The Mezza Luna, what is there more to say? A true great quality restaurant, with super service and extremely clean! Prime Rib? Second to NONE! Italian specialties? OFF THE CHARTS! On this particular evening, we dined with friends. Had reservations, and seated promptly, with a smile, and also the requested server, whose name is Steven. He is the best we have ever had, and always ask for him. As we were heading to our table, we saw EJ, the owner, and as always, a hearty greeting and handshake with a genuine "So glad to see you gain!". Seated, Steven came over, and we ordered drinks and appetizers. Drinks always perfect! Not so strong they scream at you and not watered down, as they should be. A Caesar salad, Stuffed meatball for appetizers. the meatball is to die for! then, three of us ordered the prime rib, while another the broiled seafood medley. Served hot, and at just the proper intervals. I wished we could have finished and had desert, but it is a rarity to have with the great portions. I always tip well, and a genuine thank you from Steven, and also EJ caught us on the way out with another genuine "Thanks again for coming!" A super experience as always. Went there on a whim. It was a Monday and most decent restaurants are closed. We had jeans and T shirts on as we were on a road trip and traveled many hours. We were not greeted with kindness by the hostess or the waitress. The food was awesome, fine Italian fare. I noticed that the hostess did not smile, the waitress did not introduce herself like she did at other tables, no dessert was offered. will not go back. I tip well and enjoyed the food but not the service AT ALL. Do not judge, do not look into some ones wallet, yes it is fine dining, but treat your customers with respect. No matter what they are wearing. We certainly did not look like homeless people. We were tired and hungry. And enjoy a good meal! read more

Have lived in the area for over 15 years and FINALLY tried ML! Of course now I'm kicking myself for waiting so long. Entrees come with either soup or salad and fabulous WARM bread. I come here every so often with my grandfather and it's always an amazing experience. The staff is always great, the atmosphere is top notch. And the best part is certainly the food. You can't really order anything bad if you tried. But my go-to order would always be the Caesar Salad and Prime Rib. If you do, you're in for a great night. My boyfriend and i got a last minute reservation here on Valentine's Day. The sheer amount of food they give you is massive. We had the stuffed meatball appetizer which was good. Caesar salad was also good. I had the chicken Parmesan over linguine and loved it! I am so so picky about red sauce and rarely ever order it out at restaurants but i am so happy i did! The chicken itself is HUGE and so thin and crispy. I ended up taking most of the dish home and having it the next day. Overall very happy and will definitely return! read more

We've driven past Mezza Luna for years, always wanting to try it but never willing to deal with the large crowds that are always there. We finally broke down and gave it a shot and were very glad we did. This is an old school red sauce Italian restaurant. No modern twists, just the classics. Since it is a red sauce place, I have to start there . They do a great marinara sauce. You can tell a lot of love goes into their sauce. I was soaking up every drop with the home made bread they provide. They also do one of the best chicken parms I've ever had. Pounded thin, cooked crispy and fork tender. They give you a nice size portion too. I've seen other reviews where people squawk about the prices here, but the prices are very reasonable. $18 for a big chicken parm with salad and bread is not over priced to me. read more

