Had a great time here tonight. Hugo was our waiter. He was very observant to say the least!!! The food was great! We had steak tacos and the chicken soup ( soup is enough for 2 people) we also had traditional margaritas! I forgot to take photos of the food but was able to capture some of the establishment! This cozy restaurant serves traditional Mexican food on state street. It's quiet and clean! And jazzed up with Mexican decor!

Somewhat kitchy decor with loud laminated graphic tables, foil cutout banners, and hilariously large vessels for their margaritas. A legitimate margarita with freshly squeezed lime, despite its totally absurd form factor. Freshly fried complimentary chips with a super spicy chipotle salsa. The $18 enchiladas with mole were fine. Nice servers.

Many things have changed since the last time I have been here including a major increase in their prices. It didn't seem to have the same vibe and the redecorating was not what you would expect in a public restaurant. However, the restaurant was clean and the menu was extensive. We had the Alambres Steak strips (way too much salt) with onion, bell pepper and cheese, served with tortillas, guacamole and a minuscule amount of beans in addition to an order of nachos. The quality of the food was very good. The ingredients were fresh and the guacamole was seasoned perfectly. My only suggestion would be a lot less salt would be preferable. The Mojito was excellent as was the service!

If it was just based on service - Zac was so friendly - and fun decor, I'd give it 5 stars. But most of the food was so-so. The basket of chips were thick and crispy, which I liked, but the green salsa tasted oily and the red salsa had heat but no flavor... both meh. Portions are large. I had pork quesadilla: hardly any cheese and the pork tasted old and dry. Not sure what my friend ordered, but it was okay. I liked my margarita. It came in a large, fun martini glass. Flan for shared dessert. It was okay but again not special. I probably wouldn't go back based on the food.

What should you get here? Nachos Number Three with Steak! Thank me later :) Think tortilla chips, melted cheese, refried beans, sour cream and guacamole. There are three different versions of nachos on their menu- but honestly--number three is the only way to fly! The steak was so good too. And they were nice and cheesy! Good cheese pulls for sure. I also really loved the Pina Colada that I had. It was served in a huge martini shaped glass. While my friends all loved their margaritas, I went with the pina colada and it was perfect. The front of the building is vivid and colorful and it seems like there is lots of street parking around the restaurant. It's also in a more quiet area of New Haven. No hustle and bustle from my perspective. It was awesome. There was also a mariachi band playing. Everyone was singing along. I loved it! But---if you are looking for a quiet dinner- this may not be the best spot for you. It's definietly a fiesta in there. Be prepared to have fun! Oh--- and eat lots of delicious nachos!

My first here was amazing and definitely a return I didn't take pics of my food but I had the shrimp burrito it was good. One of my friend's had the steak quesadillas and the other had the stuff pepper. Everyone was pleased one had wine and two of us had frozen margaritas. We had the chips and dip sauce from the house but ordered the nachos too. Inside seating was great had a little wait says reservation which we did but one hick up they don't check phone message not a good business practice they did not picked the call so left message. Our waiter Zac was very sweet he took care of us.

Was looking for an authentic Mexican place for a Saturday night in New Haven. Originally picked another place but switched it up at the last minute based off of a recommendation on Facebook. I wish we hadn't. Even though it wasn't that busy it took a long time before we were seen and longer for water to be brought out. Refills were so slow we drank out of a bottle from my wife's purse. Especially tough because the salsa that came out with the chips was closer to hot sauce than that. It was flavorful but spicy. And while I can't put my finger on it the chips missed the mark. To be honest they lost at least 1-2 stars before our food got to the table. For dinner I got the chorizqueso which was hard and congealed and a chili relleno in a flavorless sauce. My wife's chimichanga was pretty good. Rice and beans were bland but at least the tortillas were good.

Making a pit stop through CT on our way back to PA in the beginning of July. We stumbled upon this place as we stopped for gas. No indoor dining and about 4-5 tables outside. Portions are huge! The taquitos are off the appetizer menu! I was relieved that I didn't order an entree. Nice crunch and piled high with fresh veggies and pico.

