MB was probably the most upscale dining experience we had at Live Aqua, and it definitely felt like the restaurant that was aiming for a higher-end atmosphere. There is a separate steakhouse on the property that costs extra, but honestly, MB did a great job and even has steak options that made me question whether I'd need to pay extra at all. This is one of the few places where there is actually a dress code. They seemed a little relaxed about enforcing it, but generally you're looking at collared shirts, pants, and closed-toe shoes for men, while women should avoid beachwear and flip-flops. The meal started with fresh bread rolls and what I believe was a strawberry butter, which was surprisingly good. I also tried the habanero cream soup. A lot of people recommended it, both online and around the resort, but for me it was just okay. It had a nice little kick and came in a bread bowl, but it wasn't the standout I expected. My marinated salmon course was good, although it arrived a little cooler than I would have preferred. For the main course, I ordered the stuffed chicken with shrimp, while my girlfriend ordered the veal cheek, and we also split the filet mignon. The stuffed chicken was excellent, but like most restaurants at Live Aqua, the portions were on the smaller side. Thankfully we added the filet mignon, because that ended up being the star of the night. It was fantastic, and if we had stayed longer, I probably would have come back just to order the steak again. For dessert, we tried the brownie with white chocolate, the hibiscus soup, and the lemon pie. The brownie was decent but pretty standard. The desserts were good overall, but the main courses were really what made the meal memorable. Service was good, although it had the same issue we noticed throughout much of the resort. The staff was friendly and attentive enough, but there were stretches where it felt like you were waiting around for someone to check in or refill a drink. One thing I wish they would change is the timing of the live piano music. They have a pianist from 6 to 9, but many of the resort activities and events happen between 7 and 9. We ended up dining around 9, and by then the piano was finished. Since the restaurant stays open much later, it would have been nice to still have that live music and atmosphere during later dinner reservations. Even with a few small complaints, MB delivered one of the best overall dining experiences we had at the resort. The atmosphere felt elevated, the filet mignon was excellent, and it was one of the places I'd make sure to visit again on a future trip. read more

MB is by far the highlight of Live Aqua's restaurant scene. There was a lot of hype before we came to the resort about MB and it did live up! It's a classy place with a lot of options. We went two nights in a row! We loved the little watermelon dish each table gets. The bread served was great, and we tried a handful of dishes including salmon, ahi tuna, filet, habanero soup, mushroom soup, pasta, dessert and a few others. Everything we had was really good. A beautiful awesome evening amazing people of the world. Tonight we managed to snag a reservation at the MB restaurant in the Live Aqua Resort in Cancun, Mexico. Lets get to the food shall we. Falso Ravioli de Atún - Really nice thick slices of Tuna. The over all appearance is super nice. Sauce goes with it nicely. 9.2/10 Lengua de Res - The tongue is done well. Its superbly seasoned. I enjoyed this dish very much. 8.3/10 Mejilla de Tenera - Super Nice and tender. It pretty much melts in your mouth. Yuca chips give it a nice crunch. The sweet potato puree works perfectly together. 9/10 Sopa de Jamaica - Pistachio ice cream is great. The Jamaica reduction is a perfect sauce for it. 9.2/10 If you ever make it to the Live Aqua Resort in Cancun, do give this spot a proper go at it and let me know what you think. Excellent dinner choice when staying at the resort. I went with the habanero soup 5/5, salmon appetizer 4/5, filet mignon wrapped in bacon 5/5 and vanilla ice cream drizzled with amaretto. Service is quick and attentive. The restaurant is popular and upscale however resort wear is fine. Service is very quick, could have used a little more spacing in between courses. It was very busy and there were several birthdays over the hour I was there. The waiter forgot to bring me a steak knife but the filet was so tender I just used the regular (butter) knife and it cut right through it. I ordered medium rare and it was perfectly seared. Supposedly it is one of the best restaurants in the all inclusive choices for dining in the resort. I wouldn't doubt it. read more

