Restaurants in the area. Food is delicious and authentic. The service is great and the staff is very friendly. The prices have gone up since I started coming here which is a bummer but the food is still great. They have another location they recently opened in Bloomingdale hope that location does well so they are around for the long haul. I highly recommend this place. read more

Mi Casa is by far the best Mexican place in the Wheaton area--better than Los or El Famous. They're a family run service, which I generally give bonus points for-it keeps the atmosphere cozy. I've gone here a couple of times and their burritos, tacos, and guac are all great. The salsa is actually salsa (chunky and spunky pico de gallo) and they use corn tortillas for their tacos (sorry midwest, but if you've ever been to California you'll realize that corn tortillas are the way to go for tacos). In all, great family restaurant that serves quality Mexican food (for the Midwest) and you'll leave a happy and satisfied customer! read more

I was a little nervous going to this restaurant for lunch because a coworker had ordered take out some time ago and the quesadilla was quite greasy. Never the less, the craving for fast Mexican food won out and I am so happy it did. My husband came out to meet me for lunch and this was the closest Mexican restaurant, so reluctantly we tried it. We both ordered tacos and shared an order of chips and salsa. The chips were perfectly crispy and not too salty and the salsa was creamy and sweet. We like our food spicy so the delicious hot sauce hit the spot. I preferred the red sauce and my husband liked the green. Based on our order, I can highly suggest the Chicken Tacos and the Pork Carnitas Tacos. The tacos are reminiscent of the street tacos in Austin TX. read more

I've been here three times and all three times have been met with exceptional service. As you sit down they give you chips with just the right amount of salt on them. Along with the chips they give you two different salsas. One salsa is spicy and the other one is mild. Both salsas are authentic and delicious. They offer a variety of food with reasonable prices. I would recommend getting anything that has steak in it. They season their steak well. This family-run restaurant is a great lunch option. It is not fancy looking but the food is great! read more

Not sure how this place got such good ratings. This place is a joke it really really sucks. I took my family based on the ratings and I regret going there big time. We got in the owners where hanging out being loud in one corner. They took out drinks order and it took forever to get me a cup of iced and never offered sugar or even had any on the table. All the servers had an attitude. They brought us a ting bowl of chip and a microscopic salsa bowl to dip; it tasted old and like it came out of a can. The food was horrible like everything else, we ordered the chicken and beef fajitas, the the food had no taste what so ever, the beef was very chewy and the chicken was over cooked, supposedly it came with grilled vegetables that was still raw. We had to ask for our plates and silver wear because they never brought us any, the servers just dumped the plates on the tables and walked away. And we had to get up to get sour cream, because they never tended our table. This place need to be on restaurant impossible, because it's pretty miserable. read more

This family run restaurant is authentic, friendly, clean, and usually busy. I enjoy just about everything on their menu but our family favorites are carnitas, al pastor, and carne asada.