Very disappointed. Was looking forward to a nice Prime Rib dinner on a Wednesday night (they serve prime rib on Wed & Saturdays). They ran out before 6:30pm. We had brought another couple with us and we talked about how we looked forward to a good beef dinner during the half hour drive to the restaurant. Like many have stated the prices are absolutely overpriced for the food you are getting. I got the chicken parm. The sauce was VERY bitter. Chicken was just okay. Not worth $30 in my opinion. Traditional Italian Food with some great surprises like the Stuffed Meatball with mozzarella and spinach. I had the Chicken, Broccoli, Alfredo which was enough for two, maybe three people. Five stars as the service here is always great. My water is always filled, food brought out and checked on promptly, and great knowledge of the overall menu. We had a great anniversary dinner at Mezza Luna. Although the restaurant was busy, the servers were attentive and the food came quickly. We had the ravioli and the pork chops, both of which were cooked perfectly. The portion sizes correspond well to the prices. The restaurant is what I call "fancy if you want to be." There were some customers wearing suits and dresses while others wore jeans and a t shirt, with no one giving them a sideways glance. There were also several families there. My husband and I live In the area and have been desperate to find a local restaurant for the occasional dinner out. The area unfortunately is slim pickings for such a place so finding a local Italian restaurant that's been a staple in the area for so long was exciting. We first tried this restaurant about 2 years ago and were really surprised to find such poor service and flavorless obviously frozen and poorly prepared food for all of the good reviews we had heard or read about them. We didn't let the first experience define them however and we were certainly prepared to give them another shot... perhaps we just had one of those fluke experiences. We returned and sat at the bar where the experience was a bit better. The bartender had a pulse and he was able to pour a drink, but had no intentions of going beyond that. But the other patrons made up for it and it turned out to be enjoyable. The food was served hot and on time. I don't know if they forgot to put flavor in it but it was still that bland taste. Like a white piece of paper... we returned a few more times in hopes it would get better but they are certainly sticklers for mediocrity. We went for the last time last night: Sunday at 6:00 and it was fairly empty so finding a table was easy, but getting the host to get us there was painful. It's almost like they don't want to seat you. The server was actually quite nice, at least she had a personality. The usual warm bread came out, probably fresh out of the microwave. We started with the antipasto salad for 2 which is actually quite good, but that's where it always peaks. The minestrone soup, or their version is like a combination of all of the soups from last week. They need to read up on what minestrone soup is. The stuffed pork was dry and stuffed with some mushy substance and the side of ziti and sauce was a joke. Any Italian would scoff at their version of sauce, it's essentially a mixture of crappy oil, canned tomatoes and maybe tomato paste. There's is no seasoning to be found at all, it's amazing how bland something could taste. We gave them many shots but that's the last. We left and the same pretentious host watched us leave, and he had another slicked haired host with him.... just as snobby. No goodnight, no thanks, just a cold stare. I don't understand how it takes 30 minutes to get 5 salads when you are 1 of 5 tables with 6 waitresses, I could make 5 salads in a couple of minutes. The waitress at our table forgot about mostly everything. She asked my friend what type of drink he had, he was under 21 how hard is it to remember what type of soda someone got, and apparently our waitress can't count to five because she only had 5 entree's with 6 people, my sister waited for another 15 minutes for her pasta. Overall go there if your not hungry for a while and eat something you didn't actually ask for. read more

Mezza luna is my parents favorite place to frequent. I figured I'd give it a try. The food is pretty good and the portions are nice. I'm a eggplant kinda girl and I loved the eggplant salad. Eggplant, basil, mozzarella and a little balsamic. I'll have to back and try it out again. Keep in mind they do parties there and there service for parties is amazing I would give that part of the restaurant 5 stars. Reserve your table and they will meet your needs! read more

My family and I were there for dinner last night after a train ride. It's a beautiful restaurant but not too fancy. Kids in pjs from the train ride were all over the place. Our group of 7 were seated right away. Giant menu with lots of great choices. We had vegetarians and a child in the group so having choices for all of them was fantastic. Our group ordered lasagna and meatballs, vegetarian lasagna, chicken alfredo, prime rib and surf and turf. All the portions were HUGE. Everyone loved their meals. There's also a delicious bread to start. Our server, Steve, was totally devoid of any personality. It seems odd to me that someone like that would work in that business and rely on tips but he didn't bother me enough to take away from a delicious meal. Prime rib Wednesday and Saturday. Slightly chewy but large portions, butter nut squash was excellent. Clam chowder was good. Nice and clean.

My wife and I ate at Mezza Luna tonight and it was such a treat! We live in Sandwich and drive by the restaurant so often and say we're gonna have to try it someday... well we couldn't get into another restaurant and called Mezza Luna and they couldn't have been more accommodating and got us right in. The Hostess was fantastic! She was going to put us at a two top and changed her mind and put a set of four top stating that it was a much better table and she was right. The menu was very extensive and we decided to have the vegetable lasagna and the ziti with meat sauce and meatballs. I love when meals come with either soup or salad - I just think it's so generous on the restaurants part. We ordered a couple of glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon Berringer Knights Valley - which came in a little carafe and equaled a glass and a half! Again super generous on the part of the restaurant considering that this wine retails for $30 plus at the liquor store our wine was $25. The salads were delicious and the homemade Italian dressing was to die for. The bread basket was spilling over with warm, crusty Italian bread that might be the best that I've ever had. My ziti with meatballs was really delicious and very much authentic and homemade... the sauce/gravy was perfection! Our waitress was very sweet, helpful with the menu and very accommodating. My wife doesn't usually get vegetable lasagna because it can be runny and can lack flavor... she barely took anything home it was just awesome. I can't say enough about our experience here tonight and we can't wait to come back & explore other items on the menu! read more

