Talk about authentic mexican food! Don't underestimate this location that isn't on the main street. It has plenty of outdoor seating and and the they were able to accommodate my party of 9 in less than 10 minutes. The food did take a while to arrive but that is because we ordered a lot so it's understandable. The waiter is able to carry all the drinks on one tray on top of his head all the way to the table. It's absolutely impressive and the entire ambience of the place just screams relaxing and FUN. The food is also phenomenal! We ordered fresh made guac and they prepared it in front of us. The avocados in cancun are HUGE and delicious. The drinks are also delicious. I got a strawberry and mango margarita in a to go fat tuesday like cup for easy traveling. For the 9 of us we got 2 taco parties which come with various meats, guac, beans, and fresh and warm tortillas. We also got the mixed grill which has fish, chicken, beef, and it was absolutely delicious!! My brother got the soup and he enjoyed it. The quesadilla was pretty good as well they use a white cheese instead of the yellow one we always use in the states. Everyone really enjoyed the meal and the price was super affordable. Alina was a great waitress... We have the taco fiesta and the guacamole. It came with five different types of meat and frijoles charros. Alina arrived to our table balancing our drinks on her head, which was pretty cool! We did not have any alcoholic beverages here since we have all the free alcohol we want in our hotel room. It is nice to leave the hotel and the hagglers, to say the least lol. Definitely try this place. Prices are not too bad and the portions were great for two people. Tucked away from the tourist traps, this place is easy to get to, cheap and so much fun, food is amazing too. It's also a short bus ride from the hotel zone (15 min). There's always either a band or mariachi band playing here. The servers and just/hostesses are friendly. If it's not raining I suggest sitting outside. I got the emmoladas, which is chicken mole wrapped in corn tortillas....so good! Just enough sauce, flavor & portions. Chips were fresh! The margaritas were strong and delicious. Awesome ambiance, amazing service and good food. They had a bull run with a fake bull head that involved all the servers, and it was really fun to watch. They had music all the time, and they also kept doing fun things for the guests like dressing everyone up in a sombrero and offering to take pics of the group, or doing mini dances. Amazing place. The waiters are super friendly. They greeted is very warmly and gave us a basket of chips to nibble on until we decide what to order. We had the "Ranchez Villa" which was huge and very yummy. Makes you very tipsy. We ordered the tacos and Chimichanga and I couldn't be happier with our choice. The place is worth every peso. We came here on our first night in Cancun after walking around for awhile, unsure of which place to choose. After choosing Mextreme, I can confirm we chose a good one. After ordering our mixed drinks (mango mojito and regular mojito) I was shocked to see our waiter bring them out on his head. Then the neighboring table had four drinks brought out -- all on the waiter's head -- which I was able to capture on video. Pretty impressive. For food, I went with chicken fajitas, which were sizzling when they arrived and the tortillas were hot, too. My husband chose the house enchiladas. We both thought the quality was quite good for a tourist area. When you've experienced places like Frontera Grill, the bar is quite high. But with solid food, drinks, service and live entertainment, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mextreme to others visiting Cancun. read more

We saw this place from the bus on our way back from a trip when we heard and saw dancers on the stage and outdoor seating, and decided to go for dinner the next night. It absolutely delivered! Soon after we sat down, the staff went on the stage to dance and invited a bunch of customers to join, which we did and it was fun ! They also had waiters come out with two margarita glasses stacked and balanced on their heads, and they also had a group of mariachis go around and sing at tables. I am a foodie at heart, so I am brutally honest when I review restaurants. It was our first meal and first time to Mextreme. So, here it goes . . . The chips and salsa were just ok, not very impressive, which made me a little nervous about what the food we did order would be like. We ordered dinner nachos and they were very nice and warm when they were delivered to our table. We also ordered some battered shrimp tacos (4 come to an order), so we ordered just that, because we weren't sure how big the tacos would be. Boy are we glad we didn't order there fish tacos like we were going to, because the shrimp tacos were plenty for two people to share. These were the best shop tacos I have ever had! They huge shrimp, lightly battered, served with a Chipotle mayo sauce and creamy coleslaw. The shrimp were very fresh, tender and juicy!!! The ambiance and entertainment was nice cultural experience. I will start with OMG! What fun. The food was amazing but the experience was a night to remember. The music is great. They had men playing wood instruments. Then they stopped and you wonder what is going on? Then different music starts and you see wait staff dancing around with drinks on their heads delivering them to your table. The 3 men come back and play some more then the waitstaff round up customers to dance. They also dance around with Mexican flags and wood noisemaker's. The include customers in all the music festivities. As for food we had mixed fajitas which had grilled shrimp and beef. Flavors were amazing!! So tender. We also had enchiladas suites and red chicken enchiladas. They did not disappoint we finished up with cappuccino and tres leches cake. Best I've had because it was not overly sweet or soggy. I'm honestly so disappointed to be writing this review. Years ago I had such a great experience here, so I was very excited to bring my friend with me after really hyping it up. Upon arriving, the staff were really pushy about us sharing what hotel we were staying in. We declined several times, we didn't feel comfortable telling strangers where we were sleeping on vacation. When we sat down, we were brought a very very large wood board that looked like it had been taken off a wall. We ordered several items and two Banana Monkeys (alcoholic beverages.) The drinks came out first, of course part of the fun is that they balance them on their heads. That's fun - but the drink was so sweet and I feel like there wasn't any alcohol in it. Drank the whole thing and not even a buzz - pretty expensive essentially "virgin milkshake" lol For the most disappointing part: after waiting 20 minutes for our food, the server comes out to tell us they don't have anything we ordered.. so we each chose something different (beef and chicken tacos, and nachos.) My friends beef tacos came out first, very very small, dried meat that looked tasted like pork, covered in onions after she had asked for no onions. My chicken tacos never came. The server came back and asked how everything was, I laughed and said "it would be better if I had my tacos" and he laughed and walked away. Another 20 minutes later, he came back to collect her plate, and I asked again for my tacos. No apology or sense of urgency as I was hungry and we had already been there for more than 45 mins waiting. I just want to point out that they were not busy when we were there and there were plenty of staff members just standing around. Tables seated after us were eating their meals - more extravagant dishes (fajitas and more) than chicken tacos I ordered... I asked for the check and decided I'd just get tacos off the street somewhere since I was so hungry. They eventually brought my tacos after waiting almost an hour. It was just tiny street bite sized with dried "chicken" meat and nothing else. How did this take an hour? I don't understand. And no apology, no recognition of the fact we waited forever for something so silly. I honestly felt like it was a joke.