We just returned from an 8 day Cancun vacation. We stayed at the Live Aqua resort and the Mb restaurant which is located inside came highly recommend recommended. Now being that I did not have any dress pants with me when I went to Cancun and there is a dress code there I was a bit worried, but the staff at the concierge provided pants for guest because they know most people when going to Cancun don't pack long pants so that was awesome. So after getting my formal attire, we went to the restaurant and oh my gosh, the ambience was five star elegance! There was a piano player playing beautiful music as we dined. We enjoyed a four course meal with a dessert. One of the items that everyone kept recommending that we try before we went here was the Habanero Soup which is one of their specialties. So of course I had to try it and oh my gosh, it was so good. It is served in a big bread bowl which is kind of like a sourdough bread bowl but not. And inside is the creamy habanero soup with spicy bbq potato chips on the top. It sounds strange, and maybe even look a bit strange, but trust me it is absolutely delightful! Our waiter was so attentive to us tending to our every need. Always making sure our wine glass was full or our water glass was full and making sure everything was OK with our food. The chef who is supposedly pretty world-renowned even came out and introduced himself with the wait staff to us! They even took our pictures and treated us like WE were royalty and VIP's. I recently had the pleasure of staying at Live Aqua and went to Mb for celebrating our baby-moon dinner, and while I had a great experience, I recommend making reservations in advance for a smoother visit, which luckily we did. The staff truly excelled at making us feel special and went out of their way to ensure we were well taken care of. The ambiance was stunning, with a rich decor that set the perfect mood. Very cozy, relaxing atmosphere for great food. When people raved about the habanero soup I thought they were just overhyping it but by the end of the night I definitely wanted more soup. There's not really a great way to eat the bread bowl with the soup without the soup spilling out but the potato chips topping gave a great contrast in texture. The filet mignon was tender and juicy. I enjoyed the different flavors of the salad but was surprised about the raw zucchini cubes. They also had a pianist who played so beautifully. MB, as others have mentioned, is the fine dining restaurant of the Live Aqua Hotel. Most of the dishes are part of the "All-inclusive" package. They do have "upgraded" items that you pay for, but they were overpriced for my liking. The place has a very classy and romantic vibe. It was also very cozy. The food was very good. For soup, I had the habanero soup that was served in a bread bowl. My wife had the mushroom soup. It was very flavorful. For the appetizers, I had the Tatake Tuna. My wife had the Gambas. The tuna was the bomb!!! I should have ordered another one. The Gambas was ok. It was good, but nothing to run home to. I almost forgot, I also ordered the Lengua de Vaca. It was so, so good! For the main course, I had the Filet Mignon, while my wife had the Veal Cheek. The Filet Mignon was very tender and flavorful. The sauce was spot on. The Veal Cheek was pretty good, but needed more salt. The dessert was splendid, as well. We had the hibiscus and the choco soup. They also gave us the Brownie as a gift for our 27th Anniversary. I do love a fine dining experience especially if it's included at an all-inclusive hotel. Mb is located at the Live Aqua Hotel and I am appreciative that this is even an option. There are three courses, not including dessert. Although a wonderful concept, I felt that the flavors fell short. My favorite dishes were the Tuna Tataki and the Hibiscus soup with Pistachio ice cream. The quail was too dry and the pork ribs lacked flavor for me. I'll be honest, when the folks in my party insisted that I try the habanero soup, I was very hesitant. But so many people recommended it that I had to give it a go. What's the worst that could happen? I wouldn't like it and order something else. Well, as it happened, I did like it. So much that I am now going to be on a mission to find something similar back at home, which will likely end up in disappointment and another reason to return to Live Aqua. I also ordered the filet, which was surprisingly adorned with gravy. Again, I hesitated (this is out of my comfort zone), but then dug right in. Happily, my hesitation proved wrong again and I devoured the entire thing. It was cooked perfectly and the gravy, although admittedly odd, was tasty. I noticed that a few dishes had interesting features-my wife's salad had giant bubbles on it that popped when she began eating it. Another dish had a cool foam across the top. I later learned that this is due to molecular gastronomy, a cooking method that uses chemistry to create unexpected dishes that push the boundaries of traditional food. Great. Another quest that I'm going to take up back home. Needless to say, MB left me satiated as well as curious to learn more. read more

I would give this overall a 9/10 if possible. This is the most upscale and fancy restaurant that is included in the Live Aqua all inclusive resort. They are accommodating of large groups and the food comes out pretty quickly. You can order multiple plates from the different meal rounds. The portions are hit/miss. The ambiance and vibe of this restaurant is like a upscale, trendy fine dining restaurant. They require men to wear pants and they are only open for dinner (6pm). They do a fantastic job with the design, layout, and feel. Do yourselves a favor and order the habanero soup (not spicy) as it comes in a bread bowl with some potato chips, it's reminiscent of a chowder. The filet mignon was good but my wife's was overcooked. They don't use premium cuts of filet, so you may or may not get a good cut. On our vacay in Cancun in live aqua resort and spa. Fabulous location and fabulous food. Recommend to book this restaurant when it first opens because it's really popular. For an all inclusive restaurant it serves very fine dinning experience and top quality ingredients. Recommended online is the habenero soup in a bread bowl which is hands down the bomb. Paying a little more you can get lobster lamb or prime steak. Book the suites here and get hotel credits that can pay for the additions. Try everything here and it is worth it. All the meat and seafood dishes and fresh, cooked perfectly and comes in chic plating designs. There desserts are also not to mess with. This was supposed to be the nicest place in Live Aqua that you could go to without any extra charge. Having said that, I was pretty underwhelmed, particularly with the service there. We had to ask for things multiple times, and our waiter was barely ever around and largely inattentive. The food took unusually long to come out, and while some of the dishes were good, I would say it was nothing special, and more about showmanship than actual taste. The portions are also very small in general. The ambiance was nice; a dark lit, sort of romantic vibe. Keep in mind also that there will likely be a wait time of up to an hour and there are no reservations, so if you are starving you might be better off going somewhere else in the resort where you will be seated more quickly. read more