This place is pretty good. The inside is super cool (no photo, sorry). The service was good, but a little slow. The food was not the best I ever had but it was good. It didn't blow my mind away but a cool place to come if you want some Mexican food. I just think the food could be more flavorful, though the ceviche was definitely quite flavorful. The ceviche was very nice and acidic, but the texture of the shrimp just seemed off to me. There aren't very many options in the area so I would consider coming again but I wouldn't rush.

We were welcomed to Mezcal with an intimate but inviting atmosphere. The tables appeared to be closer together than other restaurants we have dined in post-COVID. We had to ask for a drink menu upon arrival. We each ordered the margarita tradicional... our glasses were deceivingly large, filled with mostly ice and minimal tequila. We both found the complimentary salsa to be good but overly spicy as a starter. We were both pleased with our entrees, both portions were large and tasty. Mezcal appeared to understaffed for a Saturday night with the few employees seemingly overwhelmed. Overall average experience... we both left full and were happy to have branched out.

Family owned... fresh food. Drinks are great and good size. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Close to ice rink for a pregame drink.

Good food, good customer service, and the restaurant is super cute! I loved the mural outside the restaurant. That's what initially caught my attention. The cocktails were also delicious! Unfortunately, my appetite got to the food before I could get any pics. I'll definitely be back though

I had a wonderful experience at Mezcal in the East Rock section of New Haven this past weekend. The ambiance is super authentic, and we were greeted heartily as soon as we walked in. We promptly ordered drinks - my boyfriend had a mango mojito and I had a frozen strawberry margarita. There wasn't much alcohol in my drink but it still tasted heavenly. We then ordered the nachos, and those were my favorite part of the meal. I genuinely think those were the best nachos I've ever had. For dinner, I had the chicken tacos and my boyfriend had the chimichanga. We left the restaurant stuffed and still had heaps of leftovers. Such a fun dinner spot; I'd have to say this is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants!

Carnitas were bomb, even as leftovers

Terrible food. Burnt to a crisp, yet somehow still bland. Our tacos were inedible.

Great tequila program with good cocktails. It's not my first time here but I came here this time to lunch. Here is what I thought: Table side Guacamole is a must especially if you are with a group. The portion is bigger than you think so it's a bit much for 2 people and better for 3+. When they ask if you want it spicy, I personally don't think they go that heavy. If you can handle the heat, spicy really won't knock your socks off. The hamburger is good. Standard and safe. Not much more I need to say about it. Tacos are good and the portion is decent. Not the best I had in the Connecticut and average if you are in the south west. It hits if you miss the flavor profile and really crave it. Hatch Green Chili Stew is really good. Hatch green chili isn't that spicy and gives a Smokey sweeter aroma compared to other peppers. This might be the best thing I had on the menu in terms of food. It was my birthday so I order the Fistful of Dollars for a drink. I enjoyed it for a tequila based cocktail but not sure if I would normally spend that much on a single drink moving forward. Drinks and decor is what makes this restaurant stand out. If you are out on a Friday night or the weekend, I do think this is a great restaurant to get your tequila in because it's one of the best tequila programs I seen in awhile.

We considered calling the cops but didn't want to miss the quality time and events with classmates elsewhere as it was our 25th REUNION! Way to improve the neighborhood, New Haven! Anyone with common sense should stay away from Geronimo's violence-provoking Tequila Bar.

It's always a vibe. Most recently, I stopped by with a coworker for drinks and to catch up. Around 9ish, a DJ came in and started playing fun music, which took the energy up another level. It turned into the perfect mix of relaxed and lively. And let's talk about the drinks their spicy guava margarita is still my absolute favorite. It's the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and refreshing. If you're looking for good food, great drinks, and a fun atmosphere that never disappoints, this is the spot. But when I try to explain to people that the way ingredients fall on a plate of nachos actually matters, people look at me like I'm nuts. Look at this. One look and you know the bottom layer is doomed. They were generous with the cheese, it even seeped through the bottom layer, but then they exiled the cilantro (why is it even on there?) to one side like it's trapped behind a mountain range. Then you got the salsa, sour cream and guac in plastic containers forming an aggressive and completely unnecessary alliance on its border. Why put plastic containers on top of the food to begin with. Im not being crazy, this is physics. None of the ingredients tasted like real food anyway. I don't know where New Haven gets its produce but it all tastes like it was 3D printed.
