If you're looking for a new go to place. Then, come on in to Javie's. I love coming here with my family. Everyone is kind, helpful, and you always get greeted with a smile. Also, I love the El Pastor tacos Mexican style. It's the only way to order them. Don't forget to ask for extra salsa I like to use 1 red and 1 green per a taco. The mix of the two salsas ties the flavors together for a delicious meal. They are tasty and fresh with a kick. They have limited outdoor seating. So, I always get them to go. As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of the al pastor taco I have a sensitive palette but this place does not disappoint. I have only had tacos here, oddly since burritos are their namesake, but I never get further than tacos on the menu. The tortilla has a little grease in the middle and the edges have a perfect crisp. The meat is covered in sweet and spice. Their horchata is respectable. I would highly recommend if you are in the area. I wanted this place to be awesome. I had their food at Glen Ellyn street fest and it was good. However, their customer service and menu rules are terrible. When you order your food, you will find that if you order a taco dinner with 3 tacos, you are FORCED that all tacos are the same meat. Heaven forbid should you want 1 chicken and 2 steak, they will tell you "only 1 choice of meat and they will all be the same". I also asked for cilantro and onions in addition to the lettuce, cheese, tomato, but that was too much to request. I got only cilantro and onions. Sorry but people want what they want. Although any business has the right to push "their way or the highway", just be aware they don't care if they lose business by not considering minor requests from their customers. There are too many other choices for good Mexican food around. First visit the enchiladas verdes with chicken were outstanding. Hoped for another great experience, and it hasn't happened. Chili rellenos have tough outer skin left on, taco salad was a clump of mush, quessadilla was small, lacked flavor, tamale was so dry that masa crumbled. Different day each time. Javi's Burritos has been a go-to for me on several occasions and each time they've wowed me. First off, the place is small (with no indoor eating seating) but don't let that scare you away. If you want to "dine-in" you can always sit outside. However, carry-out is just as good. We've had tacos, burritos, nachos, etc. and everything is tasty. I will say that the burrito does fall apart (the shell is flimsy) but if you get a chimichanga then you not only get a delicious burrito but you get it deep-fried and it's twice as good! The first thing that struck me about Javi's is the hilarious small child sitting out front eating a sandwich on the step. He couldn't have been more than two, and yet there he was, chillin' and taking in the sites of downtown Glen Ellyn. Not a sight you often see in these parts, but I kinda like it! Others have mentioned a "hole in the wall" vibe here, and I definitely got that. Odd paint job, subpar lighting, no tables or counter, just three counter height chairs scattered around. But I could see into the kitchen, and it was clean. The two adults we encountered were friendly and made us feel like they were happy we were there. Also, as I will explain later, the food was good. So I really don't care about all the other stuff. Javi's accepts cash only, but they did mention that they're working on getting a "credit card machine" (which is not so much a machine these days, as a tiny device that can connect to a smart phone, but who am I to complain?) It was sort of a fun challenge for my husband and I to scrape together enough cash for our meals. Now, the food...I highly recommend trying the chile relleno. Best I've ever had! The quesadilla was nothing to sneeze at either, but it was just overshadowed by that tasty, cheesy pepper. My husband liked his fajita meal as well, though it was served with chicken when he had ordered steak. The location can't be beat. I love the walkability of our little downtowns. I was in the area for a floral arrangement class and I was hungry. I came to my bfff Yelp to find a place in the area since I'm unfamiliar. I stumbled across this place and decided to stop in. This is strictly a carry out restaurant. They had a few chairs lined up so you could sit and wait if you want. It's a family owned restaurant and they have their son there who's a little ham! He was adorable. He definitely made the wait more bearable with his crazy antics and entertaining personality. I ordered 2 carne asada tacos with cilantro and onion. Anddddd elote!!! I love when places sell elote. They didn't skimp on the steak and it was well seasoned. My only complaint was they went a little too hard on the onion. I was tried to get as much off as I could but was difficult since I had to eat it in my car. The elote was pretty good just wish it had more spice to it. Total $10 and some change. My friend ordered the chicken taco with everything and a cheese quesadilla.