I have been going to the Mezza Luna for years and then stopped. I had a birthday and decided to have lunch there. I ordered the vegetable lasagna and my daughter ordered the antipasto for 1 off the lunch menu. Needless to say food was outstanding. The cheese on the lasagna was delicious and plenty of it. Only because of dietary reason did I not get the meat lasagna never the less the plate was delicious. My daughter antipasto was stuffed with all goodies. The food out of this world and I intend to go back more for lunches in the future. This place is not just for dinner as I found out. 1 - Eek! Methinks not. Date / Time: 01-21-2017 Saturday / 5:30PM Overall Quality: 1 - My mom and I went here for a fundraiser and decided to drop in for dinner. We were very unhappy and would NEVER go back!! For being such a beautiful restaurant and in a great location, the food and service were disheartening. Food: 1 - Take some pride in your food!!! We each ordered a salad that was hard to stomach. My mom's veggies were soggy and my dressing was a very bland oily mess. Even worse, the radishes were sour. The bread that they had brought out was not freshly baked or enjoyable. Working in an upscale service industry with a strong attention to detail, it is challenging to see the bread basket napkin folded incorrectly and having 5 pieces of silverware for dinner for your rollups is wasteful. The oil on the table was just that.....oil...no herbs and it didn't look fresh....neither was the water in the flower vase. My mom ordered the oil & garlic pasta dish and I ordered the ravioli's because they didn't have tortellini. For my choice of sauces, confusion set in for "tomato, meat sauce or a marinara??? Wierd. Her dish was again just that....an oily garlicky mess and my ravioli's looked and tasted like the generic ones from the freezer section. Service: 1 - Was brutal; RESERVATIONS??? Uhm, no...can we sit in the bar area? They stuck us in the corner. Our waitress was condescending and definitely didn't go above and beyond and barely earned her tip. We asked her about a beer list and she said no, so we asked what she had and she stated too many to name. So we asked about speciality drinks and she was just as elusive and rude about it. So we ended up with a "dirty martini" that wasn't very dirty at all. Price: 1 - Prices were extremely high for frozen not freshly baked food.. Cleanliness: 4 - The restaurant didn't smell Any Other Tidbits: 1 - Always happy to support a local business...but with a wait staff leaving against walls and reservations needed for a quick meal, when about 18 tables were still empty when we left, that's just f'ed up. read more

ALWAYS great food and wonderful service. Veal Parm is absolutely the greatest I have ever found. Could only eat half of it last night because it is such a large cut. Prepared perfectly and delivered promptly to our table piping hot. If beef is more to your liking than I challenge you to finish the prime rib. This is a great restaurant for American Italian food. It is a family type restaurant with a great variety. For the style restaurant it has great seafood, veal and sauce. The wine list was a bonus for sure. My only issue and it's every Italian restaurant in the mid range no parmesan for the pasta only Romano ish cheese in a shaker. $40 for a filet I really want shaved Parmesan for my pasta . read more

Came in a bit late and the prime ribs were all gone, Andrea recommended the veal porterhouse which you won't find in NYC and I went with that. We've always enjoyed Mezza Luna and had dinner there again on Saturday, October 29, with friends. My husband ordered Surf and Turf. When dinner arrived, he asked where his shrimp were. The server was very argumentative...telling him he ordered prime rib....not surf and turf. It became very uncomfortable. Her offer to bring shrimp was surly at best, so he gave up. WHAT happened to, "the customer is always right?" The receipt says "Joan C." But I thought she said her name was Caroline. The food was decent. This place is awesome. I highly recommend it to any of my friends that head to the buzzards bay area. The eggplant fries are probably the best appetizer I have ever had in my life. There prime rib is one of the best I've ever had and deffenetly the best priced! The prices here are on the lower side of the Italian restaurants I've been to but the quality and quantity are the exact same.
